1Hãy đi dạo các đường phố Giê-ru-sa-lem, và nhìn xem, Hãy dò hỏi tìm kiếm nơi các chợ, thử có thấy một người chăng, nếu có một người làm sự công bình, tìm sự trung tín, thì ta sẽ tha thứ cho thành ấy. 2Dầu chúng nó nói rằng: Thật như Ðức Giê-hô-va hằng sống! ấy cũng là thề dối! 3Hỡi Ðức Giê-hô-va, há chẳng phải mắt Ngài đoái xem sự trung tín sao?... Ngài đánh chúng nó, chúng nó chẳng biết lo buồn, Ngài diệt đi, chúng nó chẳng chịu dạy dỗ. Chúng nó tự làm cứng mặt mình hơn vầng đá, chẳng khứng trở lại. 4Tôi bèn nói: Ðó thật là kẻ nghèo hèn, ngu muội, vì không biết đường lối của Ðức Giê-hô-va, luật pháp của Ðức Chúa Trời mình. 5Tôi sẽ đến cùng những người sang trọng mà nói với họ, vì họ biết rõ đường lối của Ðức Giê-hô-va, sự công bình của Ðức Chúa Trời mình... Song, những người nầy hợp ý cùng nhau mà bỏ ách dứt dây! 6Vậy nên sư tử trong rừng sẽ giết họ đi, muông sói nơi sa mạc diệt họ đi, beo đương rình ngoài thành họ, hễ ai ra khỏi đó, sẽ bị cắn xé! Vì tội lỗi của họ rất nhiều, sự bội nghịch của họ càng thêm. 7Ta tha thứ ngươi sao được? Các con trai ngươi đã lìa bỏ ta, thề bởi những thần không phải là thần. Ta đã khiến chúng nó ăn no, mà chúng nó thì phạm tội tà dâm, nhóm nhau cả lũ trong nhà đĩ. 8Chúng nó cũng như con ngựa mập chạy lung, mỗi một người theo sau vợ kẻ lân cận mình mà hí. 9Ðức Giê-hô-va phán: Ta sẽ chẳng thăm phạt vì những sự đó hay sao? Thần ta há chẳng trả thù một nước như vậy hay sao? 10Hãy leo lên những vách tường nó và phá đổ đi; nhưng đừng diệt hết. Hãy tỉa bỏ những nhánh nó, vì chẳng thuộc về Ðức Giê-hô-va. 11Vì nhà Y-sơ-ra-ên và nhà Giu-đa đã dùng cách quỉ quyệt đối với ta, Ðức Giê-hô-va phán vậy. 12Chúng nó đã chối bỏ Ðức Giê-hô-va, và nói rằng: Chẳng phải là Ngài! Hoạn nạn sẽ chẳng lâm trên chúng ta; chúng ta sẽ chẳng gặp gươm dao đói kém. 13Các đấng tiên tri sẽ trở nên gió, đạo chẳng ở trong họ; họ sẽ gặp phải như vậy. 14Vậy nên Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời vạn quân phán như vầy: Vì các ngươi đã nói lời đó, nầy, ta sẽ khiến lời ta nên như lửa trong miệng ngươi, dân nầy sẽ như củi, và lửa ấy sẽ nuốt nó. 15Ðức Giê-hô-va phán: Hỡi nhà Y-sơ-ra-ên, ta sẽ khiến một dân tộc mạnh, tức một dân tộc cũ, một dân tộc mà ngươi chẳng biết tiếng, chẳng hiểu lời, từ phương xa đến nghịch cùng ngươi. 16Cái bao tên nó giống như mồ mả mở ra; chúng nó đều là mạnh bạo. 17Nó sẽ ăn mùa màng và bánh ngươi, là vật mà con trai con gái ngươi phải ăn; nó sẽ ăn bầy chiên và bầy bò ngươi, ăn cây nho và cây vả ngươi. Nó sẽ lấy gươm hủy phá các thành vững bền của ngươi, là nơi mà ngươi trông cậy! 18Ðức Giê-hô-va phán: Dầu vậy, cũng trong những ngày đó, ta sẽ chẳng diệt hết các ngươi đâu. 19Xảy ra khi các ngươi nói rằng: Sao Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời chúng tôi đã làm mọi sự nầy cho chúng tôi? thì ngươi khá bảo chúng nó rằng: Như các ngươi đã lìa bỏ ta và hầu việc các thần ngoại trong đất mình thể nào, thì các ngươi cũng sẽ hầu việc các dân ngoại trong một đất chẳng thuộc về mình thể ấy. 20Hãy rao những lời nầy cho nhà Gia-cốp; hãy truyền ra trong Giu-đa, nói rằng: 21Hỡi dân ngu muội và không hiểu biết, là dân có mắt mà không thấy, có tai mà không nghe kia, hãy nghe điều nầy. 22Ðức Giê-hô-va phán: Các ngươi chẳng kính sợ ta, chẳng run rẩy trước mặt ta sao? Ta là Ðấng đã lấy cát làm bờ cõi biển, bởi một mạng lịnh đời đời, không vuợt qua được. Sóng biển dầu động, cũng không thắng được; biển dầu gầm rống, cũng không qua khỏi nó; 23nhưng dân nầy thì lại có lòng ngoa ngạnh và bạn nghịch, hết thảy đều dấy loạn và đi. 24Chúng nó chẳng nói trong lòng rằng: Chúng ta hãy kính sợ Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời mình tức là Ðấng tùy thời ban cho mưa đầu mùa và mưa cuối mùa, lại vì chúng ta giữ các tuần lễ nhứt định về mùa gặt. 25Sự gian ác các ngươi đã làm cho những sự ấy xa các ngươi; tội lỗi các ngươi ngăn trở các ngươi được phước. 