1L’Eterno mi disse: "Prenditi una tavoletta grande e scrivici sopra in carattere leggibili: "Affrettate il saccheggio! Presto, al bottino!" 2E presi meco come testimoni, dei testimoni fededegni: il sacerdote Uria e Zaccaria, figliuolo di Jeberekia. 3M’accostai pure alla profetessa, ed ella concepì e partorì un figliuolo. Allora l’Eterno mi disse: "Chiamalo Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz; 4poiché prima che il bambino sappia gridare: Padre mio, Madre mia, le ricchezze di Damasco e il bottino di Samaria saran portati davanti al re d’Assiria". 5E l’Eterno mi parlò ancora e mi disse: 6poiché questo popolo ha sprezzato le acque di Siloe che corrono placidamente, e si rallegra a motivo di Retsin e del figliuolo di Remalia, 7perciò ecco, il Signore sta per far salire su loro le potenti e grandi acque del fiume, cioè il re d’Assiria e tutta la sua gloria; esso s’eleverà da per tutto sopra il suo livello, e strariperà su tutte le sponde. 8Passerà sopra Giuda, inonderà, e passerà oltre; arriverà fino al collo, e le sue ali spiegate copriranno tutta la larghezza del tuo paese, o Emmanuele! 9Mandate pur gridi di guerra, o popoli; sarete frantumati! Prestate orecchio, o voi tutti di paesi lontani! Preparatevi pure alla lotta; sarete frantumati! 10Fate pure de’ piani, e saranno sventati! Dite pur la parola, e rimarrà senza effetto, perché Dio è con noi. 11Poiché così m’ha parlato l’Eterno, quando la sua mano m’ha afferrato, ed egli m’ha avvertito di non camminare per la via di questo popolo, dicendo: 12"Non chiamate congiura tutto ciò che questo popolo chiama congiura; e non temete ciò ch’esso teme, e non vi spaventate. 13L’Eterno degli eserciti, quello, santificate! Sia lui quello che temete e paventate! 14Ed gli sarà un santuario, ma anche una pietra d’intoppo, un sasso d’inciampo per le due case d’Israele, un laccio e una rete per gli abitanti di Gerusalemme. 15Molti fra loro inciamperanno, cadranno, saranno infranti, rimarranno nel laccio, e saranno presi". 16"Chiudi questa testimonianza, suggella questa legge fra i miei discepoli". 17Io aspetto l’Eterno che nasconde la sua faccia alla casa di Giacobbe; in lui ripongo la mia speranza. 18Ecco me, e i figliuoli che l’Eterno m’ha dati; noi siam de’ segni e dei presagi in Israele da parte dell’Eterno degli Eserciti, che abita sul monte Sion. 19Se vi si dice: "Consultate quelli che evocano gli spiriti e gli indovini, quelli che susurranno e bisbigliano", rispondete: "Un popolo non dev’egli consultare il suo Dio? Si rivolgerà egli ai morti a pro de’ vivi?" 20Alla legge! alla testimonianza! Se il popolo non parla così, non vi sarà per lui alcuna aurora! 21Andrà errando per il paese, affranto, affamato; e quando avrà fame, s’irriterà, maledirà il suo re e il suo Dio. Volgerà lo sguardo in alto, 22lo volgerà verso la terra, ed ecco, non vedrà che distretta, tenebre, oscurità piena d’angoscia, e sarà sospinto in fitta tenebria.
1Yahweh said to me, “Take a large tablet, and write on it with a man’s pen, ‘For Maher Shalal Hash Baz’; 2and I will take for myself faithful witnesses to testify: Uriah the priest, and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah.” 3I went to the prophetess, and she conceived, and bore a son. Then Yahweh said to me, “Call his name ‘Maher Shalal Hash Baz.’ 4For before the child knows how to say, ‘My father,’ and, ‘My mother,’ the riches of Damascus and the plunder of Samaria will be carried away by the king of Assyria.” 5Yahweh spoke to me yet again, saying, 6“Because this people have refused the waters of Shiloah that go softly, and rejoice in Rezin and Remaliah’s son; 7now therefore, behold, the Lord brings upon them the mighty flood waters of the River: the king of Assyria and all his glory. It will come up over all its channels, and go over all its banks. 8It will sweep onward into Judah. It will overflow and pass through; it will reach even to the neck; and the stretching out of its wings will fill the breadth of your land, Immanuel. 9Make an uproar, you peoples, and be broken in pieces! Listen, all you from far countries: dress for battle, and be shattered! Dress for battle, and be shattered! 10Take counsel together, and it will be brought to nothing; speak the word, and it will not stand: for God is with us.” 11For Yahweh spoke thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me not to walk in the way of this people, saying, 12“Don’t say, ‘A conspiracy!’ concerning all about which this people say, ‘A conspiracy!’ neither fear their threats, nor be terrorized. 13Yahweh of Armies is who you must respect as holy. He is the one you must fear. He is the one you must dread. 14He will be a sanctuary, but for both houses of Israel, he will be a trap and a snare for the inhabitants of Jerusalem. 15Many will stumble over it, fall, be broken, be snared, and be captured.” 16Wrap up the testimony. Seal the law among my disciples. 17I will wait for Yahweh, who hides his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him. 18Behold, I and the children whom Yahweh has given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from Yahweh of Armies, who dwells in Mount Zion. 19When they tell you, “Consult with those who have familiar spirits and with the wizards, who chirp and who mutter:” shouldn’t a people consult with their God? Should they consult the dead on behalf of the living? 20Turn to the law and to the testimony! If they don’t speak according to this word, surely there is no morning for them. 21They will pass through it, very distressed and hungry; and it will happen that when they are hungry, they will worry, and curse by their king and by their God. They will turn their faces upward, 22and look to the earth, and see distress, darkness, and the gloom of anguish. They will be driven into thick darkness.
