Isaia 26

1In quel giorno, si canterà questo cantico nel paese di Giuda: Noi abbiamo una città forte; l’Eterno vi pone la salvezza per mura e per bastioni. 2Aprite le porte ed entri la nazione giusta, che si mantiene fedele. 3A colui ch’è fermo nei suoi sentimenti tu conservi la pace, la pace, perché in te confida. 4Confidate in perpetuo nell’Eterno, poiché l’Eterno, sì l’Eterno, è la roccia dei secoli. 5Egli ha umiliato quelli che stavano in alto, Egli ha abbassato la città elevata, l’ha abbassata fino a terra, l’ha stesa nella polvere; 6i piedi la calpestano, i piedi del povero, vi passan sopra i meschini. 7La via del giusto è diritta; Tu rendi perfettamente piano il sentiero del giusto. 8Sulla via dei tuoi giudizi, o Eterno, noi t’abbiamo aspettato! Al tuo nome, al tuo ricordo anela l’anima nostra. 9Con l’anima mia ti desidero, durante al notte; con lo spirito ch’è dentro di me, ti cerco; poiché, quando i tuoi giudizi si compion sulla terra, gli abitanti del mondo imparan la giustizia. 10Se si fa grazia all’empio, ei non impara la giustizia; agisce da perverso nel paese della rettitudine, e non considera la maestà dell’Eterno. 11O Eterno, la tua mano è levata, ma quelli non la scorgono! Essi vedranno lo zelo che hai per il tuo popolo, e saranno confusi; il fuoco divorerà i tuoi nemici. 12O Eterno, tu ci darai la pace; poiché ogni opera nostra sei tu che la compi per noi. 13O Eterno, Dio nostro, altri signori, fuori di te, han dominato su noi; ma, grazie a te solo, noi possiamo celebrare il tuo nome. 14Quelli son morti, e non rivivranno più; son ombre, e non risorgeranno più; tu li hai così puniti, li hai distrutti, ne hai fatto perire ogni ricordo. 15Tu hai aumentata la nazione, o Eterno! hai aumentata la nazione, ti sei glorificato, hai allargato tutti i confini del paese. 16O Eterno, essi, nella distretta ti hanno cercato, si sono effusi in umile preghiera, quando il tuo castigo li colpiva. 17Come una donna incinta che sta per partorire si contorce e grida in mezzo alle sue doglie, così siamo stati noi dinanzi a te, o Eterno. 18Abbiamo concepito, siamo stati in doglie, e, quando abbiamo partorito, era vento; non abbiamo recata alcuna salvezza al paese, e non son nati degli abitanti nel mondo. 19Rivivano i tuoi morti! risorgano i miei cadaveri! Svegliatevi e giubilate, o voi che abitate nella polvere! Poiché la tua rugiada è come la rugiada dell’aurora, e la terrà ridarà alla vita le ombre. 20Va’, o mio popolo, entra nelle tue camere, chiudi le tue porte dietro a te; nasconditi per un istante, finché sia passata l’indignazione. 21Poiché, ecco l’Eterno esce dalla sua dimora per punire l’iniquità degli abitanti della terra; e la terra metterà allo scoperto il sangue che ha bevuto, e non terrà più coperti gli uccisi.

1In that day, this song will be sung in the land of Judah: “We have a strong city. God appoints salvation for walls and bulwarks. 2Open the gates, that the righteous nation may enter: the one which keeps faith. 3You will keep whoever’s mind is steadfast in perfect peace, because he trusts in you. 4Trust in Yahweh forever; for in Yah, Yahweh, is an everlasting Rock. 5For he has brought down those who dwell on high, the lofty city. He lays it low. He lays it low even to the ground. He brings it even to the dust. 6The foot shall tread it down; Even the feet of the poor, and the steps of the needy.” 7The way of the just is uprightness. You who are upright make the path of the righteous level. 8Yes, in the way of your judgments, Yahweh, have we waited for you. Your name and your renown are the desire of our soul. 9With my soul have I desired you in the night. Yes, with my spirit within me will I seek you earnestly; for when your judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness. 10Let favor be shown to the wicked, yet he will not learn righteousness. In the land of uprightness he will deal wrongfully, and will not see Yahweh’s majesty. 11Yahweh, your hand is lifted up, yet they don’t see; but they will see your zeal for the people, and be disappointed. Yes, fire will consume your adversaries. 12Yahweh, you will ordain peace for us, for you have also worked all our works for us. 13Yahweh our God, other lords besides you have had dominion over us, but by you only will we make mention of your name. 14The dead shall not live. The departed spirits shall not rise. Therefore you have visited and destroyed them, and caused all memory of them to perish. 15You have increased the nation, O Yahweh. You have increased the nation! You are glorified! You have enlarged all the borders of the land. 16Yahweh, in trouble they have visited you. They poured out a prayer when your chastening was on them. 17Like as a woman with child, who draws near the time of her delivery, is in pain and cries out in her pangs; so we have been before you, Yahweh. 18We have been with child. We have been in pain. We gave birth, it seems, only to wind. We have not worked any deliverance in the earth; neither have the inhabitants of the world fallen. 19Your dead shall live. My dead bodies shall arise. Awake and sing, you who dwell in the dust; for your dew is like the dew of herbs, and the earth will cast out the departed spirits. 20Come, my people, enter into your rooms, and shut your doors behind you. Hide yourself for a little moment, until the indignation is past. 21For, behold, Yahweh comes out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity. The earth also will disclose her blood, and will no longer cover her slain.

