1Ecco, un re regnerà secondo giustizia, e i principi governeranno con equità. 2Ognun d’essi sarà come un riparo dal vento, come un rifugio contro l’uragano, come de’ corsi d’acqua in luogo arido, come l’ombra d’una gran roccia in una terra che langue. 3Gli occhi di quei che veggono non saranno più accecati, e gli orecchi di quei che odono staranno attenti. 4Il cuore degli inconsiderati capirà la saviezza, e la lingua dei balbuzienti parlerà spedita e distinta. 5Lo scellerato non sarà più chiamato nobile, e l’impostore non sarà più chiamato magnanimo. 6Poiché lo scellerato proferisce scelleratezze e il suo cuore si dà all’iniquità per commettere cose empie e dir cose malvage contro l’Eterno; per lasciar vuota l’anima di chi ha fame, e far mancar la bevanda a chi ha sete. 7Le armi dell’impostore sono malvage; ei forma criminosi disegni per distruggere il misero con parole bugiarde, e il bisognoso quando afferma il giusto. 8Ma l’uomo nobile forma nobile disegni, e sorge a pro di nobile cose. 9O donne spensierate, levatevi, e ascoltate la mia voce! O figlie troppo fiduciose, porgete orecchio alla mia parola! 10Fra una anno e qualche giorno, voi tremerete, o donne troppo fiduciose, poiché la vendemmia è ita, e non si farà raccolta. 11Abbiate spavento, o donne spensierate! tremate, o troppo fiduciose! Spogliatevi, nudatevi, cingetevi di cilicio i fianchi, 12picchiandovi il seno a motivo dei campi già così belli, e delle vigne già così feconde. 13Sulla terra del mio popolo, cresceranno pruni e rovi; sì, su tutte le case di piacere della città gioconda. 14Poiché il palazzo sarà abbandonato, la città rumorosa sarà resa deserta, la collina e la torre saran per sempre ridotte in caverne, in luogo di spasso per gli onàgri e di pascolo pe’ greggi, 15finché su noi sia sparso lo spirito dall’alto e il deserto divenga un frutteto, e il frutteto sia considerato come una foresta. 16Allora l’equità abiterà nel deserto, e la giustizia avrà la sua dimora nel frutteto. 17Il frutto della giustizia sarà la pace, e l’effetto della giustizia, tranquillità e sicurezza per sempre. 18Il mio popolo abiterà in un soggiorno di pace, in dimore sicure, in quieti luoghi di riposo. 19Ma la foresta cadrà sotto la grandine, e la città sarà profondamente abbassata. 20Beati voi che seminate in riva a tutte le acque, e che lasciate andar libero il piè del bove e dell’asino!
1Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall rule in justice. 2A man shall be as a hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the storm, as streams of water in a dry place, as the shade of a large rock in a weary land. 3The eyes of those who see will not be dim, and the ears of those who hear will listen. 4The heart of the rash will understand knowledge, and the tongue of the stammerers will be ready to speak plainly. 5The fool will no longer be called noble, nor the scoundrel be highly respected. 6For the fool will speak folly, and his heart will work iniquity, to practice profanity, and to utter error against Yahweh, To make empty the soul of the hungry, and to cause the drink of the thirsty to fail. 7The ways of the scoundrel are evil. He devises wicked devices to destroy the humble with lying words, even when the needy speaks right. 8But the noble devises noble things; and he will continue in noble things. 9Rise up, you women who are at ease! Hear my voice! You careless daughters, give ear to my speech! 10For days beyond a year you will be troubled, you careless women; for the vintage shall fail. The harvest won’t come. 11Tremble, you women who are at ease! Be troubled, you careless ones! Strip yourselves, make yourselves naked, and put sackcloth on your waist. 12Beat your breasts for the pleasant fields, for the fruitful vine. 13Thorns and briers will come up on my people’s land; yes, on all the houses of joy in the joyous city. 14For the palace will be forsaken. The populous city will be deserted. The hill and the watchtower will be for dens forever, a delight for wild donkeys, a pasture of flocks; 15Until the Spirit is poured on us from on high, and the wilderness becomes a fruitful field, and the fruitful field is considered a forest. 16Then justice will dwell in the wilderness; and righteousness will remain in the fruitful field. 17The work of righteousness will be peace; and the effect of righteousness, quietness and confidence forever. 18My people will live in a peaceful habitation, in safe dwellings, and in quiet resting places. 19Though hail flattens the forest, and the city is leveled completely. 20Blessed are you who sow beside all waters, who send out the feet of the ox and the donkey.
1Ziet, een koning zal regeren in gerechtigheid, en de vorsten zullen heersen naar recht. 2En die man zal zijn als een verberging tegen den wind, en een schuilplaats tegen den vloed, als waterbeken in een dorre plaats, als de schaduw van een zwaren rotssteen in een dorstig land. 3En de ogen dergenen, die zien, zullen niet terugzien, en de oren dergenen, die horen, zullen opmerken. 4En het hart der onbedachtzamen zal de wetenschap verstaan, en de tong der stamelenden zal vaardig zijn, om bescheidenlijk te spreken. 5De dwaas zal niet meer genoemd worden milddadig, en de gierige zal niet meer mild geheten worden. 6Want een dwaas spreekt dwaasheid, en zijn hart doet ongerechtigheid, om huichelarij te plegen, en om dwaling te spreken tegen den HEERE, om de ziel des hongerigen ledig te laten, en den dorstige drank te doen ontbreken. 7En eens gierigaards ganse gereedschap is kwaad; hij beraadslaagt schandelijke verdichtselen, om de ellendigen te bederven met valse redenen, en het recht, als de arme spreekt. 8Maar een milddadige beraadslaagt milddadigheden, en staat op milddadigheden. 9Staat op, gij geruste vrouwen, hoort mijn stem; gij dochters, die zo zeker zijt, neemt mijn redenen ter ore. 10Vele dagen over het jaar zult gij beroerd zijn, gij dochters, die zo zeker zijt, want de wijnoogst zal uit zijn, er zal geen inzameling komen. 11Beeft, gij geruste vrouwen; weest beroerd, dochters, die zo zeker zijt; trekt u uit, en ontbloot u, en gordt zakken om uw lendenen. 12Men zal rouwklagen over de borsten, over de gewenste akkers, over de vruchtbare wijnstokken. 13Op het land mijns volks zal de doorn en de distel opgaan; ja, op alle vreugdehuizen, in de vrolijk huppelende stad. 14Want het paleis zal verlaten zijn, het gewoel der stad zal ophouden; Ofel en de wachttorens zullen tot spelonken zijn, tot in der eeuwigheid, een vreugde der woudezelen, een weide der kudden. 15Totdat over ons uitgegoten worde de Geest uit de hoogte; dan zal de woestijn tot een vruchtbaar veld worden, en het vruchtbare veld zal voor een woud geacht worden. 16En het recht zal in de woestijn wonen, en de gerechtigheid zal op het vruchtbare veld verblijven. 17En het werk der gerechtigheid zal vrede zijn; en de werking der gerechtigheid zal zijn gerustheid en zekerheid tot in eeuwigheid. 18En mijn volk zal in een woonplaats des vredes wonen, en in welverzekerde woningen, en in stille geruste plaatsen. 19Maar het zal hagelen, waar men afgaat in het woud, en de stad zal laag worden in de laagte. 20Welgelukzalig zijt gijlieden, die aan alle wateren zaait; gij, die den voet des osses en des ezels derwaarts henenzendt!
