1Từ nơi Ðức Giê-hô-va có lời phán cùng Giê-rê-mi rằng: 2Hãy đứng nơi cửa nhà Ðức Giê-hô-va, tại đó hãy rao lời nầy: Các ngươi, là người Giu-đa hết thảy, là những kẻ do các cửa nầy vào đặng thờ lạy Ðức Giê-hô-va, hãy nghe lời Ðức Giê-hô-va. 3Ðức Giê-hô-va vạn quân, Ðức Chúa Trời của Y-sơ-ra-ên, phán như vầy: Hãy sửa lại đường lối và việc làm của các ngươi; thì ta sẽ khiến các ngươi ở trong xứ nầy. 4Chớ nhờ cậy những lời dối trá rằng: Chính đây là đền thờ của Ðức Giê-hô-va, đền thờ của Ðức Giê-hô-va, đền thờ của Ðức Giê-hô-va. 5Vì nếu các ngươi sửa lại kỹ càng đường lối và việc làm của mình, nếu các ngươi làm trọn sự công bình giữa người và kẻ lân cận nó; 6nếu các ngươi không hiếp đáp khách lạ, kẻ mồ côi, người góa bụa, và không làm đổ máu vô tội trong nơi nầy; cũng chẳng đi theo các thần khác để làm hại mình, 7thì ta sẽ khiến các ngươi ăn ở trong nơi nầy và trong đất mà ta đã ban cho tổ phụ các ngươi từ thuở xưa cho đến đời đời. 8Nầy, các ngươi cậy những lời phỉnh phờ chẳng có ích gì. 9Các ngươi há chẳng trộm cướp, giết người, phạm tội tà dâm, thề dối, dâng hương cho Ba-anh, đi theo thần khác, là thần mình không biết hay sao? 10Rồi các ngươi đến chầu ta trong nhà nầy, là nơi được xưng bằng danh ta, và nói rằng: Kìa, chúng tôi được thả rồi! hầu cho các ngươi được phạm mọi sự gớm ghiếc ấy. 11Vậy thì các ngươi xem nhà nầy, là nơi được xưng bằng danh ta, như hang trộm cướp sao? Nầy, ta, chính ta xem thấy mọi điều đó, Ðức Giê-hô-va phán vậy. 12Thế thì, hãy đi đến chỗ ở cũ của ta tạo Si-lô, là nơi trước kia ta đã gởi danh ta, mà xem, vì tội ác của dân Y-sơ-ra-ên ta, ta đã làm cho nó thể nào. 13Ðức Giê-hô-va phán: Hiện bây giờ, vì các ngươi đã làm những việc ấy, ta đã dậy sớm phán dạy các ngươi, mà các ngươi không nghe; lại gọi các ngươi mà các ngươi không trả lời, 14thì ta sẽ làm cho nhà nầy, tức là nhà được xưng bằng danh ta, là nhà mà các ngươi nhờ cậy, và làm cho nơi mà ta đã ban cho các ngươi cùng tổ phụ các ngươi, cũng như ta đã làm cho Si-lô; 15ta lại bỏ các ngươi khỏi trước mắt ta, cũng như ta đã bỏ anh em các ngươi hết thảy, tức là cả dòng dõi Ép-ra-im. 16Cho nên ngươi chớ vì dân nầy mà cầu thay; đừng vì nó mà cất tiếng khấn vái cầu nguyện, cũng đừng cầu thay cùng ta, vì ta sẽ chẳng nghe ngươi. 17Ngươi há chẳng thấy điều họ làm trong các thành của Giu-đa và trong các đường phố Giê-ru-sa-lem sao? 18Con lượm củi, cha nhen lửa, đờn bà nhồi bột, đặng làm bánh dâng cho nữ vương trên trời, và làm lễ quán cho các thần khác, để chọc giận ta. 19Ðức Giê-hô-va phán: Có phải chúng nó chọc giận ta chăng? Há chẳng phải chúng nó tự chọc mình, chuốc lấy điều hổ mặt cho mình sao? 20Vậy nên, Chúa Giê-hô-va phán như vầy: Nầy, cơn giận và sự thạnh nộ của ta sẽ đổ xuống trên xứ nầy, trên người ta và thú vật, trên cây cối ngoài đồng và hoa quả của đất, sẽ đốt cháy hết, chẳng tắt bao giờ. 21Ðức Giê-hô-va vạn quân, Ðức Chúa Trời của Y-sơ-ra-ên, phán như vầy: Hãy thêm của lễ thiêu của các ngươi vào các của lễ khác, và ăn thịt đi! 22Vì khi ta đem tổ phụ các ngươi ra khỏi đất Ê-díp-tô, ta chẳng hề phán, và chẳng hề truyền mạng lịnh gì về của lễ thiêu và các của lễ. 23Nhưng, nầy là mạng lịnh mà ta đã truyền cho họ: Hãy nghe tiếng ta, thì ta sẽ làm Ðức Chúa Trời các ngươi, các ngươi sẽ làm dân ta; hãy đi theo cả đường lối ta dạy cho, để các ngươi được phước. 