1Fugi, ó filhos de Benjamim, do meio de Jerusalém; e tocai trombeta em Tecoa, e levantai um sinal de fumaça sobre Bete-Haquerém; porque do norte já se vê o desastre e grande destruição. 2Destruirei a filha de Sião ainda que seja formosa e delicada. 3A ela virão pastores com seus rebanhos; levantarão contra ela tendas ao redor; e cada um apascentará em seu lugar. 4Preparai guerra contra ela; levantai-vos e subamos até o meio-dia! Ai de nós! que vai caindo já o dia, que as sombras da tarde já estão se estendendo. 5Levantai-vos, e subamos de noite, e destruamos seus palácios. 6Porque assim diz o SENHOR dos exércitos: Cortai árvores, e levantai cercos junto a Jerusalém; esta é a cidade que tem de ser punida; opressão há no meio dela. 7Tal como a fonte jorra suas águas, assim também ela constantemente jorra sua malícia; violência e destruição se ouve nela; continuamente há enfermidade e feridas perante mim. 8Corrige-te, Jerusalém, para que minha alma não se afaste de ti, para que eu não te torne desolada, uma terra não habitada. 9Assim diz o SENHOR dos exércitos: Sacudirão por completo o restante de Israel tal como a vide; volta tua mão aos cestos como alguém que colhe uvas. 10A quem falarei e testemunharei, para que ouçam? Eis que que seus ouvidos são incircuncisos, e não podem escutar; eis que a palavra do SENHOR lhes é coisa vergonhosa, não gostam dela. 11Por isso estou cheio dá fúria do SENHOR, e cansado estou de retê -la ; eu a derramarei sobre os meninos pelas ruas, e sobre a reunião dos jovens juntamente; porque até o marido com a mulher serão presos, e o velho com o cheio de dias. 12E suas casas passarão a ser de outros, suas propriedades e juntamente suas mulheres; porque estenderei minha mão contra os moradores da terra, diz o SENHOR. 13Porque desde o menor deles até o maior deles, cada um deseja com ganância; e desde o profeta até o sacerdote, todos agem com falsidade. 14E curam a ferida da filha de meu povo apenas superficialmente, dizendo, Paz, paz; sem que haja paz. 15Eles se envergonham de fazerem abominação? Não, não se envergonham de maneira nenhuma, nem sequer sabem ter vergonha. Por isso cairão entre os que caem; tropeçarão quando eu os visitar, diz o SENHOR. 16Assim diz o SENHOR: Ficai parados nos caminhos, e vede, e perguntai pelas veredas antigas, qual é o bom caminho, e andai por ele; então achareis descanso para vossa alma. Mas disseram: Não andaremos. 17Também pus vigilantes sobre vós, que dissessem: Prestai atenção à voz da trombeta. Mas eles disseram: Não prestaremos atenção. 18Portanto ouvi, ó nações, e saiba disto, o multidão que nelas está; 19Ouve tu, ó terra: Eis que eu trarei mal sobre este povo: o fruto de seus pensamentos; pois não dão atenção a minhas palavras, e rejeitam a minha lei. 20Afinal, para que vem a mim o incenso de Sabá, e a boa cana aromática de uma terra distante? Vossas ofertas de queima não me são aceitáveis, nem vossos sacrifícios me são agradáveis. 21Portanto assim diz o SENHOR: Eis que porei tropeços a este povo, e cairão neles juntamente os pais e os filhos; o vizinho e seu companheiro perecerão. 22Assim diz o SENHOR: Eis que vem um povo da terra do norte; e uma grande nação se levantará dos confins da terra. 23Eles trarão arco e lança; são cruéis, que não terão misericórdia; a voz deles rugirá como o mar, e sobre cavalo cavalgarão, como homens dispostos para a guerra contra ti, ó filha de Sião. 24Nós ouvimos a fama deles, e nossas mãos perderam a força; fomos tomados pela angústia, e dor como de mulher no parto. 25Não saiais ao campo, nem andeis pelo caminho; porque a espada do inimigo e o terror está ao redor. 26Tu, filha de meu povo, veste-te de saco, e revolve-te em cinza; chora de luto como por um filho único, pranto de amarguras; porque logo virá sobre nós o destruidor. 27Eu te pus por avaliador e por fortaleza entre meu povo, para que reconheças, e examines o caminho deles. 28Todos eles são os mais teimosos rebeldes, que vivem enganando; são duros como cobre e ferro: todos eles são corruptos. 29O fole já se queimou, o chumbo já se consumiu pelo fogo; em vão é feita a fundição, pois os maus não são arrancados. 30Eles são chamados prata rejeitada, porque o SENHOR os rejeitou.
