1Y VENIDA la mañana, entraron en consejo todos los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y los ancianos del pueblo, contra Jesús, para entregarle á muerte. 2Y le llevaron atado, y le entregaron á Poncio Pilato presidente. 3Entonces Judas, el que le había entregado, viendo que era condenado, volvió arrepentido las treinta piezas de plata á los príncipes de los sacerdotes y á los ancianos, 4Diciendo: Yo he pecado entregando la sangre inocente. Mas ellos dijeron: ¿Qué se nos da á nosotros? Viéraslo tú. 5Y arrojando las piezas de plata en el templo, partióse; y fué, y se ahorcó. 6Y los príncipes de los sacerdotes, tomando las piezas de plata, dijeron: No es lícito echarlas en el tesoro de los dones, porque es precio de sangre. 7Mas habido consejo, compraron con ellas el campo del alfarero, por sepultura para los extranjeros. 8Por lo cual fué llamado aquel campo, Campo de sangre, hasta el día de hoy. 9Entonces se cumplió lo que fué dicho por el profeta Jeremías, que dijo: Y tomaron las treinta piezas de plata, precio del apreciado, que fué apreciado por los hijos de Israel; 10Y las dieron para el campo del alfarero, como me ordenó el Señor. 11Y Jesús estuvo delante del presidente; y el presidente le preguntó, diciendo: ¿Eres tú el Rey de los judíos? Y Jesús le dijo: Tú lo dices. 12Y siendo acusado por los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y por los ancianos, nada respondió. 13Pilato entonces le dice: ¿No oyes cuántas cosas testifican contra ti? 14Y no le respondió ni una palabra; de tal manera que el presidente se maravillaba mucho. 15Y en el día de la fiesta acostumbraba el presidente soltar al pueblo un preso, cual quisiesen. 16Y tenían entonces un preso famoso que se llamaba Barrabás. 17Y juntos ellos, les dijo Pilato: ¿Cuál queréis que os suelte? ¿á Barrabás, ó á Jesús que se dice el Cristo? 18Porque sabía que por envidia le habían entregado. 19Y estando él sentado en el tribunal, su mujer envió á él, diciendo: No tengas que ver con aquel justo; porque hoy he padecido muchas cosas en sueños por causa de él. 20Mas los príncipes de los sacerdotes y los ancianos, persuadieron al pueblo que pidiese á Barrabás, y á Jesús matase. 21Y respondiendo el presidente les dijo: ¿Cuál de los dos queréis que os suelte? Y ellos dijeron: A Barrabás. 22Pilato les dijo: ¿Qué pues haré de Jesús que se dice el Cristo? Dícenle todos: Sea crucificado. 23Y el presidente les dijo: Pues ¿qué mal ha hecho? Mas ellos gritaban más, diciendo: Sea crucificado. 24Y viendo Pilato que nada adelantaba, antes se hacía más alboroto, tomando agua se lavó las manos delante del pueblo, diciendo: Inocente soy yo de la sangre de este justo: veréislo vosotros. 25Y respondiendo todo el pueblo, dijo: Su sangre sea sobre nosotros, y sobre nuestros hijos. 26Entonces les soltó á Barrabás: y habiendo azotado á Jesús, le entregó para ser crucificado. 27Entonces los soldados del presidente llevaron á Jesús al pretorio, y juntaron á él toda la cuadrilla; 28Y desnudándole, le echaron encima un manto de grana; 29Y pusieron sobre su cabeza una corona tejida de espinas, y una caña en su mano derecha; é hincando la rodilla delante de él, le burlaban, diciendo: ¡Salve, Rey de los Judíos! 30Y escupiendo en él, tomaron la caña, y le herían en la cabeza. 31Y después que le hubieron escarnecido, le desnudaron el manto, y le vistieron de sus vestidos, y le llevaron para crucificarle. 32Y saliendo, hallaron á un Cireneo, que se llamaba Simón: á éste cargaron para que llevase su cruz. 33Y como llegaron al lugar que se llama Gólgotha, que es dicho, El lugar de la calavera, 34Le dieron á beber vinagre mezclado con hiel; y gustando, no quiso beberlo. 35Y después que le hubieron crucificado, repartieron sus vestidos, echando suertes: para que se cumpliese lo que fué dicho por el profeta: Se repartieron mis vestidos, y sobre mi ropa echaron suertes. 36Y sentados le guardaban allí. 37Y pusieron sobre su cabeza su causa escrita: ESTE ES JESUS EL REY DE LOS JUDIOS. 38Entonces crucificaron con él dos ladrones, uno á la derecha, y otro á la izquierda. 39Y los que pasaban, le decían injurias, meneando sus cabezas, 40Y diciendo: Tú, el que derribas el templo, y en tres días lo reedificas, sálvate á ti mismo: si eres Hijo de Dios, desciende de la cruz. 41De esta manera también los príncipes de los sacerdotes, escarneciendo con los escribas y los Fariseos y los ancianos, decían: 42A otros salvó, á sí mismo no puede salvar: si es el Rey de Israel, descienda ahora de la cruz, y creeremos en él. 43Confió en Dios: líbrele ahora si le quiere: porque ha dicho: Soy Hijo de Dios. 44Lo mismo también le zaherían los ladrones que estaban crucificados con él. 45Y desde la hora de sexta fueron tinieblas sobre toda la tierra hasta la hora de nona. 46Y cerca de la hora de nona, Jesús exclamó con grande voz, diciendo: Eli, Eli, ¿lama sabachtani? Esto es: Dios mío, Dios mío, ¿por qué me has desamparado? 