1Ora, se tu ubbidisci diligentemente alla voce dell’Eterno, del tuo Dio, avendo cura di mettere in pratica tutti i suoi comandamenti che oggi ti do, avverrà che l’Eterno, il tuo Dio, ti renderà eccelso sopra tutte le nazioni della terra; 2e tutte queste benedizioni verranno su te e si compiranno per te, se darai ascolto alla voce dell’Eterno, dell’Iddio tuo: 3Sarai benedetto nelle città e sarai benedetto nella campagna. 4Benedetto sarà il frutto delle tue viscere, il frutto del tuo suolo e il frutto del tuo bestiame; benedetti i parti delle tue vacche e delle tue pecore. 5Benedetti saranno il tuo paniere e la tua madia. 6Sarai benedetto al tuo entrare e benedetto al tuo uscire. 7L’Eterno farà sì che i tuoi nemici, quando si leveranno contro di te, siano sconfitti dinanzi a te; usciranno contro a te per una via, e per sette vie fuggiranno d’innanzi a te. 8L’Eterno ordinerà alla benedizione d’esser teco ne’ tuoi granai e in tutto ciò a cui metterai mano; e ti benedirà nel paese che l’Eterno, il tuo Dio, ti dà. 9L’Eterno ti stabilirà perché tu gli sia un popolo santo, come t’ha giurato, se osserverai i comandamenti dell’Eterno, ch’è il tuo Dio, e se camminerai nelle sue vie; 10e tutti i popoli della terra vedranno che tu porti il nome dell’Eterno, e ti temeranno. 11L’Eterno, il tuo Dio, ti colmerà di beni, moltiplicando il frutto delle tue viscere, il frutto del tuo bestiame e il frutto del tuo suolo, nel paese che l’Eterno giurò ai tuoi padri di darti. 12L’Eterno aprirà per te il suo buon tesoro, il cielo, per dare alla tua terra la pioggia a suo tempo, e per benedire tutta l’opera delle tue mani, e tu presterai a molte nazioni e non prenderai nulla in prestito. 13L’Eterno ti metterà alla testa e non alla coda, e sarai sempre in alto e mai in basso, se ubbidirai ai comandamenti dell’Eterno, del tuo Dio, i quali oggi ti do perché tu li osservi e li metta in pratica, 14e se non devierai né a destra né a sinistra da alcuna delle cose che oggi vi comando, per andar dietro ad altri dèi e per servirli. 15Ma se non ubbidisci alla voce dell’Eterno, del tuo Dio, se non hai cura di mettere in pratica tutti i suoi comandamenti e tutte le sue leggi che oggi ti do, avverrà che tutte queste maledizioni verranno su te e si compiranno per te: 16Sarai maledetto nella città e sarai maledetto nella campagna. 17Maledetti saranno il tuo paniere e la tua madia. 18Maledetto sarà il frutto delle tue viscere, il frutto del tuo suolo; maledetti i parti delle tue vacche e delle tue pecore. 19Sarai maledetto al tuo entrare e maledetto al tuo uscire. 20L’Eterno manderà contro di te la maledizione, lo spavento e la minaccia in ogni cosa a cui metterai mano e che farai, finché tu sia distrutto e tu perisca rapidamente, a motivo della malvagità delle tue azioni per la quale m’avrai abbandonato. 21L’Eterno farà sì che la peste s’attaccherà a te, finch’essa t’abbia consumato nel paese nel quale stai per entrare per prenderne possesso. 22L’Eterno ti colpirà di consunzione, di febbre, d’infiammazione, d’arsura, di aridità, di carbonchio e di ruggine, che ti perseguiteranno finché tu sia perito. 23Il tuo cielo sarà di rame sopra il tuo capo, e la terra sotto di te sarà di ferro. 24L’Eterno manderà sul tuo paese, invece di pioggia, sabbia e polvere, che cadranno su te dal cielo, finché tu sia distrutto. 25L’Eterno farà si che sarai messo in rotta dinanzi ai tuoi nemici; uscirai contro a loro per una via e per sette vie fuggirai d’innanzi a loro, e nessuno dei regni della terra ti darà requie. 26I tuoi cadaveri saran pasto di tutti gli uccelli del cielo e delle bestie della terra, che nessuno scaccerà. 27L’Eterno ti colpirà con l’ulcera d’Egitto, con emorroidi, con la rogna e con la tigna, di cui non potrai guarire. 28L’Eterno ti colpirà di delirio, di cecità e di smarrimento di cuore; 29e andrai brancolando in pien mezzodì, come il cieco brancola nel buio; non prospererai nelle tue vie, sarai del continuo oppresso e spogliato, e non vi sarà alcuno che ti soccorra. 