1Ðức Giê-hô-va bèn phán cùng Môi-se rằng: Hãy đi ra mắt Pha-ra-ôn mà tâu rằng: Giê-hô-va, là Ðức Chúa Trời của dân Hê-bơ-rơ, có phán như vầy: Hãy tha dân ta đi, đặng chúng nó hầu việc ta; 2vì nếu ngươi từ chối không tha đi, còn cầm lại nữa, 3nầy tay của Ðức Giê-hô-va sẽ tra vào các súc vật của người ngoài đồng, vào ngựa, lừa, lạc đà, bò và chiên: sẽ có dịch lệ rất lớn. 4Ðức Giê-hô-va sẽ phân biệt súc vật của dân Y-sơ-ra-ên cùng súc vật của người Ê-díp-tô, sẽ chẳng có một con nào của dân Y-sơ-ra-ên bị chết. 5Ðức Giê-hô-va định kỳ mà rằng: Ðến mai, Ðức Giê-hô-va sẽ làm sự đó tại trong xứ. 6Vừa đến mai, Ðức Giê-hô-va làm sự đó, hết thảy súc vật của người Ê-díp-tô đều chết; nhưng của dân Y-sơ-ra-ên chẳng chết một con nào. 7Pha-ra-ôn sai người đi xét, thấy chẳng có một con súc vật nào của dân Y-sơ-ra-ên chết hết. Nhưng Pha-ra-ôn rắn lòng, chẳng cho dân sự đi. 8Ðức Giê-hô-va bèn phán cùng Môi-se và A-rôn rằng: Hãy hốt trong trong lò đầy tay các ngươi, rồi tại trước mặt Pha-ra-ôn, Môi-se sẽ vải tro đó lên trời. 9Tro sẽ hóa thành bụi khắp cả xứ Ê-díp-tô, và sanh nhiều ghẻ chốc cương mủ trên mình người và súc vật trong khắp cả xứ Ê-díp-tô. 10Vậy, hai người hốt tro trong lò, đứng trước mặt Pha-ra-ôn, rồi Môi-se vải tro lên trời, thì sanh ra ghẻ chốc cương mủ trên mình người ta và súc vật. 11Các thuật sĩ đứng trước mặt Môi-se không được, vì cớ ghẻ chốc đã sanh trên mình các thuật sĩ như trên mình của hết thảy người Ê-díp-tô. 12Ðức Giê-hô-va làm cho Pha-ra-ôn cứng lòng, không nghe Môi-se và A-rôn chút nào, y như lời Ðức Giê-hô-va đã phán cùng Môi-se. 13Ðoạn, Ðức Giê-hô-va phán cùng Môi-se rằng: Ngươi hãy thức dậy sớm, ra mắt Pha-ra-ôn mà tâu rằng: Giê-hô-va, là Ðức Chúa Trời của dân Hê-bơ-rơ, có phán như vầy: Hãy tha dân ta đi, để chúng nó hầu việc ta; 14vì lần nầy ta sẽ giáng các tai nạn cho lòng ngươi, quần thần, và dân sự ngươi, hầu cho ngươi biết rằng khắp thế gian chẳng có ai bằng ta. 15Nếu bây giờ, ta đã giơ tay ra hành hại ngươi bịnh dịch, thì ngươi cùng dân ngươi đều đã bị diệt khỏi đất rồi. 16Nhưng vì cớ nầy ta để ngươi còn sống, là cho ngươi thấy quyền năng của ta, hầu cho danh ta đồn khắp cả thiên hạ. 17Nếu ngươi còn cản trở, không để cho dân ta đi, 18thì mai, tại giờ nầy, ta sẽ làm một đám mưa đá lớn, đến đỗi tại xứ Ê-díp-tô từ khi khai sáng cho đến ngày nay chẳng có đám mưa nào giống như vậy. 19Thế thì, bây giờ hãy sai đem lục súc và mọi vật thuộc về ngươi ở ngoài đồng vào, cho khỏi hiểm nghèo. Mưa đá sẽ rớt xuống trên mọi người và vật đang ở ngoài đồng không vào nhà, thì sẽ chết hết. 20Những kẻ nào trong quần thần Pha-ra-ôn có lòng kính sợ lời Ðức Giê-hô-va, lật đật rút đầy tớ và súc vật mình về nhà; 21còn kẻ nào chẳng chú ý về lời Ðức Giê-hô-va, thì để đầy tớ và súc vật mình ở ngoài đồng. 22Ðức Giê-hô-va bèn phán cùng Môi-se rằng: Hãy giơ tay ngươi lên trời, làm mưa đá rớt xuống trên cả xứ Ê-díp-tô, trên mình người, súc vật, và khắp rau cỏ ngoài đồng. 23Môi-se bèn giơ gậy mình lên trời, Ðức Giê-hô-va làm cho sấm động, mưa đá sa, lửa chạy trên mặt đất. Vậy, Ðức Giê-hô-va khiến mưa đá sa trên xứ Ê-díp-tô. 24Vả, có mưa đá sa xuống và lửa cháy rất mạnh pha lộn với, đến nỗi từ khi xứ Ê-díp-tô lập quốc đến giờ, chẳng có giống như vậy. 25Thế thì, trong cả xứ Ê-díp-tô, mưa đá làm hại mọi vật ở ngoài đồng, nào người ta, nào súc vật, nào rau-cỏ, và làm gãy cây cối nữa. 26Chỉ đất Gô-sen, là nơi dân Y-sơ-ra-ên ở, chẳng có mưa đá mà thôi. 27Pha-ra-ôn bèn truyền đòi Môi-se và A-rôn mà phán rằng: Lần nầy trẫm đã phạm tội; Ðức Giê-hô-va là công bình; trẫm cùng dân sự trẫm là kẻ phạm tội. 28Hãy cầu nguyện Ðức Giê-hô-va, hầu cho tan sấm sét và mưa đá; rồi trẫm sẽ tha các ngươi đi, không đợi lâu nữa đâu. 29Môi-se bèn đáp rằng: Vừa khi tôi ra khỏi thành, tôi sẽ giơ tay lên Ðức Giê-hô-va, sấm sét sẽ lặng, mưa đá sẽ tan, hầu cho bệ hạ biết rằng trái đất thuộc về Ðức Giê-hô-va. 30Nhưng tôi biết rằng bệ hạ và quần thần chưa kính sợ Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời. 31Vả, trong lúc đó, lúa mạch trổ bông, cây gai có hoa, nên lúa mạch và gai bị đập nát; 32còn lúa mì và tiểu mạch trổ muộn, nên không bị đập. 33Vậy, Môi-se lui khỏi Pha-ra-ôn, đi ra thành, giơ tay lên Ðức Giê-hô-va, sấm sét và mưa đá tạnh, mưa bèn ngớt hột trên mặt đất. 34Khi Pha-ra-ôn thấy mưa, mưa đá và sấm sét đã tạnh rồi, người và quần thần lại rắn lòng, cứ phạm tội nữa. 35Vậy Pha-ra-ôn cứng lòng, không tha dân Y-sơ-ra-ên đi, y như lời Ðức Giê-hô-va đã cậy Môi-se mà phán.
