1Năm thứ mười về đời vua Sê-đê-kia nước Giu-đa, có lời Ðức Giê-hô-va phán cho Giê-rê-mi. Ấy là năm thứ mười tám về đời vua Nê-bu-cát-nết-sa. 2Bấy giờ đạo binh của vua Ba-by-lôn vây thành Giê-ru-sa-lem; còn tiên tri Giê-rê-mi thì đã bị giam nơi hành lang lính canh trong cung vua Giu-đa. 3Vì Sê-đê-kia, vua Giu-đa, đã giam người, nói rằng: Làm sao ngươi nói tiên tri rằng: Ðức Giê-hô-va phán như vầy: Nầy, ta sẽ phó thành nầy vào tay vua Ba-by-lôn, người sẽ chiếm lấy; 4Sê-đê-kia, vua Giu-đa, sẽ chẳng tránh khỏi tay người Canh-đê, nhưng chắc sẽ bị nộp trong tay vua Ba-by-lôn, sẽ nói cùng vua ấy miệng đối miệng, mắt nhìn mắt; 5vua ấy sẽ bắt Sê-đê-kia về Ba-by-lôn, người sẽ ở đó cho đến chừng nào ta thăm viếng nó, Ðức Giê-hô-va phán vậy; các ngươi dầu đánh với người Canh-đê sẽ chẳng được may mắn? 6Giê-rê-mi nói: Có lời của Ðức Giê-hô-va phán cho tôi rằng: 7Nầy, Ha-na-nê-ên, con trai Sa-lum chú ngươi, sẽ đến nơi ngươi mà nói rằng: Hãy mua ruộng của ta tại A-na-tốt; vì ngươi có phép chuộc để mua lấy. 8Ha-na-nê-ên, con trai chú tôi, bèn theo lời Ðức Giê-hô-va, đến thăm tôi trong hành lang lính canh, và nói rằng: Ta xin ngươi hãy mua ruộng của ta ở A-na-tốt, trong đất Bên-gia-min, vì ngươi có phép hưởng gia tài và chuộc lấy, khá mua lấy cho mình. Bấy giờ tôi nhìn biết rằng ấy là lời của Ðức Giê-hô-va. 9Vậy tôi mua ruộng ở A-na-tốt của Ha-na-mê-ên, con trai chú tôi, và tôi cân mười bảy siếc-lơ bạc cho người. 10Tôi viết khế và niêm phong, mời người làm chứng và cân bạc trong cái cân. 11Tôi liền lấy tờ khế bán, cả khế đã niêm phong theo lề luật và thói tục, và khế để ngỏ nữa. 12Tôi trao khế mua cho Ba-rúc, con trai Nê-ri-gia, cháu Ma-a-sê-gia, trước mặt Ha-na-mê-ên, con trai chú tôi, và trước mặt những kẻ làm chứng có ký tên vào khế nữa, cũng ở trước mặt mọi người Giu-đa đương ngồi trong hành lang lính canh. 13Ðoạn, tại trước mặt họ tôi dặn Ba-rúc rằng: 14Ðức Giê-hô-va vạn quân Ðức Chúa Trời của Y-sơ-ra-ên, phán như vầy: Hãy lấy những tờ khế nầy, khế mua niêm phong, và khế để ngỏ, và để trong một cái bình đất, đặng những tờ khế ấy còn được lâu ngày. 15Vì Ðức Giê-hô-va vạn quân, Ðức Chúa Trời của Y-sơ-ra-ên, phán như vầy: Người ta sẽ còn mua nhà, ruộng, và vườn nho trong đất nầy. 16Khi tôi đã trao tờ khế mua cho Ba-rúc, con trai Nê-ri-gia, thì tôi cầu nguyện cùng Ðức Giê-hô-va rằng: 17Ôi! Hỡi Chúa Giê-hô-va! Chính Ngài đã dùng quyền phép lớn và cánh tay giơ ra mà làm nên trời và đất; chẳng có sự gì là khó quá cho Ngài cả. 18Ngài to sự thương xót ra cho muôn vàn, báo trả sự gian ác ông cha vào mình con cháu nối sau. Ngài là Ðức Chúa Trời lớn, là Ðấng toàn năng, danh Ngài là Ðức Giê-hô-va vạn quân. 19Mưu mô Ngài lớn lao, và công việc thì có phép tắc. Mắt Ngài mở soi trên mọi đường lối con trai loài người, đặng báo cho mỗi người theo đường lối nó, và theo quả của việc làm. 20Ngài đã làm nên những dấu lại sự lạ trong đất Ê-díp-tô, cho đến ngày nay, trong Y-sơ-ra-ên cũng như trong những người khác, Ngài đã được danh tiếng như mình hiện có. 21Ngài đã dùng dấu lạ, sự lạ, tay mạnh, và cánh tay giơ ra cùng sự kinh khiếp lớn mà đem dân Y-sơ-ra-ên mình ra khỏi đất Ê-díp-tô. 22Ngài ban cho họ đất nầy, là đất đượm sữa và mật, mà Ngài đã thề ban cho tổ phụ họ xưa kia. 23Họ đã vào lấy đất nầy làm sản nghiệp, nhưng không vâng theo tiếng Ngài, không bước theo luật Ngài, chẳng hề làm một điều gì về mọi sự mà Ngài đã dặn phải làm. Vì vậy Ngài đã giáng mọi tai vạ nầy trên họ. 24Nầy, những đồn lũy! chúng nó đã bước tới thành, để chiếm lấy nó. Vì cớ gươm dao, đói kém, ôn dịch, nên thành bị nộp trong tay người Canh-đê đương tranh chiến với nó. Ðiều Ngài phán thì đã xảy đến, và nầy, Ngài thấy! 25Hỡi Chúa Giê-hô-va, Ngài đã phán cùng tôi rằng: Hãy dùng giá bạc mua ruộng nầy, và mời những người làm chứng. Mà kìa, thành đã nộp trong tay người Canh-đê! 26Có lời Ðức Giê-hô-va được phán cho Giê-rê-mi như vầy: 27Nầy, ta là Giê-hô-va, Ðức Chúa Trời của mọi xác thịt; có sự gì khó quá cho ta chăng? 28Vậy nên, Ðức Giê-hô-va phán như vầy: Nầy, ta sẽ phó thành nầy vào tay người Canh-đê, vào tay Nê-bu-cát-nết-sa, vua Ba-by-lôn, người sẽ chiếm lấy. 29Những người Canh-đê đương đánh thành nầy thì sẽ đến, đặt lửa và đốt đi, đốt luôn những nhà mà người ta dâng hương cho Ba-anh tại trên mái, và làm lễ quán cho các thần khác, đặng chọc giận ta. 30Vả, con cái Y-sơ-ra-ên và con cái Giu-đa, từ thuở còn trẻ, chỉ làm điều dữ trước mặt ta; vì con cái Y-sơ-ra-ên chỉ lấy việc làm của tay mình mà chọc giận ta, Ðức Giê-hô-va phán vậy. 31Thành nầy đã làm cớ cho ta giận và tức, từ ngày đã xây lên cho đến ngày nay. Vậy nên, ta muốn cất nó đi khỏi trước mặt ta, 32vì cớ mọi điều ác mà con cái Y-sơ-ra-ên và con cái Giu-đa đã làm đặng chọc giận ta, chúng nó, vua, quan trưởng, thầy tế lễ, kẻ tiên tri chúng nó, người Giu-đa và dân cư Giê-ru-sa-lem nữa. 33Chúng nó không xây mặt lại ta, trở xây lưng lại. Dầu ta đã dạy chúng nó, dậy sớm mà răn bảo, nhưng chúng nó không nghe, chẳng nhận sự dạy dỗ. 34Chúng nó đã để những vật gớm ghiếc trong nhà được xưng bởi danh ta, để làm cho ô uế. 35Chúng nó đã xây các nơi cao của Ba-anh trong nơi trũng con trai Hi-nôm, khiến con trai con gái mình qua lửa, dâng cho Mô-lóc, là điều ta không truyền dạy; ta chẳng hề nghĩ đến rằng chúng nó có thể phạm một sự gớm ghiếc dường ấy mà làm cho Giu-đa phạm tội. 36Nên bấy giờ, về thành nầy, mà các ngươi nói rằng nó đã phó trong tay vua Ba-by-lôn bởi gươm dao, đói kém, ôn dịch, thì Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời của Y-sơ-ra-ên, phán như vầy: 37Nầy, ta sẽ thâu nhóm chúng nó từ mọi nước mà ta đã nhơn giận, thạnh nộ, tức mình quá mà đuổi chúng nó đến; ta sẽ đem chúng nó về trong chỗ nầy, khiến chúng nó ở yên ổn. 38Chúng nó sẽ làm dân ta, và ta sẽ làm Ðức Chúa Trời chúng nó. 39Ta sẽ ban cho chúng nó một lòng một đường lối như nhau, hầu cho kính sợ ta đời đời, để chúng nó và con cháu nối sau đều được phước. 40Ta sẽ lập giao ước đời đời với chúng nó rằng: ta sẽ không xây khỏi chúng nó để làm phước cho; và ta sẽ đặt sự kính sợ ta vào lòng, để chúng nó không còn lìa khỏi ta. 41Ta sẽ lấy làm vui mà làm phước cho, và chắc hết lòng hết linh hồn trồng chúng nó trong đất nầy. 42Ðức Giê-hô-va phán: Như ta đã giáng mọi tai vạ lớn trên dân nầy, ta cũng sẽ giáng cho mọi sự lành ta đã hứa. 43Người ta sẽ mua ruộng trong đất nầy mà chúng nó nói rằng: Ấy là một nơi hoang vu, không có loài người, cũng không có loài thú, đã bị nộp trong tay người Canh-đê. 44Người ta sẽ dùng giá bạc mua ruộng tại đó, viết khế bán, niêm phong lại, mời người làm chứng, trong đất Bên-gia-min và chung quanh Giê-ru-sa-lem, trong các thành Giu-đa và trong các thành miền núi, trong các thành đồng bằng và các thành phương nam. Vì ta sẽ khiến những phu tù trở về, Ðức Giê-hô-va phán vậy.
1The word that came to Jeremiah from Yahweh in the tenth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, which was the eighteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar. 2Now at that time the king of Babylon’s army was besieging Jerusalem; and Jeremiah the prophet was shut up in the court of the guard, which was in the king of Judah’s house. 3For Zedekiah king of Judah had shut him up, saying, Why do you prophesy, and say, Thus says Yahweh, Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall take it; 4and Zedekiah king of Judah shall not escape out of the hand of the Chaldeans, but shall surely be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon, and shall speak with him mouth to mouth, and his eyes shall see his eyes; 5and he shall bring Zedekiah to Babylon, and he shall be there until I visit him, says Yahweh: though you fight with the Chaldeans, you shall not prosper? 6Jeremiah said, Yahweh’s word came to me, saying, 7Behold, Hanamel the son of Shallum your uncle shall come to you, saying, Buy my field that is in Anathoth; for the right of redemption is yours to buy it. 8So Hanamel my uncle’s son came to me in the court of the guard according to Yahweh’s word, and said to me, Please buy my field that is in Anathoth, which is in the land of Benjamin; for the right of inheritance is yours, and the redemption is yours; buy it for yourself. Then I knew that this was Yahweh’s word. 9I bought the field that was in Anathoth of Hanamel my uncle’s son, and weighed him the money, even seventeen shekels of silver. 