1Ví ai bắt trộm bò hay chiên, rồi giết hoặc bán đi, thì phải thường năm con bò cho một con, và bốn con chiên cho một con. 2Nếu kẻ trộm đang cạy cửa mà bị bắt và đánh chết đi, thì kẻ đánh chết chẳng phải tội sát nhân. 3Song nếu đánh chết trong khi mặt trời đã mọc rồi, thì bị tội sát nhân. Kẻ trộm phải bồi thường; bằng chẳng có chi, thì sẽ bị bán vì tội trộm cắp mình. 4Nếu vật mà kẻ trộm đã lấy, hoặc bò, lừa hay chiên, hãy còn thấy sống trong tay, thì kẻ trộm phải bồi thường gấp hai. 5Ngộ ai làm hư hại trong ruộng hay là vườn nho, thả súc vật mình vào ăn trong ruộng người khác, thì ai đó phải lấy hoa lợi tốt nhất của ruộng hay là vườn nho mình mà thường bồi. 6Nếu lửa nổi đốt bụi gai và cháy lan qua lúa đã bó, mùa màng, hay là đồng ruộng, thì kẻ nổi lửa đó phải bồi thường trọn mọi vật đã bị cháy. 7Khi ai giao tiền bạc bay đồ vật cho kẻ lân cận mình giữ, rủi bị trộm cắp tại nhà kẻ lân cận đó, nếu tên trộm đã bị bắt được, thì nó phải thường gấp hai. 8Nếu kẻ trộm không bị bắt được, thì chủ nhà cho gởi phải dẫn đến trước mặt Ðức Chúa Trời, đặng thề rằng mình chẳng hề đặt tay vào tài vật của kẻ lân cận mình. 9Trong mọi việc gian lận nào, hoặc về một con bò, một con lừa, một con chiên, áo xống hay là một vật chi bị mất, mà có người nói rằng: "quả thật là đồ đó", thì phải đem duyên cớ hai đàng đến trước mặt Ðức Chúa Trời; kẻ nào bị Ngài xử phạt phải thường bồi cho kẻ lân cận mình gấp hai. 10Nhược bằng người nào giao lừa, bò, chiên, hoặc súc vật nào khác cho kẻ lân cận mình giữ và bị chết, gãy một giò hay là bị đuổi đi, không ai thấy, 11thì hai đàng phải lấy danh Ðức Giê-hô-va mà thề, hầu cho biết rằng người giữ súc vật có đặt tay trên tài vật của kẻ lân cận mình chăng. Người chủ con vật phải nhận lời thề, và người kia chẳng bồi thường. 12Còn nếu con vật bị bắt trộm, thì người lãnh giữ phải thường bồi cho chủ nó. 13Nếu con bật bị thú rừng xé chết, người lãnh giữ phải đem nó ra làm chứng, sẽ không phải bồi thường vật bị xé đó. 14Vì ai mượn người lân cận mình một con vật mà nó gãy một giò, hoặc bị chết, không có mặt chủ, thì ai đó phải bồi thường. 15Nếu chủ có mặt tại đó, thì không phải bồi thường. Nếu con vật đã cho mướn, thì giá muớn thế cho tiền bồi thường. 16Nếu kẻ nào hòa dụ và nằm với một người gái đồng trinh chưa hứa giá, thì kẻ đó phải nộp tiền sính và cưới nàng làm vợ. 17Nhược bằng cha nàng quyết từ chối không gả, thì kẻ đó phải nộp tiền bằng số tiền sính của người gái đồng trinh. 18Ngươi chớ để các đồng cốt sống. 19Kẻ nào nằm cùng một con vật sẽ bị xử tử. 20Kẻ nào tế các thần khác hơn một mình Ðức Giê-hô-va sẽ bị diệt. 21Ngươi chớ nên bạc đãi khách ngoại bang, và cũng chẳng nên hà hiếp họ, vì các ngươi đã làm khách kiều ngụ tại xứ Ê-díp-tô. 22Các ngươi chớ ức hiếp một người góa bụa hay là một kẻ mồ côi nào. 23Nếu ức hiếp họ, và họ kêu van ta, chắc ta sẽ nghe tiếng kêu của họ; 24cơn nóng giận ta phừng lên, sẽ lấy gươm giết các ngươi, thì vợ các ngươi sẽ trở nên góa bụa, và con các ngươi sẽ mồ côi. 25Trong dân ta có kẻ nghèo nàn ở cùng ngươi, nếu ngươi cho người mượn tiền, chớ xử với họ như người cho vay, và cũng chẳng nên bắt họ chịu lời. 26Nếu ngươi cầm áo xống của kẻ lân cận mình làm của tin, thì phải trả cho họ trước khi mặt trời lặn; 27vì là đồ chỉ có che thân, là áo xống che đậy da mình; người lấy chi mà ngủ? Nếu người đến kêu van ta, tất ta sẽ nghe lời người, vì ta là Ðấng hay thương xót. 28Ngươi chớ nên nói lộng ngôn cùng Ðức Chúa Trời, và cũng đừng rủa sả vua chúa của dân sự ngươi. 29Ngươi chớ trễ nải mà dâng cho ta những hoa quả đầu mùa của ngươi chứa trong vựa và rượu ép chảy nơi bàn ép. Ngươi cũng phải dâng cho ta con trai đầu lòng ngươi. 30Về phần chiên và bò ngươi cũng hãy làm như vậy; trong bảy ngày đầu, con đầu lòng ở cùng mẹ nó, qua ngày thứ tám ngươi hãy dâng nó cho ta. 31Các ngươi sẽ làm người thánh của ta, chớ nên ăn thịt chi bị thú rừng xé ở ngoài đồng; hãy liệng cho chó ăn.