1Then Yahweh said to Moses, “Go in to Pharaoh, and tell him, ‘This is what Yahweh, the God of the Hebrews, says: “Let my people go, that they may serve me. 2For if you refuse to let them go, and hold them still, 3behold, the hand of Yahweh is on your livestock which are in the field, on the horses, on the donkeys, on the camels, on the herds, and on the flocks with a very grievous pestilence. 4Yahweh will make a distinction between the livestock of Israel and the livestock of Egypt; and nothing shall die of all that belongs to the children of Israel.”’” 5Yahweh appointed a set time, saying, “Tomorrow Yahweh shall do this thing in the land.” 6Yahweh did that thing on the next day; and all the livestock of Egypt died, but of the livestock of the children of Israel, not one died. 7Pharaoh sent, and, behold, there was not so much as one of the livestock of the Israelites dead. But the heart of Pharaoh was stubborn, and he didn’t let the people go. 8Yahweh said to Moses and to Aaron, “Take to you handfuls of ashes of the furnace, and let Moses sprinkle it toward the sky in the sight of Pharaoh. 9It shall become small dust over all the land of Egypt, and shall be a boil breaking out with boils on man and on animal, throughout all the land of Egypt.” 10They took ashes of the furnace, and stood before Pharaoh; and Moses sprinkled it up toward the sky; and it became a boil breaking out with boils on man and on animal. 11The magicians couldn’t stand before Moses because of the boils; for the boils were on the magicians, and on all the Egyptians. 12Yahweh hardened the heart of Pharaoh, and he didn’t listen to them, as Yahweh had spoken to Moses. 13Yahweh said to Moses, “Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh, and tell him, ‘This is what Yahweh, the God of the Hebrews, says: “Let my people go, that they may serve me. 14For this time I will send all my plagues against your heart, against your officials, and against your people; that you may know that there is no one like me in all the earth. 15For now I would have stretched out my hand, and struck you and your people with pestilence, and you would have been cut off from the earth; 16but indeed for this cause I have made you stand: to show you my power, and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth; 17as you still exalt yourself against my people, that you won’t let them go. 18Behold, tomorrow about this time I will cause it to rain a very grievous hail, such as has not been in Egypt since the day it was founded even until now. 19Now therefore command that all of your livestock and all that you have in the field be brought into shelter. Every man and animal that is found in the field, and isn’t brought home, the hail shall come down on them, and they shall die.”’” 20Those who feared Yahweh’s word among the servants of Pharaoh made their servants and their livestock flee into the houses. 21Whoever didn’t respect Yahweh’s word left his servants and his livestock in the field. 22Yahweh said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward the sky, that there may be hail in all the land of Egypt, on man, and on animal, and on every herb of the field, throughout the land of Egypt.” 23Moses stretched out his rod toward the heavens, and Yahweh sent thunder, hail, and lightning flashed down to the earth. Yahweh rained hail on the land of Egypt. 24So there was very severe hail, and lightning mixed with the hail, such as had not been in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation. 25The hail struck throughout all the land of Egypt all that was in the field, both man and animal; and the hail struck every herb of the field, and broke every tree of the field. 26Only in the land of Goshen, where the children of Israel were, there was no hail. 27Pharaoh sent, and called for Moses and Aaron, and said to them, “I have sinned this time. Yahweh is righteous, and I and my people are wicked. 28Pray to Yahweh; for there has been enough of mighty thunderings and hail. I will let you go, and you shall stay no longer.” 29Moses said to him, “As soon as I have gone out of the city, I will spread abroad my hands to Yahweh. The thunders shall cease, neither shall there be any more hail; that you may know that the earth is Yahweh’s. 30But as for you and your servants, I know that you don’t yet fear Yahweh God.” 31The flax and the barley were struck, for the barley was in the ear, and the flax was in bloom. 32But the wheat and the spelt were not struck, for they had not grown up. 33Moses went out of the city from Pharaoh, and spread abroad his hands to Yahweh; and the thunders and hail ceased, and the rain was not poured on the earth. 34When Pharaoh saw that the rain and the hail and the thunders were ceased, he sinned yet more, and hardened his heart, he and his servants. 35The heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he didn’t let the children of Israel go, just as Yahweh had spoken through Moses.

