1Palavra que veio do SENHOR a Jeremias, (quando Nabucodonosor rei da Babilônia, e todo o seu exército, e todos os reinos da terra que estavam sob o domínio de sua mão, e todos os povos, lutavam contra Jerusalém e contra todas as suas cidades), dizendo: 2Assim diz o SENHOR Deus de Israel: Vai, e fala a Zedequias rei de Judá, e dize-lhe: Assim diz o SENHOR: Eis que eu dou esta cidade na mão do rei de Babilônia, e ele a queimará no fogo; 3E tu não escaparás de sua mão; ao contrário, certamente serás preso, e serás entregue na mão dele; e teus olhos verão os olhos do rei da Babilônia, e ele te falará face a face, e entrarás na Babilônia. 4Ainda assim, ouve a palavra do SENHOR, ó Zedequias rei de Judá; assim diz o SENHOR quanto ti: Tu não morrerás à espada; 5Em paz morrerás, e conforme às cerimônias de queimas por teus pais, os primeiros reis, que foram antes de ti, assim queimarão por ti, e prantearão por ti, dizendo: Ai, senhor!; pois eu disse esta palavra, diz o SENHOR. 6E o profeta Jeremias falou a Zedequias, rei de Judá, todas estas palavras em Jerusalém, 7Enquanto o exército do rei de Babilônia lutava contra Jerusalém e contra todas as cidades de Judá que haviam restado: contra Laquis, e contra Azeca; pois essas cidades fortificadas haviam restado dentre as cidades de Judá. 8Palavra que veio do SENHOR a Jeremias, depois que o rei Zedequias fez um pacto com todo o povo em Jerusalém, para lhes proclamar liberdade; 9Que cada um libertasse seu servo, e cada um sua serva, hebreu ou hebreia; de maneira que ninguém usasse dos seus irmãos judeus como servos. 10E atenderam todos os príncipes, e todo o povo, que entraram no pacto de cada um libertar a seu servo e cada um libertar sua serva, de maneira que ninguém usasse mais deles como servos, atenderam, e os liberaram. 11Porém depois se arrependeram, e trouxeram de volta os servos e as servas que haviam libertado, e os sujeitaram para serem servos e servas. 12Então veio a palavra do SENHOR a Jeremias, de parte do SENHOR, dizendo: 13Assim diz o SENHOR, Deus de Israel: Eu fiz um pacto com vossos pais no dia em que os tirei da terra do Egito, da casa de servos, dizendo: 14Ao fim de sete anos libertareis cada um a seu irmão hebreu que te for vendido, e tiver servido a ti por seis anos; e o deixarás livre de ti; mas vossos pais não me ouviram, nem inclinaram seu ouvidos. 15E recentemente vós havíeis vos convertido, e tínheis feito o correto em meus olhos, proclamando cada um liberdade a seu próximo; e havíeis feito um pacto diante de minha presença, na casa sobre que se chama pelo meu nome: 16Porém mudastes de ideia e profanastes o meu nome, e trouxestes de volta cada um a seu servo e cada um sua serva, os quais já havíeis libertado à vontade deles; e os sujeitastes para que sejam vossos servos e servas. 17Portanto assim diz o SENHOR: Vós não me ouvistes em proclamar cada um liberdade a seu irmão, e cada um a seu companheiro; eis que eu vos proclamo liberdade, diz o SENHOR, para a espada, para a pestilência, e para a fome; e eu vos tornarei em motivo de espanto a todos os reinos da terra. 18E entregarei os homens que transgrediram meu pacto, que não cumpriram as palavras do pacto que fizeram diante de mim, dividindo em duas partes o bezerro e passando entre de seus pedaços: 19Os príncipes de Judá e os príncipes de Jerusalém, os eunucos e os sacerdotes, e todo o povo da terra, que passaram entre os pedaços do bezerro, 20Eu os entregarei na mão de seus inimigos, e na mão dos que buscam tirar sua vida; e seus cadáveres serão alimento para as aves do céu, e para os animais da terra. 21E até a Zedequias, rei de Judá, e a seus príncipes, entregarei na mão de seus inimigos, e na mão dos que buscam tirar sua vida, e na mão do exército do rei da Babilônia, que se retiraram de vós. 22Eis que eu darei ordem, diz o SENHOR, e os farei voltarem a esta cidade; e lutarão contra ela, e a tomarão, e a queimarão a fogo; e tornarei em desolação as cidades de Judá, de modo que não haja morador.
