1La main de l’Éternel fut sur moi, et l’Éternel me transporta en esprit, et me déposa dans le milieu d’une vallée remplie d’ossements. 2Il me fit passer auprès d’eux, tout autour ; et voici, ils étaient fort nombreux, à la surface de la vallée, et ils étaient complètement secs. 3Il me dit : Fils de l’homme, ces os pourront-ils revivre ? Je répondis : Seigneur Éternel, tu le sais. 4Il me dit : Prophétise sur ces os, et dis-leur : Ossements desséchés, écoutez la parole de l’Éternel ! 5Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Éternel, à ces os : Voici, je vais faire entrer en vous un esprit, et vous vivrez ; 6je vous donnerai des nerfs, je ferai croître sur vous de la chair, je vous couvrirai de peau, je mettrai en vous un esprit, et vous vivrez. Et vous saurez que je suis l’Éternel. 7Je prophétisai, selon l’ordre que j’avais reçu. Et comme je prophétisais, il y eut un bruit, et voici, il se fit un mouvement, et les os s’approchèrent les uns des autres. 8Je regardai, et voici, il leur vint des nerfs, la chair crût, et la peau les couvrit par-dessus ; mais il n’y avait point en eux d’esprit. 9Il me dit : Prophétise, et parle à l’esprit ! prophétise, fils de l’homme, et dis à l’esprit : Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Éternel : Esprit, viens des quatre vents, souffle sur ces morts, et qu’ils revivent ! 10Je prophétisai, selon l’ordre qu’il m’avait donné. Et l’esprit entra en eux, et ils reprirent vie, et ils se tinrent sur leurs pieds : c’était une armée nombreuse, très nombreuse. 11Il me dit : Fils de l’homme, ces os, c’est toute la maison d’Israël. Voici, ils disent : Nos os sont desséchés, notre espérance est détruite, nous sommes perdus ! 12Prophétise donc, et dis-leur : Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Éternel : Voici, j’ouvrirai vos sépulcres, je vous ferai sortir de vos sépulcres, ô mon peuple, et je vous ramènerai dans le pays d’Israël. 13Et vous saurez que je suis l’Éternel, lorsque j’ouvrirai vos sépulcres, et que je vous ferai sortir de vos sépulcres, ô mon peuple ! 14Je mettrai mon esprit en vous, et vous vivrez ; je vous rétablirai dans votre pays, et vous saurez que moi, l’Éternel, j’ai parlé et agi, dit l’Éternel. 15La parole de l’Éternel me fut adressée, en ces mots : 16Et toi, fils de l’homme, prends une pièce de bois, et écris dessus : Pour Juda et pour les enfants d’Israël qui lui sont associés. Prends une autre pièce de bois, et écris dessus : Pour Joseph, bois d’Éphraïm et de toute la maison d’Israël qui lui est associée. 17Rapproche-les l’une et l’autre pour en former une seule pièce, en sorte qu’elles soient unies dans ta main. 18Et lorsque les enfants de ton peuple te diront : Ne nous expliqueras-tu pas ce que cela signifie ? 19réponds-leur : Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Éternel : Voici, je prendrai le bois de Joseph qui est dans la main d’Éphraïm, et les tribus d’Israël qui lui sont associées ; je les joindrai au bois de Juda, et j’en formerai un seul bois, en sorte qu’ils ne soient qu’un dans ma main. 20Les bois sur lesquels tu écriras seront dans ta main, sous leurs yeux. 21Et tu leur diras : Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Éternel : Voici, je prendrai les enfants d’Israël du milieu des nations où ils sont allés, je les rassemblerai de toutes parts, et je les ramènerai dans leur pays. 22Je ferai d’eux une seule nation dans le pays, dans les montagnes d’Israël ; ils auront tous un même roi, ils ne formeront plus deux nations, et ne seront plus divisés en deux royaumes. 23Ils ne se souilleront plus par leurs idoles, par leurs abominations, et par toutes leurs transgressions ; je les retirerai de tous les lieux qu’ils ont habités et où ils ont péché, et je les purifierai ; ils seront mon peuple, et je serai leur Dieu. 24Mon serviteur David sera leur roi, et ils auront tous un seul pasteur. Ils suivront mes ordonnances, ils observeront mes lois et les mettront en pratique. 25Ils habiteront le pays que j’ai donné à mon serviteur Jacob, et qu’ont habité vos pères ; ils y habiteront, eux, leurs enfants, et les enfants de leurs enfants, à perpétuité ; et mon serviteur David sera leur prince pour toujours. 26Je traiterai avec eux une alliance de paix, et il y aura une alliance éternelle avec eux ; je les établirai, je les multiplierai, et je placerai mon sanctuaire au milieu d’eux pour toujours. 27Ma demeure sera parmi eux ; je serai leur Dieu, et ils seront mon peuple. 28Et les nations sauront que je suis l’Éternel, qui sanctifie Israël, lorsque mon sanctuaire sera pour toujours au milieu d’eux.
