Εάν δεν πιστεύητε, δεν θέλετε βεβαίως στερεωθή. 10Και ελάλησεν έτι ο Κύριος προς τον Άχαζ, λέγων, 11Ζήτησον σημείον παρά Κυρίου του Θεού σου ζήτησον αυτό ή εις το βάθος ή εις το ύψος άνω. 12Αλλ' ο Άχαζ είπε, δεν θέλω ζητήσει ουδέ θέλω πειράσει τον Κύριον. 13Και είπεν ο Ησαΐας, Ακούσατε τώρα, οίκος Δαβίδ μικρόν πράγμα είναι διά σας να βαρύνητε ανθρώπους, και θέλετε βαρύνει έτι και τον Θεόν μου; 14Διά τούτο ο Κύριος αυτός θέλει σας δώσει σημείον ιδού, η παρθένος θέλει συλλάβει και γεννήσει υιόν, και θέλει καλεσθή το όνομα αυτού Εμμανουήλ. 15Βούτυρον και μέλι θέλει φάγει, εωσού μάθη να απορρίπτη το κακόν και να εκλέγη το αγαθόν. 16Διότι πριν μάθη το παιδίον να απορρίπτη το κακόν και να εκλέγη το αγαθόν, η γη, την οποίαν αποστρέφεσαι, θέλει εγκαταλειφθή υπό των δύο βασιλέων αυτής. 17Ο Κύριος θέλει φέρει επί σε, και επί τον λαόν σου, και επί τον οίκον του πατρός σου, ημέρας, αίτινες δεν ήλθον αφ' ης ημέρας εχωρίσθη από του Ιούδα ο Εφραΐμ, διά του βασιλέως της Ασσυρίας. 18Και εν εκείνη τη ημέρα θέλει συρίξει ο Κύριος εις τας μυίας τας εν τοις εσχάτοις των ποταμών της Αιγύπτου, και εις τας μελίσσας τας εν τη γη της Ασσυρίας 19και θέλουσιν ελθεί και αναπαυθή πάσαι επί τας ηρημωμένας κοιλάδας και εν ταις τρύπαις των βράχων και επί πάσαν βάτον και επί παν ώραίον δένδρον. 20Εν τη αυτή ημέρα ο Κύριος θέλει ξυρίσει, με το ξυράφιον το μεμισθωμένον από του πέραν του ποταμού, μετά του βασιλέως της Ασσυρίας, την κεφαλήν και τας τρίχας των ποδών και τον πώγωνα έτι θέλει αφαιρέσει. 21Και εν εκείνη τη ημέρα άνθρωπος τρέφων μίαν δάμαλιν και δύο πρόβατα, 22από της αφθονίας του γάλακτος, το οποίον θέλουσι δίδει, βούτυρον θέλει τρώγει διότι βούτυρον και μέλι θέλει τρώγει έκαστος, όστις υπελείφθη εν τω μέσω της γης. 23Και εν εκείνη τη ημέρα πας τόπος, εν ω ήσαν χίλιαι άμπελοι χιλίων αργυρίων, θέλει είσθαι διά τριβόλους και ακάνθας. 24Με βέλη και με τόξα θέλουσιν ελθεί εκεί· διότι πάσα η γη θέλει κατασταθή τρίβολοι και άκανθαι. 25Και παν όρος γεγεωργημένον με δίκελλαν, όπου δεν ήλθε φόβος τριβόλων και ακανθών, θέλει είσθαι διά να εξαποστέλλωνται εκεί βόες και διά να καταπατήται υπό προβάτων.
