1Năm thứ mười một, ngày mồng một tháng ba, có lời Ðức Giê-hô-va phán cùng ta như vầy: 2Hỡi con người, hãy nói cùng Pha-ra-ôn, vua Ê-díp-tô, và cùng cả đoàn dân người rằng: Sự tôn đại của ngươi so sánh cùng ai? 3Hãy xem A-si-ri: ngày trước nó giống như cây hương bách của Li-ban, nhánh đẹp đẽ, bóng diềm dà, cây cao, và ngọn nó lên đến mây. 4Các dòng nước nuôi nó, có vực sâu chảy nước chung quanh chỗ nó trồng mà làm cho nó lớn lên, và tưới các suối mình cho mọi cây cối ở trong đồng. 5Vậy nên cây hương bách ấy cao hơn hết thảy các cây trong đồng; nhánh nó lớn lên, và tược nó nứt thêm ra, là nhờ có nhiều nước làm cho nó nay nở. 6Mọi giống chim trời làm ở trong những nhánh nó; mọi giống thú đồng đẻ con dưới những tược nó, và hết thảy các dân tộc lớn đều ở dưới bóng nó. 7Nó là xinh tốt bởi thân nó cao, bởi tược nó dài; vì rễ nó đâm trong chỗ nhiều nước. 8Chẳng có cây hương bách nào trong vườn Ðức Chúa Trời che khuất nó được; cây tùng không bằng cái nhánh nó, cây bàng không bằng cái tược nó. Chẳng có cây nào của vườn Ðức Chúa Trời xinh tốt bằng nó cả. 9Ta đã làm cho nó xinh tốt bởi muôn vàn nhánh nó, và hết thảy những cây của Ê-đen, là những cây trong vườn Ðức Chúa Trời đều ganh gỗ nó. 10Vậy nên, Chúa Giê-hô-va phán như vầy: Vì ngươi cao lớn, và nó đã vượt ngọn nó đến tận mây, và lòng nó đã kiêu ngạo vì mình cao lớn; 11nên ta sẽ phó nó trong tay một đấng mạnh của các nước, người chắc sẽ xử với nó; ta đã đuổi nó ra vì những tội ác nó. 12Một dân hung bạo trong hết thảy các dân ngoại đã chặt nó và bỏ lại. Những nhánh nó rốt xuống trên các núi và trong mọi nơi trũng; những tược nó bị gãy nơi bờ khe, và mọi dân trên đất tránh xa bóng nó và lìa bỏ nó. 13Mọi loài chim trời sẽ đậu trên sự đổ nát của nó, và mọi loài thú đồng sẽ đến nghỉ trên những tược nó, 14hầu cho chẳng có cây nào trồng gần nước dám kiêu ngạo về sự cao mình, hay là vượt ngọn lên đến tận mây, và cho không có những cây nào được các dòng nước tưới rộng cho mà khoe mình cao lớn; vì chúng nó hết thảy bị phó cho sự chết, cho vực sâu của đất, ở giữa con cái loài người, với những kẻ xuống trong hầm hố! 15Chúa Giê-hô-va phán như vầy: Ngày mà nó xuống nơi âm phủ, ta đã khiến kẻ thương khóc vì cớ nó, ta lấp vực sâu; ngăn cấm các sông chảy mạnh, và những dòng nước lớn bị tắt lại. Ta khiến Li-ban buồn rầu vì cớ nó, và mọi cây ngoài đồng vì nó bị suy tàn. 16Ta làm cho các dân tộc nghe tiếng nó đổ xuống mà rúng động, khi ta quăng nó xuống đến âm phủ, với hết thảy những kẻ xuống trong hầm hố! Bấy giờ mọi cây của Ê-đen, những cây rất xinh, những cây rất tốt của Li-ban, hết thảy những cây ngày trước được nhiều nước tưới, đều được yên ủi trong nơi vực sâu của đất. 17Chúng nó cũng đã xuống với nó trong nơi âm phủ, kề những kẻ đã bị gươm giết, những kẻ ngày trước vốn là cánh tay của nó và ở dưới bóng nó giữa các dân. 18Trong những cây của vườn Ê-đen, thì ngươi là giống ai về sự vinh hiển tôn trọng? Ngươi cũng sẽ bị xô xuống cùng với các cây của Ê-đen trong nơi vực sâu của đất; ngươi sẽ nằm chính giữa những kẻ không chịu cắt bì, với những kẻ đã bị gươm giết. Pha-ra-ôn và hết thảy dân chúng người sẽ như vầy, Chúa Giê-hô-va phán.