30Ti fidanzerai con una donna, e un altro si giacerà con lei; edificherai una casa, ma non vi abiterai; pianterai una vigna, e non ne godrai il frutto. 31Il tuo bue sarà ammazzato sotto i tuoi occhi, e tu non ne mangerai; il tuo asino sarà portato via in tua presenza, e non ti sarà reso; le tue pecore saranno date ai tuoi nemici, e non vi sarà chi ti soccorra. 32I tuoi figliuoli e le tue figliuole saran dati in balìa d’un altro popolo; i tuoi occhi lo vedranno e languiranno del continuo dal rimpianto di loro, e la tua mano sarà senza forza. 33Un popolo, che tu non avrai conosciuto, mangerà il frutto della tua terra e di tutta la tua fatica, e sarai del continuo oppresso e schiacciato. 34E sarai fuor di te per le cose che vedrai con gli occhi tuoi. 35L’Eterno ti colpirà sulle ginocchia e sulle cosce con un’ulcera maligna, della quale non potrai guarire; ti colpirà dalle piante de’ piedi alla sommità del capo. 36L’Eterno farà andare te e il tuo re che avrai costituito sopra di te, verso una nazione che né tu né i padri tuoi avrete conosciuta; e quivi servirai a dèi stranieri, al legno e alla pietra; 37e diverrai lo stupore, il proverbio e la favola di tutti i popoli fra i quali l’Eterno t’avrà condotto. 38Porterai molta semenza al campo e raccoglierai poco, perché la locusta la divorerà. 39Pianterai vigne, le coltiverai, ma non berrai vino ne coglierai uva, perché il verme le roderà. 40Avrai degli ulivi in tutto il tuo territorio ma non t’ungerai d’olio, perché i tuoi ulivi perderanno il loro frutto. 41Genererai figliuoli e figliuole, ma non saranno tuoi perché andranno in schiavitù. 42Tutti i tuoi alberi e il frutto del tuo suolo saran preda alla locusta. 43Lo straniero che sarà in mezzo a te salirà sempre più in alto al disopra di te, e tu scenderai sempre più in basso. 44Egli presterà a te, e tu non presterai a lui; egli sarà alla testa, e tu in coda. 45Tutte queste maledizioni verranno su te, ti perseguiteranno e ti raggiungeranno, finché tu sia distrutto, perché non avrai ubbidito alla voce dell’Eterno, del tuo Dio, osservando i comandamenti e le leggi ch’egli t’ha dato. 46Esse saranno per te e per la tua progenie come un segno e come un prodigio, in perpetuo. 47E perché non avrai servito all’Eterno, al tuo Dio, con gioia e di buon cuore in mezzo all’abbondanza d’ogni cosa, 48servirai ai tuoi nemici che l’Eterno manderà contro di te, in mezzo alla fame, alla sete, alla nudità e alla mancanza d’ogni cosa; ed essi ti metteranno un giogo di ferro sul collo, finché t’abbiano distrutto. 49L’Eterno farà muover contro di te, da lontano, dalle estremità della terra, una nazione, pari all’aquila che vola, una nazione della quale non intenderai la lingua, 50una nazione dall’aspetto truce, che non avrà riguardo al vecchio e non avrà mercé del fanciullo; 51che mangerà il frutto del tuo bestiame e il frutto del tuo suolo, finché tu sia distrutto, e non ti lascerà di resto né frumento, né mosto, né olio, né parti delle tue vacche e delle tue pecore, finché t’abbia fatto perire. 52E t’assedierà in tutte le tue città, finché in tutto il tuo paese cadano le alte e forti mura nelle quali avrai riposto la tua fiducia. Essa ti assedierà in tutte le tue città, in tutto il paese che l’Eterno, il tuo Dio, t’avrà dato. 53E durante l’assedio e nella distretta alla quale ti ridurrà il tuo nemico, mangerai il frutto delle tue viscere, le carni de’ tuoi figliuoli e delle tue figliuole, che l’Eterno, il tuo Dio, t’avrà dati. 54L’uomo più delicato e più molle tra voi guarderà di mal occhio il suo fratello, la donna che riposa sul suo seno, i figliuoli che ancora gli rimangono, 55non volendo dare ad alcun d’essi delle carni de’ suoi figliuoli delle quali si ciberà, perché non gli sarà rimasto nulla in mezzo all’assedio e alla distretta alla quale i nemici t’avranno ridotto in tutte le tue città. 