10I subscribed the deed, and sealed it, and called witnesses, and weighed him the money in the balances. 11So I took the deed of the purchase, both that which was sealed, containing the terms and conditions, and that which was open; 12and I delivered the deed of the purchase to Baruch the son of Neriah, the son of Mahseiah, in the presence of Hanamel my uncle’s son, and in the presence of the witnesses who subscribed the deed of the purchase, before all the Jews who sat in the court of the guard. 13I commanded Baruch before them, saying, 14Thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel: Take these deeds, this deed of the purchase which is sealed, and this deed which is open, and put them in an earthen vessel; that they may continue many days. 15For thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel: Houses and fields and vineyards shall yet again be bought in this land. 16Now after I had delivered the deed of the purchase to Baruch the son of Neriah, I prayed to Yahweh, saying, 17Ah Lord Yahweh! Behold, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm; there is nothing too hard for you, 18who show loving kindness to thousands, and recompense the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them; the great, the mighty God, Yahweh of Armies is his name; 19great in counsel, and mighty in work; whose eyes are open to all the ways of the sons of men, to give everyone according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings: 20who performed signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, even to this day, both in Israel and among other men; and made yourself a name, as in this day; 21and brought your people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs, and with wonders, and with a strong hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with great terror; 22and gave them this land, which you swore to their fathers to give them, a land flowing with milk and honey; 23and they came in, and possessed it, but they didn’t obey your voice, neither walked in your law; they have done nothing of all that you commanded them to do: therefore you have caused all this evil to come upon them. 24Behold, the mounds, they have come to the city to take it; and the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans who fight against it, because of the sword, and of the famine, and of the pestilence; and what you have spoken has happened; and behold, you see it. 25You have said to me, Lord Yahweh, Buy the field for money, and call witnesses; whereas the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans. 26Then Yahweh’s word came to Jeremiah, saying, 27Behold, I am Yahweh, the God of all flesh: is there anything too hard for me? 28Therefore thus says Yahweh: Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the Chaldeans, and into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and he shall take it: 29and the Chaldeans, who fight against this city, shall come and set this city on fire, and burn it, with the houses, on whose roofs they have offered incense to Baal, and poured out drink offerings to other gods, to provoke me to anger. 30For the children of Israel and the children of Judah have done only that which was evil in my sight from their youth; for the children of Israel have only provoked me to anger with the work of their hands, says Yahweh. 31For this city has been to me a provocation of my anger and of my wrath from the day that they built it even to this day; that I should remove it from before my face, 32because of all the evil of the children of Israel and of the children of Judah, which they have done to provoke me to anger, they, their kings, their princes, their priests, and their prophets, and the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem. 33They have turned to me the back, and not the face: and though I taught them, rising up early and teaching them, yet they have not listened to receive instruction. 