Salmi 122

1Canto dei pellegrinaggi. Di Davide. Io mi sono rallegrato quando m’han detto: Andiamo alla casa dell’Eterno. 2I nostri passi si son fermati entro le tue porte, o Gerusalemme; 3Gerusalemme, che sei edificata, come una città ben compatta, 4dove salgono le tribù, le tribù dell’Eterno, secondo l’ingiunzione fattane ad Israele, per celebrare il nome dell’Eterno. 5Perché quivi sono posti i troni per il giudizio, i troni della casa di Davide. 6Pregate per la pace di Gerusalemme! Prosperino quelli che t’amano! 7Pace sia entro i tuoi bastioni, e tranquillità nei tuoi palazzi! 8Per amore dei miei fratelli e dei miei amici, io dirò adesso: Sia pace in te! 9Per amore della casa dell’Eterno, dell’Iddio nostro, io procaccerò il tuo bene.

1I was glad when they said to me, “Let’s go to Yahweh’s house!” 2Our feet are standing within your gates, Jerusalem; 3Jerusalem, that is built as a city that is compact together; 4where the tribes go up, even Yah’s tribes, according to an ordinance for Israel, to give thanks to Yahweh’s name. 5For there are set thrones for judgment, the thrones of David’s house. 6Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Those who love you will prosper. 7Peace be within your walls, and prosperity within your palaces. 8For my brothers’ and companions’ sakes, I will now say, “Peace be within you.” 9For the sake of the house of Yahweh our God, I will seek your good.

Ik verblijd mij in degenen, die tot mij zeggen: Wij zullen in het huis des HEEREN gaan. 2Onze voeten zijn staande in uw poorten, o Jeruzalem! 3Jeruzalem is gebouwd, als een stad, die wel samengevoegd is; 4Waarheen de stammen opgaan, de stammen des HEEREN, tot de getuigenis Israels, om den Naam des HEEREN te danken. 5Want daar zijn de stoelen des gerichts gezet, de stoelen van het huis van David. 6Bidt om den vrede van Jeruzalem; wel moeten zij varen, die u beminnen. 7Vrede zij in uw vesting, welvaren in uw paleizen. 8Om mijner broederen en mijner vrienden wil, zal ik nu spreken, vrede zij in u! 9Om des huizes des HEEREN, onzes Gods wil, zal ik het goede voor u zoeken.
