1De David. Ne t’irrite pas contre les méchants, N’envie pas ceux qui font le mal. 2Car ils sont fauchés aussi vite que l’herbe, Et ils se flétrissent comme le gazon vert. 3Confie-toi en l’Éternel, et pratique le bien ; Aie le pays pour demeure et la fidélité pour pâture. 4Fais de l’Éternel tes délices, Et il te donnera ce que ton cœur désire. 5Recommande ton sort à l’Éternel, Mets en lui ta confiance, et il agira. 6Il fera paraître ta justice comme la lumière, Et ton droit comme le soleil à son midi. 7Garde le silence devant l’Éternel, et espère en lui ; Ne t’irrite pas contre celui qui réussit dans ses voies, Contre l’homme qui vient à bout de ses mauvais desseins. 8Laisse la colère, abandonne la fureur ; Ne t’irrite pas, ce serait mal faire. 9Car les méchants seront retranchés, Et ceux qui espèrent en l’Éternel posséderont le pays. 10Encore un peu de temps, et le méchant n’est plus ; Tu regardes le lieu où il était, et il a disparu. 11Les misérables possèdent le pays, Et ils jouissent abondamment de la paix. 12Le méchant forme des projets contre le juste, Et il grince des dents contre lui. 13Le Seigneur se rit du méchant, Car il voit que son jour arrive. 14Les méchants tirent le glaive, Ils bandent leur arc, Pour faire tomber le malheureux et l’indigent, Pour égorger ceux dont la voie est droite. 15Leur glaive entre dans leur propre cœur, Et leurs arcs se brisent. 16Mieux vaut le peu du juste Que l’abondance de beaucoup de méchants ; 17Car les bras des méchants seront brisés, Mais l’Éternel soutient les justes. 18L’Éternel connaît les jours des hommes intègres, Et leur héritage dure à jamais. 19Ils ne sont pas confondus au temps du malheur, Et ils sont rassasiés aux jours de la famine. 20Mais les méchants périssent, Et les ennemis de l’Éternel, comme les plus beaux pâturages ; Ils s’évanouissent, ils s’évanouissent en fumée. 21Le méchant emprunte, et il ne rend pas ; Le juste est compatissant, et il donne. 22Car ceux que bénit l’Éternel possèdent le pays, Et ceux qu’il maudit sont retranchés. 23L’Éternel affermit les pas de l’homme, Et il prend plaisir à sa voie ; 24S’il tombe, il n’est pas terrassé, Car l’Éternel lui prend la main. 25J’ai été jeune, j’ai vieilli ; Et je n’ai point vu le juste abandonné, Ni sa postérité mendiant son pain. 26Toujours il est compatissant, et il prête ; Et sa postérité est bénie. 27Détourne-toi du mal, fais le bien, Et possède à jamais ta demeure. 28Car l’Éternel aime la justice, Et il n’abandonne pas ses fidèles ; Ils sont toujours sous sa garde, Mais la postérité des méchants est retranchée. 29Les justes posséderont le pays, Et ils y demeureront à jamais. 30La bouche du juste annonce la sagesse, Et sa langue proclame la justice. 31La loi de son Dieu est dans son cœur ; Ses pas ne chancellent point. 32Le méchant épie le juste, Et il cherche à le faire mourir. 33L’Éternel ne le laisse pas entre ses mains, Et il ne le condamne pas quand il est en jugement. 34Espère en l’Éternel, garde sa voie, Et il t’élèvera pour que tu possèdes le pays ; Tu verras les méchants retranchés. 35J’ai vu le méchant dans toute sa puissance ; Il s’étendait comme un arbre verdoyant. 36Il a passé, et voici, il n’est plus ; Je le cherche, et il ne se trouve plus. 37Observe celui qui est intègre, et regarde celui qui est droit ; Car il y a une postérité pour l’homme de paix. 38Mais les rebelles sont tous anéantis, La postérité des méchants est retranchée. 39Le salut des justes vient de l’Éternel ; Il est leur protecteur au temps de la détresse. 40L’Éternel les secourt et les délivre ; Il les délivre des méchants et les sauve, Parce qu’ils cherchent en lui leur refuge.