34But they set their abominations in the house which is called by my name, to defile it. 35They built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through fire to Molech; which I didn’t command them, neither did it come into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin. 36Now therefore thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, concerning this city, about which you say, It is given into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence: 37Behold, I will gather them out of all the countries, where I have driven them in my anger, and in my wrath, and in great indignation; and I will bring them again to this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely: 38and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: 39and I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear me forever, for their good, and of their children after them: 40and I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from following them, to do them good; and I will put my fear in their hearts, that they may not depart from me. 41Yes, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul. 42For thus says Yahweh: Like as I have brought all this great evil on this people, so will I bring on them all the good that I have promised them. 43Fields shall be bought in this land, about which you say, It is desolate, without man or animal; it is given into the hand of the Chaldeans. 44Men shall buy fields for money, and subscribe the deeds, and seal them, and call witnesses, in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, and in the cities of the hill country, and in the cities of the lowland, and in the cities of the South: for I will cause their captivity to return, says Yahweh.

Toen merkte ik, dat het des HEEREN woord was. 9Dies kocht ik van Hanameel, mijns ooms zoon, het veld, dat bij Anathoth is; en ik woog hem het geld toe, zeventien zilveren sikkelen. 10En ik onderschreef den brief en verzegelde dien, en deed het getuigen betuigen, als ik het geld op de weegschaal gewogen had. 11En ik nam den koopbrief, die verzegeld was naar het gebod en de inzettingen, en den open brief; 12En ik gaf den koopbrief aan Baruch, den zoon van Nerija, den zoon van Machseja, voor de ogen van Hanameel, mijns ooms zoon, en voor de ogen der getuigen die den koopbrief hadden onderschreven; voor de ogen van al de Joden, die in het voorhof der bewaring zaten. 13En ik beval Baruch voor hun ogen, zeggende: 14Zo zegt de HEERE der heirscharen, de God Israels: Neem deze brieven, dezen koopbrief, zo den verzegelden als dezen open brief, en doe ze in een aarden vat, opdat zij vele dagen mogen bestaan. 15Want zo zegt de HEERE der heirscharen, de God Israels: Er zullen nog huizen, en velden, en wijngaarden in dit land gekocht worden. 16Voorts, nadat ik den koopbrief aan Baruch, den zoon van Nerija, gegeven had, bad ik tot den HEERE, zeggende: 17Ach, Heere HEERE! Zie, Gij hebt de hemelen en de aarde gemaakt, door Uw grote kracht en door Uw uitgestrekten arm; geen ding is U te wonderlijk. 18Gij, Die goedertierenheid doet aan duizenden, en de ongerechtigheid der vaderen vergeldt in den schoot hunner kinderen na hen; Gij grote, Gij geweldige God, Wiens Naam is HEERE der heirscharen! 19Groot van raad en machtig van daad; want Uw ogen zijn open over alle wegen der mensenkinderen, om een iegelijk te geven naar zijn wegen, en naar de vrucht zijner handelingen. 20Gij, Die tekenen en wonderen gesteld hebt in Egypteland, tot op dezen dag, zo in Israel, als onder andere mensen, en hebt U een Naam gemaakt, als Hij is te dezen dage! 21En hebt Uw volk Israel uit Egypteland uitgevoerd, door tekenen en door wonderen, en door een sterke hand, en door een uitgestrekten arm, en door grote verschrikking. 