Thi-thiên 127

1Nếu Ðức Giê-hô-va không cất nhà, Thì những thợ xây cất làm uổng công. Nhược bằng Ðức Giê-hô-va không coi-giữ thành, Thì người canh thức canh luống công. 2Uổng công thay cho các ngươi thức dậy sớm, đi ngủ trễ, Và ăn bánh lao khổ; Chúa cũng ban giấc ngủ cho kẻ Ngài yêu mến bằng vậy. 3Kìa, con cái là cơ nghiệp bởi Ðức Giê-hô-va mà ra; Bông trái của tử cung là phần thưởng. 4Con trai sanh trong buổi đang thì, Khác nào mũi tên nơi tay dõng sĩ. 5Phước cho người nào vắt nó đầy gùi mình! Người sẽ không hổ thẹn, Khi nói năng với kẻ thù nghịch mình tại cửa thành.

1Unless Yahweh builds the house, they labor in vain who build it. Unless Yahweh watches over the city, the watchman guards it in vain. 2It is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil; for he gives sleep to his loved ones. 3Behold, children are a heritage of Yahweh. The fruit of the womb is his reward. 4As arrows in the hand of a mighty man, so are the children of youth. 5Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them. They won’t be disappointed when they speak with their enemies in the gate.

1Een lied Hammaaloth, van Salomo. Zo de HEERE het huis niet bouwt, tevergeefs arbeiden deszelfs bouwlieden daaraan; zo de HEERE de stad niet bewaart, tevergeefs waakt de wachter. 2Het is tevergeefs, dat gijlieden vroeg opstaat, laat opblijft, eet brood der smarten; het is alzo, dat Hij het Zijn beminden als in den slaap geeft. 3Ziet, de kinderen zijn een erfdeel des HEEREN; des buiks vrucht is een beloning. 4Gelijk de pijlen zijn in de hand eens helds, zodanig zijn de zonen der jeugd. 5Welgelukzalig is de man, die zijn pijlkoker met dezelve gevuld heeft; zij zullen niet beschaamd worden, als zij met de vijanden spreken zullen in de poort.