1The hand of Yahweh was on me, and he brought me out in the Spirit of Yahweh, and set me down in the midst of the valley; and it was full of bones. 2He caused me to pass by them all around: and behold, there were very many in the open valley; and behold, they were very dry. 3He said to me, Son of man, can these bones live? I answered, Lord Yahweh, you know. 4Again he said to me, Prophesy over these bones, and tell them, you dry bones, hear Yahweh’s word. 5Thus says the Lord Yahweh to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live. 6I will lay sinews on you, and will bring up flesh on you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall live; and you shall know that I am Yahweh. 7So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold, an earthquake; and the bones came together, bone to its bone. 8I saw, and, behold, there were sinews on them, and flesh came up, and skin covered them above; but there was no breath in them. 9Then he said to me, Prophesy to the wind, prophesy, son of man, and tell the wind, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Come from the four winds, breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live. 10So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up on their feet, an exceedingly great army. 11Then he said to me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried up, and our hope is lost; we are clean cut off. 12Therefore prophesy, and tell them, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Behold, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, my people; and I will bring you into the land of Israel. 13You shall know that I am Yahweh, when I have opened your graves, and caused you to come up out of your graves, my people. 14I will put my Spirit in you, and you shall live, and I will place you in your own land: and you shall know that I, Yahweh, have spoken it and performed it, says Yahweh. 15Yahweh’s word came again to me, saying, 16You, son of man, take one stick, and write on it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and write on it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel his companions: 17and join them for you one to another into one stick, that they may become one in your hand. 18When the children of your people shall speak to you, saying, Will you not show us what you mean by these? 19tell them, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his companions; and I will put them with it, with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in my hand. 20The sticks whereon you write shall be in your hand before their eyes. 21Say to them, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the nations, where they are gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land: 22and I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all; and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all; 23neither shall they defile themselves any more with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions; but I will save them out of all their dwelling places, in which they have sinned, and will cleanse them: so shall they be my people, and I will be their God. 24My servant David shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd: they shall also walk in my ordinances, and observe my statutes, and do them. 25They shall dwell in the land that I have given to Jacob my servant, in which your fathers lived; and they shall dwell therein, they, and their children, and their children’s children, forever: and David my servant shall be their prince for ever. 26Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them; and I will place them, and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in their midst forever more. 27My tent also shall be with them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 28The nations shall know that I am Yahweh who sanctifies Israel, when my sanctuary shall be in their midst forever more.