24Nhưng họ chẳng nghe, và chẳng ghé tai vào, cứ bước đi trong mưu của mình, theo sự cứng cỏi của lòng ác mình, thụt lùi chẳng bước tới. 25Từ ngày tổ phụ các ngươi ra khỏi đất Ê-díp-tô cho đến ngày nay, ta đã sai mọi đầy tớ ta, tức các tiên tri, đến cùng các ngươi; mỗi ngày ta dậy sớm sai họ đến. 26Nhưng chúng nó chẳng nghe ta, chẳng hề để tai vào, song lại cứng cổ, ăn ở càng xấu hơn tổ phụ mình. 27Vậy ngươi sẽ nói với chúng nó mọi lời nầy, nhưng chúng nó không nghe ngươi. Ngươi sẽ kêu, những chúng nó không trả lời. 28Vậy nên ngươi khá bảo chúng nó rằng: Nầy là dân chẳng nghe tiếng Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời mình, và không chịu nhận sự dạy dỗ. Sự chơn thật mất rồi, đã dứt khỏi miệng chúng nó. 29Hỡi Giê-ru-sa-lem, hãy cắt tóc mà ném cho xa đi; hãy cất tiếng thảm sầu trên các gò trọi! Vì Ðức Giê-hô-va đã chê-chối lìa bỏ dòng dõi nầy, mà Ngài tức giận. 30Ðức Giê-hô-va phán: Con cái Giu-đa đã làm điều ác trước mắt ta, chúng nó đặt những vật gớm ghiếc trong nhà được xưng bằng danh ta, để làm cho ô uế. 31Chúng nó đã xây các nơi cao của Tô-phết, trong trũng của con trai Hi-nôm, đặng đốt con trai con gái mình trong lửa, ấy là điều ta chẳng từng dạy, là điều ta chẳng hề nghĩ đến. 32Vậy nên, Ðức Giê-hô-va phán: Nầy, những ngày đến, bấy giờ sẽ không gọi là Tô-phết và trũng của con trai Hi-nôm nữa, mà gọi là trũng của sự chém giết; vì người ta sẽ chôn kẻ chết tại Tô-phết, cho đến thiếu chỗ chôn. 33Những thây của dân nầy sẽ làm đồ ăn cho chim trời và thú vật dưới đất, chẳng ai xua đuổi. 34Bấy giờ ta sẽ làm cho các thành của Giê-ru-sa-lem hết tiếng kêu vui reo mừng tiếng của rể mới và dâu mới, vì đất nầy sẽ trở nên hoang vu.
1The word that came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying, 2“Stand in the gate of Yahweh’s house, and proclaim there this word, and say, ‘Hear Yahweh’s word, all you of Judah, who enter in at these gates to worship Yahweh.’” 3Thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, “Amend your ways and your doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place. 4Don’t trust in lying words, saying, ‛Yahweh’s temple, Yahweh’s temple, Yahweh’s temple, are these.’ 5For if you thoroughly amend your ways and your doings; if you thoroughly execute justice between a man and his neighbor; 6if you don’t oppress the foreigner, the fatherless, and the widow, and don’t shed innocent blood in this place, neither walk after other gods to your own hurt: 7then I will cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers, from of old even forever more. 8Behold, you trust in lying words, that can’t profit. 9Will you steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense to Baal, and walk after other gods that you have not known, 10and come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, ‛We are delivered;’ that you may do all these abominations? 11Has this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, I, even I, have seen it,” says Yahweh. 12“But go now to my place which was in Shiloh, where I caused my name to dwell at the first, and see what I did to it for the wickedness of my people Israel. 13Now, because you have done all these works,” says Yahweh, “and I spoke to you, rising up early and speaking, but you didn’t hear; and I called you, but you didn’t answer: 14therefore will I do to the house which is called by my name, in which you trust, and to the place which I gave to you and to your fathers, as I did to Shiloh. 15I will cast you out of my sight, as I have cast out all your brothers, even the whole seed of Ephraim. 16“Therefore don’t pray for this people, neither lift up a cry nor prayer for them, neither make intercession to me; for I will not hear you. 17Don’t you see what they do in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem? 18The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead the dough, to make cakes to the queen of the sky, and to pour out drink offerings to other gods, that they may provoke me to anger. 19Do they provoke me to anger? says Yahweh. “Don’t they provoke themselves, to the confusion of their own faces?” 20Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: “Behold, my anger and my wrath shall be poured out on this place, on man, and on animal, and on the trees of the field, and on the fruit of the ground; and it shall burn, and shall not be quenched.” 21Thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel: “Add your burnt offerings to your sacrifices, and eat meat. 22For I didn’t speak to your fathers, nor command them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices: 23but this thing I commanded them, saying, ‘Listen to my voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be my people; and walk in all the way that I command you, that it may be well with you.’ 24But they didn’t listen nor turn their ear, but walked in their own counsels and in the stubbornness of their evil heart, and went backward, and not forward. 25Since the day that your fathers came out of the land of Egypt to this day, I have sent to you all my servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending them: 26yet they didn’t listen to me, nor inclined their ear, but made their neck stiff: they did worse than their fathers. 27“You shall speak all these words to them; but they will not listen to you: you shall also call to them; but they will not answer you. 28You shall tell them, ‘This is the nation that has not listened to the voice of Yahweh their God, nor received instruction. Truth has perished, and is cut off from their mouth.’ 29Cut off your hair, and throw it away, and take up a lamentation on the bare heights; for Yahweh has rejected and forsaken the generation of his wrath. 30“For the children of Judah have done that which is evil in my sight,” says Yahweh. “They have set their abominations in the house which is called by my name, to defile it. 31They have built the high places of Topheth, which is in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire; which I didn’t command, nor did it come into my mind. 32Therefore behold, the days come”, says Yahweh, “that it shall no more be called Topheth, nor The valley of the son of Hinnom, but The valley of Slaughter; for they shall bury in Topheth, until there is no place to bury. 33The dead bodies of this people shall be food for the birds of the sky, and for the animals of the earth; and no one shall frighten them away. 34Then I will cause to cease from the cities of Judah, and from the streets of Jerusalem, the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride; for the land shall become a waste.”
1Het woord, dat tot Jeremia geschied is, van den HEERE, zeggende: 2Sta in de poort van des HEEREN huis, en roep aldaar dit woord uit, en zeg: Hoort des HEEREN woord, o gans Juda! gij, die door deze poorten ingaat, om den HEERE aan te bidden. 3Zo zegt de HEERE der heirscharen, de God Israels: Maakt uw wegen en uw handelingen goed, zo zal Ik ulieden doen wonen in deze plaats. 4Vertrouwt niet op valse woorden, zeggende: Des HEEREN tempel, des HEEREN tempel, des HEEREN tempel, zijn deze! 5Maar indien gij uw wegen en uw handelingen waarlijk zult goed maken; indien gij waarlijk zult recht doen tussen den man en tussen zijn naaste; 6De vreemdeling, wees en weduwe niet zult verdrukken, en geen onschuldig bloed in deze plaats vergieten; en andere goden niet zult nawandelen, ulieden ten kwade; 7Zo zal Ik u in deze plaats, in het land, dat Ik uw vaderen gegeven heb, doen wonen van eeuw tot eeuw. 8Ziet, gij vertrouwt u op valse woorden, die geen nut doen. 9Zult gij stelen, doodslaan en overspel bedrijven, en valselijk zweren, en Baal roken, en andere goden nawandelen, die gij niet kent? 10En dan komen en staan voor Mijn aangezicht in dit huis, dat naar Mijn Naam genoemd is, en zeggen: Wij zijn verlost, om al deze gruwelen te doen? 11Is dan dit huis, dat naar Mijn Naam genoemd is, in uw ogen een spelonk der moordenaren? Ziet, Ik heb het ook gezien, spreekt de HEERE. 12Want gaat nu henen naar Mijn plaats, die te Silo was, alwaar Ik Mijn Naam in het eerst had doen wonen; en ziet, wat Ik daaraan gedaan heb vanwege de boosheid van Mijn volk Israel. 