22En hebt hun dit land gegeven, dat Gij hun vaderen gezworen hadt hun te zullen geven, een land vloeiende van melk en honig; 23Zij zijn er ook ingekomen en hebben het erfelijk bezeten, maar hebben Uwer stem niet gehoorzaamd, en in Uw wet niet gewandeld; zij hebben niets gedaan van alles, wat Gij hun geboden hadt te doen; dies hebt Gij hun al dit kwaad doen bejegenen. 24Zie, de wallen! zij zijn gekomen aan de stad, om die in te nemen, en de stad is gegeven in de hand der Chaldeen, die tegen haar strijden; vanwege het zwaard en den honger en de pestilentie; en wat Gij gesproken hebt, is geschied, en zie, Gij ziet het. 25Evenwel hebt Gij tot mij gezegd, Heere HEERE! koop u dat veld voor geld, en doe het getuigen betuigen; daar de stad in der Chaldeen hand gegeven is. 26Toen geschiedde des HEEREN woord tot Jeremia, zeggende: 27Zie, Ik ben de HEERE, de God van alle vlees; zou Mij enig ding te wonderlijk zijn? 28Daarom zegt de HEERE alzo: Zie, Ik geef deze stad in de hand der Chaldeen, en in de hand van Nebukadrezar, den koning van Babel, en hij zal ze innemen. 29En de Chaldeen, die tegen deze stad strijden, zullen er inkomen, en deze stad met vuur aansteken, en zullen ze verbranden, met de huizen, op welker daken zij aan Baal gerookt, en anderen goden drankofferen geofferd hebben, om Mij te vertoornen. 30Want de kinderen Israels en de kinderen van Juda hebben van hun jeugd aan alleenlijk gedaan, dat kwaad was in Mijn ogen; want de kinderen Israels hebben Mij door het werk hunner handen alleenlijk vertoornd, spreekt de HEERE. 31Want tot Mijn toorn en tot Mijn grimmigheid is Mij deze stad geweest, van den dag af, dat zij haar gebouwd hebben, tot op dezen dag toe; opdat Ik haar van Mijn aangezicht wegdeed; 32Om al de boosheid der kinderen Israels en der kinderen van Juda, die zij gedaan hebben om Mij te vertoornen, zij, hun koningen, hun vorsten, hun priesteren, en hun profeten, en de mannen van Juda, en de inwoners van Jeruzalem; 33Die Mij den nek hebben toegekeerd en niet het aangezicht; hoewel Ik hen leerde, vroeg op zijnde en lerende, evenwel hoorden zij niet, om tucht aan te nemen; 34Maar zij hebben hun verfoeiselen gesteld in het huis, dat naar Mijn Naam genoemd is, om dat te verontreinigen. 35En zij hebben de hoogten van Baal gebouwd, die in het dal des zoons van Hinnom zijn, om hun zonen en hun dochteren den Molech door het vuur te laten gaan; hetwelk Ik hun niet heb geboden, noch in Mijn hart is opgekomen, dat zij dezen gruwel zouden doen; opdat zij Juda mochten doen zondigen. 36En nu, daarom zegt de HEERE, de God Israels, alzo van deze stad, waar gij van zegt: Zij is gegeven in de hand des konings van Babel, door het zwaard, en door den honger, en door de pestilentie; 37Ziet, Ik zal hen vergaderen uit al de landen, waarhenen Ik hen zal verdreven hebben in Mijn toorn, en in Mijn grimmigheid, en in grote verbolgenheid; en Ik zal hen tot deze plaats wederbrengen, en zal hen zeker doen wonen. 38Ja, zij zullen Mij tot een volk zijn, en Ik zal hun tot een God zijn. 39En Ik zal hun enerlei hart en enerlei weg geven, om Mij te vrezen al de dagen, hun ten goede, mitsgaders hun kinderen na hen. 40En Ik zal een eeuwig verbond met hen maken, dat Ik van achter hen niet zal afkeren, opdat Ik hun weldoe; en Ik zal Mijn vreze in hun hart geven, dat zij niet van Mij afwijken. 41En Ik zal Mij over hen verblijden, dat Ik hun weldoe; en Ik zal hen getrouwelijk in dat land planten, met Mijn ganse hart en met Mijn ganse ziel. 42Want zo zegt de HEERE: Gelijk als Ik over dit volk gebracht heb al dit grote kwaad, alzo zal Ik over hen brengen al het goede, dat Ik over hen spreke. 43En er zullen velden gekocht worden in dit land, waarvan gij zegt: Het is woest, dat er geen mens noch beest in is; het is in der Chaldeen hand gegeven. 44Velden zal men voor geld kopen, en de brieven onderschrijven, en verzegelen, en getuigen doen betuigen, in het land van Benjamin, en in de plaatsen rondom Jeruzalem, en in de steden van Juda, en in de steden van het gebergte, en in de steden der laagte, en in de steden van het zuiden; want Ik zal hun gevangenis wenden, spreekt de HEERE.
