1Nel principio del regno di Joiakim, figliuolo di Giosia, re di Giuda, questa parola fu rivolta dall’Eterno a Geremia in questi termini: 2"Così m’ha detto l’Eterno: Fatti de’ legami e dei gioghi, e mettiteli sul collo; 3poi mandali al re di Edom, al re di Moab, al re de’ figliuoli di Ammon, al re di Tiro e al re di Sidone, mediante gli ambasciatori che son venuti a Gerusalemme da Sedekia, re di Giuda; 4e ordina loro che dicano ai loro signori: Così parla l’Eterno degli eserciti, l’Iddio d’Israele: Direte questo ai vostri signori: 5Io ho fatto la terra, gli uomini e gli animali che sono sulla faccia della terra, con la mia gran potenza e col mio braccio steso; e do la terra a chi mi par bene. 6E ora do tutti questi paesi in mano di Nebucadnetsar, re di Babilonia, mio servitore; e gli do pure gli animali della campagna perché gli siano soggetti. 7E tutte le nazioni saranno soggette a lui, al suo figliuolo e al figliuolo del suo figliuolo, finché giunga il tempo anche pel suo paese; e allora molte nazioni e grandi re lo ridurranno in servitù. 8E avverrà che la nazione o il regno che non vorrà sottomettersi a lui, a Nebucadnetsar re di Babilonia, e non vorrà piegare il collo sotto il giogo del re di Babilonia, quella nazione io la punirò, dice l’Eterno, con la spada, con la fame, con la peste, finché io non l’abbia sterminata per mano di lui. 9Voi dunque non ascoltate i vostri profeti, né i vostri indovini, né i vostri sognatori, né i vostri pronosticatori, né vostri maghi che vi dicono: Non sarete asserviti al re di Babilonia! 10Poiché essi vi profetizzano menzogna, per allontanarvi dal vostro paese perché io vi scacci e voi periate. 11Ma la nazione che piegherà il suo collo sotto il giogo del re di Babilonia e gli sarà soggetta, io la lascerò stare nel suo paese, dice l’Eterno; ed essa lo coltiverà e vi dimorerà". 12Io parlai dunque a Sedekia, re di Giuda, in conformità di tutte queste parole, e dissi: "Piegate il collo sotto il giogo del re di Babilonia, sottomettetevi a lui e al suo popolo, e vivrete. 13Perché morreste, tu e il tuo popolo, per la spada, per la fame e per la peste, come l’Eterno ha detto della nazione che non si assoggetterà al re di Babilonia? 14E non date ascolto alle parole de’ profeti che vi dicono: Non sarete asserviti al re di Babilonia! perché vi profetizzano menzogna. 15Poiché io non li ho mandati, dice l’Eterno; ma profetizzano falsamente nel mio nome, perché io vi scacci, e voi periate: voi e i profeti che vi profetizzano". 16Parlai pure ai sacerdoti e a tutto questo popolo, e dissi: "Così parla l’Eterno: Non date ascolto alle parole dei vostro profeti i quali vi profetizzano, dicendo: Ecco, gli arredi della casa dell’Eterno saranno in breve riportati da Babilonia, perché vi profetizzano menzogna. 17Non date loro ascolto; sottomettetevi al re di Babilonia, e vivrete. Perché questa città sarebb’ella ridotta una desolazione? 18Se sono profeti, e se la parola dell’Eterno è con loro, intercedano ora presso l’Eterno degli eserciti perché gli arredi che son rimasti nella casa dell’Eterno, nella casa del re di Giuda e in Gerusalemme non vadano a Babilonia. 19Perché così parla l’Eterno degli eserciti riguardo alle colonne, al mare, alle basi e al resto degli arredi rimasti in questa città, 20e che non furon presi da Nebucadnetsar, re di Babilonia quando menò in cattività da Gerusalemme in Babilonia, Jeconia, figliuolo di Joiakim, re di Giuda, e tutti i nobili di Giuda e di Gerusalemme; 21così, dico, parla l’Eterno degli eserciti, l’Iddio d’Israele, riguardo agli arredi che rimangono nella casa dell’Eterno, nella casa del re di Giuda e in Gerusalemme: 22saranno portati a Babilonia, e quivi resteranno, finché io li cercherò, dice l’Eterno, e li farò risalire e ritornare in questo luogo".
