Deuteronomio 12

1Queste sono le leggi e le prescrizioni che avrete cura d’osservare nel paese che l’Eterno, l’Iddio de’ tuoi padri, ti da perché tu lo possegga, tutto il tempo che vivrete sulla terra. 2Distruggerete interamente tutti i luoghi dove le nazioni che state per cacciare servono i loro dèi: sugli alti monti, sui colli, e sotto qualunque albero verdeggiante. 3Demolirete i loro altari, spezzerete le loro statue, darete alle fiamme i loro idoli d’Astarte, abbatterete le immagini scolpite dei loro dèi, e farete sparire il loro nome da quei luoghi. 4Non così farete riguardo all’Eterno, all’Iddio vostro; 5ma lo cercherete nella sua dimora, nel luogo che l’Eterno, il vostro Dio, avrà scelto fra tutte le vostre tribù, per mettervi il suo nome; e quivi andrete; 6quivi recherete i vostri olocausti e i vostri sacrifizi, le vostre decime, quel che le vostre mani avranno prelevato, le vostre offerte votive e le vostre offerte volontarie, e i primogeniti de’ vostri armenti e de’ vostri greggi; 7e quivi mangerete davanti all’Eterno, ch’è il vostro Dio, e vi rallegrerete, voi e le vostre famiglie, godendo di tutto ciò a cui avrete messo mano, e in cui l’Eterno, il vostro Dio, vi avrà benedetti. 8Non farete come facciamo oggi qui, dove ognuno fa tutto quel che gli par bene, 9perché finora non siete giunti al riposo e all’eredità che l’Eterno, il vostro Dio, vi dà. 10Ma passerete il Giordano e abiterete il paese che l’Eterno, il vostro Dio, vi dà in eredità, e avrete requie da tutti i vostri nemici che vi circondano e sarete stanziati in sicurtà; 11e allora, recherete al luogo che l’Eterno, il vostro Dio, avrà scelto per dimora del suo nome, tutto quello che vi comando: i vostri olocausti e i vostri sacrifizi, le vostre decime, quel che le vostre mani avranno prelevato, e tutte le offerte scelte che avrete votate all’Eterno. 12E vi rallegrerete dinanzi all’Eterno, al vostro Dio, voi, i vostri figliuoli, le vostre figliuole, i vostri servi, le vostre serve e il Levita che sarà entro le vostre porte; poich’egli non ha né parte né possesso tra voi. 13Allora ti guarderai bene dall’offrire i tuoi olocausti in qualunque luogo vedrai; 14ma offrirai i tuoi olocausti nel luogo che l’Eterno avrà scelto in una delle tue tribù; e quivi farai tutto quello che ti comando. 15Però, potrai a tuo piacimento scannare animali e mangiarne la carne in tutte le tue città, secondo la benedizione che l’Eterno t’avrà largita; tanto colui che sarà impuro come colui che sarà puro ne potranno mangiare, come si fa della carne di gazzella e di cervo; 16ma non ne mangerete il sangue; lo spargerai per terra come acqua. 17Non potrai mangiare entro le tue porte le decime del tuo frumento, del tuo mosto, del tuo olio, né i primogeniti de’ tuoi armenti e de’ tuoi greggi, né ciò che avrai consacrato per voto, né le tue offerte volontarie, né quel che le tue mani avranno prelevato; 18tali cose mangerai dinanzi all’Eterno, ch’è il tuo Dio, nel luogo che l’Eterno, il tuo Dio, avrà scelto, tu, il tuo figliuolo, la tua figliuola, il tuo servo, la tua serva, e il Levita che sarà entro le tue porte; e ti rallegrerai dinanzi all’Eterno, ch’è il tuo Dio, d’ogni cosa a cui avrai messo mano. 19Guardati bene, tutto il tempo che vivrai nel tuo paese, dall’abbandonare il Levita. 20Quando l’Eterno, il tuo Dio, avrà ampliato i tuoi confini, come t’ha promesso, e tu, desiderando di mangiar della carne dirai: "Vorrei mangiar della carne", potrai mangiar della carne a tuo piacimento. 21Se il luogo che l’Eterno, il tuo Dio, avrà scelto per porvi il suo nome sarà lontano da te, potrai ammazzare del grosso e del minuto bestiame che l’Eterno t’avrà dato, come t’ho prescritto; e potrai mangiarne entro le tue porte a tuo piacimento. 22Soltanto, ne mangerai come si mangia la carne di gazzella e di cervo; ne potrà mangiare tanto chi sarà impuro quanto chi sarà puro; 23ma guardati assolutamente dal mangiarne il sangue, perché il sangue e la vita; e tu non mangerai la vita insieme con la carne. 24Non lo mangerai; lo spargerai per terra come acqua. 25Non lo mangerai affinché sii felice tu e i tuoi figliuoli dopo di te, quando avrai fatto ciò ch’è retto agli occhi dell’Eterno. 