1E la parola dell’Eterno mi fu rivolta in questi termini: 2"Figliuol d’uomo, c’erano due donne, figliuole d’una medesima madre, 3le quali si prostituirono in Egitto; si prostituirono nella loro giovinezza; là furon premute le loro mammelle, e la fu compresso il loro vergine seno. 4I loro nomi sono: quello della maggiore, Ohola; quella della sorella, Oholiba. Ed ella diventò famosa fra le donne, e su di lei furono eseguiti dei giudizi. 11E la sua sorella vide questo, e nondimeno si corruppe più di lei ne’ suoi amori, e le sue prostituzioni sorpassarono le prostituzioni della sua sorella. 12S’appassionò per i figliuoli d’Assiria, ch’eran suoi vicini, governatori e magistrati, vestiti pomposamente, cavalieri montati sui loro cavalli, tutti giovani e belli. 13E io vidi ch’ella si contaminava; ambedue seguivano la medesima via; 14ma questa superò l’altra nelle sue prostituzioni; vide degli uomini disegnati sui muri, delle immagini di Caldei dipinte in rosso, 15con delle cinture ai fianchi, con degli ampi turbanti in capo, dall’aspetto di capitani, tutti quanti, ritratti de’ figliuoli di Babilonia, della Caldea, loro terra natia; 16e, come li vide, s’appassionò per loro e mandò ad essi de’ messaggeri, in Caldea. 17E i figliuoli di Babilonia vennero a lei, al letto degli amori, e la contaminarono con le loro fornicazioni; ed ella si contaminò con essi; poi, l’anima sua s’alienò da loro. 18Ella mise a nudo le sue prostituzioni, mise a nudo la sua vergogna, e l’anima mia s’alienò da lei, come l’anima mia s’era alienata dalla sua sorella. 19Nondimeno, ella moltiplicò le sue prostituzioni, ricordandosi dei giorni della sua giovinezza quando s’era prostituita nel paese d’Egitto; 20e s’appassionò per quei fornicatori dalle membra d’asino, dall’ardor di stalloni. 21Così tu tornasti alle turpitudini della tua giovinezza, quando gli egiziani ti premevan le mammelle a motivo del tuo vergine seno. 22Perciò, Oholiba, così parla il Signore, l’Eterno: ecco, io susciterò contro di te i tuoi amanti, dai quali l’anima tua s’è alienata, li farò venire contro di te da tutte le parti: 23i figliuoli di Babilonia e tutti i Caldei, principi, ricchi e grandi, e tutti i figliuoli d’Assiria con loro, giovani e belli, tutti governatori e magistrati, capitani e consiglieri, tutti montati sui loro cavalli. 24Essi vengono contro di te con armi, carri e ruote, e con una folla di popoli; con targhe, scudi, ed elmi si schierano contro di te d’ogn’intorno; io rimetto in mano loro il giudizio, ed essi ti giudicheranno secondo le loro leggi. 25Io darò corso alla mia gelosia contro di te, ed essi ti tratteranno con furore: ti taglieranno il naso e gli orecchi, e ciò che rimarrà di te cadrà per la spada; prenderanno i tuoi figliuoli e le tue figliuole e ciò che rimarrà di te sarà divorato dal fuoco. 26E ti spoglieranno delle tue vesti, e porteran via gli oggetti di cui t’adorni. 27E io farò cessare la tua lussuria e la tua prostituzione cominciata nel paese d’Egitto, e tu non alzerai più gli occhi verso di loro, e non ti ricorderai più dell’Egitto. 28Poiché così parla il Signore, l’Eterno: Ecco, io ti do in mano di quelli che tu hai in odio, in mano di quelli, dai quali l’anima tua s’è alienata. 29Essi ti tratteranno con odio, porteran via tutto il frutto del tuo lavoro, e ti lasceranno nuda e scoperta; e così saran messe allo scoperto la vergogna della tua impudicizia, la tua lussuria e le tue prostituzioni. 30Queste cose ti saran fatte, perché ti sei prostituita correndo dietro alle nazioni, perché ti sei contaminata coi loro idoli. 31Tu hai camminato per la via della tua sorella, e io ti metto in mano la sua coppa. 32Così parla il Signore, l’Eterno: Tu berrai la coppa della tua sorella: coppa profonda ed ampia, sarai esposta alle risa ed alle beffe; la coppa è di gran capacità. 33Tu sarai riempita d’ebbrezza e di dolore: e la coppa della desolazione e della devastazione, è la coppa della tua sorella Samaria. 34E tu la berrai, la vuoterai, ne morderai i pezzi, e te ne squarcerai il seno; poiché son io quegli che ho parlato, dice il Signore, l’Eterno. 35Perciò così parla il Signore, l’Eterno: Poiché tu m’hai dimenticato e m’hai buttato dietro le spalle, porta dunque anche tu, la pena della tua scelleratezza e delle tue prostituzioni". 36E l’Eterno mi disse: "Figliuol d’uomo non giudicherai tu Ohola e Oholiba? Dichiara loro dunque le loro abominazioni! 37Poiché han commesso adulterio, han del sangue sulle mani; han commesso adulterio coi loro idoli, e gli stessi figliuoli che m’avean partorito, li ha fatti passare per il fuoco perché servissero loro di pasto. 