1Povo meu, escuta minha doutrina; inclinai vossos ouvidos às palavras de minha boca. 2Abrirei minha boca em parábolas; falarei mistérios dos tempos antigos, 3Os quais ouvimos e conhecemos, e nossos pais nos contaram. 4Nós não os encobriremos a seus filhos, contaremos à próxima geração sobre os louvores do SENHOR, o seu poder, e suas maravilhas que ele fez. 5Porque ele firmou um testemunho em Jacó, e pôs a Lei em Israel, a qual ele instruiu aos nossos pais, para que eles ensinassem a seus filhos; 6Para que a geração seguinte dela soubesse; e os filhos que nascessem contassem a seus filhos; 7E assim pusessem sua esperança em Deus; e não se esquecessem dos feitos de Deus, mas sim, que guardassem os mandamentos dele; 8E não fossem como seus pais, que foram uma geração teimosa e rebelde; geração que não firmou seu coração, e cujo espírito não foi fiel a Deus. 9Os filhos de Efraim, mesmo tendo arcos e flechas, viraram-se para trás no dia da batalha; 10Não guardaram o pacto de Deus, e recusaram a andar conforme sua Lei. 11E se esqueceram de seus feitos, e de suas maravilhas que ele tinha lhes feito ver. 12Ele fez maravilhas perante seus pais na terra do Egito, no campo de Zoã. 13Ele dividiu o mar, e os fez passarem por ele; ele fez as águas ficarem paradas como se estivessem amontoadas. 14E ele os guiou com uma nuvem durante o dia, e por toda a noite com uma luz de fogo. 15Ele partiu as rochas no deserto, e lhes deu de beber como que de abismos profundos. 16Porque ele tirou correntes da rocha, e fez as águas descerem como rios. 17E ainda prosseguiram em pecar contra ele, irritando ao Altíssimo no deserto. 18E tentaram a Deus nos seus corações, pedindo comida para o desejo de suas almas. 19E falaram contra Deus, e disseram: Poderia Deus preparar uma mesa de comida no deserto? 20Eis que ele feriu a rocha, e águas correram dela e ribeiros fluíram em abundância; será que ele também poderia nos dar pão, ou preparar carne a seu povo? 21Por isso o SENHOR os ouviu, e se irritou; e fogo se acendeu contra Jacó, e furor também subiu contra Israel; 22Porque eles não creram em Deus, nem confiaram na salvação que dele vem; 23Mesmo assim, ele deu ordens às altas nuvens, e abriu as portas dos céus; 24E choveu sobre eles o maná, para comerem; e lhes deu trigo dos céus. 25Cada homem daquele povo comeu o pão dos anjos; ele lhes mandou comida para se fartarem. 26Ele fez soprar o vento do oriente nos céus, e trouxe o vento do sul com seu poder. 27Ele fez chover sobre eles carne como a poeira da terra; e aves de asas como a areia do mar; 28E as fez cair no meio de seu acampamento, ao redor de suas tendas. 29Então comeram, e fartaram-se abundantemente; e satisfez o desejo deles. 30Porem, estando eles ainda não satisfeitos, enquanto a comida ainda estava em suas bocas, 31a ira de Deus subiu contra eles; matou os mais robustos deles e abateu os jovens de Israel. 32Com tudo isto ainda pecaram, e não creram nas maravilhas que ele fez. 33Por isso gastaram seus dias em futilidades, e seus anos em terrores. 34Quando ele matava alguns dentre eles, então buscavam por ele, e se convertiam, e buscavam a Deus de madrugada. 35E se lembravam de que Deus era sua rocha, e que o Deus Altíssimo era o seu libertador. 36Porém falavam bem dele da boca para fora, e mentiam com suas línguas. 37Porque o coração deles não era comprometido para com ele, e não foram fiéis ao pacto dele. 38Porém ele, sendo misericordioso, perdoava a maldade deles, e não os destruía; e muitas vezes desviou de mostrar sua ira, e não despertou todo o seu furor; 39Porque se lembrou de que eles eram carne, e como o vento, que vai, e não volta mais. 40Quantas vezes o provocaram no deserto, e o maltrataram na terra desabitada! 41Pois voltavam a tentar a Deus, e perturbavam ao Santo de Israel. 42Não se lembraram de sua mão, nem do dia em que os livrou do adversário. 43Como quando ele fez seus sinais no Egito, e seus atos maravilhosos no campo de Zoã. 44E transformou seus rios e suas correntes em sangue, para que não bebessem. 45Enviou entre eles variedades de moscas, que os consumiu; e rãs, que os destruíram. 46E deu suas colheitas ao pulgão, e o trabalho deles ao gafanhoto. 47Com saraiva destruiu suas vinhas, e suas figueiras-bravas com granizo. 48E entregou seu gado à saraiva; e seus animais a brasas ardentes. 