26Vì trong vòng dân ta có những kẻ ác; chúng nó hay rình rập, như người nhử chim, gài bẫy giăng lưới, mà bắt người ta. 27Nhà chúng nó đầy sự dối trá, cũng như lồng đầy chim vậy, vì đó chúng nó trở nên lớn và giàu. 28Chúng nó mập béo và mởn mờ. Sự hung ác chúng nó quá đỗi; chẳng xét lẽ cho kẻ mồ côi, hầu cho được thạnh lợi! Chúng nó chẳng làm sự công bình cho kẻ nghèo. 29Ðức Giê-hô-va phán: Ta sẽ chẳng thăm phạt về những sự ấy sao? Thần ta chẳng trả thù một nước dường ấy sao? 30Trong đất nầy đã xảy ra sự lạ lùng đáng gớm. 31Những kẻ tiên tri nói tiên tri dối, các thầy tế lễ bởi đó mà cầm quyền! Dân ta đều lấy làm ưa thích. Khi đến cuối cùng, các ngươi sẽ làm thế nào?
1“Run back and forth through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in the broad places of it, if you can find a man, if there are any who does justly, who seeks truth; and I will pardon her. 2Though they say, ‘As Yahweh lives;’ surely they swear falsely.” 3O Yahweh, don’t your eyes look on truth? You have stricken them, but they were not grieved. You have consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction. They have made their faces harder than a rock. They have refused to return. 4Then I said, “Surely these are poor. They are foolish; for they don’t know the way of Yahweh, nor the law of their God. 5I will go to the great men, and will speak to them; for they know the way of Yahweh, and the law of their God.” But these with one accord have broken the yoke, and burst the bonds. 6Therefore a lion out of the forest shall kill them, a wolf of the evenings shall destroy them, a leopard shall watch against their cities; everyone who goes out there shall be torn in pieces; because their transgressions are many, and their backsliding is increased. 7“How can I pardon you? Your children have forsaken me, and sworn by what are no gods. When I had fed them to the full, they committed adultery, and assembled themselves in troops at the prostitutes’ houses. 8They were as fed horses roaming at large: everyone neighed after his neighbor’s wife. 9Shouldn’t I punish them for these things?” says Yahweh; “and shouldn’t my soul be avenged on such a nation as this? 10“Go up on her walls, and destroy; but don’t make a full end. Take away her branches; for they are not Yahweh’s. 11For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have dealt very treacherously against me,” says Yahweh. 12They have denied Yahweh, and said, “It is not he; neither shall evil come on us; neither shall we see sword nor famine. 13The prophets shall become wind, and the word is not in them. Thus shall it be done to them.” 14Therefore thus says Yahweh, the God of Armies, “Because you speak this word, behold, I will make my words in your mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them. 15Behold, I will bring a nation on you from far, house of Israel,” says Yahweh. “It is a mighty nation. It is an ancient nation, a nation whose language you don’t know, neither understand what they say. 16Their quiver is an open tomb, they are all mighty men. 17They shall eat up your harvest, and your bread, which your sons and your daughters should eat. They shall eat up your flocks and your herds. They shall eat up your vines and your fig trees. They shall beat down your fortified cities, in which you trust, with the sword. 