1In the days of Ahaz the son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, Rezin the king of Syria, and Pekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, went up to Jerusalem to war against it, but could not prevail against it. 2It was told the house of David, saying, “Syria is allied with Ephraim.” His heart trembled, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the forest tremble with the wind. 3Then Yahweh said to Isaiah, “Go out now to meet Ahaz, you, and Shearjashub your son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool, on the highway of the fuller’s field. 4Tell him, ‘Be careful, and keep calm. Don’t be afraid, neither let your heart be faint because of these two tails of smoking torches, for the fierce anger of Rezin and Syria, and of the son of Remaliah. 5Because Syria, Ephraim, and the son of Remaliah, have plotted evil against you, saying, 6“Let’s go up against Judah, and tear it apart, and let’s divide it among ourselves, and set up a king in its midst, even the son of Tabeel.” 7This is what the Lord Yahweh says: “It shall not stand, neither shall it happen.” 8For the head of Syria is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin; and within sixty-five years Ephraim shall be broken in pieces, so that it shall not be a people; 9and the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is Remaliah’s son. If you will not believe, surely you shall not be established.’” 10Yahweh spoke again to Ahaz, saying, 11“Ask a sign of Yahweh your God; ask it either in the depth, or in the height above.” 12But Ahaz said, “I will not ask, neither will I tempt Yahweh.” 13He said, “Listen now, house of David. Is it not enough for you to try the patience of men, that you will try the patience of my God also? 14Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin will conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. 15He shall eat butter and honey when he knows to refuse the evil, and choose the good. 16For before the child knows to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land whose two kings you abhor shall be forsaken. 17Yahweh will bring on you, on your people, and on your father’s house, days that have not come, from the day that Ephraim departed from Judah; even the king of Assyria. 18It will happen in that day that Yahweh will whistle for the fly that is in the uttermost part of the rivers of Egypt, and for the bee that is in the land of Assyria. 19They shall come, and shall all rest in the desolate valleys, in the clefts of the rocks, on all thorn hedges, and on all pastures. 20In that day the Lord will shave with a razor that is hired in the parts beyond the River, even with the king of Assyria, the head and the hair of the feet; and it shall also consume the beard. 21It shall happen in that day that a man shall keep alive a young cow, and two sheep; 22and it shall happen, that because of the abundance of milk which they shall give he shall eat butter: for everyone will eat butter and honey that is left in the midst of the land. 23It will happen in that day that every place where there were a thousand vines at a thousand silver shekels, shall be for briers and thorns. 24People will go there with arrows and with bow, because all the land will be briers and thorns. 25All the hills that were cultivated with the hoe, you shall not come there for fear of briers and thorns; but it shall be for the sending out of oxen, and for the treading of sheep.”

Indien gijlieden niet gelooft, zekerlijk, gij zult niet bevestigd worden. 10En de HEERE voer voort te spreken tot Achaz, zeggende: 11Eis u een teken van den HEERE, uw God; eis beneden in de diepte, of eis boven uit de hoogte. 12Doch Achaz zeide: Ik zal het niet eisen, en ik zal den HEERE niet verzoeken. 13Toen zeide hij: Hoort gijlieden nu, gij, huis van David! is het ulieden te weinig, dat gij de mensen moede maakt, dat gij ook mijn God moede maakt? 14Daarom zal de Heere Zelf ulieden een teken geven; ziet, een maagd zal zwanger worden, en zij zal een Zoon baren, en Zijn naam IMMANUEL heten. 15Boter en honig zal Hij eten, totdat Hij wete te verwerpen het kwade, en te verkiezen het goede. 16Zekerlijk, eer dit Knechtje weet te verwerpen het kwade, en te verkiezen het goede, zal dat land, waarover gij verdrietig zijt, verlaten zijn van zijn twee koningen. 17Doch de HEERE zal over u, en over uw volk, en over uws vaders huis, dagen doen komen, hoedanige niet gekomen zijn van dien dag af, dat Efraim van Juda is afgeweken, door den koning van Assyrie. 18Want het zal te dien dage geschieden, dat de HEERE zal toesissen de vliegen, die aan het einde der rivieren van Egypte zijn, en de bijen die in het land van Assur zijn. 19En zij zullen komen, en zij allen zullen rusten in de woeste dalen, en in de kloven der steenrotsen, en in al de doornhagen, en in alle geprezene plaatsen. 20Te dien dage zal de Heere door een gehuurd scheermes, hetwelk aan gene zijde der rivier is, door den koning van Assyrie, afscheren het hoofd, en het haar der voeten; ja, het zal ook den baard gans wegnemen. 21En het zal geschieden te dien dage, dat iemand een koetje in het leven zal behouden hebben, en twee schapen; 22En het zal geschieden, dat hij vanwege de veelheid der melk, die zij geven zullen, boter zal eten; ja, een ieder, die overgebleven zal zijn in het midden des lands, die zal boter en honig eten. 23Ook zal het te dienzelfden dage geschieden, dat iedere plaats, alwaar duizend wijnstokken geweest zijn, van duizend zilverlingen, tot doornen en distelen zal zijn; 24Dat men met pijlen en met den boog aldaar zal moeten gaan; want het ganse land zal doornen en distelen zijn. 25Ook al de bergen, die men met houwelen pleegt om te hakken, daar zal men niet komen uit vrees der doornen en der distelen; maar die zullen wezen tot inzending van den os, en tot vertreding van het kleinvee.