56La donna più delicata e più molle tra voi, che per mollezza e delicatezza non si sarebbe attentata a posare la pianta del piede in terra, guarderà di mal occhio il marito che le riposa sul seno, il suo figliuolo e la sua figliuola, 57per non dar loro nulla della placenta uscita dal suo seno e de’ figliuoli che metterà al mondo, perché, mancando di tutto, se ne ciberà di nascosto, in mezzo all’assedio e alla penuria alla quale i nemici t’avranno ridotto in tutte le tue città. 58Se non hai cura di mettere in pratica tutte le parole di questa legge, scritte in questo libro, se non temi questo nome glorioso e tremendo dell’Eterno, dell’Iddio tuo, 59l’Eterno renderà straordinarie le piaghe con le quali colpirà te e la tua progenie: piaghe grandi e persistenti e malattie maligne e persistenti, 60e farà tornare su te tutte le malattie d’Egitto, dinanzi alle quali tu tremavi, e s’attaccheranno a te. 61Ed anche le molte malattie e le molte piaghe non menzionate nel libro di questa legge, l’Eterno le farà venir su te, finché tu sia distrutto. 62E voi rimarrete poca gente, dopo essere stati numerosi come le stelle del cielo perché non avrai ubbidito alla voce dell’Eterno, ch’è il tuo Dio. 63E avverrà che come l’Eterno prendeva piacere a farvi del bene e moltiplicarvi, così l’Eterno prenderà piacere a farvi perire e a distruggervi; e sarete strappati dal paese del quale vai a prender possesso. 64L’Eterno ti disperderà fra tutti i popoli, da un’estremità della terra sino all’altra; e là servirai ad altri dèi, che né tu né i tuoi padri avete mai conosciuti: al legno e alla pietra. 65E fra quelle nazioni non avrai requie, e non vi sarà luogo di riposo per la pianta de’ tuoi piedi; ma l’Eterno ti darà quivi un cuor tremante, degli occhi che si spegneranno e un’anima languente. 66La tua vita ti starà dinanzi come sospesa; tremerai notte e giorno, e non sarai sicuro della tua esistenza. 67La mattina dirai: "Fosse pur sera!" e la sera dirai: "Fosse pur mattina!" a motivo dello spavento ond’avrai pieno il cuore, e a motivo delle cose che vedrai cogli occhi tuoi. 68E l’Eterno ti farà tornare in Egitto su delle navi, per la via della quale t’avevo detto: "Non la rivedrai mai più!" E là sarete offerti in vendita ai vostri nemici come schiavi e come schiave, e mancherà il compratore!
1It shall happen, if you shall listen diligently to Yahweh your God’s voice, to observe to do all his commandments which I command you this day, that Yahweh your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. 2All these blessings will come upon you, and overtake you, if you listen to Yahweh your God’s voice. 3You shall be blessed in the city, and you shall be blessed in the field. 4You shall be blessed in the fruit of your body, the fruit of your ground, the fruit of your animals, the increase of your livestock, and the young of your flock. 5Your basket and your kneading trough shall be blessed. 6You shall be blessed when you come in, and you shall be blessed when you go out. 7Yahweh will cause your enemies who rise up against you to be struck before you. They will come out against you one way, and will flee before you seven ways. 8Yahweh will command the blessing on you in your barns, and in all that you put your hand to. He will bless you in the land which Yahweh your God gives you. 9Yahweh will establish you for a holy people to himself, as he has sworn to you, if you shall keep the commandments of Yahweh your God, and walk in his ways. 10All the peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by Yahweh’s name, and they will be afraid of you. 11Yahweh will grant you abundant prosperity, in the fruit of your body, in the fruit of your livestock, and in the fruit of your ground, in the land which Yahweh swore to your fathers to give you. 12Yahweh will open to you his good treasure in the sky, to give the rain of your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You will lend to many nations, and you will not borrow. 