18“But even in those days,” says Yahweh, “I will not make a full end with you. 19It will happen, when you say, ‘Why has Yahweh our God done all these things to us?’ Then you shall say to them, ‘Just like you have forsaken me, and served foreign gods in your land, so you shall serve strangers in a land that is not yours.’ 20“Declare this in the house of Jacob, and publish it in Judah, saying, 21‘Hear now this, foolish people, and without understanding; who have eyes, and don’t see; who have ears, and don’t hear: 22Don’t you fear me?’ says Yahweh ‘Won’t you tremble at my presence, who have placed the sand for the bound of the sea, by a perpetual decree, that it can’t pass it? and though its waves toss themselves, yet they can’t prevail; though they roar, yet they can’t pass over it.’ 23“But this people has a revolting and a rebellious heart; they have revolted and gone. 24Neither do they say in their heart, ‘Let us now fear Yahweh our God, who gives rain, both the former and the latter, in its season; who preserves to us the appointed weeks of the harvest.’ 25“Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withheld good from you. 26For among my people are found wicked men. They watch, as fowlers lie in wait. They set a trap. They catch men. 27As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit. Therefore they have become great, and grew rich. 28They have grown fat. They shine; yes, they excel in deeds of wickedness. They don’t plead the cause, the cause of the fatherless, that they may prosper; and they don’t judge the right of the needy. 29“Shall I not punish for these things?” says Yahweh. “Shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this? 30“An astonishing and horrible thing has happened in the land. 31The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests rule by their own authority; and my people love to have it so. What will you do in the end of it?
1Gaat om door de wijken van Jeruzalem, en ziet nu toe, en verneemt, en zoekt op haar straten, of gij iemand vindt, of er een is, die recht doet, die waarheid zoekt, zo zal Ik haar genadig zijn. 2En of zij al zeggen: Zo waarachtig als de HEERE leeft! zo zweren zij toch valselijk. 3O HEERE! zien Uw ogen niet naar waarheid? Gij hebt hen geslagen, maar zij hebben geen pijn gevoeld; Gij hebt hen verteerd, maar zij hebben geweigerd de tucht aan te nemen; zij hebben hun aangezichten harder gemaakt dan een steenrots, zij hebben geweigerd zich te bekeren. 4Doch ik zeide: Zekerlijk, deze zijn arm; zij handelen zottelijk, omdat zij den weg des HEEREN, het recht hun Gods niet weten. 5Ik zal gaan tot de groten, en met hen spreken, want die weten den weg des HEEREN, het recht huns Gods; maar zij hadden te zamen het juk verbroken, en de banden verscheurd. 6Daarom heeft hen een leeuw uit het woud verslagen, een wolf der wildernissen zal hen verwoesten; een luipaard waakt tegen hun steden; al wie uit dezelve uitgaat, zal verscheurd worden; want hun overtredingen zijn vermenigvuldigd, hun afkeringen zijn machtig veel geworden. 7Hoe zou Ik over zulks u vergeven? Uw kinderen verlaten Mij, en zweren bij hen, die geen God zijn; als Ik hen verzadigd heb, zo bedrijven zij overspel, en verzamelen bij hopen in het hoerenhuis. 8Als welgevoederde hengsten zijn zij vroeg op; zij hunkeren een iegelijk naar zijns naasten huisvrouw. 