1Don’t fret because of evildoers, neither be envious against those who work unrighteousness. 2For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither like the green herb. 3Trust in Yahweh, and do good. Dwell in the land, and enjoy safe pasture. 4Also delight yourself in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart. 5Commit your way to Yahweh. Trust also in him, and he will do this: 6he will make your righteousness go out as the light, and your justice as the noon day sun. 7Rest in Yahweh, and wait patiently for him. Don’t fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who makes wicked plots happen. 8Cease from anger, and forsake wrath. Don’t fret, it leads only to evildoing. 9For evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait for Yahweh shall inherit the land. 10For yet a little while, and the wicked will be no more. Yes, though you look for his place, he isn’t there. 11But the humble shall inherit the land, and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace. 12The wicked plots against the just, and gnashes at him with his teeth. 13The Lord will laugh at him, for he sees that his day is coming. 14The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, to kill those who are upright on the path. 15Their sword shall enter into their own heart. Their bows shall be broken. 16Better is a little that the righteous has, than the abundance of many wicked. 17For the arms of the wicked shall be broken, but Yahweh upholds the righteous. 18Yahweh knows the days of the perfect. Their inheritance shall be forever. 19They shall not be disappointed in the time of evil. In the days of famine they shall be satisfied. 20But the wicked shall perish. The enemies of Yahweh shall be like the beauty of the fields. They will vanish— vanish like smoke. 21The wicked borrow, and don’t pay back, but the righteous give generously. 22For such as are blessed by him shall inherit the land. Those who are cursed by him shall be cut off. 23A man’s goings are established by Yahweh. He delights in his way. 24Though he stumble, he shall not fall, for Yahweh holds him up with his hand. 25I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his children begging for bread. 26All day long he deals graciously, and lends. His seed is blessed. 27Depart from evil, and do good. Live securely forever. 28For Yahweh loves justice, and doesn’t forsake his saints. They are preserved forever, but the children of the wicked shall be cut off. 29The righteous shall inherit the land, and live in it forever. 30The mouth of the righteous talks of wisdom. His tongue speaks justice. 31The law of his God is in his heart. None of his steps shall slide. 32The wicked watches the righteous, and seeks to kill him. 33Yahweh will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged. 34Wait for Yahweh, and keep his way, and he will exalt you to inherit the land. When the wicked are cut off, you shall see it. 35I have seen the wicked in great power, spreading himself like a green tree in its native soil. 36But he passed away, and behold, he was not. Yes, I sought him, but he could not be found. 37Mark the perfect man, and see the upright, for there is a future for the man of peace. 38As for transgressors, they shall be destroyed together. The future of the wicked shall be cut off. 39But the salvation of the righteous is from Yahweh. He is their stronghold in the time of trouble. 40Yahweh helps them, and rescues them. He rescues them from the wicked, and saves them, Because they have taken refuge in him.

De goddelozen hebben het zwaard uitgetrokken, en hun boog gespannen, om den ellendige en nooddruftige neder te vellen, om te slachten, die oprecht van weg zijn. 15Hun zwaard zal in hunlieder hart gaan; en hun bogen zullen verbroken worden. 16Teth. Het weinige, dat de rechtvaardige heeft, is beter dan de overvloed veler goddelozen. 17Want de armen der goddelozen zullen verbroken worden; maar de HEERE ondersteunt de rechtvaardigen. 18Jod. De HEERE kent de dagen der oprechten; en hun erfenis zal in eeuwigheid blijven. 19Zij zullen niet beschaamd worden in den kwade tijd, en in de dagen des hongers zullen zij verzadigd worden. 20Caph. Maar de goddelozen zullen vergaan, en de vijanden des HEEREN zullen verdwijnen, als het kostelijkste der lammeren; met den rook zullen zij verdwijnen. 21Lamed. De goddeloze ontleent en geeft niet weder; maar de rechtvaardige ontfermt zich, en geeft. 22Want zijn gezegenden zullen de aarde erfelijk bezitten; maar zijn vervloekten zullen uitgeroeid worden. 23Mem. De gangen deszelven mans worden van den HEERE bevestigd; en Hij heeft lust aan zijn weg. 24Als hij valt, zo wordt hij niet weggeworpen, want de HEERE ondersteunt zijn hand. 25Nun. Ik ben jong geweest, ook ben ik oud geworden, maar heb niet gezien den rechtvaardige verlaten, noch zijn zaad zoekende brood. 26Den gansen dag ontfermt hij zich, en leent; en zijn zaad is tot zegening. 27Samech. Wijk af van het kwade, en doe het goede, en woon in eeuwigheid. 28Want de HEERE heeft het recht lief, en zal Zijn gunstgenoten niet verlaten; in eeuwigheid worden zij bewaard; maar het zaad der goddelozen wordt uitgeroeid. 29De rechtvaardigen zullen de aarde erfelijk bezitten, en in eeuwigheid daarop wonen. 30Pe. De mond des rechtvaardigen vermeldt wijsheid, en zijn tong spreekt het recht. 31De wet zijns Gods is in zijn hart; zijn gangen zullen niet slibberen. 32Tsade. De goddeloze loert op den rechtvaardige, en zoekt hem te doden. 33Maar de HEERE laat hem niet in zijn hand; en Hij verdoemt hem niet, als hij geoordeeld wordt. 34Koph. Wacht op den HEERE, en houd Zijn weg, en Hij zal u verhogen, om de aarde erfelijk te bezitten; gij zult zien, dat de goddelozen worden uitgeroeid. 35Resch. Ik heb gezien een gewelddrijvende goddeloze, die zich uitbreidde als een groene inlandse boom. 36Maar hij ging door, en zie, hij was er niet meer; en ik zocht hem, maar hij werd niet gevonden. 37Schin. Let op den vrome, en zie naar den oprechte; want het einde van dien man zal vrede zijn. 38Maar de overtreders worden te zamen verdelgd. het einde der goddelozen wordt uitgeroeid. 39Thau. Doch het heil der rechtvaardigen is van den HEERE; hun Sterkte ter tijd van benauwdheid. 40En de HEERE zal hen helpen, en zal hen bevrijden; Hij zal ze bevrijden van de goddelozen, en zal ze behouden; want zij betrouwen op Hem.