1In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, came this word to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying, 2Thus says Yahweh to me: Make bonds and bars, and put them on your neck; 3and send them to the king of Edom, and to the king of Moab, and to the king of the children of Ammon, and to the king of Tyre, and to the king of Sidon, by the hand of the messengers who come to Jerusalem to Zedekiah king of Judah; 4and give them a command to their masters, saying, Thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, You shall tell your masters: 5I have made the earth, the men and the animals that are on the surface of the earth, by my great power and by my outstretched arm; and I give it to whom it seems right to me. 6Now have I given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant; and the animals of the field also have I given him to serve him. 7All the nations shall serve him, and his son, and his son’s son, until the time of his own land come: and then many nations and great kings shall make him their bondservant. 8It shall happen, that the nation and the kingdom which will not serve the same Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and that will not put their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, that nation will I punish, says Yahweh, with the sword, and with the famine, and with the pestilence, until I have consumed them by his hand. 9But as for you, don’t you listen to your prophets, nor to your diviners, nor to your dreams, nor to your soothsayers, nor to your sorcerers, who speak to you, saying, You shall not serve the king of Babylon: 10for they prophesy a lie to you, to remove you far from your land, and that I should drive you out, and you should perish. 11But the nation that shall bring their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him, that nation will I let remain in their own land, says Yahweh; and they shall till it, and dwell therein. 12I spoke to Zedekiah king of Judah according to all these words, saying, Bring your necks under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him and his people, and live. 13Why will you die, you and your people, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence, as Yahweh has spoken concerning the nation that will not serve the king of Babylon? 14Don’t listen to the words of the prophets who speak to you, saying, You shall not serve the king of Babylon; for they prophesy a lie to you. 15For I have not sent them, says Yahweh, but they prophesy falsely in my name; that I may drive you out, and that you may perish, you, and the prophets who prophesy to you. 16Also I spoke to the priests and to all this people, saying, Thus says Yahweh: Don’t listen to the words of your prophets who prophesy to you, saying, Behold, the vessels of Yahweh’s house shall now shortly be brought again from Babylon; for they prophesy a lie to you. 17Don’t listen to them; serve the king of Babylon, and live: why should this city become a desolation? 18But if they be prophets, and if Yahweh’s word be with them, let them now make intercession to Yahweh of Armies, that the vessels which are left in Yahweh’s house, and in the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem, don’t go to Babylon. 19For thus says Yahweh of Armies concerning the pillars, and concerning the sea, and concerning the bases, and concerning the residue of the vessels that are left in this city, 20which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon didn’t take, when he carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, from Jerusalem to Babylon, and all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem; 21yes, thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, concerning the vessels that are left in Yahweh’s house, and in the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem: 22They shall be carried to Babylon, and there shall they be, until the day that I visit them, says Yahweh; then I will bring them up, and restore them to this place.