1“Flee for safety, you children of Benjamin, out of the midst of Jerusalem, and blow the trumpet in Tekoa, and raise up a signal on Beth Haccherem; for evil looks out from the north, and a great destruction. 2The comely and delicate one, the daughter of Zion, will I cut off. 3Shepherds with their flocks shall come to her; they shall pitch their tents against her all around; they shall feed everyone in his place.” 4“Prepare war against her; arise, and let us go up at noon. Woe to us! For the day declines, for the shadows of the evening are stretched out. 5Arise, and let us go up by night, and let us destroy her palaces.” 6For Yahweh of Armies said, “Cut down trees, and cast up a mound against Jerusalem: this is the city to be visited; she is wholly oppression in the midst of her. 7As a well produces its waters, so she produces her wickedness: violence and destruction is heard in her; before me continually is sickness and wounds. 8Be instructed, Jerusalem, lest my soul be alienated from you; lest I make you a desolation, a land not inhabited.” 9Thus says Yahweh of Armies, “They shall thoroughly glean the remnant of Israel like a vine. Turn again your hand as a grape gatherer into the baskets.” 10To whom shall I speak and testify, that they may hear? Behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they can’t listen. Behold, Yahweh’s word has become a reproach to them. They have no delight in it. 11Therefore I am full of the wrath of Yahweh. I am weary with holding in. “Pour it out on the children in the street, and on the assembly of young men together; for even the husband with the wife shall be taken, the aged with him who is full of days. 12Their houses shall be turned to others, their fields and their wives together; for I will stretch out my hand on the inhabitants of the land, says Yahweh.” 13“For from their least even to their greatest, everyone is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even to the priest, everyone deals falsely. 14They have healed also the hurt of my people superficially, saying, ‘Peace, peace!’ when there is no peace. 15Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? No, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush. Therefore they shall fall among those who fall; at the time that I visit them, they shall be cast down,” says Yahweh. 16Thus says Yahweh, “Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, ‘Where is the good way?’ and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’ 17I set watchmen over you, saying, ‘Listen to the sound of the trumpet!’ But they said, ‘We will not listen!’ 18Therefore hear, you nations, and know, congregation, what is among them. 19Hear, earth! Behold, I will bring evil on this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not listened to my words; and as for my law, they have rejected it. 20To what purpose comes there to me frankincense from Sheba, and the sweet cane from a far country? your burnt offerings are not acceptable, nor your sacrifices pleasing to me.” 21Therefore thus says Yahweh, “Behold, I will lay stumbling blocks before this people. The fathers and the sons together shall stumble against them. The neighbor and his friend shall perish.” 22Thus says Yahweh, “Behold, a people comes from the north country. A great nation shall be stirred up from the uttermost parts of the earth. 23They take hold of bow and spear. They are cruel, and have no mercy. Their voice roars like the sea, and they ride on horses, everyone set in array, as a man to the battle, against you, daughter of Zion.” 24We have heard its report; our hands become feeble: anguish has taken hold of us, and pains as of a woman in labor. 25Don’t go out into the field, nor walk by the way; for the sword of the enemy and terror, are on every side. 26Daughter of my people, clothe yourself with sackcloth, and wallow in ashes! Mourn, as for an only son, most bitter lamentation; for the destroyer shall suddenly come on us. 27“I have made you a tester of metals and a fortress among my people; that you may know and try their way. 28They are all grievous rebels, going about with slanders; they are brass and iron: they all of them deal corruptly. 29The bellows blow fiercely; the lead is consumed of the fire: in vain do they go on refining; for the wicked are not plucked away. 30Men will call them rejected silver, because Yahweh has rejected them.”