49Mandou entre eles o ardor de sua ira: fúria, irritação e angústia, enviando mensageiros do mal. 50Ele preparou o caminho de sua ira; não poupou suas almas da morte, e entregou seus animais à peste. 51E feriu mortalmente a todo primogênito no Egito; as primícias nas forças nas tendas de Cam. 52E levou a seu povo como a ovelhas; e os guiou pelo deserto como a um rebanho. 53Ele os conduziu em segurança, e não temeram. O mar encobriu seus inimigos. 54E os trouxe até os limites de sua terra santa, até este monte, que sua mão direita adquiriu. 55E expulsou as nações de diante deles, e fez com que eles repartissem as linhas de sua herança, e fez as tribos de Israel habitarem em suas tendas. 56Porém eles tentaram e provocaram ao Deus Altíssimo; e não guardaram os testemunhos dele. 57E voltaram a ser tão infiéis como os seus pais; desviaram-se como um arco enganoso. 58E provocaram a ira dele com seus altares pagãos, e com suas imagens de escultura moveram-no de ciúmes. 59Deus ouviu isto , e se indignou; e rejeitou gravemente a Israel. 60Por isso ele abandonou o tabernáculo em Siló, a tenda que ele havia estabelecido como habitação entre as pessoas. 61E entregou o símbolo de seu poder em cativeiro, e sua glória na mão do adversário. 62E entregou seu povo à espada, e enfureceu-se contra sua herança. 63O fogo consumiu a seus rapazes, e suas virgens não tiveram músicas de casamento. 64Seus sacerdotes caíram à espada, e suas viúvas não lamentaram. 65Então o Senhor despertou como que do sono, como um homem valente que se exalta com o vinho. 66E feriu a seus adversários, para que recuassem, e lhes pôs como humilhação perpétua. 67Porém ele rejeitou a tenda de José, e não escolheu a tribo de Efraim. 68Mas escolheu a tribo de Judá, o monte de Sião, a quem ele amava. 69E edificou seu santuário como alturas; como a terra, a qual ele fundou para sempre. 70E ele escolheu a seu servo Davi; e o tomou dos apriscos de ovelhas. 71Ele o tirou de cuidar das ovelhas geradoras de filhotes, para que ele apascentasse ao seu povo Jacó; e à sua herança Israel. 72E ele os apascentou com um coração sincero, e os guiou com as habilidades de suas mãos.
1Hear my teaching, my people. Turn your ears to the words of my mouth. 2I will open my mouth in a parable. I will utter dark sayings of old, 3Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us. 4We will not hide them from their children, telling to the generation to come the praises of Yahweh, his strength, and his wondrous works that he has done. 5For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a teaching in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children; 6that the generation to come might know, even the children who should be born; who should arise and tell their children, 7that they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments, 8and might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation that didn’t make their hearts loyal, whose spirit was not steadfast with God. 9The children of Ephraim, being armed and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle. 10They didn’t keep God’s covenant, and refused to walk in his law. 11They forgot his doings, his wondrous works that he had shown them. 12He did marvelous things in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan. 13He split the sea, and caused them to pass through. He made the waters stand as a heap. 14In the daytime he also led them with a cloud, and all night with a light of fire. 15He split rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink abundantly as out of the depths. 16He brought streams also out of the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers. 17Yet they still went on to sin against him, to rebel against the Most High in the desert. 18They tempted God in their heart by asking food according to their desire. 19Yes, they spoke against God. They said, “Can God prepare a table in the wilderness? 20Behold, he struck the rock, so that waters gushed out, and streams overflowed. Can he give bread also? Will he provide flesh for his people?” 21Therefore Yahweh heard, and was angry. A fire was kindled against Jacob, anger also went up against Israel, 22because they didn’t believe in God, and didn’t trust in his salvation. 23Yet he commanded the skies above, and opened the doors of heaven. 