13Yahweh will make you the head, and not the tail. You will be above only, and you will not be beneath; if you listen to the commandments of Yahweh your God, which I command you this day, to observe and to do, 14and shall not turn aside from any of the words which I command you this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them. 15But it shall come to pass, if you will not listen to Yahweh your God’s voice, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command you this day, that all these curses will come on you, and overtake you. 16You will be cursed in the city, and you will be cursed in the field. 17Your basket and your kneading trough will be cursed. 18The fruit of your body, the fruit of your ground, the increase of your livestock, and the young of your flock will be cursed. 19You will be cursed when you come in, and you will be cursed when you go out. 20Yahweh will send on you cursing, confusion, and rebuke, in all that you put your hand to do, until you are destroyed, and until you perish quickly; because of the evil of your doings, by which you have forsaken me. 21Yahweh will make the pestilence cling to you, until he has consumed you from off the land, where you go in to possess it. 22Yahweh will strike you with consumption, with fever, with inflammation, with fiery heat, with the sword, with blight, and with mildew. They will pursue you until you perish. 23Your sky that is over your head will be brass, and the earth that is under you will be iron. 24Yahweh will make the rain of your land powder and dust. It will come down on you from the sky, until you are destroyed. 25Yahweh will cause you to be struck before your enemies. You will go out one way against them, and will flee seven ways before them. You will be tossed back and forth among all the kingdoms of the earth. 26Your dead body will be food to all birds of the sky, and to the animals of the earth; and there will be no one to frighten them away. 27Yahweh will strike you with the boils of Egypt, with the tumors, with the scurvy, and with the itch, of which you can not be healed. 28Yahweh will strike you with madness, with blindness, and with astonishment of heart. 29You will grope at noonday, as the blind gropes in darkness, and you shall not prosper in your ways. You will only be oppressed and robbed always, and there will be no one to save you. 30You will betroth a wife, and another man shall lie with her. You will build a house, and you won’t dwell in it. You will plant a vineyard, and not use its fruit. 31Your ox will be slain before your eyes, and you will not eat any of it. Your donkey will be violently taken away from before your face, and will not be restored to you. Your sheep will be given to your enemies, and you will have no one to save you. 32Your sons and your daughters will be given to another people. Your eyes will look, and fail with longing for them all day long. There will be no power in your hand. 33A nation which you don’t know eat the fruit of your ground and all of your work. You will only be oppressed and crushed always; 34so that the sights that you see with your eyes will drive you mad. 35Yahweh will strike you in the knees and in the legs with a sore boil, of which you can not be healed, from the sole of your foot to the crown of your head. 36Yahweh will bring you, and your king whom you will set over yourselves, to a nation that you have not known, you nor your fathers. There you will serve other gods of wood and stone. 37You will become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword among all the peoples where Yahweh will lead you away. 38You will carry much seed out into the field, and will gather little in; for the locust will consume it. 39You will plant vineyards and dress them, but you will neither drink of the wine, nor harvest, because worms will eat them. 40You will have olive trees throughout all your borders, but you won’t anoint yourself with the oil; for your olives will drop off. 41You will father sons and daughters, but they will not be yours; for they will go into captivity. 