1Ðức Giê-hô-va phán cùng Môi-se rằng: 2Hãy truyền cho dân Y-sơ-ra-ên trở lại đóng trại tại trước Phi-Ha-hi-rốt, ngang Ba-anh-Sê-phôn, giữa khoảng Mít-đôn và biển. Các ngươi hãy đóng trại đối diện nơi nầy, gần biển. 3Chắc Pha-ra-ôn sẽ nói về dân Y-sơ-ra-ên rằng: Dân đó lạc đường bị khốn trong đồng vắng rồi. 4Ta sẽ làm cho Pha-ra-ôn cứng lòng, người sẽ đuổi theo dân đó; nhưng ta sẽ vì Pha-ra-ôn và cả toán binh người được rạng danh; người Ê-díp-tô sẽ biết ta là Ðức Giê-hô-va. Dân Y-sơ-ra-ên bèn làm như vậy. 5Vả, họ báo cùng vua Ê-díp-tô rằng dân Hê-bơ-rơ đã trốn đi rồi. Lòng Pha-ra-ôn và quần thần đối cùng dân đó bèn thay đổi, nói rằng: Chúng ta đã làm chi vậy, tha dân Y-sơ-ra-ên đi để khỏi phục dịch ta nữa sao? 6Pha-ra-ôn bèn thắng xe và đem dân mình theo. 7Người đem sáu trăm xe thượng hạng và hết thảy xe trong xứ Ê-díp-tô, trên mỗi xe đều có chiến binh cả. 8Ðức Giê-hô-va làm cho Pha-ra-ôn, vua xứ Ê-díp-tô, cứng lòng, đuổi theo dân Y-sơ-ra-ên; nhưng dân nầy đã ra đi một cách dạn dĩ. 9Người Ê-díp-tô và cả ngựa xe, lính kỵ, cùng toán binh của Pha-ra-ôn đều đuổi theo dân Y-sơ-ra-ên, gặp đang đóng đồn nơi bờ biển, gần Phi-ha-hi-rốt, ngang Ba-anh-Sê-phôn. 10Vả, khi Pha-ra-ôn đến gần, dân Y-sơ-ra-ên ngước mắt lên, thấy dân Ê-díp-tô đuổi theo, bèn lấy làm hãi hùng, kêu van Ðức Giê-hô-va. 11Chúng lại nói cùng Môi-se rằng: Xứ Ê-díp-tô há chẳng có nơi mộ phần, nên nỗi người mới dẫn chúng tôi vào đồng vắng đặng chết sao? Người đưa chúng tôi ra xứ Ê-díp-tô để làm chi? 12Chúng tôi há chẳng có nói cùng người tại xứ Ê-díp-tô rằng: Ðể mặc chúng tôi phục dịch dân Ê-díp-tô, vì thà rằng phục dịch họ còn hơn phải chết nơi đồng vắng? 13Môi-se đáp cùng dân sự rằng: Chớ sợ chi, hãy ở đó, rồi ngày nay xem sự giải cứu Ðức Giê-hô-va sẽ làm cho các ngươi; vì người Ê-díp-tô mà các ngươi ngó thấy ngày nay, thì chẳng bao giờ ngó thấy nữa. 14Ðức Giê-hô-va sẽ chiến cự cho, còn các ngươi cứ yên lặng. 15Ðức Giê-hô-va phán cùng Môi-se rằng: Sao ngươi kêu van ta? Hãy bảo dân Y-sơ-ra-ên cứ đi; 16còn ngươi hãy giơ gậy lên, đưa tay trên mặt biển, phân rẽ nước ra, thì dân Y-sơ-ra-ên sẽ xuống biển đi như trên đất cạn. 17Còn ta sẽ làm cho dân Ê-díp-tô cứng lòng theo dân Y-sơ-ra-ên xuống biển, rồi ta sẽ được rạng danh vì Pha-ra-ôn, cả đạo binh, binh xa, và lính kỵ người. 18Khi nào ta được rạng danh vì Pha-ra-ôn, binh xa, cùng lính kỵ người, thì người Ê-díp-tô sẽ rõ ràng ta là Ðức Giê-hô-va vậy. 19Thiên sứ của Ðức Chúa Trời đã đi trước trại quân của dân Y-sơ-ra-ên lộn lại đi sau; còn trụ mây vốn đi trước trại quân, lại ở về sau; 20trụ mây đứng về giữa khoảng trại người Ê-díp-tô và trại dân Y-sơ-ra-ên, làm áng mây tối tăm cho đàng nầy, soi sáng ban đêm cho đàng kia; nên trọn cả đêm hai trại chẳng hề xáp gần nhau được. 21Vả, Môi-se giơ tay ra trên biển, Ðức Giê-hô-va dẫn trận gió đông thổi mạnh đến đùa biển lại trọn cả đêm; Ngài làm cho biển bày ra khô, nước phân rẽ. 22Dân Y-sơ-ra-ên xuống biển, đi như trên đất cạn; còn nước làm thành một tấm vách ngăn bên hữu và bên tả. 23Người Ê-díp-tô bèn đuổi theo; hết thảy ngựa, binh xa cùng lính kỵ của Pha-ra-ôn đều theo xuống giữa biển. 24Vả, đến canh sáng, Ðức Giê-hô-va ở trong lòng trụ mây và lửa, nhìn ra thấy trại quân Ê-díp-tô, bèn làm cho họ phải rối loạn. 25Ngài tháo bánh xe của họ, khiến dẫn dắt cực nhọc. Người Ê-díp-tô bèn nói nhau rằng: Ta hãy trốn khỏi dân Y-sơ-ra-ên đi, vì Ðức Giê-hô-va thế dân đó mà chiến cự cùng chúng ta. 26Ðức Giê-hô-va phán cùng Môi-se rằng: Hãy giơ tay ngươi ra trên biển, nước sẽ trở lấp