26Ma quanto alle cose che avrai consacrate o promesse per voto, le prenderai e andrai al luogo che l’Eterno avrà scelto, 27e offrirai i tuoi olocausti, la carne e il sangue, sull’altare dell’Eterno, ch’è il tuo Dio; e il sangue delle altre tue vittime dovrà essere sparso sull’altare dell’Eterno, del tuo Dio, e tu ne mangerai la carne. 28Osserva e ascolta tutte queste cose che ti comando, affinché sii sempre felice tu e i tuoi figliuoli dopo di te, quando avrai fatto ciò ch’è bene e retto agli occhi dell’Eterno, ch’è il tuo Dio. 29Quando l’Eterno, l’Iddio tuo, avrà sterminate davanti a te le nazioni là dove tu stai per entrare a spodestarle, e quando le avrai spodestate e ti sarai stanziato nel loro paese, 30guardati bene dal cadere nel laccio, seguendo il loro esempio, dopo che saranno state distrutte davanti a te, e dall’informarti de’ loro dèi, dicendo: "Queste nazioni come servivano esse ai loro dèi? Anch’io vo’ fare lo stesso". 31Non così farai riguardo all’Eterno, all’Iddio tuo; poiché esse praticavano verso i loro dèi tutto ciò ch’è abominevole per l’Eterno e ch’egli detesta; davan perfino alle fiamme i loro figliuoli e le loro figliuole, in onore dei loro dèi. 32Avrete cura di mettere in pratica tutte le cose che vi comando; non vi aggiungerai nulla, e nulla ne toglierai.

1These are the statutes and the ordinances which you shall observe to do in the land which Yahweh, the God of your fathers, has given you to possess it, all the days that you live on the earth. 2You shall surely destroy all the places in which the nations that you shall dispossess served their gods, on the high mountains, and on the hills, and under every green tree. 3You shall break down their altars, and dash their pillars in pieces, and burn their Asherah poles with fire. You shall cut down the engraved images of their gods. You shall destroy their name out of that place. 4You shall not do so to Yahweh your God. 5But to the place which Yahweh your God shall choose out of all your tribes, to put his name there, you shall seek his habitation, and there you shall come. 6There you shall bring your burnt offerings, your sacrifices, your tithes, the wave offering of your hand, your vows, your freewill offerings, and the firstborn of your herd and of your flock. 7There you shall eat before Yahweh your God, and you shall rejoice in all that you put your hand to, you and your households, in which Yahweh your God has blessed you. 8You shall not do after all the things that we do here this day, every man whatever is right in his own eyes; 9for you haven’t yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which Yahweh your God gives you. 10But when you go over the Jordan, and dwell in the land which Yahweh your God causes you to inherit, and he gives you rest from all your enemies around you, so that you dwell in safety; 11then it shall happen that to the place which Yahweh your God shall choose, to cause his name to dwell there, there you shall bring all that I command you: your burnt offerings, your sacrifices, your tithes, the wave offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which you vow to Yahweh. 12You shall rejoice before Yahweh your God, you, and your sons, your daughters, your male servants, your female servants, and the Levite who is within your gates, because he has no portion nor inheritance with you. 13Be careful that you don’t offer your burnt offerings in every place that you see; 14but in the place which Yahweh chooses in one of your tribes, there you shall offer your burnt offerings, and there you shall do all that I command you. 15Notwithstanding, you may kill and eat flesh within all your gates, after all the desire of your soul, according to Yahweh your God’s blessing which he has given you. The unclean and the clean may eat of it, as of the gazelle, and as of the deer. 16Only you shall not eat the blood. You shall pour it out on the earth like water. 