42Locusts will consume all of your trees and the fruit of your ground. 43The foreigner who is in your midst will mount up above you higher and higher, and you will come down lower and lower. 44He will lend to you, and you won’t lend to him. He will be the head, and you will be the tail. 45All these curses will come on you, and will pursue you, and overtake you, until you are destroyed; because you didn’t listen to Yahweh your God’s voice, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded you. 46They will be for a sign and for a wonder to you and to your seed forever. 47Because you didn’t serve Yahweh your God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, by reason of the abundance of all things; 48therefore you will serve your enemies whom Yahweh sends against you, in hunger, in thirst, in nakedness, and in lack of all things. He will put an iron yoke on your neck, until he has destroyed you. 49Yahweh will bring a nation against you from far, from the end of the earth, as the eagle flies; a nation whose language you will not understand; 50a nation of fierce facial expressions, that doesn’t respect the elderly, nor show favor to the young, 51and they will eat the fruit of your livestock, and the fruit of your ground, until you are destroyed. They also won’t leave you grain, new wine, or oil, the increase of your livestock, or the young of your flock, until they have caused you to perish. 52They will besiege you in all your gates, until your high and fortified walls come down, in which you trusted, throughout all your land. They will besiege you in all your gates throughout all your land, which Yahweh your God has given you. 53You will eat the fruit of your own body, the flesh of your sons and of your daughters, whom Yahweh your God has given you, in the siege and in the distress with which your enemies will distress you. 54The man who is tender among you, and very delicate, his eye will be evil toward his brother, toward the wife whom he loves, and toward the remnant of his children whom he has remaining; 55so that he will not give to any of them of the flesh of his children whom he will eat, because he has nothing left to him, in the siege and in the distress with which your enemy will distress you in all your gates. 56The tender and delicate woman among you, who would not venture to set the sole of her foot on the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye will be evil toward the husband that she loves, toward her son, toward her daughter, 57toward her young one who comes out from between her feet, and toward her children whom she bears; for she will eat them secretly for lack of all things, in the siege and in the distress with which your enemy will distress you in your gates. 58If you will not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that you may fear this glorious and fearful name, YAHWEH YOUR GOD; 59then Yahweh will make your plagues fearful, and the plagues of your seed, even great plagues, and of long duration, and severe sicknesses, and of long duration. 60He will bring on you again all the diseases of Egypt, which you were afraid of; and they will cling to you. 61Also every sickness and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, Yahweh will bring them on you, until you are destroyed. 62You will be left few in number, even though you were as the stars of the sky for multitude; because you didn’t listen to Yahweh your God’s voice. 63It will happen that as Yahweh rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you, so Yahweh will rejoice over you to cause you to perish, and to destroy you. You will be plucked from off of the land where you go in to possess it. 64Yahweh will scatter you among all peoples, from one end of the earth to the other end of the earth. There you will serve other gods, which you have not known, you nor your fathers, even wood and stone. 