24He rained down manna on them to eat, and gave them food from the sky. 25Man ate the bread of angels. He sent them food to the full. 26He caused the east wind to blow in the sky. By his power he guided the south wind. 27He rained also flesh on them as the dust; winged birds as the sand of the seas. 28He let them fall in the midst of their camp, around their habitations. 29So they ate, and were well filled. He gave them their own desire. 30They didn’t turn from their cravings. Their food was yet in their mouths, 31when the anger of God went up against them, killed some of their fattest, and struck down the young men of Israel. 32For all this they still sinned, and didn’t believe in his wondrous works. 33Therefore he consumed their days in vanity, and their years in terror. 34When he killed them, then they inquired after him. They returned and sought God earnestly. 35They remembered that God was their rock, the Most High God, their redeemer. 36But they flattered him with their mouth, and lied to him with their tongue. 37For their heart was not right with him, neither were they faithful in his covenant. 38But he, being merciful, forgave iniquity, and didn’t destroy them. Yes, many times he turned his anger away, and didn’t stir up all his wrath. 39He remembered that they were but flesh, a wind that passes away, and doesn’t come again. 40How often they rebelled against him in the wilderness, and grieved him in the desert! 41They turned again and tempted God, and provoked the Holy One of Israel. 42They didn’t remember his hand, nor the day when he redeemed them from the adversary; 43how he set his signs in Egypt, his wonders in the field of Zoan, 44he turned their rivers into blood, and their streams, so that they could not drink. 45He sent among them swarms of flies, which devoured them; and frogs, which destroyed them. 46He gave also their increase to the caterpillar, and their labor to the locust. 47He destroyed their vines with hail, their sycamore fig trees with frost. 48He gave over their livestock also to the hail, and their flocks to hot thunderbolts. 49He threw on them the fierceness of his anger, wrath, indignation, and trouble, and a band of angels of evil. 50He made a path for his anger. He didn’t spare their soul from death, but gave their life over to the pestilence, 51and struck all the firstborn in Egypt, the chief of their strength in the tents of Ham. 52But he led out his own people like sheep, and guided them in the wilderness like a flock. 53He led them safely, so that they weren’t afraid, but the sea overwhelmed their enemies. 54He brought them to the border of his sanctuary, to this mountain, which his right hand had taken. 55He also drove out the nations before them, allotted them for an inheritance by line, and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents. 56Yet they tempted and rebelled against the Most High God, and didn’t keep his testimonies; 57but turned back, and dealt treacherously like their fathers. They were turned aside like a deceitful bow. 58For they provoked him to anger with their high places, and moved him to jealousy with their engraved images. 59When God heard this, he was angry, and greatly abhorred Israel; 60So that he abandoned the tent of Shiloh, the tent which he placed among men; 61and delivered his strength into captivity, his glory into the adversary’s hand. 62He also gave his people over to the sword, and was angry with his inheritance. 63Fire devoured their young men. Their virgins had no wedding song. 64Their priests fell by the sword, and their widows couldn’t weep. 65Then the Lord awakened as one out of sleep, like a mighty man who shouts by reason of wine. 66He struck his adversaries backward. He put them to a perpetual reproach. 67Moreover he rejected the tent of Joseph, and didn’t choose the tribe of Ephraim, 68But chose the tribe of Judah, Mount Zion which he loved. 69He built his sanctuary like the heights, like the earth which he has established forever. 70He also chose David his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds; 71from following the ewes that have their young, he brought him to be the shepherd of Jacob, his people, and Israel, his inheritance. 72So he was their shepherd according to the integrity of his heart, and guided them by the skillfulness of his hands.

