1Quand’uno avrà preso una donna e sarà divenuto suo marito, se avvenga ch’ella poi non gli sia più gradita perché ha trovato in lei qualcosa di vergognoso, e scriva per lei un libello di ripudio e glielo consegni in mano e la mandi via di casa sua, 2s’ella, uscita di casa di colui, va e divien moglie d’un altro marito, 3e quest’altro marito la prende in odio, scrive per lei un libello di ripudio, glielo consegna in mano e la manda via di casa sua, o se quest’altro marito che l’avea presa per moglie viene a morire, 4il primo marito che l’avea mandata via non potrà riprenderla per moglie dopo ch’ella è stata contaminata; poiché sarebbe un’abominazione agli occhi dell’Eterno; e tu non macchierai di peccato il paese che l’Eterno, il tuo Dio, ti dà come eredità. 5Quando un uomo si sarà sposato di fresco, non andrà alla guerra, e non gli sarà imposto alcun incarico; sarà libero per un anno di starsene a casa, e farà lieta la moglie che ha sposata. 6Nessuno prenderà in pegno sia le due macine, sia la macina superiore, perché sarebbe come prendere in pegno la vita. 7Quando si troverà un uomo che abbia rubato qualcuno dei suoi fratelli di tra i figliuoli d’Israele, ne abbia fatto un suo schiavo e l’abbia venduto, quel ladro sarà messo a morte; così torrai via il male di mezzo a te. 8State in guardia contro la piaga della lebbra, per osservare diligentemente e fare tutto quello che i sacerdoti levitici v’insegneranno; avrete cura di fare come io ho loro ordinato. 9Ricordati di quello che l’Eterno, il tuo Dio, fece a Maria, durante il viaggio, dopo che foste usciti dall’Egitto. 10Quando presterai qualsivoglia cosa al tuo prossimo, non entrerai in casa sua per prendere il suo pegno; 11te ne starai di fuori, e l’uomo a cui avrai fatto il prestito, ti porterà il pegno fuori. 12E se quell’uomo è povero, non ti coricherai, avendo ancora il suo pegno. 13Non mancherai di restituirgli il pegno, al tramonto del sole, affinché egli possa dormire nel suo mantello, e benedirti; e questo ti sarà contato come un atto di giustizia agli occhi dell’Eterno, ch’è il tuo Dio. 14Non defrauderai il mercenario povero e bisognoso, sia egli uno de’ tuoi fratelli o uno degli stranieri che stanno nel tuo paese, entro le tue porte; 15gli darai il suo salario il giorno stesso, prima che tramonti il sole; poich’egli è povero, e l’aspetta con impazienza; così egli non griderà contro di te all’Eterno, e tu non commetterai un peccato. 16Non si metteranno a morte i padri per i figliuoli, né si metteranno a morte i figliuoli per i padri; ognuno sarà messo a morte per il proprio peccato. 17Non conculcherai il diritto dello straniero o dell’orfano, e non prenderai in pegno la veste della vedova; 18ma ti ricorderai che sei stato schiavo in Egitto, e che di là, ti ha redento l’Eterno, l’Iddio tuo; perciò io ti comando che tu faccia così. 19Allorché, facendo la mietitura nel tuo campo, vi avrai dimenticato qualche manipolo, non tornerai indietro a prenderlo; sarà per lo straniero, per l’orfano e per la vedova, affinché l’Eterno, il tuo Dio, ti benedica in tutta l’opera delle tue mani. 20Quando scoterai i tuoi ulivi, non starai a cercar le ulive rimaste sui rami; saranno per lo straniero, per l’orfano e per la vedova. 21Quando vendemmierai la tua vigna, non starai a coglierne i raspolli; saranno per lo straniero, per l’orfano e per la vedova. 22E ti ricorderai che sei stato schiavo nel paese d’Egitto; perciò ti comando che tu faccia così.
1When a man takes a wife and marries her, then it shall be, if she finds no favor in his eyes, because he has found some unseemly thing in her, that he shall write her a bill of divorce, and put it in her hand, and send her out of his house. 2When she has departed out of his house, she may go and be another man’s wife. 3If the latter husband hates her, and write her a bill of divorce, and puts it in her hand, and sends her out of his house; or if the latter husband die, who took her to be his wife; 4her former husband, who sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after that she is defiled; for that is abomination before Yahweh. You shall not cause the land to sin, which Yahweh your God gives you for an inheritance. 5When a man takes a new wife, he shall not go out in the army, neither shall he be assigned any business. He shall be free at home one year, and shall cheer his wife whom he has taken. 6No man shall take the mill or the upper millstone as a pledge; for he takes a life in pledge. 7If a man is found stealing any of his brothers of the children of Israel, and he deals with him as a slave, or sells him; then that thief shall die. So you shall remove the evil from your midst. 8Be careful in the plague of leprosy, that you observe diligently, and do according to all that the priests the Levites teach you. As I commanded them, so you shall observe to do. 9Remember what Yahweh your God did to Miriam, by the way as you came out of Egypt. 10When you lend your neighbor any kind of loan, you shall not go into his house to get his pledge. 11You shall stand outside, and the man to whom you lend shall bring the pledge outside to you. 12If he is a poor man, you shall not sleep with his pledge. 13You shall surely restore to him the pledge when the sun goes down, that he may sleep in his garment, and bless you. It shall be righteousness to you before Yahweh your God. 14You shall not oppress a hired servant who is poor and needy, whether he is one of your brothers, or one of the foreigners who are in your land within your gates. 15In his day you shall give him his hire, neither shall the sun go down on it; for he is poor, and sets his heart on it; lest he cry against you to Yahweh, and it be sin to you. 16The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers. Every man shall be put to death for his own sin. 17You shall not deprive the foreigner or the fatherless of justice, nor take a widow’s clothing in pledge; 18but you shall remember that you were a slave in Egypt, and Yahweh your God redeemed you there. Therefore I command you to do this thing. 19When you reap your harvest in your field, and have forgotten a sheaf in the field, you shall not go again to get it. It shall be for the foreigner, for the fatherless, and for the widow; that Yahweh your God may bless you in all the work of your hands. 20When you beat your olive tree, you shall not go over the boughs again. It shall be for the foreigner, for the fatherless, and for the widow. 21When you harvest your vineyard, you shall not glean it after yourselves. It shall be for the foreigner, for the fatherless, and for the widow. 22You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt. Therefore I command you to do this thing.