người Ê-díp-tô, binh xa và lính kỵ của chúng nó. 27Môi-se bèn giơ tay mình ra trên biển, lối sáng mai, nước trở lấp phủ đáy biển lại, người Ê-díp-tô chạy trốn bị nước chận; vậy Ðức Giê-hô-va xô họ xuống giữa biển. 28Thế thì, nước trở lại bao phủ binh xa, lính kỵ của cả đạo binh Pha-ra-ôn đã theo dân Y-sơ-ra-ên xuống biển, chẳng còn sót lại một ai. 29Song dân Y-sơ-ra-ên đi giữa biển như trên đất cạn; nước làm thành vách ngăn bên hữu và bên tả. 30Trong ngày đó, Ðức Giê-hô-va giải cứu dân Y-sơ-ra-ên thoát khỏi tay người Ê-díp-tô; dân ấy thấy người Ê-díp-tô chết trên bãi biển. 31Dân Y-sơ-ra-ên thấy việc lớn lao mà Ðức Giê-hô-va đã làm cho người Ê-díp-tô, nên kính sợ Ngài, tin Ngài và Môi-se, là tôi tớ Ngài.
1Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 2“Speak to the children of Israel, that they turn back and encamp before Pihahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, before Baal Zephon. You shall encamp opposite it by the sea. 3Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, ‘They are entangled in the land. The wilderness has shut them in.’ 4I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and he will follow after them; and I will get honor over Pharaoh, and over all his armies; and the Egyptians shall know that I am Yahweh.” They did so. 5It was told the king of Egypt that the people had fled; and the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants was changed towards the people, and they said, “What is this we have done, that we have let Israel go from serving us?” 6He prepared his chariot, and took his army with him; 7and he took six hundred chosen chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt, and captains over all of them. 8Yahweh hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued after the children of Israel; for the children of Israel went out with a high hand. 9The Egyptians pursued after them: all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, his horsemen, and his army; and overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baal Zephon. 10When Pharaoh drew near, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians were marching after them; and they were very afraid. The children of Israel cried out to Yahweh. 11They said to Moses, “Because there were no graves in Egypt, have you taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you treated us this way, to bring us out of Egypt? 12Isn’t this the word that we spoke to you in Egypt, saying, ‘Leave us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians?’ For it were better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.” 13Moses said to the people, “Don’t be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of Yahweh, which he will work for you today: for the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you shall never see them again. 14Yahweh will fight for you, and you shall be still.” 15Yahweh said to Moses, “Why do you cry to me? Speak to the children of Israel, that they go forward. 16Lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go into the midst of the sea on dry ground. 17Behold, I myself will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall go in after them: and I will get myself honor over Pharaoh, and over all his armies, over his chariots, and over his horsemen. 18The Egyptians shall know that I am Yahweh, when I have gotten myself honor over Pharaoh, over his chariots, and over his horsemen.” 