Zou Hij Zijn volke vlees toebereiden? 21Daarom hoorde de HEERE, en werd verbolgen; en een vuur werd ontstoken tegen Jakob, en toorn ging ook op tegen Israel; 22Omdat zij in God niet geloofden, en op Zijn heil niet vertrouwden. 23Daar Hij den wolken van boven gebood, en de deuren des hemels opende; 24En regende op hen het Man om te eten, en gaf hun hemels koren. 25Een iegelijk at het brood der Machtigen; Hij zond hun teerkost tot verzadiging. 26Hij dreef den oostenwind voort in den hemel, en voerde den zuidenwind aan door Zijn sterkte; 27En regende op hen vlees als stof, en gevleugeld gevogelte als zand der zeeen; 28En deed het vallen in het midden zijns legers, rondom zijn woningen. 29Toen aten zij, en werden zeer zat; zodat Hij hun hun lust toebracht. 30Zij waren nog niet vervreemd van hun lust; hun spijs was nog in hun mond, 31Als Gods toorn tegen hen opging, dat Hij van hun vetsten doodde, en de uitgelezenen van Israel nedervelde. 32Boven dit alles zondigden zij nog, en geloofden niet, door Zijn wonderen. 33Dies deed Hij hun dagen vergaan in ijdelheid, en hun jaren in verschrikking. 34Als Hij hen doodde, zo vraagden zij naar Hem, en keerden weder, en zochten God vroeg; 35En gedachten, dat God hun Rotssteen was, en God, de Allerhoogste, hun Verlosser. 36En zij vleiden Hem met hun mond, en logen Hem met hun tong. 37Want hun hart was niet recht met Hem, en zij waren niet getrouw in Zijn verbond. 38Doch Hij, barmhartig zijnde, verzoende de ongerechtigheid, en verdierf hen niet; maar wendde dikwijls Zijn toorn af, en wekte Zijn ganse grimmigheid niet op. 39En Hij dacht, dat zij vlees waren, een wind, die henengaat en niet wederkeert. 40Hoe dikwijls verbitterden zij Hem in de woestijn, deden Hem smart aan in de wildernis! 41Want zij kwamen alweder, en verzochten God, en stelden den Heilige Israels een perk. 42Zij dachten niet aan Zijn hand, aan den dag, toen Hij hen van den wederpartijder verloste; 43Hoe Hij Zijn tekenen stelde in Egypte, en Zijn wonderheden in het veld van Zoan; 44En hun vloeden in bloed veranderde, en hun stromen, opdat zij niet zouden drinken. 45Hij zond een vermenging van ongedierte onder hen, dat hen verteerde, en vorsen, die hen verdierven. 46En Hij gaf hun gewas den kruidworm, en hun arbeid den sprinkhaan. 47Hij doodde hun wijnstok door den hagel, en hun wilde vijgebomen door vurigen hagelsteen. 48Ook gaf Hij hun vee den hagel over, en hun beesten aan de vurige kolen. 49Hij zond onder hen de hittigheid Zijns toorns, verbolgenheid, en verstoordheid, en benauwdheid, met uitzending der boden van veel kwaads. 50Hij woog een pad voor Zijn toorn; Hij onttrok hun ziel niet van den dood; en hun gedierte gaf Hij aan de pestilentie over. 51En Hij sloeg al het eerstgeborene in Egypte, het beginsel der krachten in de tenten van Cham. 52En Hij voerde Zijn volk als schapen, en leidde hen, als een kudde, in de woestijn. 53Ja, Hij leidde hen zeker, zodat zij niet vreesden; want de zee had hun vijanden overdekt. 54En Hij bracht hen tot de landpale Zijner heiligheid, tot dezen berg, dien Zijn rechterhand verkregen heeft. 55En Hij verdreef voor hun aangezicht de heidenen, en deed hen vallen in het snoer hunner erfenis, en deed de stammen Israels in hun tenten wonen. 56Maar zij verzochten en verbitterden God, den Allerhoogste, en onderhielden Zijn getuigenissen niet. 57En zij weken terug, en handelden trouwelooslijk, gelijk hun vaders; zij zijn omgekeerd, als een bedriegelijke boog. 58En zij verwekten Hem tot toorn door hun hoogten, en verwekten Hem tot ijver door hun gesneden beelden. 59God hoorde het en werd verbolgen, en versmaadde Israel zeer. 60Dies verliet Hij den tabernakel te Silo, de tent, die Hij tot een woning gesteld had onder de mensen. 61En Hij gaf Zijn sterkte in de gevangenis, en Zijn heerlijkheid in de hand des wederpartijders. 62En Hij leverde Zijn volk over ten zwaarde, en werd verbolgen tegen Zijn erfenis. 63Het vuur verteerde hun jongelingen, en hun jonge dochters werden niet geprezen. 64Hun priesters vielen door het zwaard, en hun weduwen weenden niet. 65Toen ontwaakte de Heere, als een slapende, als een held, die juicht van den wijn. 66En Hij sloeg Zijn wederpartijders aan het achterste; Hij deed hun eeuwige smaadheid aan. 67Doch Hij verwierp de tent van Jozef, en den stam van Efraim verkoos Hij niet. 68Maar Hij verkoos den stam van Juda, den berg Sion, dien Hij liefhad. 69En Hij bouwde Zijn heiligdom als hoogten, als de aarde, die Hij gegrond heeft in eeuwigheid. 70En Hij verkoos Zijn knecht David, en nam hem van de schaapskooien; 71Van achter de zogende schapen deed Hij hem komen, om te weiden Jakob, Zijn volk, en Israel, Zijn erfenis. 72Ook heeft hij hen geweid naar de oprechtheid zijns harten, en heeft hen geleid met een zeer verstandig beleid zijner handen.