65Among these nations you will find no ease, and there will be no rest for the sole of your foot; but Yahweh will give you there a trembling heart, failing of eyes, and pining of soul. 66Your life will hang in doubt before you. You will be afraid night and day, and will have no assurance of your life. 67In the morning you will say, “I wish it were evening!” and at evening you will say, “I wish it were morning!” for the fear of your heart which you will fear, and for the sights which your eyes will see. 68Yahweh will bring you into Egypt again with ships, by the way of which I told to you that you would never see it again. There you will sell yourselves to your enemies for male and female slaves, and nobody will buy you.
1En het zal geschieden, indien gij der stem des HEEREN, uws Gods, vlijtiglijk zult gehoorzamen, waarnemende te doen al Zijn geboden, die ik u heden gebiede, zo zal de HEERE, uw God, u hoog zetten boven alle volken der aarde. 2En al deze zegeningen zullen over u komen, en u aantreffen, wanneer gij der stem des HEEREN uws Gods, zult gehoorzaam zijn. 3Gezegend zult gij zijn in de stad, en gezegend zult gij zijn in het veld. 4Gezegend zal zijn de vrucht uws buiks, en de vrucht uws lands, en de vrucht uwer beesten, de voortzetting uwer koeien, en de kudden van uw klein vee. 5Gezegend zal zijn uw korf, en uw baktrog. 6Gezegend zult gij zijn in uw ingaan, gezegend zult gij zijn in uw uitgaan. 7De HEERE zal geven uw vijanden, die tegen u opstaan, geslagen voor uw aangezicht; door een weg zullen zij tot u uittrekken, maar door zeven wegen zullen zij voor uw aangezicht vlieden. 8De HEERE zal den zegen gebieden, dat Hij met u zij in uw schuren, en in alles, waaraan gij uw hand slaat; en Hij zal u zegenen in het land, dat u de HEERE, uw God, geven zal. 9De HEERE zal u Zichzelven tot een heilig volk bevestigen, gelijk als Hij u gezworen heeft, wanneer gij de geboden des HEEREN, uws Gods, zult houden, en in Zijn wegen wandelen. 10En alle volken der aarde zullen zien, dat de Naam des HEEREN over u genoemd is, en zij zullen voor u vrezen. 11En de HEERE zal u doen overvloeien aan goed, in de vrucht uws buiks, en in de vrucht uwer beesten, en in de vrucht uws lands; op het land, dat de HEERE uw vaderen gezworen heeft u te zullen geven. 12De HEERE zal u opendoen Zijn goeden schat, den hemel, om aan uw land regen te geven te zijner tijd, en om te zegenen al het werk uwer hand; en gij zult aan vele volken lenen, maar gij zult niet ontlenen. 13En de HEERE zal u tot een hoofd maken, en niet tot een staart, en gij zult alleenlijk boven zijn, en niet onder zijn; wanneer gij horen zult naar de geboden des HEEREN, uws Gods, die ik u heden gebiede te houden en te doen; 14En gij niet afwijken zult van al de woorden, die ik ulieden heden gebiede, ter rechterhand of ter linkerhand, dat gij andere goden nawandelt, om hen te dienen. 15Daarentegen zal het geschieden, indien gij de stem des HEEREN, uws Gods, niet zult gehoorzaam zijn, om waar te nemen, dat gij doet al Zijn geboden en Zijn inzettingen, die ik u heden gebiede; zo zullen al deze vloeken over u komen, en u treffen. 16Vervloekt zult gij zijn in de stad, en vervloekt zult gij zijn in het veld. 17Vervloekt zal zijn uw korf, en uw baktrog. 18Vervloekt zal zijn de vrucht uws buiks, en de vrucht uws lands, de voortzetting uwer koeien, en de kudden van uw klein vee. 19Vervloekt zult gij zijn in uw ingaan, en vervloekt zult gij zijn in uw uitgaan. 20De HEERE zal onder u zenden den vloek, de verstoring en het verderf, in alles, waaraan gij uw hand slaat, dat gij doen zult; totdat gij verdelgd wordt, en totdat gij haastelijk omkomt, vanwege de boosheid uwer werken, waarmede gij Mij verlaten hebt. 21De HEERE zal u de pestilentie doen aankleven, totdat Hij u verdoe van het land, waar gij naar toe gaat, om dat te erven. 