1L’Éternel parla à Moïse dans le désert de Sinaï, dans la tente d’assignation, le premier jour du second mois, la seconde année après leur sortie du pays d’Égypte. Il dit : 2Faites le dénombrement de toute l’assemblée des enfants d’Israël, selon leurs familles, selon les maisons de leurs pères, en comptant par tête les noms de tous les mâles, 3depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux d’Israël en état de porter les armes ; vous en ferez le dénombrement selon leurs divisions, toi et Aaron. 4Il y aura avec vous un homme par tribu, chef de la maison de ses pères . 5Voici les noms des hommes qui se tiendront avec vous. Pour Ruben : Élitsur, fils de Schedéur ; 6pour Siméon : Schelumiel, fils de Tsurischaddaï ; 7pour Juda : Nachschon, fils d’Amminadab ; 8pour Issacar : Nethaneel, fils de Tsuar ; 9pour Zabulon : Éliab, fils de Hélon ; 10pour les fils de Joseph, -pour Éphraïm : Élischama, fils d’Ammihud ; -pour Manassé : Gamliel, fils de Pedahtsur ; 11pour Benjamin : Abidan, fils de Guideoni ; 12pour Dan : Ahiézer, fils d’Ammischaddaï ; 13pour Aser : Paguiel, fils d’Ocran ; 14pour Gad : Éliasaph, fils de Déuel ; 15pour Nephthali : Ahira, fils d’Énan. 16Tels sont ceux qui furent convoqués à l’assemblée, princes des tribus de leurs pères, chefs des milliers d’Israël. 17Moïse et Aaron prirent ces hommes, qui avaient été désignés par leurs noms, 18et ils convoquèrent toute l’assemblée, le premier jour du second mois. On les enregistra selon leurs familles, selon les maisons de leurs pères, en comptant par tête les noms depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus. 19Moïse en fit le dénombrement dans le désert de Sinaï, comme l’Éternel le lui avait ordonné. 20On enregistra les fils de Ruben, premier-né d’Israël, selon leurs familles, selon les maisons de leurs pères, en comptant par tête les noms de tous les mâles, depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux en état de porter les armes : 21les hommes de la tribu de Ruben dont on fit le dénombrement furent quarante-six mille cinq cents. 22On enregistra les fils de Siméon, selon leurs familles, selon les maisons de leurs pères ; on en fit le dénombrement, en comptant par tête les noms de tous les mâles depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux en état de porter les armes : 23les hommes de la tribu de Siméon dont on fit le dénombrement furent cinquante-neuf mille trois cents. 24On enregistra les fils de Gad, selon leurs familles, selon les maisons de leurs pères, en comptant les noms depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux en état de porter les armes : 25les hommes de la tribu de Gad dont on fit le dénombrement furent quarante-cinq mille six cent cinquante. 26On enregistra les fils de Juda, selon leurs familles, selon les maisons de leurs pères, en comptant les noms depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux en état de porter les armes : 27les hommes de la tribu de Juda dont on fit le dénombrement furent soixante-quatorze mille six cents. 28On enregistra les fils d’Issacar, selon leurs familles, selon les maisons de leurs pères, en comptant les noms depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux en état de porter les armes : 29les hommes de la tribu d’Issacar dont on fit le dénombrement furent cinquante-quatre mille quatre cents. 30On enregistra les fils de Zabulon, selon leurs familles, selon les maisons de leurs pères, en comptant les noms depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux en état de porter les armes : 31les hommes de la tribu de Zabulon dont on fit le dénombrement furent cinquante-sept mille quatre cents. 32On enregistra, d’entre les fils de Joseph, les fils d’Éphraïm, selon leurs familles, selon les maisons de leurs pères, en comptant les noms depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux en état de porter les armes : 33les hommes de la tribu d’Éphraïm dont on fit le dénombrement furent quarante mille cinq cents. 34On enregistra les fils de Manassé, selon leurs familles, selon les maisons de leurs pères, en comptant les noms depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux en état de porter les armes : 35les hommes de la tribu de Manassé dont on fit le dénombrement furent trente-deux mille deux cents. 36On enregistra les fils de Benjamin, selon leurs familles, selon les maisons de leurs pères, en comptant les noms depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux en état de porter les armes : 37les hommes de la tribu de Benjamin dont on fit le dénombrement furent trente-cinq mille quatre cents. 38On enregistra les fils de Dan, selon leurs familles, selon les maisons de leurs pères, en comptant les noms depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux en état de porter les armes : 39les hommes de la tribu de Dan dont on fit le dénombrement furent soixante-deux mille sept cents. 40On enregistra les fils d’Aser, selon leurs familles, selon les maisons de leurs pères, en comptant les noms depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux en état de porter les armes : 41les hommes de la tribu d’Aser dont on fit le dénombrement furent quarante et un mille cinq cents. 42On enregistra les fils de Nephthali, selon leurs familles, selon les maisons de leurs pères, en comptant les noms depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux en état de porter les armes : 43les hommes de la tribu de Nephthali dont on fit le dénombrement furent cinquante-trois mille quatre cents. 44Tels sont ceux dont le dénombrement fut fait par Moïse et Aaron, et par les douze hommes, princes d’Israël ; il y avait un homme pour chacune des maisons de leurs pères. 45Tous ceux des enfants d’Israël dont on fit le dénombrement, selon les maisons de leurs pères, depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux d’Israël en état de porter les armes, 46tous ceux dont on fit le dénombrement furent six cent trois mille cinq cent cinquante. 47Les Lévites, selon la tribu de leurs pères, ne firent point partie de ce dénombrement. 48L’Éternel parla à Moïse, et dit : 49Tu ne feras point le dénombrement de la tribu de Lévi, et tu n’en compteras point les têtes au milieu des enfants d’Israël. 50Remets aux soins des Lévites le tabernacle du témoignage, tous ses ustensiles et tout ce qui lui appartient. Ils porteront le tabernacle et tous ses ustensiles, ils en feront le service, et ils camperont autour du tabernacle. 51Quand le tabernacle partira, les Lévites le démonteront ; quand le tabernacle campera, les Lévites le dresseront ; et l’étranger qui en approchera sera puni de mort. 52Les enfants d’Israël camperont chacun dans son camp, chacun près de sa bannière, selon leurs divisions. 53Mais les Lévites camperont autour du tabernacle du témoignage, afin que ma colère n’éclate point sur l’assemblée des enfants d’Israël ; et les Lévites auront la garde du tabernacle du témoignage. 54Les enfants d’Israël se conformèrent à tous les ordres que l’Éternel avait donnés à Moïse ; ils firent ainsi.