19The angel of God, who went before the camp of Israel, moved and went behind them; and the pillar of cloud moved from before them, and stood behind them. 20It came between the camp of Egypt and the camp of Israel; and there was the cloud and the darkness, yet gave it light by night: and the one didn’t come near the other all the night. 21Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and Yahweh caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all the night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. 22The children of Israel went into the midst of the sea on the dry ground, and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand, and on their left. 23The Egyptians pursued, and went in after them into the midst of the sea: all of Pharaoh’s horses, his chariots, and his horsemen. 24In the morning watch, Yahweh looked out on the Egyptian army through the pillar of fire and of cloud, and confused the Egyptian army. 25He took off their chariot wheels, and they drove them heavily; so that the Egyptians said, “Let’s flee from the face of Israel, for Yahweh fights for them against the Egyptians!” 26Yahweh said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the waters may come again on the Egyptians, on their chariots, and on their horsemen.” 27Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to its strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it. Yahweh overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea. 28The waters returned, and covered the chariots and the horsemen, even all Pharaoh’s army that went in after them into the sea. There remained not so much as one of them. 29But the children of Israel walked on dry land in the midst of the sea, and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand, and on their left. 30Thus Yahweh saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore. 31Israel saw the great work which Yahweh did to the Egyptians, and the people feared Yahweh; and they believed in Yahweh, and in his servant Moses.
1Toen sprak de HEERE tot Mozes, zeggende: 2Spreek tot de kinderen Israels, dat zij wederkeren, en zich legeren voor Pi-Hachiroth, tussen Migdol en tussen de zee, voor Baal-Zefon; daar tegenover zult gij u legeren aan de zee. 3Farao dan zal zeggen van de kinderen Israels: Zij zijn verward in het land; die woestijn heeft hen besloten. 4En Ik zal Farao's hart verstokken, dat hij hen najage; en Ik zal aan Farao en aan al zijn heir verheerlijkt worden, alzo dat de Egyptenaars zullen weten, dat Ik de HEERE ben. En zij deden alzo. 5Toen nu de koning van Egypte werd geboodschapt, dat het volk vluchtte, zo is het hart van Farao en van zijn knechten veranderd tegen het volk, en zij zeiden: Waarom hebben wij dat gedaan, dat wij Israel hebben laten trekken, dat zij ons niet dienden? 6En hij spande zijn wagen aan, en nam zijn volk met zich. 7En hij nam zeshonderd uitgelezene wagens, ja, al de wagens van Egypte, en de hoofdlieden over die allen. 8Want de HEERE verstokte het hart van Farao, den koning van Egypte, dat hij de kinderen Israels najaagde; doch de kinderen Israels waren door een hoge hand uitgegaan. 9En de Egyptenaars jaagden hen na, en achterhaalden hen, daar zij zich gelegerd hadden aan de zee; al de paarden, de wagens van Farao en zijn ruiters, en zijn heir; nevens Pi-Hachiroth, voor Baal-Zefon. 10Als Farao nabij gekomen was, zo hieven de kinderen Israels hun ogen op, en ziet, de Egyptenaars togen achter hen; en zij vreesden zeer; toen riepen de kinderen Israels tot den HEERE. 