1Vlucht met hopen, gij kinderen van Benjamin! uit het midden van Jeruzalem, en blaast de bazuin te Thekoa, en heft een vuurteken op te Beth-Cherem; want er kijkt een kwaad uit van het noorden, en een grote breuk. 2Ik heb wel de dochter Sions bij een schone en wellustige vrouw vergeleken. 3Maar er zullen herders tot haar komen met hun kudden; zij zullen tenten rondom tegen haar opslaan; zij zullen een iegelijk zijn ruimte afweiden. 4Heiligt den krijg tegen haar, maakt u op, en laat ons optrekken op den middag; o, wee ons! want de dag heeft zich gewend, want de avondschaduwen neigen zich. 5Maakt u op, en laat ons optrekken in den nacht, en haar paleizen verderven! 6Want zo zegt de HEERE der heirscharen: Houwt bomen af, en werpt een wal op tegen Jeruzalem; zij is de stad, die bezocht zal worden; in het midden van haar is enkel verdrukking. 7Gelijk een bornput zijn water opgeeft, alzo geeft zij haar boosheid op; geweld en verstoring wordt in haar gehoord, weedom en plaging is steeds voor Mijn aangezicht. 8Laat u tuchtigen, Jeruzalem! opdat Mijn ziel niet van u afgetrokken worde, opdat Ik u niet stelle tot een woestheid, tot een onbewoond land. 9Zo zegt de HEERE der heirscharen: Zij zullen Israels overblijfsel vlijtiglijk nalezen, gelijk een wijnstok; breng uw hand weder, gelijk een wijnlezer, aan de korven. 10Tot wie zal ik spreken en betuigen, dat zij het horen? Ziet, hun oor is onbesneden, dat zij niet kunnen toeluisteren; ziet, het woord des HEEREN is hun tot een smaad, zij hebben geen lust daartoe. 11Daarom ben ik vol van des HEEREN grimmigheid, ik ben moede geworden van inhouden; ik zal ze uitstorten over de kinderkens op de straat, en over de vergadering der jongelingen te zamen; want zelfs de man met de vrouw zullen gevangen worden, de oude met dien, die vol is van dagen. 12En hun huizen zullen omgewend worden tot anderen, met te zamen de akkers en vrouwen; want Ik zal Mijn hand uitstrekken tegen de inwoners dezes lands, spreekt de HEERE. 13Want van hun kleinste aan tot hun grootste toe pleegt een ieder van hen gierigheid, en van den profeet aan tot den priester toe bedrijft een ieder van hen valsheid. 14En zij genezen de breuk van de dochter Mijns volks op het lichtste, zeggende: Vrede, vrede! doch daar is geen vrede. 15Zijn zij beschaamd, omdat zij gruwel bedreven hebben? Ja, zij schamen zich in het minste niet, weten ook niet van schaamrood te maken; daarom zullen zij vallen onder de vallenden, ten tijde als Ik hen bezoeken zal, zullen zij struikelen, zegt de HEERE. 16Zo zegt de HEERE: Staat op de wegen, en ziet toe, en vraagt naar de oude paden, waar toch de goede weg zij, en wandelt daarin; zo zult gij rust vinden voor uw ziel; maar zij zeggen: Wij zullen daarin niet wandelen. 17Ik heb ook wachters over ulieden gesteld, zeggende: Luistert naar het geluid der bazuin; maar zij zeggen: Wij zullen niet luisteren. 18Daarom hoort, gij heidenen! en verneem, o gij vergadering! wat onder hen is. 19Hoor toe, gij aarde! Zie, Ik zal een kwaad brengen over dit volk, de vrucht hunner gedachten; want zij merken niet op Mijn woorden, en Mijn wet verwerpen zij. 20Waartoe zal dan de wierook voor Mij uit Scheba komen, en de beste kalmus uit verren lande? Uw brandofferen zijn Mij niet behagelijk, en uw slachtofferen zijn Mij niet zoet. 21Daarom zegt de HEERE alzo: Ziet, Ik zal dit volk allerlei aanstoot stellen; en daaraan zullen zich stoten te zamen vaders en kinderen, de nabuur en zijn metgezel, en zullen omkomen. 22Zo zegt de HEERE: Ziet, er komt een volk uit het land van het noorden, en een grote natie zal opgewekt worden uit de zijden der aarde. 23Boog en spies zullen zij voeren, het is een wreed volk, en zij zullen niet barmhartig zijn; hun stem zal bruisen als de zee, en op paarden zullen zij rijden; het is toegerust, als een man ten oorlog tegen u, o dochter van Sion! 24Wij hebben zijn gerucht gehoord, onze handen zijn slap geworden; benauwdheid heeft ons aangegrepen, weedom als van een barende vrouw. 25Gaat niet uit in het veld, noch wandelt op den weg; want des vijands zwaard is er, schrik van rondom! 26O dochter Mijns volks! gord een zak aan, en wentel u in de as, maak u rouw eens enigen zoons, een zeer bitter misbaar; want de verstoorder zal ons snellijk overkomen. 27Ik heb u onder Mijn volk gesteld, tot een wachttoren, tot een vesting; opdat gij hun weg zoudt weten en proeven. 28Zij zijn allen de afvalligsten der afvalligen, wandelende in achterklap; zij zijn koper en ijzer; zij zijn altemaal verdervers. 29De blaasbalg is verbrand, het lood is van het vuur verteerd; te vergeefs heeft de smelter zo vlijtiglijk gesmolten, dewijl de bozen niet afgetrokken zijn. 30Men noemt ze een verworpen zilver; want de HEERE heeft hen verworpen.