Doch het hart van Farao werd verzwaard, en hij liet het volk niet trekken. 8Toen zeide de HEERE tot Mozes en tot Aaron: Neemt gijlieden uw vuisten vol as uit den oven; en Mozes strooie die naar de hemel voor de ogen van Farao. 9En zij zal tot klein stof worden over het ganse Egypteland; en zij zal aan de mensen, en aan het vee worden tot zweren, uitbrekende met blaren, in het ganse Egypteland. 10En zij namen as uit den oven, en stonden voor Farao's aangezicht; en Mozes strooide die naar den hemel; toen werden er zweren, uitbrekende met blaren, aan de mensen en aan het vee; 11Alzo dat de tovenaars voor Mozes niet staan konden, vanwege de zweren; want aan de tovenaars waren zweren, en aan al de Egyptenaren. 12Doch de HEERE verstokte Farao's hart, dat hij naar hen niet hoorde, gelijk de HEERE tot Mozes gesproken had. 13Toen zeide de HEERE tot Mozes: Maak u morgen vroeg op, en stel u voor Farao's aangezicht, en zeg tot hem: Zo zegt de HEERE, de God der Hebreen: Laat Mijn volk trekken, dat zij Mij dienen. 14Want ditmaal zal Ik al Mijn plagen in uw hart zenden, en over uw knechten, en over uw volk, opdat gij weet, dat er niemand is gelijk Ik, op de ganse aarde. 15Want nu heb Ik Mijn hand uitgestrekt, opdat Ik u en uw volk met de pestilentie zou slaan, en dat gij van de aarde zoudt verdelgd worden. 16Maar waarlijk, daarom heb Ik u verwekt, opdat Ik Mijn kracht aan u betoonde, en opdat men Mijn Naam vertelle op de ganse aarde. 17Verheft gij uzelven nog tegen Mijn volk, dat gij het niet wilt laten trekken? 18Zie, Ik zal morgen omtrent dezen tijd een zeer zware hagel doen regenen, desgelijks in Egypte niet geweest is van dien dag af, dat het gegrond is, tot nu toe. 19En nu, zend heen, vergader uw vee, en alles wat gij op het veld hebt; alle mens en gedierte, dat op het veld gevonden zal worden, en niet in huis verzameld zal zijn, als deze hagel op hen vallen zal, zo zullen zij sterven. 20Wie onder Farao's knechten des HEEREN woord vreesde, die deed zijn knechten en zijn vee in de huizen vlieden; 21Doch die zijn hart niet zette tot des HEEREN woord, die liet zijn knechten en zijn vee op het veld. 22Toen zeide de HEERE tot Mozes: Strek uw hand uit naar den hemel, en er zal hagel zijn in het ganse Egypteland; over de mensen, en over het vee, en over al het kruid des velds in Egypteland. 23Toen strekte Mozes zijn staf naar den hemel; en de HEERE gaf donder en hagel, en het vuur schoot naar de aarde; en de HEERE liet hagel regenen over Egypteland. 24En er was hagel, en vuur in het midden des hagels vervangen; hij was zeer zwaar; desgelijks is in het ganse Egypteland nooit geweest, sedert het tot een volk geweest is. 25En de hagel sloeg, in het ganse Egypteland, alles wat op het veld was, van de mensen af tot de beesten toe; ook sloeg de hagel al het kruid des velds, en verbrak al het geboomte des velds. 26Alleen in het land Gosen, waar de kinderen Israels waren, daar was geen hagel. 27Toen schikte Farao heen, en hij riep Mozes en Aaron, en zeide tot hen: Ik heb mij ditmaal verzondigd; de HEERE is rechtvaardig; ik daarentegen en mijn volk zijn goddelozen! 28Bidt vuriglijk tot den HEERE (want het is genoeg), dat geen donder Gods noch hagel meer zij; dan zal ik ulieden trekken laten, en gij zult niet langer blijven. 29Toen zeide Mozes tot hem: Wanneer ik ter stad uitgegaan zal zijn, zo zal ik mijn handen uitbreiden voor den HEERE; de donder zal ophouden, en de hagel zal niet meer zijn; opdat gij weet, dat de aarde des HEEREN is! 30Nochtans u en uw knechten aangaande, weet ik, dat gijlieden voor het aangezicht van den HEERE God nog niet vrezen zult. 31Het vlas nu, en de gerst werd geslagen; want de gerst was in de aar, en het vlas was in den halm. 32Maar de tarwe en de spelt werden niet geslagen; want zij waren bedekt. 33Zo ging Mozes van Farao ter stad uit, en breidde zijn handen tot den HEERE; de donder en de hagel hielden op, en de regen werd niet meer uitgegoten op de aarde. 34Toen Farao zag, dat de regen en hagel, en de donder ophielden, zo verzondigde hij zich verder, en hij verzwaarde zijn hart, hij en zijn knechten. 35Alzo werd Farao's hart verstokt, dat hij de kinderen Israels niet trekken liet, gelijk als de HEERE gesproken had door Mozes.