47Y algunos de los que estaban allí, oyéndolo, decían: A Elías llama éste. 48Y luego, corriendo uno de ellos, tomó una esponja, y la hinchió de vinagre, y poniéndola en una caña, dábale de beber. 49Y los otros decían: Deja, veamos si viene Elías á librarle. 50Mas Jesús, habiendo otra vez exclamado con grande voz, dió el espíritu. 51Y he aquí, el velo del templo se rompió en dos, de alto á bajo: y la tierra tembló, y las piedras se hendieron; 52Y abriéronse los sepulcros, y muchos cuerpos de santos que habían dormido, se levantaron; 53Y salidos de los sepulcros, después de su resurrección, vinieron á la santa ciudad, y aparecieron á muchos. 54Y el centurión, y los que estaban con él guardando á Jesús, visto el terremoto, y las cosas que habían sido hechas, temieron en gran manera, diciendo: Verdaderamente Hijo de Dios era éste. 55Y estaban allí muchas mujeres mirando de lejos, las cuales habían seguido de Galilea á Jesús, sirviéndole: 56Entre las cuales estaban María Magdalena, y María la madre de Jacobo y de José, y la madre de los hijos de Zebedeo. 57Y como fué la tarde del día, vino un hombre rico de Arimatea, llamado José, el cual también había sido discípulo de Jesús. 58Este llegó á Pilato, y pidió el cuerpo de Jesús: entonces Pilato mandó que se le diese el cuerpo. 59Y tomando José el cuerpo, lo envolvió en una sábana limpia, 60Y lo puso en su sepulcro nuevo, que había labrado en la peña: y revuelta una grande piedra á la puerta del sepulcro, se fué. 61Y estaban allí María Magdalena, y la otra María, sentadas delante del sepulcro. 62Y el siguiente día, que es después de la preparación, se juntaron los príncipes de los sacerdotes y los Fariseos á Pilato, 63Diciendo: Señor, nos acordamos que aquel engañador dijo, viviendo aún: Después de tres días resucitaré. 64Manda, pues, que se asegure el sepulcro hasta el día tercero; porque no vengan sus discípulos de noche, y le hurten, y digan al pueblo: Resucitó de los muertos. Y será el postrer error peor que el primero. 65Y Pilato les dijo: Tenéis una guardia: id, aseguradlo como sabéis. 66Y yendo ellos, aseguraron el sepulcro, sellando la piedra, con la guardia.
1Now when morning had come, all the chief priests and the elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death: 2and they bound him, and led him away, and delivered him up to Pontius Pilate, the governor. 3Then Judas, who betrayed him, when he saw that Jesus was condemned, felt remorse, and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, 4saying, “I have sinned in that I betrayed innocent blood.” But they said, “What is that to us? You see to it.” 5He threw down the pieces of silver in the sanctuary, and departed. He went away and hanged himself. 6The chief priests took the pieces of silver, and said, “It’s not lawful to put them into the treasury, since it is the price of blood.” 7They took counsel, and bought the potter’s field with them, to bury strangers in. 8Therefore that field was called “The Field of Blood” to this day. 9Then that which was spoken through Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled, saying, “They took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him upon whom a price had been set, whom some of the children of Israel priced, 10and they gave them for the potter’s field, as the Lord commanded me.” 11Now Jesus stood before the governor: and the governor asked him, saying, “Are you the King of the Jews?” Jesus said to him, “So you say.” 12When he was accused by the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing. 13Then Pilate said to him, “Don’t you hear how many things they testify against you?” 14He gave him no answer, not even one word, so that the governor marveled greatly. 15Now at the feast the governor was accustomed to release to the multitude one prisoner, whom they desired. 16They had then a notable prisoner, called Barabbas. 17When therefore they were gathered together, Pilate said to them, “Whom do you want me to release to you? Barabbas, or Jesus, who is called Christ?” 18For he knew that because of envy they had delivered him up. 19While he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent to him, saying, “Have nothing to do with that righteous man, for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him.” 20Now the chief priests and the elders persuaded the multitudes to ask for Barabbas, and destroy Jesus. 