1Vả, Môi-se chăn bầy chiên cho Giê-trô, ông gia mình, là thầy tế lễ tại xứ Ma-đi-an; dẫn bầy chiên qua phía bên kia đồng vắng, đến núi của Ðức Chúa Trời, là núi Hô-rếp. 2Thiên sứ của Ðức Giê-hô-va hiện ra cùng người trong ngọn lửa, giữa bụi gai kia. Người nhìn thấy cả bụi gai đang cháy, nhưng không hề tàn. 3Môi-se bèn nói rằng: Ta hãy tẻ bước lại đặng xem sự lạ lớn nầy, vì cớ sao bụi gai chẳng tàn chút nào. 4Ðức Giê-hô-va thấy người tẻ bước lại xem, Ðức Chúa Trời bèn ở giữa bụi gai gọi rằng: Hỡi Môi-se, hỡi Môi-se! Người thưa rằng: Có tôi đây! 5Ðức Chúa Trời phán rằng: Chớ lại gần chốn nầy, Hãy cổi giầy ngươi ra, vì chỗ ngươi đang đứng là đất thánh. 6Rồi Ngài lại nói: Ta là Ðức Chúa Trời của tổ phụ ngươi, Ðức Chúa Trời của Áp-ra-ham, Ðức Chúa Trời của Y-sác, và Ðức Chúa Trời của Gia-cốp. Môi-se liền che mặt, vì sợ nhìn đến Ðức Chúa Trời. 7Ðức Giê-hô-va phán rằng: Ta đã thấy rõ ràng sự cực khổ của dân ta tại xứ Ê-díp-tô, và có nghe thấu tiếng kêu rêu vì cớ người đốc công của nó; phải, ta biết được nỗi đau đớn của nó. 8Ta ngự xuống đặng cứu dân nầy khỏi tay người Ê-díp-tô, dẫn từ xứ ấy lên đến một xứ kia đẹp đẽ và rộng rãi, đượm sữa và mật, tức là nơi dân Ca-na-an, dân Hê-tít, dân A-mô-rít, dân Phê-rê-sít, dân Hê-vít và dân Giê-bu-sít ở. 9Nầy, tiếng kêu rêu của dân Y-sơ-ra-ên thấu đến ta, và ta đã thấy dân Ê-díp-tô hà hiếp chúng nó thể nào; 10vậy bây giờ, hãy lại đây, đặng ta sai ngươi đi đến Pha-ra-ôn, để dắt dân ta, là dân Y-sơ-ra-ên, ra khỏi xứ Ê-díp-tô. 11Môi-se bèn thưa rằng: Tôi là ai, dám đi đến Pha-ra-ôn, đặng dắt dân Y-sơ-ra-ên ra khỏi xứ Ê-díp-tô? 12Ðức Chúa Trời phán rằng: Ta sẽ ở cùng ngươi; nầy là điều làm dấu cho ngươi biết rằng ta đã sai ngươi đi: Khi ngươi dắt dân sự ra khỏi xứ Ê-díp-tô rồi, thì các ngươi sẽ phụng sự Ðức Chúa Trời tại trên núi nầy. 13Môi-se thưa cùng Ðức Chúa Trời rằng: Nầy, tôi sẽ đi đến dân Y-sơ-ra-ên, nói cùng họ rằng: Ðức Chúa Trời của tổ phụ các ngươi sai ta đến cùng các ngươi; nhưng nếu họ hỏi: Tên Ngài là chi? thì tôi nói với họ làm sao? 14Ðức Chúa Trời phán rằng: Ta là Ðấng Tự Hữu Hằng Hữu; rồi Ngài lại rằng: Hãy nói cho dân Y-sơ-ra-ên như vầy: Ðấng Tự Hữu đã sai ta đến cùng các ngươi. 15Ðức Chúa Trời lại phán cùng Môi-se rằng: Ngươi sẽ nói cho dân Y-sơ-ra-ên như vầy: Giê-hô-va, Ðức Chúa Trời của tổ phụ các ngươi, Ðức Chúa Trời của Áp-ra-ham, Ðức Chúa Trời của Y-sác, Ðức Chúa Trời của Gia-cốp, sai ta đến cùng các ngươi. Ấy đó là danh đời đời của ta, ấy sẽ là kỷ niệm của ta trải qua các đời. 16Hãy đi, hội hiệp các trưởng lão Y-sơ-ra-ên, mà nói cùng họ rằng: Giê-hô-va, Ðức Chúa Trời của tổ phụ các ngươi, Ðức Chúa Trời của Áp-ra-ham, Ðức Chúa Trời của Y-sác, Ðức Chúa Trời của Gia-cốp, đã hiện ra cùng ta mà phán rằng: Thật vậy, ta đã thăm viếng các ngươi, thấy điều họ đãi các ngươi tại xứ Ê-díp-tô, 17nên ta đã phán rằng: Ta sẽ rút các ngươi ra khỏi cảnh khổ tại xứ Ê-díp-tô, đặng đem lên xứ của dân Ca-na-an, dân Hê-tít, dân A-mô-rít, dân Phê-rê-sít, dân Hê-vít, và dân Giê-bu-sít, tức là một xứ đượm sữa và mật. 18Dân sự sẽ vâng theo lời ngươi; vậy, ngươi và các trưởng lão Y-sơ-ra-ên hãy đi yết-kiến vua xứ Ê-díp-tô mà tâu rằng: Giê-hô-va, Ðức Chúa Trời của dân Hê-bơ-rơ, đã hiện ra cùng chúng tôi. Vây bây giờ, xin để cho chúng tôi đi đến nơi đồng vắng, cách chừng ba ngày đường đặng dâng của lễ cho Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời chúng tôi. 19Vả, ta biết rằng dẫu lấy quyền lực ép buộc vua Ê-díp-tô, thì người cũng chẳng bao giờ cho các ngươi đi! 20Nhưng ta sẽ giơ tay ra hành xứ Ê-díp-tô bằng các phép lạ ta làm giữa xứ đó, sau rồi họ sẽ cho các ngươi đi. 21Ta sẽ làm cho dân nầy được ơn trước mắt người Ê-díp-tô; vậy, khi nào các ngươi ra đi, thì sẽ chẳng ra đi tay không; 22nhưng mỗi người đàn bà sẽ hỏi xin người nữ lân cận, cùng kẻ ở tạm nhà mình những đồ bằng vàng, bằng bạc và quần áo, mặc lấy cho con trai con gái mình. 1Now Moses was keeping the flock of Jethro, his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the back of the wilderness, and came to God’s mountain, to Horeb. 