1The word which came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and all his army, and all the kingdoms of the earth that were under his dominion, and all the peoples, were fighting against Jerusalem, and against all the cities of it, saying: 2Thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, Go, and speak to Zedekiah king of Judah, and tell him, Thus says Yahweh, Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire: 3and you shall not escape out of his hand, but shall surely be taken, and delivered into his hand; and your eyes shall see the eyes of the king of Babylon, and he shall speak with you mouth to mouth, and you shall go to Babylon. 4Yet hear Yahweh’s word, O Zedekiah king of Judah: thus says Yahweh concerning you, You shall not die by the sword; 5you shall die in peace; and with the burnings of your fathers, the former kings who were before you, so shall they make a burning for you; and they shall lament you, saying, Ah Lord! for I have spoken the word, says Yahweh. 6Then Jeremiah the prophet spoke all these words to Zedekiah king of Judah in Jerusalem, 7when the king of Babylon’s army was fighting against Jerusalem, and against all the cities of Judah that were left, against Lachish and against Azekah; for these alone remained of the cities of Judah as fortified cities. 8The word that came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, after that the king Zedekiah had made a covenant with all the people who were at Jerusalem, to proclaim liberty to them; 9that every man should let his male servant, and every man his female servant, who is a Hebrew or a Hebrewess, go free; that no one should make bondservants of them, of a Jew his brother. 10All the princes and all the people obeyed, who had entered into the covenant, that everyone should let his male servant, and everyone his female servant, go free, that no one should make bondservants of them any more; they obeyed, and let them go: 11but afterwards they turned, and caused the servants and the handmaids, whom they had let go free, to return, and brought them into subjection for servants and for handmaids. 12Therefore Yahweh’s word came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying, 13Thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel: I made a covenant with your fathers in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage, saying, 14At the end of seven years you shall let go every man his brother who is a Hebrew, who has been sold to you, and has served you six years, you shall let him go free from you: but your fathers didn’t listen to me, neither inclined their ear. 15You had now turned, and had done that which is right in my eyes, in proclaiming liberty every man to his neighbor; and you had made a covenant before me in the house which is called by my name: 16but you turned and profaned my name, and caused every man his servant, and every man his handmaid, whom you had let go free at their pleasure, to return; and you brought them into subjection, to be to you for servants and for handmaids. 17Therefore thus says Yahweh: you have not listened to me, to proclaim liberty, every man to his brother, and every man to his neighbor: behold, I proclaim to you a liberty, says Yahweh, to the sword, to the pestilence, and to the famine; and I will make you to be tossed back and forth among all the kingdoms of the earth. 18I will give the men who have transgressed my covenant, who have not performed the words of the covenant which they made before me, when they cut the calf in two and passed between its parts; 19the princes of Judah, and the princes of Jerusalem, the eunuchs, and the priests, and all the people of the land, who passed between the parts of the calf; 20I will even give them into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of those who seek their life; and their dead bodies shall be for food to the birds of the sky, and to the animals of the earth. 21Zedekiah king of Judah and his princes will I give into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of those who seek their life, and into the hand of the king of Babylon’s army, who have gone away from you. 22Behold, I will command, says Yahweh, and cause them to return to this city; and they shall fight against it, and take it, and burn it with fire: and I will make the cities of Judah a desolation, without inhabitant.
