1Così parla l’Eterno: Dov’è la lettera di divorzio di vostra madre per la quale io l’ho ripudiata? O qual è quello de’ miei creditori al quale io vi ho venduto? Ecco, per le vostre iniquità siete stati venduti, e per le vostre trasgressioni vostra madre è stata ripudiata. 2Perché, quand’io son venuto, non s’è trovato alcuno? Perché, quand’ho chiamato, nessuno ha risposto? La mia mano è ella davvero troppo corta per redimere? o no ho io forza da liberare? Ecco, con la mia minaccia io prosciugo il mare, riduco i fiumi in deserto; il loro pesce diventa fetido per mancanza d’acqua, e muore di sete. 3Io rivesto i cieli di nero, e do loro un cilicio per coperta. 4Il Signore, l’Eterno, m’ha dato una lingua esercitata perch’io sappia sostenere con la parola lo stanco; egli risveglia, ogni mattina risveglia il mio orecchio, perch’io ascolti, come fanno i discepoli. 5Il Signore, l’Eterno, m’ha aperto l’orecchio, ed io non sono stato ribelle e non mi son tratto indietro. 6Io ho presentato il mio dorso a chi mi percoteva, e le me guance, a chi mi strappava la barba; io non ho nascosto il mio volto all’onta e agli sputi. 7Ma il Signore, l’Eterno, m’ha soccorso; perciò non sono stato confuso; perciò ho reso la mia faccia simile ad un macigno, e so che non sarò svergognato. 8Vicino è colui che mi giustifica; chi contenderà meco? compariamo assieme! Chi è il mio avversario? Mi venga vicino! 9Ecco, il Signore, l’Eterno, mi verrà in aiuto; chi è colui che mi condannerà? Ecco, tutti costoro diventeranno logori come un vestito, la tignola li roderà. 10Chi è tra voi che tema l’Eterno, che ascolti la voce del servo di lui? Benché cammini nelle tenebre, privo di luce, confidi nel nome dell’Eterno, e s’appoggi sul suo Dio! 11Ecco, voi tutti che accendete un fuoco, che vi cingete di tizzoni, andatevene nelle fiamme del vostro fuoco, e fra i tizzoni che avete accesso! Questo avrete dalla mia mano; voi giacerete nel dolore.
1Thus says Yahweh, “Where is the bill of your mother’s divorce, with which I have put her away? or which of my creditors is it to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities were you sold, and for your transgressions was your mother put away. 2Why, when I came, was there no man? when I called, was there no one to answer? Is my hand shortened at all, that it can’t redeem? or have I no power to deliver? Behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: their fish stink, because there is no water, and die for thirst. 3I clothe the heavens with blackness, and I make sackcloth their covering.” 4The Lord Yahweh has given me the tongue of those who are taught, that I may know how to sustain with words him who is weary: he wakens morning by morning, he wakens my ear to hear as those who are taught. 5The Lord Yahweh has opened my ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away backward. 6I gave my back to the strikers, and my cheeks to those who plucked off the hair; I didn’t hide my face from shame and spitting. 7For the Lord Yahweh will help me; therefore I have not been confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be disappointed. 8He is near who justifies me; who will bring charges against me? Let us stand up together: who is my adversary? Let him come near to me. 9Behold, the Lord Yahweh will help me; who is he who shall condemn me? Behold, all they shall wax old as a garment, the moth shall eat them up. 10Who is among you who fears Yahweh, who obeys the voice of his servant? He who walks in darkness, and has no light, let him trust in Yahweh’s name, and rely on his God. 11Behold, all you who kindle a fire, who adorn yourselves with torches around yourselves; walk in the flame of your fire, and among the brands that you have kindled. You shall have this of my hand; you shall lie down in sorrow.
1Alzo zegt de HEERE: Waar is de scheidbrief van ulieder moeder, waarmede Ik haar weggezonden heb? Of wie is er van Mijn schuldeisers, aan wien Ik u verkocht heb? Ziet, om uw ongerechtigheden zijt gij verkocht, en om uw overtredingen is uw moeder weggezonden. 2Waarom kwam Ik, en er was niemand, waarom riep Ik, en niemand antwoordde? Is Mijn hand dus gans kort geworden, dat zij niet verlossen kan, of is er in Mij geen kracht om uit te redden? Ziet, door Mijn schelding maak Ik de zee droog, Ik stel de rivieren tot een woestijn, dat haar vis stinkt, omdat er geen water is, en sterft van dorst. 3Ik bekleed den hemel met zwartheid, en stel een zak tot zijn deksel. 4De Heere HEERE heeft Mij een tong der geleerden gegeven, opdat Ik wete met den moede een woord ter rechter tijd te spreken; Hij wekt allen morgen, Hij wekt Mij het oor, dat Ik hore, gelijk die geleerd worden. 5De Heere HEERE heeft Mij het oor geopend, en Ik ben niet wederspannig, Ik wijk niet achterwaarts. 6Ik geef Mijn rug dengenen, die Mij slaan, en Mijn wangen dengenen, die Mij het haar uitplukken; Mijn aangezicht verberg Ik niet voor smaadheden en speeksel. 7Want de Heere HEERE helpt Mij, daarom word Ik niet te schande; daarom heb Ik Mijn aangezicht gesteld als een keisteen, want Ik weet, dat Ik niet zal beschaamd worden. 8Hij is nabij, Die Mij rechtvaardigt, wie zal met Mij twisten? Laat ons te zamen staan; wie heeft een rechtzaak tegen Mij? hij kome herwaarts tot Mij. 9Ziet, de Heere HEERE helpt Mij, wie is het, die Mij zal verdoemen? Ziet, zij zullen altemaal als een kleed verouden, die mot zal hen eten. 10Wie is er onder ulieden, die den HEERE vreest, die naar de stem Zijns Knechts hoort? Als hij in de duisternissen wandelt, en geen licht heeft, dat hij betrouwe op den Naam des HEEREN, en steune op zijn God. 11Ziet, gij allen, die een vuur aansteekt, die u met spranken omgordt! wandelt in de vlam van uw vuur, en in de spranken, die gij ontstoken hebt. Dat geschiedt u van Mijn hand, in smart zult gijlieden liggen.