1Verder zeide de HEERE tot mij: Neem u een grote rol, en schrijf daarop met eens mensen griffel: Haastende tot den roof, is hij spoedig tot den buit! 2Toen nam ik mij getrouwe getuigen, Uria, den priester, en Zacharia, den zoon van Jeberechja. 3En ik was tot de profetesse genaderd, die werd zwanger, en baarde een zoon; en de HEERE zeide tot mij: Noem zijn naam MAHER-SCHALAL, CHAZ-BAZ. 4Want eer dat knechtje zal kunnen roepen: Mijn vader! of, mijn moeder! zal men den rijkdom van Damaskus, en den buit van Samaria dragen voor het aangezicht van den koning van Assur. 5En de HEERE sprak nog verder tot mij, zeggende: 6Dewijl dit volk veracht de wateren van Siloa, die zachtjes gaan, en er vreugde is bij Rezin en den zoon van Remalia; 7Daarom ziet, zo zal de Heere over hen doen opkomen die sterke en geweldige wateren der rivier, den koning van Assyrie en al zijn heerlijkheid; en hij zal opkomen over al zijn stromen, en gaan over al zijn oevers; 8En hij zal doortrekken in Juda, hij zal het overstromen, en er doorgaan, hij zal tot aan den hals reiken; en de uitstrekkingen zijner vleugelen zullen vervullen de breedte uws lands, o Immanuel! 9Vergezelt u te zamen, gij volken! doch wordt verbroken; en neemt ter ore, allen gij, die in verre landen zijt, omgordt u, doch wordt verbroken; omgordt u, doch wordt verbroken! 10Beraadslaagt een raad, doch hij zal vernietigd worden; spreekt een woord, doch het zal niet bestaan; want God is met ons! 11Want alzo heeft de HEERE tot mij gezegd, met een sterke hand, en Hij onderwees mij van niet te wandelen op den weg dezes volks, zeggende: 12Gijlieden zult niet zeggen: Een verbintenis, van alles, waar dit volk van zegt: Het is een verbintenis; en vreest gijlieden hun vreze niet, en verschrikt niet. 13Den HEERE der heirscharen, Dien zult gijlieden heiligen, en Hij zij uw vreze, en Hij zij uw verschrikking. 14Dan zal Hij ulieden tot een Heiligdom zijn; maar tot een steen des aanstoots en tot een rotssteen der struikeling den twee huizen van Israel, tot een strik en tot een net den inwoners te Jeruzalem. 15En velen onder hen zullen struikelen, en vallen, en verbroken worden, en zullen verstrikt en gevangen worden. 16Bind de getuigenis toe; verzegel de wet onder mijn leerlingen. 17Daarom zal ik den Heere verbeiden, Die Zijn aangezicht verbergt voor het huis van Jakob, en ik zal Hem verwachten. 18Ziet, ik en de kinderen, die mij de HEERE gegeven heeft, zijn tot tekenen en tot wonderen in Israel, van den HEERE der heirscharen, Die op den berg Sion woont. 19Wanneer zij dan tot ulieden zeggen zullen: Vraagt waarzeggers en duivelskunstenaars, die daar piepen, en binnensmonds mompelen; zo zegt: Zal niet een volk zijn God vragen? zal men voor de levenden de doden vragen? 20Tot de wet en tot de getuigenis! zo zij niet spreken naar dit woord, het zal zijn, dat zij geen dageraad zullen hebben. 21En een ieder van hen zal daar doorgaan, hard gedrukt en hongerig; en het zal geschieden, wanneer hem hongert, en hij zeer toornig zal zijn, dan zal hij vloeken op zijn koning en op zijn God, als hij opwaarts zal zien; 22Als hij de aarde aanschouwen zal, ziet, er zal benauwdheid en duisternis zijn; hij zal verduisterd zijn door angst, en voortgedreven door donkerheid.