17You may not eat within your gates the tithe of your grain, or of your new wine, or of your oil, or the firstborn of your herd or of your flock, nor any of your vows which you vow, nor your freewill offerings, nor the wave offering of your hand; 18but you shall eat them before Yahweh your God in the place which Yahweh your God shall choose, you, your son, your daughter, your male servant, your female servant, and the Levite who is within your gates. You shall rejoice before Yahweh your God in all that you put your hand to. 19Be careful that you don’t forsake the Levite as long as you live in your land. 20When Yahweh your God enlarges your border, as he has promised you, and you shall say, “I want to eat meat,” because your soul desires to eat meat; you may eat meat, after all the desire of your soul. 21If the place which Yahweh your God shall choose, to put his name there, is too far from you, then you shall kill of your herd and of your flock, which Yahweh has given you, as I have commanded you; and you may eat within your gates, after all the desire of your soul. 22Even as the gazelle and as the deer is eaten, so you shall eat of it. The unclean and the clean may eat of it alike. 23Only be sure that you don’t eat the blood; for the blood is the life. You shall not eat the life with the flesh. 24You shall not eat it. You shall pour it out on the earth like water. 25You shall not eat it; that it may go well with you, and with your children after you, when you shall do that which is right in the eyes of Yahweh. 26Only your holy things which you have, and your vows, you shall take, and go to the place which Yahweh shall choose. 27You shall offer your burnt offerings, the flesh and the blood, on the altar of Yahweh your God; and the blood of your sacrifices shall be poured out on the altar of Yahweh your God; and you shall eat the flesh. 28Observe and hear all these words which I command you, that it may go well with you, and with your children after you forever, when you do that which is good and right in Yahweh your God’s eyes. 29When Yahweh your God cuts off the nations from before you, where you go in to dispossess them, and you dispossess them, and dwell in their land; 30be careful that you are not ensnared to follow them, after that they are destroyed from before you; and that you not inquire after their gods, saying, “How do these nations serve their gods? I will do likewise.” 31You shall not do so to Yahweh your God; for every abomination to Yahweh, which he hates, have they done to their gods; for they even burn their sons and their daughters in the fire to their gods. 32Whatever thing I command you, that you shall observe to do. You shall not add to it, nor take away from it.

1Dit zijn de inzettingen en de rechten, die gijlieden zult waarnemen om te doen, in dat land, hetwelk u de HEERE, uwer vaderen God, gegeven heeft, om het te erven; al de dagen, die gijlieden op den aardbodem leeft. 2Gij zult ganselijk vernielen al de plaatsen, alwaar de volken, die gij zult erven, hun goden gediend hebben; op de hoge bergen, en op de heuvelen, en onder allen groenen boom. 3En gij zult hun altaren afwerpen, en hun opgerichte beelden verbreken, en hun bossen met vuur verbranden, en de gesneden beelden hunner goden nederhouwen; en gij zult hun naam te niet doen uit diezelve plaats. 4Gij zult den HEERE, uw God, alzo niet doen! 5Maar naar de plaats, die de HEERE, uw God, uit al uw stammen verkiezen zal, om Zijn Naam aldaar te zetten, naar Zijn woning zult gijlieden vragen, en daarheen zult gij komen; 6En daarheen zult gijlieden brengen uw brandofferen, en uw slachtofferen, en uw tienden, en het hefoffer uwer hand, en uw geloften, en uw vrijwillige offeren, en de eerstgeboorten uwer runderen en uwer schapen. 7En aldaar zult gijlieden voor het aangezicht des HEEREN, uws Gods, eten en vrolijk zijn, gijlieden en uw huizen, over alles, waaraan gij uw hand geslagen hebt, waarin u de HEERE, uw God, gezegend heeft. 8Gij zult niet doen naar alles, wat wij hier heden doen, een ieder al wat in zijn ogen recht is. 9Want gij zijt tot nu toe niet gekomen in de rust en in de erfenis, die de HEERE, uw God, u geven zal. 10Maar gij zult over de Jordaan gaan, en wonen in het land, dat u de HEERE, uw God, zal doen erven; en Hij zal u rust geven van al uw vijanden rondom, en gij zult zeker wonen. 