1“If a man steals an ox or a sheep, and kills it, or sells it; he shall pay five oxen for an ox, and four sheep for a sheep. 2If the thief is found breaking in, and is struck so that he dies, there shall be no guilt of bloodshed for him. 3If the sun has risen on him, guilt of bloodshed shall be for him; he shall make restitution. If he has nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft. 4If the stolen property is found in his hand alive, whether it is ox, donkey, or sheep, he shall pay double. 5“If a man causes a field or vineyard to be eaten, and lets his animal loose, and it grazes in another man’s field, he shall make restitution from the best of his own field, and from the best of his own vineyard. 6“If fire breaks out, and catches in thorns so that the shocks of grain, or the standing grain, or the field are consumed; he who kindled the fire shall surely make restitution. 7“If a man delivers to his neighbor money or stuff to keep, and it is stolen out of the man’s house; if the thief is found, he shall pay double. 8If the thief isn’t found, then the master of the house shall come near to God, to find out if he hasn’t put his hand to his neighbor’s goods. 9For every matter of trespass, whether it be for ox, for donkey, for sheep, for clothing, or for any kind of lost thing, about which one says, ‘This is mine,’ the cause of both parties shall come before God. He whom God condemns shall pay double to his neighbor. 10“If a man delivers to his neighbor a donkey, an ox, a sheep, or any animal to keep, and it dies or is injured, or driven away, no man seeing it; 11the oath of Yahweh shall be between them both, whether he hasn’t put his hand to his neighbor’s goods; and its owner shall accept it, and he shall not make restitution. 12But if it is stolen from him, he shall make restitution to its owner. 13If it is torn in pieces, let him bring it for evidence. He shall not make good that which was torn. 14“If a man borrows anything of his neighbor’s, and it is injured, or dies, its owner not being with it, he shall surely make restitution. 15If its owner is with it, he shall not make it good. If it is a leased thing, it came for its lease. 16“If a man entices a virgin who isn’t pledged to be married, and lies with her, he shall surely pay a dowry for her to be his wife. 17If her father utterly refuses to give her to him, he shall pay money according to the dowry of virgins. 18“You shall not allow a sorceress to live. 19“Whoever has sex with an animal shall surely be put to death. 20“He who sacrifices to any god, except to Yahweh only, shall be utterly destroyed. 21“You shall not wrong an alien, neither shall you oppress him, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt. 22“You shall not take advantage of any widow or fatherless child. 23If you take advantage of them at all, and they cry at all to me, I will surely hear their cry; 24and my wrath will grow hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless. 25“If you lend money to any of my people with you who is poor, you shall not be to him as a creditor; neither shall you charge him interest. 26If you take your neighbor’s garment as collateral, you shall restore it to him before the sun goes down, 27for that is his only covering, it is his garment for his skin. What would he sleep in? It will happen, when he cries to me, that I will hear, for I am gracious. 28“You shall not blaspheme God, nor curse a ruler of your people. 29“You shall not delay to offer from your harvest and from the outflow of your presses. “You shall give the firstborn of your sons to me. 30You shall do likewise with your cattle and with your sheep. Seven days it shall be with its mother, then on the eighth day you shall give it to me. 31“You shall be holy men to me, therefore you shall not eat any flesh that is torn by animals in the field. 