9Zou Ik over die dingen geen bezoeking doen? spreekt de HEERE. Of zou Mijn ziel zich niet wreken aan zulk een volk, als dit is? 10Beklimt haar muren, en verderft ze (doch maakt geen voleinding); doet haar spitsen weg, want zij zijn des HEEREN niet. 11Want het huis van Israel en het huis van Juda hebben gans trouwelooslijk tegen Mij gehandeld, spreekt de HEERE. 12Zij verloochenen den HEERE, en zeggen: Hij is het niet, en ons zal geen kwaad overkomen, wij zullen noch zwaard noch honger zien. 13Ja, die profeten zullen tot wind worden, want het woord is niet bij hen; hun zelven zal zo geschieden. 14Daarom zegt de HEERE, de God der heirscharen, alzo, omdat gijlieden dit woord spreekt: Ziet, Ik zal Mijn woorden in uw mond tot vuur maken, en dit volk tot hout, en het zal hen verteren. 15Ziet, Ik zal over ulieden een volk van verre brengen, o huis Israels! spreekt de HEERE; het is een sterk volk, het is een zeer oud volk, een volk, welks spraak gij niet zult kennen, en niet horen, wat het spreken zal. 16Zijn pijlkoker is als een open graf; zij zijn altemaal helden. 17En het zal uw oogst en uw brood opeten, dat uw zonen en uw dochteren zouden eten; het zal uw schapen en uw runderen opeten; het zal uw wijnstok en uw vijgeboom opeten; uw vaste steden, op dewelke gij vertrouwt, zal het arm maken, door het zwaard. 18Nochtans zal Ik ook in die dagen, spreekt de HEERE, geen voleinding met ulieden maken. 19En het zal geschieden, wanneer gij zult zeggen: Waarom heeft ons de HEERE, onze God, al deze dingen gedaan? dat gij tot hen zeggen zult: Gelijk als gijlieden Mij hebt verlaten, en vreemde goden in uw land gediend, alzo zult gij de uitlandse dienen, in een land, dat het uwe niet is. 20Verkondigt dit in het huis van Jakob, en laat het horen in Juda, zeggende: 21Hoort nu dit, gij dwaas en harteloos volk! die ogen hebben, maar zien niet, die oren hebben, maar horen niet. 22Zult gijlieden Mij niet vrezen? spreekt de HEERE; zult gij voor Mijn aangezicht niet beven? Die der zee het zand tot een paal gesteld heb, met een eeuwige inzetting, dat zij daarover niet zal gaan; ofschoon haar golven zich bewegen, zo zullen zij toch niet vermogen, ofschoon zij bruisen, zo zullen zij toch daarover niet gaan. 23Maar dit volk heeft een afvallig en wederspannig hart; zij zijn afgevallen en heengegaan; 24En zij zeggen niet in hun hart: Laat ons nu den HEERE, onzen God, vrezen, Die den regen geeft, zo vroegen regen als spaden regen, op Zijn tijd; Die ons de weken, de gezette tijden van den oogst, bewaart. 25Uw ongerechtigheden wenden die dingen af, en uw zonden weren dat goede van ulieden. 26Want onder Mijn volk worden goddelozen gevonden; een ieder van hen loert, gelijk zich de vogelvangers schikken; zij zetten een verderfelijken strik, zij vangen de mensen. 27Gelijk een kouw vol is van gevogelte, alzo zijn hun huizen vol van bedrog; daarom zijn zij groot en rijk geworden. 28Zij zijn vet, zij zijn glad, zelfs de daden der bozen gaan zij te boven; de rechtzaak richten zij niet, zelfs de rechtzaak des wezen, nochtans zijn zij voorspoedig; ook oordelen zij het recht der nooddruftigen niet. 29Zou Ik over die dingen geen bezoeking doen? spreekt de HEERE; zou Mijn ziel zich niet wreken aan zulk een volk als dit is? 30Een schrikkelijke en afschuwelijke zaak geschiedt er in het land. 31De profeten profeteren valselijk, en de priesters heersen door hun handen; en Mijn volk heeft het gaarne alzo; maar wat zult gij ten einde van dien maken?
