Oh quanto sono amabili le tue dimore, o Eterno degli eserciti! 2L’anima mia langue e vien meno, bramando i cortili dell’Eterno; il mio cuore e la mia carne mandan grida di gioia all’Iddio vivente. 3Anche il passero si trova una casa e la rondine un nido ove posare i suoi piccini… I tuoi altari, o Eterno degli eserciti, Re mio, Dio mio!… 4Beati quelli che abitano nella tua casa, e ti lodano del continuo! Sela. 5Beati quelli che hanno in te la loro forza, che hanno il cuore alle vie del Santuario! 6Quando attraversano la valle di Baca essi la trasformano in luogo di fonti; e la pioggia d’autunno la cuopre di benedizioni. 7Essi vanno di forza in forza, e compariscono alfine davanti a Dio in Sion. 8O Eterno, Iddio degli eserciti, ascolta la mia preghiera; porgi l’orecchio, o Dio di Giacobbe! Sela. 9O Dio, scudo nostro, vedi e riguarda la faccia del tuo unto! 10Poiché un giorno ne’ tuoi cortili val meglio che mille altrove. Io vorrei piuttosto starmene sulla soglia della casa del mio Dio, che abitare nelle tende degli empi. 11Perché l’Eterno Iddio è sole e scudo; l’Eterno darà grazia e gloria. Egli non ricuserà alcun bene a quelli che camminano nella integrità. 12O Eterno degli eserciti, beato l’uomo che confida in te!
1How lovely are your dwellings, Yahweh of Armies! 2My soul longs, and even faints for the courts of Yahweh. My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God. 3Yes, the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young, near your altars, Yahweh of Armies, my King, and my God. 4Blessed are those who dwell in your house. They are always praising you. Selah. 5Blessed are those whose strength is in you; who have set their hearts on a pilgrimage. 6Passing through the valley of Weeping, they make it a place of springs. Yes, the autumn rain covers it with blessings. 7They go from strength to strength. Everyone of them appears before God in Zion. 8Yahweh, God of Armies, hear my prayer. Listen, God of Jacob. Selah. 9Behold, God our shield, look at the face of your anointed. 10For a day in your courts is better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. 11For Yahweh God is a sun and a shield. Yahweh will give grace and glory. He withholds no good thing from those who walk blamelessly. 12Yahweh of Armies, blessed is the man who trusts in you.
1Voor den opperzangmeester, op de Gittith; een psalm, voor de kinderen van Korach. 2Hoe liefelijk zijn Uw woningen, o HEERE der heirscharen! 3Mijn ziel is begerig, en bezwijkt ook van verlangen, naar de voorhoven des HEEREN; mijn hart en mijn vlees roepen uit tot den levenden God. 4Zelfs vindt de mus een huis, en de zwaluw een nest voor zich, waar zij haar jongen legt, bij Uw altaren, HEERE der heirscharen, mijn Koning, en mijn God! 5Welgelukzalig zijn zij, die in Uw huis wonen; zij prijzen U gestadiglijk. Sela. 6Welgelukzalig is de mens, wiens sterkte in U is, in welker hart de gebaande wegen zijn. 7Als zij door het dal der moerbezienbomen doorgaan, stellen zij Hem tot een fontein; ook zal de regen hen gans rijkelijk overdekken. 8Zij gaan van kracht tot kracht; een iegelijk van hen zal verschijnen voor God in Sion. 9HEERE, God der heirscharen! hoor mijn gebed; neem het ter oren, o God van Jakob! Sela. 10O God, ons Schild! zie, en aanschouw het aangezicht Uws gezalfden. 11Want een dag in Uw voorhoven is beter dan duizend elders; ik koos liever aan den dorpel in het huis mijns Gods te wezen, dan lang te wonen in de tenten der goddeloosheid. 12Want God, de HEERE, is een Zon en Schild; de HEERE zal genade en eer geven; Hij zal het goede niet onthouden dengenen, die in oprechtheid wandelen. HEERE der heirscharen! welgelukzalig is de mens, die op U vertrouwt.
