Salmi 94

1O Dio delle vendette, o Eterno, Iddio delle vendette, apparisci nel tuo fulgore! 2Lèvati, o giudice della terra, rendi ai superbi la loro retribuzione! 3Fino a quando gli empi, o Eterno, fino a quando gli empi trionferanno? 4Si espandono in discorsi arroganti, si vantano tutti questi operatori d’iniquità. 5Schiacciano il tuo popolo, o Eterno, e affliggono la tua eredità. 6Uccidono la vedova e lo straniero, ammazzano gli orfani, 7e dicono: L’Eterno non vede, l’Iddio di Giacobbe non ci fa attenzione. 8Abbiate intendimento, voi gli stolti fra il popolo! E voi, pazzi, quando sarete savi? 9Colui che ha piantato l’orecchio non udirà egli? Colui che ha formato l’occhio non vedrà egli? 10Colui che castiga le nazioni non correggerà, egli che imparte all’uomo la conoscenza? 11L’Eterno conosce i pensieri dell’uomo, sa che son vanità. 12Beato l’uomo che tu correggi, o Eterno, ed ammaestri con la tua legge 13per dargli requie dai giorni dell’avversità, finché la fossa sia scavata per l’empio. 14Poiché l’Eterno non rigetterà il suo popolo, e non abbandonerà la sua eredità. 15Poiché il giudizio tornerà conforme a giustizia, e tutti i diritti di cuore lo seguiranno. 16Chi si leverà per me contro i malvagi? Chi si presenterà per me contro gli operatori d’iniquità? 17Se l’Eterno non fosse stato il mio aiuto, a quest’ora l’anima mia abiterebbe il luogo del silenzio. 18Quand’ho detto: Il mio piè vacilla, la tua benignità, o Eterno, m’ha sostenuto. 19Quando sono stato in grandi pensieri dentro di me, le tue consolazioni han rallegrato l’anima mia. 20Il trono della nequizia t’avrà egli per complice? esso, che ordisce oppressioni in nome della legge? 21Essi si gettano assieme contro l’anima del giusto, e condannano il sangue innocente. 22Ma l’Eterno è il mio alto ricetto, e il mio Dio è la ròcca in cui mi rifugio. 23Egli farà ricader sovr’essi la loro propria iniquità, e li distruggerà mediante la loro propria malizia; l’Eterno, il nostro Dio, li distruggerà.

1Yahweh, you God to whom vengeance belongs, you God to whom vengeance belongs, shine out. 2Rise up, you judge of the earth. Pay back the proud what they deserve. 3Yahweh, how long will the wicked, how long will the wicked triumph? 4They pour out arrogant words. All the evildoers boast. 5They break your people in pieces, Yahweh, and afflict your heritage. 6They kill the widow and the alien, and murder the fatherless. 7They say, “Yah will not see, neither will Jacob’s God consider.” 8Consider, you senseless among the people; you fools, when will you be wise? 9He who implanted the ear, won’t he hear? He who formed the eye, won’t he see? 10He who disciplines the nations, won’t he punish? He who teaches man knows. 11Yahweh knows the thoughts of man, that they are futile. 12Blessed is the man whom you discipline, Yah, and teach out of your law; 13that you may give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit is dug for the wicked. 14For Yahweh won’t reject his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance. 15For judgment will return to righteousness. All the upright in heart shall follow it. 16Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will stand up for me against the evildoers? 17Unless Yahweh had been my help, my soul would have soon lived in silence. 18When I said, “My foot is slipping!” Your loving kindness, Yahweh, held me up. 19In the multitude of my thoughts within me, your comforts delight my soul. 20Shall the throne of wickedness have fellowship with you, which brings about mischief by statute? 21They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood. 22But Yahweh has been my high tower, my God, the rock of my refuge. 23He has brought on them their own iniquity, and will cut them off in their own wickedness. Yahweh, our God, will cut them off.

1O God der wraken! o HEERE, God der wraken! verschijn blinkende. 2Gij, Rechter der aarde! verhef U; breng vergelding weder over de hovaardigen. 3Hoe lang zullen de goddelozen, o HEERE! hoe lang zullen de goddelozen van vreugde opspringen? 4Uitgieten? hard spreken? alle werkers der ongerechtigheid zich beroemen? 5O HEERE! zij verbrijzelen Uw volk, en zij verdrukken Uw erfdeel. 6De weduwe en den vreemdeling doden zij, en zij vermoorden de wezen. 7En zeggen: De HEERE ziet het niet, en de God van Jakob merkt het niet. 8Aanmerkt, gij onvernuftigen onder het volk! en gij dwazen! wanneer zult gij verstandig worden? 9Zou Hij, Die het oor plant, niet horen? zou Hij, Die het oog formeert, niet aanschouwen? 10Zou Hij, Die de heidenen tuchtigt, niet straffen, Hij, Die den mens wetenschap leert? 11De HEERE weet de gedachten des mensen, dat zij ijdelheid zijn. 12Welgelukzalig is de man, o HEERE! dien Gij tuchtigt, en dien Gij leert uit Uw wet, 13Om hem rust te geven van de kwade dagen; totdat de kuil voor den goddeloze gegraven wordt. 14Want de HEERE zal Zijn volk niet begeven, en Hij zal Zijn erve niet verlaten. 15Want het oordeel zal wederkeren tot de gerechtigheid; en alle oprechten van hart zullen hetzelve navolgen. 16Wie zal voor mij staan tegen de boosdoeners? Wie zal zich voor mij stellen tegen de werkers der ongerechtigheid? 17Ten ware dat de HEERE mij een Hulp geweest ware, mijn ziel had bijna in de stilte gewoond. 18Als ik zeide: Mijn voet wankelt; Uw goedertierenheid, o HEERE! ondersteunde mij. 19Als mijn gedachten binnen in mij vermenigvuldigd werden, hebben Uw vertroostingen mijn ziel verkwikt. 20Zou zich de stoel der schadelijkheden met U vergezelschappen, die moeite verdicht bij inzetting? 21Zij rotten zich samen tegen de ziel des rechtvaardigen, en zij verdoemen onschuldig bloed. 22Doch de HEERE is mij geweest tot een Hoog Vertrek, en mijn God tot een Steenrots mijner toevlucht. 23En Hij zal hun ongerechtigheid op hen doen wederkeren, en Hij zal hen in hun boosheid verdelgen; de HEERE, onze God, zal hen verdelgen.