21But the governor answered them, “Which of the two do you want me to release to you?” They said, “Barabbas!” 22Pilate said to them, “What then shall I do to Jesus, who is called Christ?” They all said to him, “Let him be crucified!” 23But the governor said, “Why? What evil has he done?” But they cried out exceedingly, saying, “Let him be crucified!” 24So when Pilate saw that nothing was being gained, but rather that a disturbance was starting, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, “I am innocent of the blood of this righteous person. You see to it.” 25All the people answered, “May his blood be on us, and on our children!” 26Then he released to them Barabbas, but Jesus he flogged and delivered to be crucified. 27Then the governor’s soldiers took Jesus into the Praetorium, and gathered the whole garrison together against him. 28They stripped him, and put a scarlet robe on him. 29They braided a crown of thorns and put it on his head, and a reed in his right hand; and they kneeled down before him, and mocked him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” 30They spat on him, and took the reed and struck him on the head. 31When they had mocked him, they took the robe off of him, and put his clothes on him, and led him away to crucify him. 32As they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name, and they compelled him to go with them, that he might carry his cross. 33They came to a place called “Golgotha”, that is to say, “The place of a skull.” 34They gave him sour wine to drink mixed with gall. When he had tasted it, he would not drink. 35When they had crucified him, they divided his clothing among them, casting lots, 36and they sat and watched him there. 37They set up over his head the accusation against him written, “THIS IS JESUS, THE KING OF THE JEWS.” 38Then there were two robbers crucified with him, one on his right hand and one on the left. 39Those who passed by blasphemed him, wagging their heads, 40and saying, “You who destroy the temple, and build it in three days, save yourself! If you are the Son of God, come down from the cross!” 41Likewise the chief priests also mocking, with the scribes, the Pharisees, and the elders, said, 42“He saved others, but he can’t save himself. If he is the King of Israel, let him come down from the cross now, and we will believe in him. 43He trusts in God. Let God deliver him now, if he wants him; for he said, ‘I am the Son of God.’” 44The robbers also who were crucified with him cast on him the same reproach. 45Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour. 46About the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, limasabachthani?” That is, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” 47Some of them who stood there, when they heard it, said, “This man is calling Elijah.” 48Immediately one of them ran, and took a sponge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him a drink. 49The rest said, “Let him be. Let’s see whether Elijah comes to save him.” 50Jesus cried again with a loud voice, and yielded up his spirit. 51Behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from the top to the bottom. The earth quaked and the rocks were split. 52The tombs were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; 53and coming out of the tombs after his resurrection, they entered into the holy city and appeared to many. 54Now the centurion, and those who were with him watching Jesus, when they saw the earthquake, and the things that were done, feared exceedingly, saying, “Truly this was the Son of God.” 55Many women were there watching from afar, who had followed Jesus from Galilee, serving him. 56Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of the sons of Zebedee. 57When evening had come, a rich man from Arimathaea, named Joseph, who himself was also Jesus’ disciple came. 58This man went to Pilate, and asked for Jesus’ body. Then Pilate commanded the body to be given up. 59Joseph took the body, and wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, 60and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had cut out in the rock, and he rolled a great stone to the door of the tomb, and departed. 61Mary Magdalene was there, and the other Mary, sitting opposite the tomb. 62Now on the next day, which was the day after the Preparation Day, the chief priests and the Pharisees were gathered together to Pilate, 63saying, “Sir, we remember what that deceiver said while he was still alive: ‘After three days I will rise again.’ 64Command therefore that the tomb be made secure until the third day, lest perhaps his disciples come at night and steal him away, and tell the people, ‘He is risen from the dead;’ and the last deception will be worse than the first.” 65Pilate said to them, “You have a guard. Go, make it as secure as you can.” 66So they went with the guard and made the tomb secure, sealing the stone.