38E anche questo m’hanno fatto: in quel medesimo giorno han contaminato il mio santuario, e han profanato i miei sabati. 39Dopo aver immolato i loro figliuoli ai loro idoli, in quello stesso giorno son venute nel mio santuario per profanarlo; ecco, quello che hanno fatto in mezzo alla mia casa. 40E, oltre a questo, hanno mandato a cercare uomini che vengon da lontano; ad essi hanno invitato de’ messaggeri, ed ecco che son venuti. Per loro ti sei lavata, ti sei imbellettata gli occhi, ti sei parata d’ornamenti; 41ti sei assisa sopra un letto sontuoso, davanti al quale era disposta una tavola; e su quella hai messo il mio profumo e il mio olio. 42E là s’udiva il rumore d’una folla sollazzante, e oltre alla gente presa tra la folla degli uomini, sono stati introdotti degli ubriachi venuti dal deserto, che han messo de’ braccialetti hai polsi delle due sorelle, e de’ magnifici diademi sul loro capo. 43E io ho detto di quella invecchiata negli adulteri: Anche ora commettono prostituzioni con lei!… proprio con lei! 44E si viene ad essa, come si va da una prostituta! Così si viene da Ohola e Oholiba, da queste donne scellerate. 45Ma degli uomini giusti le giudicheranno, come si giudican le adultere, come si giudican le donne che spandono il sangue; perché sono adultere, e hanno del sangue sulle mani. 46Perciò così parla il Signore, l’Eterno: Sarà fatta salire contro di loro una moltitudine, ed esse saranno date in balìa del terrore e del saccheggio. 47E quella moltitudine le lapiderà, e le farà a pezzi con la spada; ucciderà i loro figliuoli e le loro figliuole, e darà alle fiamme le loro case. 48E io farò cessare la scelleratezza nel paese, e tutte le donne saranno ammaestrate a non commetter più turpitudini come le vostre. 49E la vostra scelleratezza vi sarà fatta ricadere addosso, e voi porterete la pena della vostra idolatria, e conoscerete che io sono il Signore, l’Eterno".
1Yahweh’s word came again to me, saying, 2Son of man, there were two women, the daughters of one mother: 3and they played the prostitute in Egypt; they played the prostitute in their youth; there were their breasts pressed, and there was handled the bosom of their virginity. 4Their names were Oholah the elder, and Oholibah her sister: and they became mine, and they bore sons and daughters. As for their names, Samaria is Oholah, and Jerusalem Oholibah. 5Oholah played the prostitute when she was mine; and she doted on her lovers, on the Assyrians her neighbors, 6who were clothed with blue, governors and rulers, all of them desirable young men, horsemen riding on horses. 7She bestowed her prostitution on them, the choicest men of Assyria all of them; and on whoever she doted, with all their idols she defiled herself. 8Neither has she left her prostitution since leaving Egypt; for in her youth they lay with her, and they handled the bosom of her virginity; and they poured out their prostitution on her. 9Therefore I delivered her into the hand of her lovers, into the hand of the Assyrians, on whom she doted. 10These uncovered her nakedness; they took her sons and her daughters; and her they killed with the sword: and she became a byword among women; for they executed judgments on her. 11Her sister Oholibah saw this, yet was she more corrupt in her doting than she, and in her prostitution which were more than the prostitution of her sister. 12She doted on the Assyrians, governors and rulers, her neighbors, clothed most gorgeously, horsemen riding on horses, all of them desirable young men. 13I saw that she was defiled; they both took one way. 14She increased her prostitution; for she saw men portrayed on the wall, the images of the Chaldeans portrayed with vermilion, 15dressed with girdles on their waists, with flowing turbans on their heads, all of them princes to look on, after the likeness of the Babylonians in Chaldea, the land of their birth. 16As soon as she saw them she doted on them, and sent messengers to them into Chaldea. 17The Babylonians came to her into the bed of love, and they defiled her with their prostitution, and she was polluted with them, and her soul was alienated from them. 18So she uncovered her prostitution, and uncovered her nakedness: then my soul was alienated from her, like as my soul was alienated from her sister. 19Yet she multiplied her prostitution, remembering the days of her youth, in which she had played the prostitute in the land of Egypt. 20She doted on their paramours, whose flesh is as the flesh of donkeys, and whose issue is like the issue of horses. 