1Wanneer een man een vrouw zal genomen en die getrouwd hebben, zo zal het geschieden, indien zij geen genade zal vinden in zijn ogen, omdat hij iets schandelijks aan haar gevonden heeft, dat hij haar een scheidbrief zal schrijven, en in haar hand geven, en ze laten gaan uit zijn huis. 2Zo zij dan, uit zijn huis uitgegaan zijnde, zal henengaan en een anderen man ter vrouwe worden, 3En deze laatste man haar gehaat, en haar een scheidbrief geschreven, en in haar hand gegeven, en haar uit zijn huis zal hebben laten gaan; of als deze laatste man, die ze voor zich tot een vrouw genomen heeft, zal gestorven zijn; 4Zo zal haar eerste man, die haar heeft laten gaan, haar niet mogen wedernemen, dat zij hem ter vrouwe zij, nadat zij is verontreinigd geworden; want dat is een gruwel voor het aangezicht des HEEREN; alzo zult gij het land niet doen zondigen, dat u de HEERE, uw God, ten erve geeft. 5Wanneer een man een nieuwe vrouw zal genomen hebben, die zal in het heir niet uittrekken, en men zal hem geen last opleggen; een jaar lang zal hij vrij zijn in zijn huis, en zijn vrouw, die hij genomen heeft, verheugen. 6Men zal beide molenstenen, immers den bovensten molensteen, niet te pand nemen; want hij neemt de ziel te pand. 7Wanneer iemand gevonden zal worden, die een ziel steelt uit zijn broederen, uit de kinderen Israels, en drijft gewin met hem, en verkoopt hem; zo zal deze dief sterven, en gij zult het boze uit het midden van u wegdoen. 8Wacht u in de plaag der melaatsheid, dat gij naarstiglijk waarneemt en doet naar alles, wat de Levietische priesteren ulieden zullen leren; gelijk als ik hun geboden heb, zult gij waarnemen te doen. 9Gedenkt, wat de HEERE, uw God, gedaan heeft aan Mirjam, op den weg, als gij uit Egypte waart uitgetogen. 10Wanneer gij aan uw naaste iets zult geleend hebben, zo zult gij tot zijn huis niet ingaan, om zijn pand te pand te nemen; 11Buiten zult gij staan, en de man, dien gij geleend hebt, zal het pand naar buiten tot u uitbrengen. 12Doch indien hij een arm man is, zo zult gij met zijn pand niet nederliggen. 13Gij zult hem dat pand zekerlijk wedergeven, als de zon ondergaat, dat hij in zijn kleed nederligge, en u zegene; en het zal u gerechtigheid zijn voor het aangezicht des HEEREN, uws Gods. 14Gij zult den armen en nooddruftigen dagloner niet verdrukken, die uit uw broederen is, of uit uw vreemdelingen, die in uw land en in uw poorten zijn. 15Op zijn dag zult gij zijn loon geven, en de zon zal daarover niet ondergaan; want hij is arm, en zijn ziel verlangt daarnaar; dat hij tegen u niet roepe tot den HEERE, en zonde in u zij. 16De vaders zullen niet gedood worden voor de kinderen, en de kinderen zullen niet gedood worden voor de vaders; een ieder zal om zijn zonde gedood worden. 17Gij zult het recht van den vreemdeling en van den wees niet buigen, en gij zult het kleed der weduwe niet te pand nemen. 18Maar gij zult gedenken, dat gij een knecht in Egypte geweest zijt, en de HEERE, uw God, heeft u van daar verlost; daarom gebiede ik u deze zaak te doen. 19Wanneer gij uw oogst op uw akker afgeoogst, en een garf op den akker vergeten zult hebben, zo zult gij niet wederkeren, om die op te nemen; voor den vreemdeling, voor den wees en voor de weduwe zal zij zijn; opdat u de HEERE, uw God, zegene, in al het werk uwer handen. 20Wanneer gij uw olijfboom zult geschud hebben, zo zult gij de takken achter u niet nauw doorzoeken; voor den vreemdeling, voor den wees en voor de weduwe zal het zijn. 21Wanneer gij uw wijngaard zult afgelezen hebben, zo zult gij de druiven achter u niet nalezen; voor den vreemdeling, voor den wees en voor de weduwe zal het zijn. 22En gij zult gedenken, dat gij een knecht in Egypteland geweest zijt; daarom gebiede ik u deze zaak te doen.