1Yahweh spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the Tent of Meeting, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after they had come out of the land of Egypt, saying, 2“Take a census of all the congregation of the children of Israel, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, every male, one by one; 3from twenty years old and upward, all who are able to go out to war in Israel. You and Aaron shall number them by their divisions. 4With you there shall be a man of every tribe; everyone head of his fathers’ house. 5These are the names of the men who shall stand with you: Of Reuben: Elizur the son of Shedeur. 6Of Simeon: Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai. 7Of Judah: Nahshon the son of Amminadab. 8Of Issachar: Nethanel the son of Zuar. 9Of Zebulun: Eliab the son of Helon. 10Of the children of Joseph: Of Ephraim: Elishama the son of Ammihud. Of Manasseh: Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur. 11Of Benjamin: Abidan the son of Gideoni. 12Of Dan: Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai. 13Of Asher: Pagiel the son of Ochran. 14Of Gad: Eliasaph the son of Deuel. 15Of Naphtali: Ahira the son of Enan.” 16These are those who were called of the congregation, the princes of the tribes of their fathers; they were the heads of the thousands of Israel. 17Moses and Aaron took these men who are mentioned by name. 18They assembled all the congregation together on the first day of the second month; and they declared their ancestry by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, one by one. 19As Yahweh commanded Moses, so he numbered them in the wilderness of Sinai. 20The children of Reuben, Israel’s firstborn, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, one by one, every male from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war; 21those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Reuben, were forty-six thousand five hundred. 22Of the children of Simeon, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, those who were numbered of it, according to the number of the names, one by one, every male from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war; 23those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Simeon, were fifty-nine thousand three hundred. 24Of the children of Gad, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war; 25those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Gad, were forty-five thousand six hundred fifty. 26Of the children of Judah, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war; 27those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Judah, were seventy-four thousand six hundred. 28Of the children of Issachar, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war; 29those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Issachar, were fifty-four thousand four hundred. 30Of the children of Zebulun, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war; 31those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Zebulun, were fifty-seven thousand four hundred. 32Of the children of Joseph, of the children of Ephraim, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war; 33those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Ephraim, were forty thousand five hundred. 34Of the children of Manasseh, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war; 35those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Manasseh, were thirty-two thousand two hundred. 36Of the children of Benjamin, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war; 37those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Benjamin, were thirty-five thousand four hundred. 38Of the children of Dan, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war; 39those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Dan, were sixty-two thousand seven hundred. 40Of the children of Asher, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war; 41those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Asher, were forty-one thousand five hundred. 42Of the children of Naphtali, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war; 43those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Naphtali, were fifty-three thousand four hundred. 44These are those who were numbered, whom Moses and Aaron numbered, and the princes of Israel, being twelve men: they were each one for his fathers’ house. 45So all those who were numbered of the children of Israel by their fathers’ houses, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war in Israel; 46even all those who were numbered were six hundred three thousand five hundred fifty. 47But the Levites after the tribe of their fathers were not numbered among them. 48For Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 49“Only the tribe of Levi you shall not number, neither shall you take a census of them among the children of Israel; 50but appoint the Levites over the Tabernacle of the Testimony, and over all its furnishings, and over all that belongs to it. They shall carry the tabernacle, and all its furnishings; and they shall take care of it, and shall encamp around it. 51When the tabernacle is to move, the Levites shall take it down; and when the tabernacle is to be set up, the Levites shall set it up. The stranger who comes near shall be put to death. 52The children of Israel shall pitch their tents, every man by his own camp, and every man by his own standard, according to their divisions. 53But the Levites shall encamp around the Tabernacle of the Testimony, that there may be no wrath on the congregation of the children of Israel: and the Levites shall be responsible for the Tabernacle of the Testimony.” 54Thus the children of Israel did. According to all that Yahweh commanded Moses, so they did.