21Thus you called to memory the lewdness of your youth, in the handling of your bosom by the Egyptians for the breasts of your youth. 22Therefore, Oholibah, thus says the Lord Yahweh: Behold, I will raise up your lovers against you, from whom your soul is alienated, and I will bring them against you on every side: 23the Babylonians and all the Chaldeans, Pekod, Shoa, Koa, and all the Assyrians with them; desirable young men, governors and rulers all of them, princes and men of renown, all of them riding on horses. 24They shall come against you with weapons, chariots, and wagons, and with a company of peoples; they shall set themselves against you with buckler and shield and helmet all around; and I will commit the judgment to them, and they shall judge you according to their judgments. 25I will set my jealousy against you, and they shall deal with you in fury; they shall take away your nose and your ears; and your residue shall fall by the sword: they shall take your sons and your daughters; and your residue shall be devoured by the fire. 26They shall also strip you of your clothes, and take away your beautiful jewels. 27Thus will I make your lewdness to cease from you, and your prostitution from the land of Egypt; so that you shall not lift up your eyes to them, nor remember Egypt any more. 28For thus says the Lord Yahweh: Behold, I will deliver you into the hand of them whom you hate, into the hand of them from whom your soul is alienated; 29and they shall deal with you in hatred, and shall take away all your labor, and shall leave you naked and bare; and the nakedness of your prostitution shall be uncovered, both your lewdness and your prostitution. 30These things shall be done to you, because you have played the prostitute after the nations, and because you are polluted with their idols. 31You have walked in the way of your sister; therefore will I give her cup into your hand. 32Thus says the Lord Yahweh: You will drink of your sister’s cup, which is deep and large; you will be ridiculed and held in derision; it contains much. 33You shall be filled with drunkenness and sorrow, with the cup of astonishment and desolation, with the cup of your sister Samaria. 34You shall even drink it and drain it out, and you shall gnaw the broken pieces of it, and shall tear your breasts; for I have spoken it, says the Lord Yahweh. 35Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: Because you have forgotten me, and cast me behind your back, therefore you also bear your lewdness and your prostitution. 36Yahweh said moreover to me: Son of man, will you judge Oholah and Oholibah? then declare to them their abominations. 37For they have committed adultery, and blood is in their hands; and with their idols have they committed adultery; and they have also caused their sons, whom they bore to me, to pass through the fire to them to be devoured. 38Moreover this they have done to me: they have defiled my sanctuary in the same day, and have profaned my Sabbaths. 39For when they had slain their children to their idols, then they came the same day into my sanctuary to profane it; and behold, thus have they done in the midst of my house. 40Furthermore you have sent for men who come from far, to whom a messenger was sent, and behold, they came; for whom you did wash yourself, paint your eyes, and decorate yourself with ornaments, 41and sit on a stately bed, with a table prepared before it, whereupon you set my incense and my oil. 42The voice of a multitude being at ease was with her: and with men of the common sort were brought drunkards from the wilderness; and they put bracelets on their hands, and beautiful crowns on their heads. 43Then I said of her who was old in adulteries, Now they will play the prostitute with her, and she with them. 44They went in to her, as they go in to a prostitute: so went they in to Oholah and to Oholibah, the lewd women. 45Righteous men, they shall judge them with the judgment of adulteresses, and with the judgment of women who shed blood; because they are adulteresses, and blood is in their hands. 46For thus says the Lord Yahweh: I will bring up a company against them, and will give them to be tossed back and forth and robbed. 47The company shall stone them with stones, and dispatch them with their swords; they shall kill their sons and their daughters, and burn up their houses with fire. 48Thus will I cause lewdness to cease out of the land, that all women may be taught not to do after your lewdness. 49They shall recompense your lewdness on you, and you shall bear the sins of your idols; and you shall know that I am the Lord Yahweh.