22De HEERE zal u slaan met tering, en met koorts, en met vurigheid, en met hitte, en met droogte, en met brandkoren, en met honigdauw, die u vervolgen zullen, totdat gij omkomt. 23En uw hemel, die boven uw hoofd is, zal koper zijn, en de aarde, die onder u is, zal ijzer zijn. 24De HEERE, uw God, zal pulver en stof tot regen uws lands geven; van den hemel zal het op u nederdalen, totdat gij verdelgd wordt. 25De HEERE zal u geslagen geven voor het aangezicht uwer vijanden; door een weg zult gij tot hem uittrekken, en door zeven wegen zult gij voor zijn aangezicht vlieden; en gij zult van alle koninkrijken der aarde beroerd worden. 26En uw dood lichaam zal aan alle gevogelte des hemels, en aan de beesten der aarde tot spijze zijn; en niemand zal ze afschrikken. 27De HEERE zal u slaan met zweren van Egypte, en met spenen, en met droge schurft, en met krauwsel, waarvan gij niet zult kunnen genezen worden. 28De HEERE zal u slaan met onzinnigheid, en met blindheid, en met verbaasdheid des harten; 29Dat gij op den middag zult omtasten, gelijk als een blinde omtast in het donkere, en uw wegen niet zult voorspoedig maken; maar gij zult alleenlijk verdrukt en beroofd zijn alle dagen, en er zal geen verlosser zijn. 30Gij zult een vrouw ondertrouwen, maar een ander zal haar beslapen; een huis zult gij bouwen, maar daarin niet wonen; een wijngaard zult gij planten, maar dien niet gemeen maken. 31Uw os zal voor uw ogen geslacht worden, maar gij zult daarvan niet eten; uw ezel zal van voor uw aangezicht geroofd worden, en tot u niet wederkeren; maar het zal in het vermogen uwer hand niet zijn. 33De vrucht van uw land en al uw arbeid zal een volk eten, dat gij niet gekend hebt; en gij zult alle dagen alleenlijk verdrukt en gepletterd zijn. 34En gij zult onzinnig zijn, vanwege het gezicht uwer ogen, dat gij zien zult. 35De HEERE zal u slaan met boze zweren, aan de knieen en aan de benen, waarvan gij niet zult kunnen genezen worden, van uw voetzool af tot aan uw schedel. 36De HEERE zal u, mitsgaders uw koning, dien gij over u zult gesteld hebben, doen gaan tot een volk, dat gij niet gekend hebt, noch uw vaderen; en aldaar zult gij dienen andere goden, hout en steen. 37En gij zult zijn tot een schrik, tot een spreekwoord en tot een spotrede, onder al de volken, waarheen u de HEERE leiden zal. 38Gij zult veel zaads op den akker uitbrengen, maar gij zult weinig inzamelen; want de sprinkhaan zal het verteren. 39Wijngaarden zult gij planten, en bouwen, maar gij zult geen wijn drinken, noch iets vergaderen; want de worm zal het afeten. 40Olijfbomen zult gij hebben in al uw landpalen, maar gij zult u met olie niet zalven; want uw olijfboom zal zijn vrucht afwerpen. 41Zonen en dochteren zult gij gewinnen, maar zij zullen voor u niet zijn; want zij zullen in gevangenis gaan. 42Al uw geboomte, en de vrucht uws lands zal het boos gewormte erfelijk bezitten. 43De vreemdeling, die in het midden van u is, zal hoog, hoog boven u opklimmen; en gij zult laag, laag nederdalen. 44Hij zal u lenen, maar gij zult hem niet lenen; hij zal tot een hoofd zijn, en gij zult tot een staart zijn. 45En al deze vloeken zullen over u komen, en u vervolgen, en u treffen, totdat gij verdelgd wordt; omdat gij der stem des HEEREN, uws Gods, niet gehoorzaam zult geweest zijn, om te houden Zijn geboden en Zijn inzettingen, die Hij u geboden heeft. 46En zij zullen onder u tot een teken, en tot een wonder zijn, ja, onder uw zaad tot in eeuwigheid. 47Omdat gij den HEERE, uw God, niet gediend zult hebben met vrolijkheid en goedheid des harten, vanwege de veelheid van alles; 48Zo zult gij uw vijanden, die de HEERE onder u zenden zal, dienen, in honger en in dorst, en in naaktheid, en in gebrek van alles; en Hij zal een ijzeren juk op uw hals leggen, totdat Hij u verdelge. 