Salmi 8

1Al Capo de’ musici. Sulla Ghittea. Salmo di Davide. O Eterno, Signor nostro, quant’è magnifico il tuo nome in tutta la terra! O Tu che hai posta la tua maestà nei cieli. 2Dalla bocca de’ fanciulli e de’ lattanti tu hai tratto una forza, per cagione de’ tuoi nemici, per ridurre al silenzio l’avversario e il vendicatore. 3Quand’io considero i tuoi cieli, opra delle tue dita, la luna e le stelle che tu hai disposte, 4che cos’è l’uomo che tu n’abbia memoria? e il figliuol dell’uomo che tu ne prenda cura? 5Eppure tu l’hai fatto poco minor di Dio, e l’hai coronato di gloria e d’onore. 6Tu l’hai fatto signoreggiare sulle opere delle tue mani, hai posto ogni cosa sotto i suoi piedi: 7pecore e buoi tutti quanti ed anche le fiere della campagna; 8gli uccelli del cielo e i pesci del mare, tutto quel che percorre i sentieri de’ mari. 9O Eterno, Signor nostro, quant’è magnifico il tuo nome in tutta la terra!

1Yahweh, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth, who has set your glory above the heavens! 2From the lips of babes and infants you have established strength, because of your adversaries, that you might silence the enemy and the avenger. 3When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have ordained; 4what is man, that you think of him? What is the son of man, that you care for him? 5For you have made him a little lower than God, and crowned him with glory and honor. 6You make him ruler over the works of your hands. You have put all things under his feet: 7All sheep and cattle, yes, and the animals of the field, 8The birds of the sky, the fish of the sea, and whatever passes through the paths of the seas. 9Yahweh, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

1Een psalm van David, voor den opperzangmeester, op de Gitthith. 2O HEERE, onze Heere! hoe heerlijk is Uw Naam op de ganse aarde! Gij, die Uw majesteit gesteld hebt boven de hemelen. 3Uit de mond der kinderkens en der zuigelingen hebt Gij sterkte gegrondvest, om Uwer tegenpartijen wil, om den vijand en wraakgierige te doen ophouden. 4Als ik Uw hemel aanzie, het werk Uwer vingeren, de maan en de sterren, die Gij bereid hebt; 5Wat is de mens, dat Gij zijner gedenkt, en de zoon des mensen, dat Gij hem bezoekt? 6En hebt hem een weinig minder gemaakt dan de engelen, en hebt hem met eer en heerlijkheid gekroond? 7Gij doet hem heersen over de werken Uwer handen; Gij hebt alles onder zijn voeten gezet; 8Schapen en ossen, alle die; ook mede de dieren des velds. 9Het gevogelte des hemels, en de vissen der zee; hetgeen de paden der zeeen doorwandelt. O HEERE, onze Heere! hoe heerlijk is Uw Naam op de ganse aarde!