11En zij zeiden tot Mozes: Hebt gij ons daarom, omdat er in Egypte gans geen graven waren, weggenomen, opdat wij in deze woestijn sterven zouden? Waarom hebt gij ons dat gedaan, dat gij ons uit Egypte gevoerd hebt? 12Is dit niet het woord, dat wij in Egypte tot u spraken, zeggende: Houd af van ons, en laat ons de Egyptenaren dienen? Want het ware ons beter geweest de Egyptenaren te dienen, dan in deze woestijn te sterven. 13Doch Mozes zeide tot het volk: Vreest niet, staat vast, en ziet het heil des HEEREN, dat Hij heden aan ulieden doen zal, want de Egyptenaars, die gij heden gezien hebt, zult gij niet weder zien in eeuwigheid. 14De HEERE zal voor ulieden strijden, en gij zult stil zijn. 15Toen zeide de HEERE tot Mozes: Wat roept gij tot Mij? Zeg den kinderen Israels, dat zij voorttrekken. 16En gij, hef uw staf op, en strek uw hand uit over de zee, en klief dezelve, dat de kinderen Israels door het midden der zee gaan op het droge. 17En Ik, zie, Ik zal het hart der Egyptenaren verstokken, dat zij na hen daarin gaan; en Ik zal verheerlijkt worden aan Farao en aan al zijn heir, aan zijn wagenen en aan zijn ruiteren. 18En de Egyptenaars zullen weten, dat Ik de HEERE ben, wanneer Ik verheerlijkt zal worden aan Farao, aan zijn wagenen en aan zijn ruiteren. 19En de Engel Gods, Die voor het heir van Israel ging, vertrok, en ging achter hen; de wolkkolom vertrok ook van hun aangezicht, en stond achter hen. 20En zij kwamen tussen het leger der Egyptenaren, en tussen het leger van Israel; en de wolk was te gelijk duisternis en verlichtte den nacht; zodat de een tot den ander niet naderde den gansen nacht. 21Toen Mozes zijn hand uitstrekte over de zee, zo deed de HEERE de zee weggaan, door een sterken oostenwind, dien gansen nacht, en maakte de zee droog, en de wateren werden gekliefd. 22En de kinderen Israels zijn ingegaan in het midden van de zee, op het droge; en de wateren waren hun een muur, aan hun rechter hand en aan hun linkerhand. 23En de Egyptenaars vervolgden hen, en gingen in, achter hen, al de paarden van Farao, zijn wagenen en zijn ruiteren, in het midden van de zee. 24En het geschiedde in dezelfde morgenwake, dat de HEERE, in de kolom des vuurs en der wolk, zag op het leger der Egyptenaren; en Hij verschrikte het leger der Egyptenaren. 25En Hij stiet de raderen hunner wagenen weg, en deed ze zwaarlijk voortvaren. Toen zeiden de Egyptenaars: Laat ons vlieden van het aangezicht van Israel, want de HEERE strijdt voor hen tegen de Egyptenaars. 26En de HEERE zeide tot Mozes: Strek uw hand uit over de zee, dat de wateren wederkeren over de Egyptenaars, over hun wagenen en over hun ruiters. 27Toen strekte Mozes zijn hand uit over de zee; en de zee kwam weder, tegen het naken van den morgenstond, tot haar kracht; en de Egyptenaars vluchtten die tegemoet; en de HEERE stortte de Egyptenaars in het midden der zee. 28Want als de wateren wederkeerden, zo bedekten zij de wagenen en de ruiters van het ganse heir van Farao, dat hen nagevolgd was in de zee; er bleef niet een van hen over. 29Maar de kinderen Israels gingen op het droge, in het midden der zee; en de wateren waren hun een muur, aan hun rechter hand en aan hun linkerhand. 30Alzo verloste de HEERE Israel aan dien dag uit de hand der Egyptenaren; en Israel zag de Egyptenaren dood aan den oever der zee. 31Ook zag Israel de grote hand, die de HEERE aan de Egyptenaren bewezen had; en het volk vreesde den HEERE, en geloofde in den HEERE, en aan Mozes, Zijn knecht.