2Yahweh’s angel appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush. He looked, and behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. 3Moses said, “I will turn aside now, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.” 4When Yahweh saw that he turned aside to see, God called to him out of the midst of the bush, and said, “Moses! Moses!” He said, “Here I am.” 5He said, “Don’t come close. Take your sandals off of your feet, for the place you are standing on is holy ground.” 6Moreover he said, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look at God. 7Yahweh said, “I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows. 8I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey; to the place of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite. 9Now, behold, the cry of the children of Israel has come to me. Moreover I have seen the oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them. 10Come now therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh, that you may bring my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.” 11Moses said to God, “Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?” 12He said, “Certainly I will be with you. This will be the token to you, that I have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.” 13Moses said to God, “Behold, when I come to the children of Israel, and tell them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you;’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ What should I tell them?” 14God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM,” and he said, “You shall tell the children of Israel this: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’” 15God said moreover to Moses, “You shall tell the children of Israel this, ‘Yahweh, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ This is my name forever, and this is my memorial to all generations. 16Go, and gather the elders of Israel together, and tell them, ‘Yahweh, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, has appeared to me, saying, “I have surely visited you, and seen that which is done to you in Egypt; 17and I have said, I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt to the land of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite, to a land flowing with milk and honey.”’ 18They will listen to your voice, and you shall come, you and the elders of Israel, to the king of Egypt, and you shall tell him, ‘Yahweh, the God of the Hebrews, has met with us. Now please let us go three days’ journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to Yahweh, our God.’ 19I know that the king of Egypt won’t give you permission to go, no, not by a mighty hand. 20I will reach out my hand and strike Egypt with all my wonders which I will do in its midst, and after that he will let you go. 21I will give this people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, and it will happen that when you go, you shall not go empty-handed. 22But every woman shall ask of her neighbor, and of her who visits her house, jewels of silver, jewels of gold, and clothing; and you shall put them on your sons, and on your daughters. You shall plunder the Egyptians.”