1De hand des HEEREN was op mij, en de HEERE voerde mij uit in den geest, en zette mij neder in het midden ener vallei; dezelve nu was vol beenderen. 2En Hij deed mij bij dezelve voorbijgaan geheel rondom; en ziet, er waren zeer vele op den grond der vallei; en ziet, zij waren zeer dor. 3En Hij zeide tot mij: Mensenkind! zullen deze beenderen levend worden? En ik zeide: Heere HEERE, Gij weet het! 4Toen zeide Hij tot mij: Profeteer over deze beenderen, en zeg tot dezelve: Gij dorre beenderen! hoort des HEEREN woord. 5Alzo zegt de Heere HEERE tot deze beenderen: Ziet, Ik zal den geest in u brengen, en gij zult levend worden. 6En Ik zal zenuwen op u leggen, en vlees op u doen opkomen, en een huid over u trekken, en den geest in u geven, en gij zult levend worden; en gij zult weten, dat Ik de HEERE ben. 7Toen profeteerde ik, gelijk mij bevolen was, en er werd een geluid, als ik profeteerde, en ziet een beroering! en de beenderen naderden, elk been tot zijn been. 8En ik zag, en ziet, en er werden zenuwen op dezelve, en er kwam vlees op; en Hij trok een huid boven over dezelve, maar er was geen geest in hen. 9En Hij zeide tot mij: Profeteer tot den geest; profeteer, mensenkind! en zeg tot den geest: Zo zegt de Heere HEERE: Gij geest! kom aan van de vier winden, en blaas in deze gedoden, opdat zij levend worden. 10En ik profeteerde, gelijk als Hij mij bevolen had. Toen kwam de geest in hen, en zij werden levend en stonden op hun voeten, een gans zeer groot heir. 11Toen zeide Hij tot mij: Mensenkind! deze beenderen zijn het ganse huis Israels; ziet, zij zeggen: Onze beenderen zijn verdord, en onze verwachting is verloren, wij zijn afgesneden. 12Daarom, profeteer en zeg tot hen: Zo zegt de Heere HEERE: Ziet, Ik zal uw graven openen, en zal ulieden uit uw graven doen opkomen, o Mijn volk! en Ik zal u brengen in het land Israels. 13En gij zult weten, dat Ik de HEERE ben, als Ik uw graven zal hebben geopend, en als Ik u uit uw graven zal hebben doen opkomen, o Mijn volk! 14En Ik zal Mijn Geest in u geven, en gij zult leven, en Ik zal u in uw land zetten; en gij zult weten, dat Ik, de HEERE, dit gesproken en gedaan heb, spreekt de HEERE. 15Wijders geschiedde des HEEREN woord tot mij, zeggende: 16Gij nu, mensenkind! neem u een hout, en schrijf daarop: Voor Juda, en voor de kinderen Israels, zijn metgezellen; en neem een ander hout, en schrijf daarop: Voor Jozef, het hout van Efraim, en van het ganse huis Israels, zijn metgezellen. 17Doe gij ze dan naderen, het een tot het ander tot een enig hout; en zij zullen tot een worden in uw hand. 18En wanneer de kinderen uws volks tot u zullen spreken, zeggende: Zult gij ons niet te kennen geven, wat u deze dingen zijn? 19Zo spreek tot hen: Alzo zegt de Heere HEERE: Ziet, Ik zal het hout van Jozef, dat in Efraims hand geweest is, en van de stammen Israels, zijn metgezellen, nemen, en Ik zal dezelve met hem voegen tot het hout van Juda, en zal ze maken tot een enig hout; en zij zullen een worden in Mijn hand. 20De houten nu, op dewelke gij zult geschreven hebben, zullen in uw hand zijn voor hunlieder ogen. 21Spreek dan tot hen: Zo zegt de Heere HEERE: Ziet, Ik zal de kinderen Israels halen uit het midden der heidenen, waarhenen zij getogen zijn, en zal ze vergaderen van rondom, en brengen hen in hun land; 22En Ik zal ze maken tot een enig volk in het land, op de bergen Israels; en zij zullen allen te zamen een enigen Koning tot koning hebben; en zij zullen niet meer tot twee volken zijn, noch voortaan meer in twee koninkrijken verdeeld zijn. 23En zij zullen zich niet meer verontreinigen met hun drekgoden, en met hun verfoeiselen, en met al hun overtredingen; en Ik zal ze verlossen uit al hun woonplaatsen, in dewelke zij gezondigd hebben, en zal ze reinigen; zo zullen zij Mij tot een volk zijn, en Ik zal hun tot een God zijn. 24En Mijn Knecht David zal Koning over hen zijn; en zij zullen allen te zamen een Herder hebben; en zij zullen in Mijn rechten wandelen, en Mijn inzettingen bewaren en die doen. 25En zij zullen wonen in het land, dat Ik Mijn knecht Jakob gegeven heb, waarin uw vaders gewoond hebben; ja, daarin zullen zij wonen, zij en hun kinderen, en hun kindskinderen tot in eeuwigheid, en Mijn Knecht David zal hunlieder Vorst zijn tot in eeuwigheid. 26En Ik zal een verbond des vredes met hen maken, het zal een eeuwig verbond met hen zijn; en Ik zal ze inzetten en zal ze vermenigvuldigen, en Ik zal Mijn heiligdom in het midden van hen zetten tot in eeuwigheid. 27En Mijn tabernakel zal bij hen zijn, en Ik zal hun tot een God zijn, en zij zullen Mij tot een volk zijn. 28En de heidenen zullen weten, dat Ik de HEERE ben, Die Israel heilige, als Mijn heiligdom in het midden van hen zal zijn tot in eeuwigheid.