1In het begin des koninkrijks van Jojakim, zoon van Josia, koning van Juda, geschiedde dit woord tot Jeremia, van den HEERE, zeggende: 2Alzo zeide de HEERE tot mij: Maak u banden en jukken, en doe die aan uw hals; 3En zend ze tot den koning van Edom, en tot den koning van Moab, en tot den koning der kinderen Ammons, en tot den koning van Tyrus, en tot den koning van Sidon; door de hand der boden, die te Jeruzalem tot Zedekia, den koning van Juda, komen. 4En beveel hun aan hun heren te zeggen: Zo zegt de HEERE der heirscharen, de God Israels: Zo zult gij tot uw heren zeggen: 5Ik heb gemaakt de aarde, den mens en het vee, die op den aardbodem zijn, door Mijn grote kracht, en door Mijn uitgestrekten arm, en Ik geef ze aan welken het recht is in Mijn ogen. 6En nu, Ik heb al deze landen gegeven in de hand van Nebukadnezar, den koning van Babel, Mijn knecht; zelfs ook het gedierte des velds heb Ik hem gegeven, om hem te dienen. 7En alle volken zullen hem, en zijn zoon, en zijns zoons zoon dienen, totdat ook de tijd zijns eigenen lands kome; dan zullen zich machtige volken en grote koningen van hem doen dienen. 8En het zal geschieden, het volk en het koninkrijk, dat hem, Nebukadnezar, den koning van Babel, niet zal dienen, en dat zijn hals niet zal geven onder het juk des konings van Babel; over datzelve volk zal Ik, spreekt de HEERE, bezoeking doen door het zwaard, en door den honger, en door de pestilentie, totdat Ik ze zal verteerd hebben door zijn hand. 9Gijlieden dan, hoort niet naar uw profeten, en naar uw waarzeggers, en naar uw dromers, en naar uw guichelaars, en naar uw tovenaars, dewelke tot u spreken, zeggende: Gij zult den koning van Babel niet dienen. 10Want zij profeteren u valsheid, om u verre uit uw land te brengen, en dat Ik u uitstote, en gij omkomt. 11Maar het volk, dat zijn hals zal brengen onder het juk des konings van Babel, en hem dienen, datzelve zal Ik in zijn land laten, spreekt de HEERE, en het zal dat bouwen en daarin wonen. 12Daarna sprak ik tot Zedekia, den koning van Juda, naar al deze woorden, zeggende: Brengt uw halzen onder het juk des konings van Babel, en dient hem en zijn volk, zo zult gij leven. 13Waarom zoudt gij sterven, gij en uw volk door het zwaard, door den honger en door de pestilentie, gelijk als de HEERE gesproken heeft van het volk, dat den koning van Babel niet zal dienen. 14Hoort dan niet naar de woorden der profeten, die tot u spreken, zeggende: Gij zult den koning van Babel niet dienen; want zij profeteren u valsheid. 15Want Ik heb ze niet gezonden, spreekt de HEERE, en zij profeteren valselijk in Mijn Naam; opdat Ik u uitstote, en gij omkomt, gij en de profeten, die u profeteren. 16Ook sprak ik tot de priesteren, en tot dit ganse volk, zeggende: Zo zegt de HEERE: Hoort niet naar de woorden uwer profeten, die u profeteren, zeggende: Ziet, de vaten van des HEEREN huis zullen nu haast uit Babel wedergebracht worden; want zij profeteren u valsheid. 17Hoort niet naar hen, maar dient den koning van Babel, zo zult gijlieden leven; waarom zou deze stad tot een woestheid worden? 18Maar zo zij profeten zijn, en zo des HEEREN woord bij hen is, laat hen nu bij den HEERE der heirscharen voorbidden, opdat de vaten, die in het huis des HEEREN, en in het huis des konings van Juda, en te Jeruzalem zijn overgebleven, niet naar Babel komen. 19Want zo zegt de HEERE der heirscharen, van de pilaren, en van de zee, en van de stellingen, en van het overige der vaten, die in deze stad zijn overgebleven, 20Die Nebukadnezar, de koning van Babel, niet heeft weggenomen, als hij Jechonia, den zoon van Jojakim, koning van Juda, van Jeruzalem, naar Babel gevankelijk wegvoerde, mitsgaders al de edelen van Juda en Jeruzalem; 21Ja, zo zegt de HEERE der heirscharen, de God Israels, van de vaten, die in het huis des HEEREN, en in het huis des konings van Juda, en te Jeruzalem zijn overgebleven: 22Naar Babel zullen zij gebracht worden, en aldaar zullen zij zijn, tot den dag toe, dat Ik ze bezoeken zal, spreekt de HEERE; dan zal Ik ze opvoeren, en zal ze wederbrengen tot deze plaats.