49De HEERE zal tegen u een volk verheffen van verre, van het einde der aarde, gelijk als een arend vliegt; een volk, welks spraak gij niet zult verstaan; 50Een volk, stijf van aangezicht, dat het aangezicht des ouden niet zal aannemen, noch den jonge genadig zijn. 51En het zal de vrucht uwer beesten, en de vrucht uws lands opeten, totdat gij verdelgd zult zijn; hetwelk u geen koren, most noch olie, voortzetting uwer koeien noch kudden van uw klein vee zal overig laten, totdat Hij u verdoe. 52En het zal u beangstigen in al uw poorten, totdat uw hoge en vaste muren nedervallen, op welke gij vertrouwdet in uw ganse land; ja, het zal u beangstigen in al uw poorten, in uw ganse land, dat u de HEERE, uw God, gegeven heeft. 53En gij zult eten de vrucht uws buiks, het vlees uwer zonen en uwer dochteren, die u de HEERE, uw God, gegeven zal hebben; in de belegering en in de benauwing, waarmede uw vijanden u zullen benauwen 54Aangaande den man, die teder onder u, en die zeer wellustig geweest is, zijn oog zal kwaad zijn tegen zijn broeder en tegen de huisvrouw zijns schoots, en tegen zijn overige zonen, die hij overgehouden zal hebben; 55Dat hij niet aan een van die zal geven van het vlees zijner zonen, die hij eten zal, omdat hij voor zich niets heeft overgehouden; in de belegering en in de benauwing, waarmede uw vijand u in al uw poorten zal benauwen. 56Aangaande de tedere en wellustige vrouw onder u, die niet verzocht heeft haar voetzool op de aarde te zetten, omdat zij zich wellustig en teder hield; haar oog zal kwaad zijn tegen den man haars schoots, en tegen haar zoon, en tegen haar dochter; 57En dat om haar nageboorte, die van tussen haar voeten uitgegaan zal zijn, en om haar zonen, die zij gebaard zal hebben; want zij zal hen eten in het verborgene, vermits gebrek van alles; in de belegering en in de benauwing, waarmede uw vijand u zal benauwen in uw poorten. 58Indien gij niet zult waarnemen te doen al de woorden dezer wet, die in dit boek geschreven zijn, om te vrezen dezen heerlijken en vreselijken Naam den HEERE uw God; 59Zo zal de HEERE uw plagen wonderlijk maken, mitsgaders de plagen van uw zaad; het zullen grote en gewisse plagen, en boze en gewisse krankten zijn. 60En Hij zal op u doen keren alle kwalen van Egypte, voor dewelke gij gevreesd hebt, en zij zullen u aanhangen. 61Ook alle krankte, en alle plage, die in het boek dezer wet niet geschreven is, zal de HEERE over u doen komen, totdat gij verdelgd wordt. 62En gij zult met weinige mensen overgelaten worden, in plaats dat gij geweest zijt als de sterren des hemels in menigte; omdat gij der stem des HEEREN, uws Gods, niet gehoorzaam geweest zijt. 63En het zal geschieden, gelijk als de HEERE Zich over ulieden verblijdde, u goed doende en u vermenigvuldigende, alzo zal Zich de HEERE over u verblijden, u verdoende en u verdelgende; en gij zult uitgerukt worden uit het land, waar gij naar toe gaat, om dat te erven. 64En de HEERE zal u verstrooien onder alle volken, van het ene einde der aarde tot aan het andere einde der aarde; en aldaar zult gij andere goden dienen, die gij niet gekend hebt, noch uw vaders, hout en steen. 65Daartoe zult gij onder dezelve volken niet stil zijn, en uw voetzool zal geen rust hebben; want de HEERE zal u aldaar een bevend hart geven, en bezwijking der ogen, en mattigheid der ziel. 66En uw leven zal tegenover u hangen; en gij zult nacht en dag schrikken, en gij zult van uw leven niet zeker zijn. 67Des morgens zult gij zeggen: Och, dat het avond ware; en des avonds zult gij zeggen: Och, dat het morgen ware; vermits den schrik uws harten, waarmede gij zult verschrikt zijn, en vermits het gezicht uwer ogen, dat gij zien zult. 68En de HEERE zal u naar Egypte doen wederkeren in schepen, door een weg, waarvan ik u gezegd heb: Gij zult dien niet meer zien; en aldaar zult gij u aan uw vijanden willen verkopen tot dienstknechten en tot dienstmaagden; maar er zal geen koper zijn.