1Te dien dage zal dit lied gezongen worden in het land van Juda; Wij hebben een sterke stad, God stelt heil tot muren en voorschansen. 2Doet de poorten open, dat het rechtvaardige volk daarin ga, hetwelk de getrouwigheden bewaart. 3Het is een bevestigd voornemen, Gij zult allerlei vrede bewaren, want men heeft op U vertrouwd. 4Vertrouwt op den HEERE tot in der eeuwigheid; want in den Heere HEERE is een eeuwige rotssteen. 5Want Hij buigt de hooggezetenen neder, de verheven stad; Hij vernedert ze, Hij vernedert ze tot de aarde toe, Hij doet ze tot aan het stof reiken. 6De voet zal ze vertreden, de voeten des ellendigen, de treden der armen. 7Het pad des rechtvaardigen is geheel effen, den gang des rechtvaardigen weegt Gij recht. 8Wij hebben ook in den weg Uwer gerichten, U, o HEERE! verwacht; tot Uw Naam en tot Uw gedachtenis is de begeerte onzer ziel. 9Met mijn ziel heb ik U begeerd in den nacht, ook zal ik met mijn geest, die in het binnenste van mij is, U vroeg zoeken; want wanneer Uw gerichten op de aarde zijn, zo leren de inwoners der wereld gerechtigheid. 10Wordt den goddeloze genade bewezen, hij leert evenwel geen gerechtigheid, hij drijft onrecht in een gans richtig land, en hij ziet de hoogheid des HEEREN niet aan. 11HEERE! is Uw hand verhoogd, zij zien het niet; maar zij zullen het zien, en beschaamd worden, vanwege den ijver over Uw volk, ook zal het vuur Uw wederpartijders verteren. 12HEERE! Gij zult ons vrede bestellen, want Gij hebt ons ook al onze zaken uitgericht. 13HEERE, onze God! andere heren, behalve Gij, hebben over ons geheerst; doch door U alleen gedenken wij Uws Naams. 14Dood zijnde zullen zij niet weder leven, overleden zijnde zullen zij niet opstaan; daarom hebt Gij hen bezocht, en hebt hen verdelgd, en Gij hebt al hun gedachtenis doen vergaan. 15Gij, o HEERE! hadt dit volk vermeerderd, Gij hadt dit volk vermeerderd; Gij waart verheerlijkt geworden; maar Gij hebt hen in al de einden des aardrijks verre weggedaan. 16HEERE! in benauwdheid hebben zij U bezocht; zij hebben hun stil gebed uitgestort, als Uw tuchtiging over hen was. 17Gelijk een bevruchte vrouw, als zij nadert tot het baren, smarten heeft, en schreeuwt in haar weeen, alzo zijn wij geweest, o HEERE! vanwege Uw aangezicht. 18Wij waren bevrucht, wij hadden de smarten, maar wij hebben niet dan wind gebaard; wij deden het land geen behoudenis aan, en de inwoners der wereld vielen niet neder. 19Uw doden zullen leven, ook mijn dood lichaam, zij zullen opstaan; waakt op en juicht, gij, die in het stof woont! want uw dauw zal zijn als een dauw der moeskruiden, en het land zal de overledenen uitwerpen. 20Ga henen, mijn volk! ga in uw binnenste kamers, en sluit uw deuren na u toe; verberg u als een klein ogenblik, totdat de gramschap overga. 21Want ziet, de HEERE zal uit Zijn plaats uitgaan, om de ongerechtigheid van de inwoners der aarde over hen te bezoeken; en de aarde zal haar bloed ontdekken, en zal haar doodgeslagenen niet langer bedekt houden.