1Het woord, dat tot Jeremia geschied is van den HEERE (als Nebukadrezar, koning van Babel, en zijn ganse heir, en alle koninkrijken der aarde, die onder de heerschappij zijner hand waren, en al de volken tegen Jeruzalem streden, en tegen al haar steden), zeggende: 2Zo zegt de HEERE, de God Israels: Ga henen en spreek tot Zedekia, den koning van Juda, en zeg tot hem: Zo zegt de HEERE: Zie, Ik geef deze stad in de hand des konings van Babel, en hij zal ze met vuur verbranden. 3En gij zult van zijn hand niet ontkomen, maar zekerlijk gegrepen, en in zijn hand gegeven worden; en uw ogen zullen de ogen des konings van Babel zien, en zijn mond zal tot uw mond spreken, en gij zult te Babel komen. 4Maar hoor des HEEREN woord, o Zedekia, koning van Juda! zo zegt de HEERE van u: Gij zult door het zwaard niet sterven. 5Gij zult sterven in vrede, en naar de brandingen van uw vaderen, de vorige koningen, die voor u geweest zijn, alzo zullen zij over u branden, en u beklagen, zeggende: Och heer! want Ik heb het woord gesproken, spreekt de HEERE. 6En de profeet Jeremia sprak al deze woorden tot Zedekia, den koning van Juda, te Jeruzalem. 7Als het heir des konings van Babel streed tegen Jeruzalem, en tegen al de overgeblevene steden van Juda, tegen Lachis en tegen Azeka; want deze, zijnde vaste steden, waren overgebleven onder de steden van Juda. 8Het woord, dat tot Jeremia geschied is van den HEERE, nadat de koning Zedekia een verbond gemaakt had met het ganse volk, dat te Jeruzalem was, om vrijheid voor hen uit te roepen. 9Dat een iegelijk zijn knecht, en een iegelijk zijn maagd, zijnde een Hebreer of een Hebreinne, zou laten vrijgaan; zodat niemand zich van hen, van een Jood, zijn broeder, zou doen dienen. 10Nu hoorden al de vorsten en al het volk, die het verbond hadden ingegaan, dat zij, een iegelijk zijn knecht, en een iegelijk zijn maagd zouden laten vrijgaan, zodat zij zich niet meer van hen zouden doen dienen; zij hoorden dan, en lieten hen gaan; 11Maar zij keerden daarna wederom, en deden de knechten en maagden wederkomen, die zij hadden laten vrijgaan, en zij brachten hen ten onder tot knechten en tot maagden. 12Daarom geschiedde des HEEREN woord tot Jeremia, van den HEERE, zeggende: 13Zo zegt de HEERE, de God Israels: Ik heb een verbond gemaakt met uw vaderen, ten dage, als Ik hen uit Egypteland, uit het diensthuis uitvoerde, zeggende: 14Ten einde van zeven jaren zult gij laten gaan, een iegelijk zijn broeder, een Hebreer, die u zal verkocht zijn, en u zes jaren gediend heeft; gij zult hem dan van u laten vrijgaan; maar uw vaders hoorden niet naar Mij, en neigden hun oor niet. 15Gijlieden nu waart heden wedergekeerd, en hadt gedaan, dat recht is in Mijn ogen, vrijheid uitroepende, een iegelijk voor zijn naaste; en gij hadt een verbond gemaakt voor Mijn aangezicht, in het huis, dat naar Mijn Naam genoemd is. 16Maar gij zijt weder omgekeerd, en hebt Mijn Naam ontheiligd, en doen wederkomen, een iegelijk zijn knecht, en een iegelijk zijn maagd, die gij hadt laten vrijgaan naar hun lust; en gij hebt hen ten ondergebracht, om ulieden te wezen tot knechten en tot maagden. 17Daarom zegt de HEERE alzo: Gijlieden hebt naar Mij niet gehoord, om vrijheid uit te roepen, een iegelijk voor zijn broeder, en een iegelijk voor zijn naaste; ziet, zo roep Ik uit tegen ulieden, spreekt de HEERE, een vrijheid ten zwaarde, ter pestilentie, en ten honger, en zal u overgeven ter beroering allen koninkrijken der aarde. 18En Ik zal de mannen overgeven, die Mijn verbond hebben overtreden, die niet bevestigd hebben de woorden des verbonds, dat zij voor Mijn aangezicht gemaakt hadden, met het kalf, dat zij in tweeen hadden gehouwen, en waren tussen zijn stukken doorgegaan: 19De vorsten van Juda, en de vorsten van Jeruzalem, de kamerlingen, en de priesteren, en al het volk des lands, die door de stukken des kalfs zijn doorgegaan. 20Ja, Ik zal hen overgeven in de hand hunner vijanden, en in de hand dergenen, die hun ziel zoeken; en hun dode lichamen zullen het gevogelte des hemels en het gedierte der aarde tot spijze zijn. 21Zelfs Zedekia, den koning van Juda, en zijn vorsten, zal Ik overgeven in de hand hunner vijanden, en in de hand dergenen, die hun ziel zoeken, te weten, in de hand van het heir des konings van Babel, die van ulieden nu zijn opgetogen. 22Ziet, Ik zal bevel geven, spreekt de HEERE, en zal hen weder tot deze stad brengen, en zij zullen tegen haar strijden, en zullen ze innemen, en zullen ze met vuur verbranden; en Ik zal de steden van Juda stellen tot een verwoesting, dat er niemand in wone.