en die verklaarden hun afkomst, naar hun geslachten, naar het huis hunner vaderen, in het getal der namen, van die twintig jaren oud was en daarboven, hoofd voor hoofd. 19Gelijk als de HEERE Mozes geboden had, zo heeft hij hen geteld in de woestijn van Sinai. 20Zo waren de zonen van Ruben, den eerstgeborene van Israel, hun geboorten, naar hun geslachten, naar het huis hunner vaderen, in het getal der namen, hoofd voor hoofd, al wat mannelijk was, van twintig jaren oud en daarboven, allen, die ten heire uittrokken; 34Van de zonen van Manasse, hun geboorten, naar hun geslachten, naar het huis hunner vaderen, in het getal der namen, van twintig jaren oud en daarboven, allen, die ten heire uittrokken, 35Waren hun getelden van den stam van Manasse twee en dertig duizend en tweehonderd. 36Van de zonen van Benjamin, hun geboorten, naar hun geslachten, naar het huis hunner vaderen, in het getal der namen, van twintig jaren oud en daarboven, allen, die ten heire uittrokken, 37Waren hun getelden van den stam van Benjamin vijf en dertig duizend en vierhonderd. 38Van de zonen van Dan, hun geboorten, naar hun geslachten, naar het huis hunner vaderen, in het getal der namen, van twintig jaren oud en daarboven, allen, die ten heire uittrokken, 39Waren hun getelden van den stam van Dan twee en zestig duizend en zevenhonderd. 40Van de zonen van Aser, hun geboorten, naar hun geslachten, naar het huis hunner vaderen, in het getal der namen, van twintig jaren oud en daarboven, allen, die ten heire uittrokken, 41Waren hun getelden van den stam van Aser een en veertig duizend en vijfhonderd. 42Van de zonen van Nafthali, hun geboorten, naar hun geslachten, naar het huis hunner vaderen, in het getal der namen, van twintig jaren oud en daarboven, allen, die ten heire uittrokken, 43Waren hun getelden van den stam van Nafthali drie en vijftig duizend en vierhonderd. 44Dezen zijn de getelden, welke Mozes geteld heeft, en Aaron, en de oversten van Israel; twaalf mannen waren zij, elk over het huis zijner vaderen. 45Alzo waren al de getelden der zonen van Israel, naar het huis hunner vaderen, van twintig jaren oud en daarboven, allen, die in Israel ten heire uittrokken, 46Al de getelden dan waren zeshonderd drie duizend vijfhonderd en vijftig. 47Maar de Levieten, naar den stam hunner vaderen, werden onder hen niet geteld. 48Want de HEERE had tot Mozes gesproken, zeggende: 49Alleen de stam van Levi zult gij niet tellen, noch hun som opnemen, onder de zonen van Israel. 50Maar gij, stel de Levieten over den tabernakel der getuigenis, en over al zijn gereedschap, en over alles, wat daartoe behoort; zij zullen den tabernakel dragen, en al zijn gereedschap; en zij zullen dien bedienen, en zij zullen zich rondom den tabernakel legeren. 51En als de tabernakel zal optrekken, de Levieten zullen denzelven afnemen; en wanneer de tabernakel zich legeren zal, zullen de Levieten denzelven oprichten; en de vreemde, die daarbij komt, zal gedood worden. 52En de kinderen Israels zullen zich legeren, een iegelijk bij zijn leger, en een iegelijk bij zijn banier, naar hun heiren. 53Maar de Levieten zullen zich legeren rondom den tabernakel der getuigenis, opdat geen verbolgenheid over de vergadering van de kinderen Israels zij; daarom zullen de Levieten de wacht van den tabernakel der getuigenis waarnemen. 54Zo deden de kinderen Israels; naar alles, wat de HEERE Mozes geboden had, zo deden zij.
