Telles sont les fonctions de porteurs, imposées aux fils de Kehath dans la tente d’assignation. 16Éléazar, fils du sacrificateur Aaron, aura sous sa surveillance l’huile du chandelier, le parfum odoriférant, l’offrande perpétuelle et l’huile d’onction ; il aura sous sa surveillance tout le tabernacle et tout ce qu’il contient, le sanctuaire et ses ustensiles. 17L’Éternel parla à Moïse et à Aaron, et dit : 18N’exposez point la race des familles des Kehathites à être retranchée du milieu des Lévites. 19Faites ceci pour eux, afin qu’ils vivent et qu’ils ne meurent point, quand ils s’approcheront du lieu très saint : Aaron et ses fils viendront, et ils placeront chacun d’eux à son service et à sa charge. 20Ils n’entreront point pour voir envelopper les choses saintes, de peur qu’ils ne meurent. 21L’Éternel parla à Moïse, et dit : 22Compte aussi les fils de Guerschon, selon les maisons de leurs pères, selon leurs familles ; 23tu feras le dénombrement, depuis l’âge de trente ans et au-dessus jusqu’à l’âge de cinquante ans, de tous ceux qui sont propres à exercer quelque fonction dans la tente d’assignation. 24Voici les fonctions des familles des Guerschonites, le service qu’ils devront faire et ce qu’ils devront porter. 25Ils porteront les tapis du tabernacle et la tente d’assignation, sa couverture et la couverture de peaux de dauphins qui se met par-dessus, le rideau qui est à l’entrée de la tente d’assignation ; 26les toiles du parvis et le rideau de l’entrée de la porte du parvis, tout autour du tabernacle et de l’autel, leurs cordages et tous les ustensiles qui en dépendent. Et ils feront tout le service qui s’y rapporte. 27Dans leurs fonctions, les fils des Guerschonites seront sous les ordres d’Aaron et de ses fils, pour tout ce qu’ils porteront et pour tout le service qu’ils devront faire ; vous remettrez à leurs soins tout ce qu’ils ont à porter. 28Telles sont les fonctions des familles des fils des Guerschonites dans la tente d’assignation, et ce qu’ils ont à garder sous la direction d’Ithamar, fils du sacrificateur Aaron. 29Tu feras le dénombrement des fils de Merari, selon leurs familles, selon les maisons de leurs pères ; 30tu feras le dénombrement, depuis l’âge de trente ans et au-dessus jusqu’à l’âge de cinquante ans, de tous ceux qui sont propres à exercer quelque fonction dans la tente d’assignation. 31Voici ce qui est remis à leurs soins et ce qu’ils ont à porter, pour toutes leurs fonctions dans la tente d’assignation : les planches du tabernacle, ses barres, ses colonnes, ses bases, 32les colonnes du parvis formant l’enceinte, leurs bases, leurs pieux, leurs cordages, tous les ustensiles qui en dépendent et tout ce qui est destiné à leur service. Vous désignerez par leurs noms les objets qui sont remis à leurs soins et qu’ils ont à porter. 33Telles sont les fonctions des familles des fils de Merari, toutes leurs fonctions dans la tente d’assignation, sous la direction d’Ithamar, fils du sacrificateur Aaron. 34Moïse, Aaron et les princes de l’assemblée firent le dénombrement des fils des Kehathites, selon leurs familles et selon les maisons de leurs pères, 35de tous ceux qui, depuis l’âge de trente ans et au-dessus jusqu’à l’âge de cinquante ans, étaient propres à exercer quelque fonction dans la tente d’assignation. 36Ceux dont ils firent le dénombrement, selon leurs familles, furent deux mille sept cent cinquante. 37Tels sont ceux des familles des Kehathites dont on fit le dénombrement, tous ceux qui exerçaient des fonctions dans la tente d’assignation ; Moïse et Aaron en firent le dénombrement sur l’ordre de l’Éternel par Moïse. 38Les fils de Guerschon dont on fit le dénombrement, selon leurs familles et selon les maisons de leurs pères, 39depuis l’âge de trente ans et au-dessus jusqu’à l’âge de cinquante ans, tous ceux qui étaient propres à exercer quelque fonction dans la tente d’assignation, 40ceux dont on fit le dénombrement, selon leurs familles, selon les maisons de leurs pères, furent deux mille six cent trente. 41Tels sont ceux des familles des fils de Guerschon dont on fit le dénombrement, tous ceux qui exerçaient des fonctions dans la tente d’assignation ; Moïse et Aaron en firent le dénombrement sur l’ordre de l’Éternel. 42Ceux des familles des fils de Merari dont on fit le dénombrement, selon leurs familles, selon les maisons de leurs pères, 43depuis l’âge de trente ans et au-dessus jusqu’à l’âge de cinquante ans, tous ceux qui étaient propres à exercer quelque fonction dans la tente d’assignation, 44ceux dont on fit le dénombrement, selon leurs familles, furent trois mille deux cents. 45Tels sont ceux des familles des fils de Merari dont on fit le dénombrement ; Moïse et Aaron en firent le dénombrement sur l’ordre de l’Éternel par Moïse. 46Tous ceux des Lévites dont Moïse, Aaron et les princes d’Israël firent le dénombrement, selon leurs familles et selon les maisons de leurs pères, 47depuis l’âge de trente ans et au-dessus jusqu’à l’âge de cinquante ans, tous ceux qui étaient propres à exercer quelque fonction et à servir de porteurs dans la tente d’assignation, 48tous ceux dont on fit le dénombrement furent huit mille cinq cent quatre-vingts. 49On en fit le dénombrement sur l’ordre de l’Éternel par Moïse, en indiquant à chacun le service qu’il devait faire et ce qu’il devait porter ; on en fit le dénombrement selon l’ordre que l’Éternel avait donné à Moïse.
1Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying, 2“Take a census of the sons of Kohath from among the sons of Levi, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, 3from thirty years old and upward even until fifty years old, all who enter into the service, to do the work in the Tent of Meeting. 4“This is the service of the sons of Kohath in the Tent of Meeting, the most holy things. 5When the camp moves forward, Aaron shall go in, and his sons, and they shall take down the veil of the screen, and cover the ark of the Testimony with it, 6and shall put a covering of sealskin on it, and shall spread over it a cloth all of blue, and shall put in its poles. 7“On the table of show bread they shall spread a blue cloth, and put on it the dishes, the spoons, the bowls, and the cups with which to pour out; and the continual bread shall be on it. 8They shall spread on them a scarlet cloth, and cover the same with a covering of sealskin, and shall put in its poles. 9“They shall take a blue cloth, and cover the lamp stand of the light, and its lamps, and its snuffers, and its snuff dishes, and all its oil vessels, with which they minister to it. 10They shall put it and all its vessels within a covering of sealskin, and shall put it on the frame. 11“On the golden altar they shall spread a blue cloth, and cover it with a covering of sealskin, and shall put in its poles. 12“They shall take all the vessels of ministry, with which they minister in the sanctuary, and put them in a blue cloth, and cover them with a covering of sealskin, and shall put them on the frame. 13“They shall take away the ashes from the altar, and spread a purple cloth on it. 14They shall put on it all its vessels, with which they minister about it, the fire pans, the flesh hooks, the shovels, and the basins; all the vessels of the altar; and they shall spread on it a covering of sealskin, and put in its poles. 15“When Aaron and his sons have finished covering the sanctuary, and all the furniture of the sanctuary, as the camp moves forward; after that, the sons of Kohath shall come to carry it: but they shall not touch the sanctuary, lest they die. These things are the burden of the sons of Kohath in the Tent of Meeting. 16“The duty of Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest shall be the oil for the light, the sweet incense, the continual meal offering, and the anointing oil, the requirements of all the tabernacle, and of all that is in it, the sanctuary, and its furnishings.” 17Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying, 18“Don’t cut off the tribe of the families of the Kohathites from among the Levites; 19but thus do to them, that they may live, and not die, when they approach to the most holy things: Aaron and his sons shall go in, and appoint them everyone to his service and to his burden; 20but they shall not go in to see the sanctuary even for a moment, lest they die.” 21Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 22“Take a census of the sons of Gershon also, by their fathers’ houses, by their families; 23you shall count them from thirty years old and upward until fifty years old; all who enter in to wait on the service, to do the work in the Tent of Meeting. 24“This is the service of the families of the Gershonites, in serving and in bearing burdens: 25they shall carry the curtains of the tabernacle, and the Tent of Meeting, its covering, and the covering of sealskin that is above on it, and the screen for the door of the Tent of Meeting, 26and the hangings of the court, and the screen for the door of the gate of the court, which is by the tabernacle and around the altar, and their cords, and all the instruments of their service, and whatever shall be done with them. Therein shall they serve. 27At the commandment of Aaron and his sons shall be all the service of the sons of the Gershonites, in all their burden, and in all their service; and you shall appoint their duty to them in all their responsibilities. 28This is the service of the families of the sons of the Gershonites in the Tent of Meeting: and their duty shall be under the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest. 29“As for the sons of Merari, you shall number them by their families, by their fathers’ houses; 30you shall count them from thirty years old and upward even to fifty years old, everyone who enters on the service, to do the work of the Tent of Meeting. 31This is the duty of their burden, according to all their service in the Tent of Meeting: the tabernacle’s boards, its bars, its pillars, its sockets, 32and the pillars of the court around it, and their sockets, and their pins, and their cords, with all their instruments, and with all their service: and by name you shall appoint the instruments of the duty of their burden. 33This is the service of the families of the sons of Merari, according to all their service, in the Tent of Meeting, under the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest.” 34Moses and Aaron and the princes of the congregation numbered the sons of the Kohathites by their families, and by their fathers’ houses, 35from thirty years old and upward even to fifty years old, everyone who entered into the service, for work in the Tent of Meeting. 36Those who were numbered of them by their families were two thousand seven hundred fifty. 37These are those who were numbered of the families of the Kohathites, all who served in the Tent of Meeting, whom Moses and Aaron numbered according to the commandment of Yahweh by Moses. 38Those who were numbered of the sons of Gershon, their families, and by their fathers’ houses, 39from thirty years old and upward even to fifty years old, everyone who entered into the service, for work in the Tent of Meeting, 40even those who were numbered of them, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, were two thousand six hundred thirty. 41These are those who were numbered of the families of the sons of Gershon, all who served in the Tent of Meeting, whom Moses and Aaron numbered according to the commandment of Yahweh. 42Those who were numbered of the families of the sons of Merari, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, 43from thirty years old and upward even to fifty years old, everyone who entered into the service, for work in the Tent of Meeting, 44even those who were numbered of them by their families, were three thousand two hundred. 45These are those who were numbered of the families of the sons of Merari, whom Moses and Aaron numbered according to the commandment of Yahweh by Moses. 46All those who were numbered of the Levites, whom Moses and Aaron and the princes of Israel numbered, by their families, and by their fathers’ houses, 47from thirty years old and upward even to fifty years old, everyone who entered in to do the work of service, and the work of bearing burdens in the Tent of Meeting, 48even those who were numbered of them, were eight thousand five hundred eighty. 49According to the commandment of Yahweh they were numbered by Moses, everyone according to his service, and according to his burden. Thus were they numbered by him, as Yahweh commanded Moses.
