1Năm thứ chín về đời Sê-đê-kia, vua Giu-đa, tháng mười, Nê-bu-cát-nết-sa, vua Ba-by-lôn, đến với cả đạo binh mình, vây thành Giê-ru-sa-lem. 2Năm thứ mười một về đời Sê-đê-kia, tháng tư, ngày mồng chín, thành bị vỡ. 3Hết thảy các quan trưởng của vua Ba-by-lôn vào thành và ngồi cửa giữa. Ấy là Nẹt-gan-Sa-rết-sê, Sam-ga-Nê-bô, Sa-sê-kim, làm đầu hoạn quan, Nẹt-gan-Sa-rết-sê, làm đầu các bác sĩ, cùng các quan trưởng khác của vua Ba-by-lôn. 4Sê-đê-kia, vua Giu-đa cùng cả lính chiến vừa ngó thấy các người ấy, liền trốn ra khỏi thành trong ban đêm, theo con đường vườn vua, do cửa giữa hai bức thành, đi thẳng đến A-ra-ba. 5Nhưng đạo binh của người Canh-đê đuổi theo, và đuổi kịp Sê-đê-kia trong đồng Giê-ri-cô; thì bắt và đem về cho Nê-bu-cát-nết-sa, vua Ba-by-lôn, tại Ríp-la, trong đất Ha-mát. Tại đó, vua bị Nê-bu-cát-nết-sa đoán xét. 6Vua Ba-by-lôn giết các con trai Sê-đê-kia trước mặt vua ấy tại Ríp-la; vua Ba-by-lôn cũng giết các kẻ cả nước Giu-đa nữa. 7Ðoạn, khiến móc mắt vua Sê-đê-kia, dùng xiềng mà xiềng lại, để điệu về Ba-by-lôn. 8Người Canh-đê dùng lửa đốt cung vua và nhà cửa của dân sự, phá tường thành Giê-ru-sa-lem. 9Nê-bu-xa-a-đan, làm đầu thị vệ, bắt những người dân còn sót lại trong thành, và những kẻ hàng đầu, cùng dân sót lại trong đất, đem về làm phu tù bên nước Ba-by-lôn. 10Còn những những kẻ nghèo khó, không có sản nghiệp chi hết, thì Nê-bu-xa-a-đan, làm đầu thị vệ, để chúng nó lại trong đất Giu-đa; cùng một lúc ấy, người cấp cho chúng nó những vườn nho và ruộng. 11Nê-bu-cát-nết-sa, vua Ba-by-lôn, truyền lịnh cho Nê-bu-xa-a-đan, làm đầu thị vệ, về việc Giê-rê-mi rằng: 12Hãy đem người đi, săn sóc người, và đừng làm hại; nhưng phải đãi người theo ý muốn riêng của người. 13Nê-bu-xa-a-đan, làm đầu thị vệ, Nê-bu-sa-ban, làm đầu hoạn quan, Nẹt-gan-Sa-rết-sê, làm đầu bác sĩ, và hết thảy các quan tướng của vua Ba-by-lôn, 14sai tìm Giê-rê-mi trong hành lang lính canh, rồi trao người cho Ghê-đa-lia, con trai A-hi-cam, cháu Sa-phan, đặng đưa người về trong nhà. Người bèn ở giữa dân sự. 15Khi Giê-rê-mi còn bị giam trong hành lang lính canh, có lời Ðức Giê-hô-va phán cùng người như vầy: 16Ngươi khá đi và bảo Ê-bết-Mê-lết, người Ê-thi-ô-bi, rằng: Ðức Giê-hô-va vạn quân, Ðức Chúa Trời của Y-sơ-ra-ên, phán như vầy: Nầy, đến ngày đó ta sẽ làm ra trước mặt ngươi mọi lời mà ta đã phán nghịch cùng thành nầy, cho nó mang họa và chẳng được phước. 17Ðức Giê-hô-va phán: Nhưng trong ngày đó, ta sẽ giải cứu ngươi, thì ngươi sẽ không bị nộp trong tay những người mình sợ. 18Vì ta sẽ cứu ngươi chắc thật, ngươi sẽ không ngã dưới lưỡi gươm; ngươi sẽ lấy được sự sống mình như của cướp, vì đã để lòng trông cậy trong ta, Ðức Giê-hô-va phán vậy.