1Wanneer iemand een os, of klein vee steelt, en slacht het, of verkoopt het, die zal vijf runderen voor een os wedergeven, en vier schapen voor een stuk klein vee. 2Indien een dief gevonden wordt in het doorgraven, en hij wordt geslagen, dat hij sterft, het zal hem geen bloedschuld zijn. 3Indien de zon over hem opgegaan is, zo zal het hem een bloedschuld zijn; hij zal het volkomen wedergeven; heeft hij niet, zo zal hij verkocht worden voor zijn dieverij. 4Indien de diefstal levend in zijn hand voorzeker gevonden wordt, hetzij os, of ezel, of klein vee, hij zal het dubbel wedergeven. 5Wanneer iemand een veld, of een wijngaard laat afweiden, en hij zijn beest daarin drijft, dat het in eens anders veld weidt, die zal het van het beste zijns velds en van het beste zijns wijngaards wedergeven. 6Wanneer een vuur uitgaat, en vat de doornen, zodat de koornhoop verteerd wordt, of het staande koorn, of het veld; hij, die de brand heeft aangestoken, zal het volkomen wedergeven. 7Wanneer iemand zijn naaste geld of vaten te bewaren geeft, en het wordt uit diens mans huis gestolen; indien de dief gevonden wordt, hij zal het dubbel wedergeven. 8Indien de dief niet gevonden wordt, zo zal de heer des huizes tot de goden gebracht worden, of hij niet zijn hand aan zijns naasten have gelegd heeft. 9Over alle zaak van onrecht, over een os, over een ezel, over klein vee, over kleding, over al het verlorene, hetwelk iemand zegt, dat het zijn is, beider zaak zal voor de goden komen; wien goden verwijzen, die zal het aan zijn naaste dubbel wedergeven. 10Wanneer iemand aan zijn naaste een ezel, of os, of klein vee, of enig beest te bewaren geeft, en het sterft, of het wordt verzeerd, of weggedreven, dat het niemand ziet; 11Zo zal des HEEREN eed tussen hen beiden zijn, of hij niet zijn hand aan zijns naasten have geslagen heeft; en derzelver heer zal dien aannemen; en hij zal het niet wedergeven. 12Maar indien het van hem zekerlijk gestolen is, hij zal het zijn heer wedergeven. 13Is het gewisselijk verscheurd, dat hij het brenge tot getuige, zo zal hij het verscheurde niet wedergeven. 14En wanneer iemand van zijn naaste wat begeert, en het wordt beschadigd, of het sterft; zijn heer daar niet bij zijnde, zal hij het volkomen wedergeven. 15Indien zijn heer daarbij geweest is, hij zal het niet wedergeven; indien het gehuurd is, zo is het voor zijn huur gekomen. 16Wanneer nu iemand een maagd verlokt, die niet ondertrouwd is, en hij ligt bij haar, die zal haar zonder uitstel een bruidschat geven, dat zij hem ter vrouwe zij. 17Indien haar vader ganselijk weigert haar aan hem te geven, zo zal hij geld geven naar den bruidschat der maagden. 18De toveres zult gij niet laten leven. 19Al wie bij een beest ligt, die zal zekerlijk gedood worden. 20Wie de goden offert, behalve den HEERE alleen, die zal verbannen worden. 21Gij zult ook den vreemdeling geen overlast doen, noch hem onderdrukken; want gij zijt vreemdelingen geweest in Egypteland. 22Gij zult geen weduwe noch wees beledigen. 23Indien gij hen enigszins beledigt, en indien zij enigszins tot Mij roepen, Ik zal hun geroep zekerlijk verhoren; 24En Mijn toorn zal ontsteken, en Ik zal ulieden met het zwaard doden; en uw vrouwen zullen weduwen, en uw kinderen zullen wezen worden. 25Indien gij Mijn volk, dat bij u arm is, geld leent, zo zult gij tegen hetzelve niet zijn, als een woekeraar; gij zult op hetzelve geen woeker leggen. 26Indien gij enigszins uws naasten kleed te pand neemt, zo zult gij het hem wedergeven, eer de zon ondergaat; 27Want dat alleen is zijn deksel, het is zijn kleed over zijn huid; waarin zou hij liggen? Het zal dan geschieden, wanneer hij tot Mij roept, dat Ik het zal horen; want Ik ben genadig! 28De goden zult gij niet vloeken, en de oversten in uw volk zult gij niet lasteren. 29Uw volheid en uw tranen zult gij niet uitstellen; den eerstgeborene uwer zonen zult gij Mij geven. 30Desgelijks zult gij doen met uw ossen en met uw schapen; zeven dagen zullen zij bij hun moeder zijn, op den achtsten dag zult gij ze Mij geven. 31Gij nu zult Mij heilige lieden zijn; daarom zult gij geen vlees eten, dat op het veld verscheurd is, en zult het den hond voorwerpen.