En Mozes verborg zijn aangezicht, want hij vreesde God aan te zien. 7En de HEERE zeide: Ik heb zeer wel gezien de verdrukking Mijns volks, hetwelk in Egypte is, en heb hun geschrei gehoord, vanwege hun drijvers; want Ik heb hun smarten bekend. 8Daarom ben Ik nedergekomen, dat Ik het verlosse uit de hand der Egyptenaren, en het opvoere uit dit land, naar een goed en ruim land, naar een land, vloeiende van melk en honig, tot de plaats der Kanaanieten, en der Hethieten, en der Amorieten, en der Ferezieten, en der Hevieten, en der Jebusieten. 9En nu, zie, het geschrei der kinderen Israels is tot Mij gekomen; en ook heb Ik gezien de verdrukking, waarmede de Egyptenaars hen verdrukken. 10Zo kom nu, en Ik zal u tot Farao zenden, opdat gij Mijn volk (de kinderen Israels) uit Egypte voert. 11Toen zeide Mozes tot God: Wie ben ik, dat ik tot Farao zou gaan; en dat ik de kinderen Israels uit Egypte zou voeren? 12Hij dan zeide: Ik zal voorzeker met u zijn, en dit zal u een teken zijn, dat Ik u gezonden heb: wanneer gij dit volk uit Egypte geleid hebt, zult gijlieden God dienen op dezen berg. 13Toen zeide Mozes tot God: Zie, wanneer ik kom tot de kinderen Israels, en zeg tot hen: De God uwer vaderen heeft mij tot ulieden gezonden; en zij mij zeggen: Hoe is Zijn naam? wat zal ik tot hen zeggen? 14En God zeide tot Mozes: Ik ZAL ZIJN,, Die Ik ZIJN ZAL! Ook zeide Hij: Alzo zult gij tot de kinderen Israels zeggen: Ik ZAL ZIJN heeft mij tot ulieden gezonden! 15Toen zeide God verder tot Mozes: Aldus zult gij tot de kinderen Israels zeggen: De HEERE, de God uwer vaderen, de God van Abraham, de God van Izak, en de God van Jakob, heeft mij tot ulieden gezonden; dat is Mijn Naam eeuwiglijk, en dat is Mijn gedachtenis van geslacht tot geslacht. 16Ga heen, en verzamel de oudsten van Israel, en zeg tot hen: De HEERE, de God uwer vaderen, is mij verschenen, de God van Abraham, Izak en Jakob, zeggende: Ik heb ulieden getrouwelijk bezocht, en hetgeen ulieden in Egypte is aangedaan; 17Daarom heb Ik gezegd: Ik zal ulieden uit de verdrukking van Egypte opvoeren, tot het land der Kanaanieten, en der Hethieten, en der Amorieten, en der Ferezieten, en der Hevieten, en der Jebusieten; tot het land, vloeiende van melk en honig. 18En zij zullen uw stem horen; en gij zult gaan, gij en de oudsten van Israel, tot den koning van Egypte, en gijlieden zult tot hem zeggen: De HEERE, de God der Hebreen, is ons ontmoet; zo laat ons nu toch gaan den weg van drie dagen in de woestijn, opdat wij den HEERE, onzen God, offeren! 19Doch Ik weet, dat de koning van Egypte ulieden niet zal laten gaan, ook niet door een sterke hand. 20Want Ik zal Mijn hand uitstrekken, en Egypte slaan met al Mijn wonderen, die Ik in het midden van hetzelve doen zal; daarna zal hij ulieden laten vertrekken. 21En Ik zal dit volk genade geven in de ogen der Egyptenaren; en het zal geschieden, wanneer gijlieden uitgaan zult, zo zult gij niet ledig uitgaan. 22Maar elke vrouw zal van haar naburin, en van de waardin haars huizes, eisen zilveren vaten, en gouden vaten, en klederen; die zult gijlieden op uw zonen, en op uw dochteren leggen, en gij zult Egypte beroven.