11Dan zal er een plaats zijn, die de HEERE, uw God, verkiezen zal, om Zijn Naam aldaar te doen wonen; daarheen zult gij brengen alles, wat ik u gebiede: uw brandofferen, en uw slachtofferen, uw tienden, en het hefoffer uwer hand, en alle keur uwer geloften, die gij den HEERE beloven zult. 12En gij zult vrolijk zijn voor het aangezicht des HEEREN, uws Gods, gijlieden, en uw zonen, en uw dochteren, en uw dienstknechten, en uw dienstmaagden, en de Leviet, die in uw poorten is; want hij heeft geen deel noch erve met ulieden. 13Wacht u, dat gij uw brandofferen niet offert in alle plaats, die gij zien zult. 14Maar in de plaats, die de HEERE in een uwer stammen zal verkiezen, daar zult gij uw brandofferen offeren, en daar zult gij doen al wat ik u gebiede. 15Doch naar allen lust uwer ziel zult gij slachten en vlees eten, naar den zegen des HEEREN, uws Gods, dien Hij u geeft, in al uw poorten; de onreine en de reine zal daarvan eten, als van een ree, en als van een hert. 16Alleenlijk het bloed zult gijlieden niet eten; gij zult het op de aarde uitgieten als water. 17Gij zult in uw poorten niet mogen eten de tienden van uw koren, en van uw most, en van uw olie, noch de eerstgeboorten van uw runderen en van uw schapen, noch enige uwer geloften, die gij zult hebben beloofd, noch uw vrijwillige offeren, noch het hefoffer uwer hand. 18Maar gij zult dat eten voor het aangezicht des HEEREN, uws Gods, in de plaats, die de HEERE, uw God, verkiezen zal, gij, en uw zoon, en uw dochter, en uw dienstknecht, en uw dienstmaagd, en de Leviet, die in uw poorten is; en gij zult vrolijk zijn voor het aangezicht des HEEREN, uws Gods, over alles, waaraan gij uw handen geslagen hebt. 19Wacht u, dat gij den Leviet niet verlaat, al uw dagen in uw land. 20Wanneer de HEERE, uw God, uw landpale zal verwijd hebben, gelijk als Hij tot u gesproken heeft, en gij zeggen zult: Ik zal vlees eten; dewijl uw ziel lust heeft vlees te eten, zo zult gij vlees eten, naar allen lust uwer ziel. 21Zo de plaats, die de HEERE, uw God, verkiezen zal, om Zijn Naam aldaar te zetten, verre van u zal zijn, zo zult gij slachten van uw runderen en van uw schapen, die de HEERE u gegeven heeft, gelijk als ik u geboden heb; en gij zult eten in uw poorten, naar allen lust uwer ziel. 22Doch gelijk als een ree en een hert gegeten wordt, alzo zult gij dat eten; de onreine en de reine zullen het te zamen eten. 23Alleen houdt vast, dat gij het bloed niet eet; want het bloed is de ziel; daarom zult gij de ziel met het vlees niet eten; 24Gij zult dat niet eten; op de aarde zult gij het uitgieten als water; 25Gij zult dat niet eten; opdat het u, en uw kinderen na u, welga, als gij zult gedaan hebben, wat recht is in de ogen des HEEREN. 26Doch uw heilige dingen, die gij hebben zult, en uw geloften zult gij opnemen, en komen tot de plaats, die de HEERE verkiezen zal; 27En gij zult uw brandofferen, het vlees en het bloed, bereiden op het altaar des HEEREN, uws Gods; en het bloed uwer slachtofferen zal op het altaar des HEEREN, uws Gods, worden uitgegoten; maar het vlees zult gij eten. 28Neemt waar, en hoort al deze woorden, die ik u gebiede, opdat het u, en uw kinderen na u, welga tot in eeuwigheid, als gij zult gedaan hebben wat goed en recht is in de ogen des HEEREN, uws Gods. 29Wanneer de HEERE, uw God, voor uw aangezicht zal hebben uitgeroeid de volken, naar dewelke gij heengaat, om die erfelijk te bezitten; en gij die erfelijk zult bezitten, en in hun land wonen; 30Wacht u, dat gij niet verstrikt wordt achter hen, nadat zij voor uw aangezicht zullen verdelgd zijn; en dat gij niet vraagt naar hun goden, zeggende: Gelijk als deze volken hun goden gediend hebben, alzo zal ik ook doen. 31Gij zult alzo niet doen den HEERE, uw God; want al wat den HEERE een gruwel is, dat Hij haat, hebben zij hun goden gedaan; want zij hebben ook hun zonen en hun dochteren met vuur verbrand voor hun goden. 32Al dit woord, hetwelk ik ulieden gebiede, zult gij waarnemen om te doen; gij zult daar niet toedoen, en daarvan niet afdoen.