alzo zegt de Heere HEERE: Zie, Ik zal uw boelen, van welke uw ziel is afgetrokken, tegen u verwekken, en Ik zal hen van rondom tegen u aanbrengen. 23De kinderen van Babel en alle Chaldeen, Pekod, en Soa, en Koa, en alle kinderen van Assur met hen; gewenste jongelingen, die allen vorsten en overheden zijn, hoofdmannen en vermaarde lieden, die allen te paard rijden. 24Die zullen tegen u komen met karren, wagenen en wielen, en met een vergadering van volken, rondassen, en schilden, en helmen; zij zullen zich rondom tegen u zetten; en Ik zal voor hun aangezicht het gericht stellen, en zij zullen u richten naar hun rechten. 25En Ik zal Mijn ijver tegen u zetten, dat zij in grimmigheid met u zullen handelen; zij zullen uw neus en uw oren afnemen, en het laatste van u zal door het zwaard vallen; zij zullen uw zonen en uw dochteren wegnemen, en het laatste van u zal door het vuur verteerd worden. 26Zij zullen u ook uw klederen uittrekken, en uw sieraadtuig wegnemen. 27Zo zal Ik uw schandelijkheid van u doen ophouden, mitsgaders uw hoererij, gebracht uit Egypteland; en gij zult uw ogen naar hen niet opheffen, en aan Egypte niet meer gedenken. 28Want alzo zegt de Heere HEERE: Zie, Ik zal u overgeven in de hand dergenen, die gij haat, in de hand dergenen, van dewelken uw ziel is afgetrokken. 29Die zullen met u handelen uit haat, en al uw arbeid wegnemen, en u naakt en bloot laten, dat uw hoerenschaamte ontdekt worde, mitsgaders uw schandelijkheid en uw hoererijen. 30Deze dingen zal men u doen, dewijl gij de heidenen nagehoereerd hebt, en omdat gij u met hun drekgoden verontreinigd hebt. 31In den weg uwer zuster hebt gij gewandeld, daarom zal Ik haar beker in uw hand geven. 32Alzo zegt de Heere HEERE: Gij zult den beker uwer zuster drinken, die diep en wijd is; gij zult tot belaching en spot worden; de beker houdt veel in. 33Van dronkenschap en jammer zult gij vol worden; de beker van uw zuster Samaria is een beker der verwoesting en der eenzaamheid. 34Gij zult hem drinken en uitzuigen, en zijn scherven zult gij brijzelen, en uw borsten zult gij afrukken; want Ik heb het gesproken, spreekt de Heere HEERE. 35Daarom, alzo zegt de Heere HEERE: Omdat gij Mijner vergeten, en Mij achter uw rug geworpen hebt, zo draagt gij ook uw schandelijkheid en uw hoererijen. 36En de HEERE zeide tot mij: Mensenkind! zoudt gij Ohola en Oholiba recht geven? Ja, vertoon haar haar gruwelen. 37Want zij hebben overspel gedaan, en er is bloed in haar handen; en zij hebben met haar drekgoden overspel gedaan; daartoe hebben zij ook haar kinderen, die zij Mij gebaard hadden, voor hen door het vuur laten doorgaan, tot spijze. 38Nog hebben zij Mij dit gedaan; zij hebben Mijn heiligdom ten zelven dage verontreinigd, en Mijn sabbatten ontheiligd. 39Want als zij hun kinderen hun drekgoden geslacht hadden, zo kwamen zij op dienzelven dag in Mijn heiligdom, om dat te ontheiligen; en ziet, alzo hebben zij gedaan in het midden van Mijn huis. 40Dit is er ook, dat zij gezonden hebben tot mannen, die van verre zouden komen; tot dewelken als een bode gezonden was, ziet, zo kwamen zij, voor dewelken gij u wiest, uw ogen blankettet en u met sieraad versierdet; 41En gij zat op een heerlijk bed, voor hetwelk een tafel toegericht was, en op hetwelk gij Mijn reukwerk en Mijn olie gezet hadt. 42Als nu het geruis der menigte daarop stil was, zo zonden zij tot mannen uit de menigte der mensen, en daar werden wijnzuipers aangebracht uit de woestijn; die deden armringen aan haar handen, en een sierlijke kroon op haar hoofden. 43Toen zeide Ik van deze, die van overspelerijen verouderd was: Nu zullen zij hoereren de hoererijen dezer hoer, en die ook. 44En men ging tot haar in, gelijk men ingaat tot een vrouw, die een hoer is; alzo gingen zij in tot Ohola en tot Oholiba, die schandelijke vrouwen. 45Rechtvaardige mannen dan, die zullen haar richten naar het recht der overspeelsters, en naar het recht der bloedvergietsters; want zij zijn overspeelsters, en bloed is in haar handen. 46Want alzo zegt de Heere HEERE: Ik zal een vergadering tegen haar doen opkomen, en zal ze ter beroering en ten roof overgeven. 47En de vergadering zal ze met stenen stenigen, en dezelve met hun zwaarden nederhouwen; haar zonen en haar dochteren zullen zij doden, en haar huizen met vuur verbranden. 48Alzo zal Ik de schandelijkheid uit het land doen ophouden; opdat alle vrouwen onderwezen worden, dat zij naar uw schandelijkheid niet doen. 49Alzo zullen zij uw schandelijkheid op u leggen, en gij zult de zonden uwer drekgoden dragen; en gijlieden zult weten, dat Ik de Heere HEERE ben.