1In the eleventh year, in the third month, in the first day of the month, Yahweh’s word came to me, saying, 2Son of man, tell Pharaoh king of Egypt, and to his multitude: Whom are you like in your greatness? 3Behold, the Assyrian was a cedar in Lebanon with beautiful branches, and with a forest-like shade, and of high stature; and its top was among the thick boughs. 4The waters nourished it, the deep made it to grow: its rivers ran all around its plantation; and it sent out its channels to all the trees of the field. 5Therefore its stature was exalted above all the trees of the field; and its boughs were multiplied, and its branches became long by reason of many waters, when it spread them out. 6All the birds of the sky made their nests in its boughs; and under its branches all the animals of the field gave birth to their young; and all great nations lived under its shadow. 7Thus was it beautiful in its greatness, in the length of its branches; for its root was by many waters. 8The cedars in the garden of God could not hide it; the fir trees were not like its boughs, and the plane trees were not as its branches; nor was any tree in the garden of God like it in its beauty. 9I made it beautiful by the multitude of its branches, so that all the trees of Eden, that were in the garden of God, envied it. 10Therefore thus said the Lord Yahweh: Because you are exalted in stature, and he has set his top among the thick boughs, and his heart is lifted up in his height; 11I will even deliver him into the hand of the mighty one of the nations; he shall surely deal with him; I have driven him out for his wickedness. 12Strangers, the terrible of the nations, have cut him off, and have left him: on the mountains and in all the valleys his branches are fallen, and his boughs are broken by all the watercourses of the land; and all the peoples of the earth are gone down from his shadow, and have left him. 13On his ruin all the birds of the sky shall dwell, and all the animals of the field shall be on his branches; 14to the end that none of all the trees by the waters exalt themselves in their stature, neither set their top among the thick boughs, nor that their mighty ones stand up on their height, even all who drink water: for they are all delivered to death, to the lower parts of the earth, in the midst of the children of men, with those who go down to the pit. 15Thus says the Lord Yahweh: In the day when he went down to Sheol I caused a mourning: I covered the deep for him, and I restrained its rivers; and the great waters were stayed; and I caused Lebanon to mourn for him, and all the trees of the field fainted for him. 16I made the nations to shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him down to Sheol with those who descend into the pit; and all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, were comforted in the lower parts of the earth. 17They also went down into Sheol with him to those who are slain by the sword; yes, those who were his arm, who lived under his shadow in the midst of the nations. 18To whom are you thus like in glory and in greatness among the trees of Eden? yet you will be brought down with the trees of Eden to the lower parts of the earth: you shall lie in the midst of the uncircumcised, with those who are slain by the sword. This is Pharaoh and all his multitude, says the Lord Yahweh.
1Het gebeurde ook in het elfde jaar, in de derde maand, op den eersten der maand, dat des HEEREN woord tot mij geschiedde, zeggende: 2Mensenkind! zeg tot Farao, den koning van Egypte, en tot zijn menigte: Wien zijt gij gelijk in uw grootheid? 3Zie, Assur was een ceder op den Libanon, schoon van takken, schaduwachtig van loof, en hoog van stam, en zijn top was tussen dichte takken. 4De wateren maakten hem groot, de afgrond maakte hem hoog; die ging met zijn stromen rondom zijn planting, en zond zijn waterleidingen uit tot alle bomen des velds. 5Daarom werd zijn stam hoger dan alle bomen des velds; en zijn takjes werden menigvuldig, en zijn scheuten lang, vanwege de grote wateren, als hij uitschoot. 6Alle vogelen des hemels nestelden op zijn takjes, en alle dieren des velds teelden onder zijn scheuten; en alle grote volken zaten onder zijn schaduw. 7Alzo was hij schoon in zijn grootheid en in de lengte zijner takken, omdat zijn wortel aan grote wateren was. 8De cederen in Gods hof verduisterden hem niet, de dennebomen waren zijn takken niet gelijk, en de kastanjebomen waren niet gelijk zijn scheuten; geen boom in Gods hof was hem gelijk in zijn schoonheid. 9Ik had hem zo schoon gemaakt door de veelheid zijner takken, dat alle bomen van Eden, die in Gods hof waren, hem benijdden. 10Daarom, zo zegt de Heere HEERE: Omdat gij u verheven hebt over uw stam, ja, hij stak zijn top op boven het midden der dichte takken, en zijn hart verhief zich over zijn hoogte; 11Daarom gaf Ik hem in de hand van den machtigste der heidenen, dat die hem rechtschapen zou behandelen; Ik dreef hem uit om zijn goddeloosheid. 12En vreemden, de tirannigste der heidenen, roeiden hem uit en verlieten hem; zijn takken vielen op de bergen en in alle valleien, en zijn scheuten werden verbroken bij alle stromen des lands; en alle volken der aarde gingen af uit zijn schaduw, en verlieten hem. 13Alle vogelen des hemels woonden op zijn omgevallen stam, en alle dieren des velds waren op zijn scheuten; 14Opdat zich geen waterrijke bomen verheffen over hun stam, en hun top niet opsteken boven het midden der dichte takken, en geen bomen, die water drinken, op zichzelven staan vanwege hun hoogte; want zij zijn allen overgegeven ter dood, tot het onderste der aarde, in het midden der mensenkinderen, tot degenen, die in den kuil nederdalen. 15Zo zegt de Heere HEERE: Ten dage, als hij ter helle nederdaalde, maakte Ik een treuren; Ik bedekte om zijnentwil den afgrond, en weerde de stromen van dien, en de grote wateren werden geschut; en Ik maakte den Libanon om zijnentwil zwart, en al het geboomte des velds was om zijnentwil bewonden. 16Van het geluid zijns vals deed Ik de heidenen beven, als Ik hem ter helle deed nederdalen, met degenen, die in den kuil nederdalen; en alle bomen van Eden, de keur en het beste van Libanon, alle bomen, die water drinken, troostten zich in het onderste der aarde. 17Diezelve daalden ook met hem neder ter helle, tot de verslagenen van het zwaard; en die zijn arm geweest waren, die onder zijn schaduw in het midden der heidenen gezeten hadden. 18Wien zijt gij alzo gelijk in heerlijkheid en grootheid, onder de bomen van Eden? Ja, gij zult nedergevoerd worden met de bomen van Eden, tot het onderste der aarde; in het midden der onbesnedenen zult gij liggen, met de verslagenen door het zwaard. Dat is Farao, en zijn ganse menigte, spreekt de Heere HEERE.