1When Jerusalem was taken, (in the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, came Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and all his army against Jerusalem, and besieged it; 2in the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, the ninth day of the month, a breach was made in the city), 3all the princes of the king of Babylon came in, and sat in the middle gate, Nergal Sharezer, Samgarnebo, Sarsechim, Rabsaris, Nergal Sharezer, Rabmag, with all the rest of the princes of the king of Babylon. 4When Zedekiah the king of Judah and all the men of war saw them, then they fled, and went out of the city by night, by the way of the king’s garden, through the gate between the two walls; and he went out toward the Arabah. 5But the army of the Chaldeans pursued after them, and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho: and when they had taken him, they brought him up to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of Hamath; and he gave judgment on him. 6Then the king of Babylon killed the sons of Zedekiah in Riblah before his eyes: also the king of Babylon killed all the nobles of Judah. 7Moreover he put out Zedekiah’s eyes, and bound him in fetters, to carry him to Babylon. 8The Chaldeans burned the king’s house, and the houses of the people, with fire, and broke down the walls of Jerusalem. 9Then Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive into Babylon the residue of the people who remained in the city, the deserters also who fell away to him, and the residue of the people who remained. 10But Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard left of the poor of the people, who had nothing, in the land of Judah, and gave them vineyards and fields at the same time. 11Now Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon commanded Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard concerning Jeremiah, saying, 12Take him, and look well to him, and do him no harm; but do to him even as he shall tell you. 13So Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard sent, and Nebushazban, Rabsaris, and Nergal Sharezer, Rabmag, and all the chief officers of the king of Babylon; 14they sent, and took Jeremiah out of the court of the guard, and committed him to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, that he should carry him home: so he lived among the people. 15Now Yahweh’s word came to Jeremiah, while he was shut up in the court of the guard, saying, 16Go, and speak to Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, saying, Thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel: Behold, I will bring my words on this city for evil, and not for good; and they shall be accomplished before you in that day. 17But I will deliver you in that day, says Yahweh; and you shall not be given into the hand of the men of whom you are afraid. 18For I will surely save you, and you shall not fall by the sword, but your life shall be for a prey to you; because you have put your trust in me, says Yahweh.
1In het negende jaar van Zedekia, koning van Juda, in de tiende maand, kwam Nebukadrezar, de koning van Babel, en al zijn heir, tegen Jeruzalem, en zij belegerden haar. 2In het elfde jaar van Zedekia, in de vierde maand, op den negenden der maand, werd de stad doorgebroken. 3En alle vorsten des konings van Babel togen henen in, en hielden bij de middelste poort; namelijk Nergal-Sarezer Samgar-Nebu, Sarsechim Rab-Saris, Nergal-Sarezer Rab-Mag, en al de overige vorsten des konings van Babel. 4En het geschiedde, als Zedekia, de koning van Juda, en al de krijgslieden hen zagen, zo vloden zij, en togen bij nacht uit de stad, door den weg van des konings hof, door de poort tussen de twee muren; en hij toog uit door den weg des vlakken velds. 5Doch het heir der Chaldeen jaagde hen achterna; en zij achterhaalden Zedekia in de vlakke velden van Jericho, en vingen hem, en brachten hem opwaarts tot Nebukadrezar, den koning van Babel, naar Ribla, in het land van Hamath; die sprak oordelen tegen hem uit. 6En de koning van Babel slachtte de zonen van Zedekia te Ribla voor zijn ogen; ook slachtte de koning van Babel alle edelen van Juda. 7En hij verblindde de ogen van Zedekia, en bond hem met twee koperen ketenen, om hem naar Babel te voeren. 8En de Chaldeen verbrandden het huis des konings en de huizen des volks met vuur; en zij braken de muren van Jeruzalem af. 9Het overige nu des volks, die in de stad waren overgebleven, en de afvalligen, die tot hem gevallen waren, met het overige des volks, die overgebleven waren, voerde Nebuzaradan, de overste der trawanten, gevankelijk naar Babel. 10Maar van het volk, die arm waren, die niet met al hadden, liet Nebuzaradan, de overste der trawanten, enigen overig in het land van Juda; en hij gaf hun te dien dage wijngaarden en akkers. 11Maar van Jeremia had Nebukadrezar, de koning van Babel, bevel gegeven in de hand van Nebuzaradan, den overste der trawanten, zeggende: 12Neem hem, en stel uw ogen op hem, en doe hem niets kwaads; maar gelijk als hij tot u spreken zal, doe alzo met hem. 13Zo zond Nebuzaradan, de overste der trawanten, mitsgaders Nebusazban Rab-Saris en Nergal-Sarezer Rab-Mag, en al de oversten des konings van Babel; 14Zij zonden dan henen en namen Jeremia uit het voorhof der bewaring, en gaven hem over aan Gedalia, den zoon van Ahikam, den zoon van Safan, dat hij hem henen uitbracht naar huis; alzo bleef hij in het midden des volks. 15Het woord des HEEREN was ook tot Jeremia geschied, als hij in het voorhof der bewaring besloten was, zeggende: 16Ge henen, en spreek tot Ebed-melech, den Moorman, zeggende: Zo zegt de HEERE der heirscharen, de God Israels: Zie, Ik zal Mijn woorden brengen over deze stad, ten kwade en niet ten goede; en zij zullen te dien dage voor uw aangezicht zijn. 17Maar Ik zal u te dien dage redden, spreekt de HEERE; en gij zult niet overgegeven worden in de hand der mannen, voor welker aangezicht gij vreest. 18Want Ik zal u zekerlijk bevrijden, en gij zult door het zwaard niet vallen; maar gij zult uw ziel tot een buit hebben, omdat gij op Mij vertrouwd hebt, spreekt de HEERE.