13En nu, omdat gijlieden al deze werken doet, spreekt de HEERE, en Ik tot u gesproken heb, vroeg op zijnde en sprekende, maar gij niet gehoord hebt, en Ik u geroepen, maar gij niet geantwoord hebt; 14Zo zal Ik aan dit huis, dat naar Mijn Naam genoemd is, waarop gij vertrouwt, en aan deze plaats, die Ik u en uw vaderen gegeven heb, doen, gelijk als Ik aan Silo gedaan heb. 15En Ik zal ulieden van Mijn aangezicht wegwerpen, gelijk als Ik al uw broederen, het ganse zaad van Efraim, weggeworpen heb. 16Gij dan, bid niet voor dit volk, en hef geen geschrei noch gebed voor hen op, en loop Mij niet aan; want Ik zal u niet horen. 17Ziet gij niet, wat zij doen in de steden van Juda, en op de straten van Jeruzalem? 18De kinderen lezen hout op, en de vaders steken het vuur aan, en de vrouwen kneden het deeg, om gebeelde koeken te maken voor de Melecheth des hemels, en anderen goden drankofferen te offeren, om Mij verdriet aan te doen. 19Doen zij Mij verdriet aan? spreekt de HEERE. Doen zij het zichzelven niet aan, tot beschaming huns aangezichts? 20Daarom zegt de Heere HEERE alzo: Ziet, Mijn toorn en Mijn grimmigheid zal uitgestort worden over deze plaats, over de mensen en over de beesten, en over het geboomte des velds, en over de vrucht des aardrijks; en zal branden, en niet uitgeblust worden. 21Zo zegt de HEERE der heirscharen, de God Israels: Doet uw brandofferen tot uw slachtofferen, en eet vlees. 22Want Ik heb met uw vaderen, ten dage als Ik hen uit Egypteland uitvoerde, niet gesproken, noch hun geboden van zaken des brandoffers of slachtoffers. 23Maar deze zaak heb Ik hun geboden, zeggende: Hoort naar Mijn stem, zo zal Ik u tot een God zijn, en gij zult Mij tot een volk zijn; en wandelt in al den weg, dien Ik u gebieden zal, opdat het u welga. 24Doch zij hebben niet gehoord, noch hun oor geneigd, maar gewandeld in de raadslagen, in het goeddunken van hun boos hart; en zij zijn achterwaarts gekeerd, en niet voorwaarts. 25Van dien dag af, dat uw vaders uit Egypteland zijn uitgegaan, tot op dezen dag, zo heb Ik tot u gezonden al Mijn knechten, de profeten, dagelijks vroeg op zijnde en zendende. 26Doch zij hebben naar Mij niet gehoord, noch hun oor geneigd; maar zij hebben hun nek verhard, zij hebben het erger gemaakt dan hun vaders. 27Ook zult gij al deze woorden tot hen spreken, maar zij zullen naar u niet horen; gij zult wel tot hen roepen, maar zij zullen u niet antwoorden. 28Daarom zeg tot hen: Dit is het volk, dat naar de stem des HEEREN, zijns Gods, niet hoort, en de tucht niet aanneemt; de waarheid is ondergegaan, en uitgeroeid van hun mond. 29Scheer uw hoofdhaar af, o Jeruzalem! en werp het weg, en verhef een weeklacht op de hoge plaatsen; want de HEERE heeft het geslacht Zijner verbolgenheid verworpen en verlaten. 30Want de kinderen van Juda hebben gedaan, dat kwaad is in Mijn ogen, spreekt de HEERE; zij hebben hun verfoeiselen gesteld in het huis, dat naar Mijn Naam genoemd is, om dat te verontreinigen. 31En zij hebben gebouwd de hoogten van Tofeth, dat in het dal des zoons van Hinnom is, om hun zonen en hun dochteren met vuur te verbranden; hetwelk Ik niet heb geboden, noch in Mijn hart is opgekomen. 32Daarom ziet, de dagen komen, spreekt de HEERE, dat het niet meer zal geheten worden Tofeth, noch dal des zoons van Hinnom, maar moorddal; en zij zullen ze in Tofeth begraven, omdat er geen plaats zal zijn. 33En de dode lichamen dezes volks zullen het gevogelte des hemels, en het gedierte der aarde tot spijze zijn, en niemand zal ze afschrikken. 34En Ik zal uit de steden van Juda en uit de straten van Jeruzalem doen ophouden de stem der vrolijkheid en de stem der vreugde, de stem des bruidegoms en de stem der bruid; want het land zal tot een verwoesting worden.