1Als het nu morgenstond geworden was, hebben al de overpriesters en de ouderlingen des volks te zamen raad genomen tegen Jezus, dat zij Hem doden zouden. 2En Hem gebonden hebbende, leidden zij Hem weg, en gaven Hem over aan Pontius Pilatus, den stadhouder. 3Toen heeft Judas, dien Hem verraden had, ziende, dat Hij veroordeeld was, berouw gehad, en heeft de dertig zilveren penningen den overpriesters en den ouderlingen wedergebracht, 4Zeggende: Ik heb gezondigd, verradende het onschuldig bloed! Maar zij zeiden: Wat gaat ons dat aan? Gij moogt toezien. 5En als hij de zilveren penningen in den tempel geworpen had, vertrok hij, en heengaande verworgde zichzelven. 6En de overpriesters, de zilveren penningen nemende, zeiden: Het is niet geoorloofd, dezelve in de offerkist te leggen, dewijl het een prijs des bloeds is. 7En te zamen raad gehouden hebbende, kochten zij daarmede den akker des pottenbakkers, tot een begrafenis voor de vreemdelingen. 8Daarom is die akker genaamd de akker des bloeds, tot op den huidigen dag. 9Toen is vervuld geworden, hetgeen gesproken is door den profeet Jeremia, zeggende: En zij hebben de dertig zilveren penningen genomen, de waarde des Gewaardeerden van de kinderen Israels, Denwelken zij gewaardeerd hebben; 10En hebben dezelve gegeven voor den akker des pottenbakkers; volgens hetgeen mij de Heere bevolen heeft. 11En Jezus stond voor den stadhouder; en de stadhouder vraagde Hem, zeggende: Zijt Gij de Koning der Joden? En Jezus zeide tot hem: Gij zegt het. 12En als Hij van de overpriesters en de ouderlingen beschuldigd werd, antwoordde Hij niets. 13Toen zeide Pilatus tot Hem: Hoort Gij niet, hoevele zaken zij tegen U getuigen? 14Maar Hij antwoordde hem niet op een enig woord, alzo dat de stadhouder zich zeer verwonderde. 15En op het feest was de stadhouder gewoon den volke een gevangene los te laten, welke zij wilden. 16En zij hadden toen een welbekende gevangene, genaamd Bar-abbas. 17Als zij dan vergaderd waren, zeide Pilatus tot hen: Welken wilt gij, dat ik u zal loslaten, Bar-abbas, of Jezus, Die genaamd wordt Christus? 18Want hij wist, dat zij Hem door nijdigheid overgeleverd hadden. 19En als hij op de rechterstoel zat, zo heeft zijn huisvrouw tot hem gezonden, zeggende: Heb toch niet te doen met dien Rechtvaardige; want ik heb heden veel geleden in den droom om Zijnentwil. 20Maar de overpriesters en de ouderlingen hebben den scharen aangeraden, dat zij zouden Bar-abbas begeren, en Jezus doden. 21En de stadhouder, antwoordende, zeide tot hen: Welke van deze twee wilt gij, dat ik u zal loslaten? En zij zeiden: Bar-abbas. 22Pilatus zeide tot hen: Wat zal ik dan doen met Jezus, Die genaamd wordt Christus? Zij zeiden allen tot hem: Laat Hem gekruisigd worden. 23Doch de stadhouder zeide: Wat heeft Hij dan kwaads gedaan? En zij riepen te meer, zeggende: Laat Hem gekruisigd worden! 24Als nu Pilatus zag, dat hij niet vorderde, maar veel meer dat er oproer werd, nam hij water en wies de handen voor de schare, zeggende: Ik ben onschuldig aan het bloed dezes Rechtvaardigen; gijlieden moogt toezien. 25En al het volk, antwoordende, zeide: Zijn bloed kome over ons, en over onze kinderen. 26Toen liet hij hun Bar-abbas los, maar Jezus gegeseld hebbende, gaf hij Hem over om gekruisigd te worden. 27Toen namen de krijgsknechten des stadhouders Jezus met zich in het rechthuis, en vergaderden over Hem de ganse bende. 28En als zij Hem ontkleed hadden, deden zij Hem een purperen mantel om; 29En een kroon van doornen gevlochten hebbende, zetten die op Zijn hoofd, en een rietstok in Zijn rechter hand; en vallende op hun knieen voor Hem, bespotten zij Hem, zeggende: Wees gegroet, Gij Koning der Joden! 30En op Hem gespogen hebbende, namen zij de rietstok en sloegen op Zijn hoofd. 31En toen zij Hem bespot hadden, deden zij Hem den mantel af, en deden Hem Zijn klederen aan, en leidden Hem heen om te kruisigen. 32En uitgaande, vonden zij een man van Cyrene, met name Simon; deze dwongen zij, dat hij Zijn kruis droeg. 33En gekomen zijnde tot de plaats, genaamd Golgotha, welke is gezegd Hoofdschedelplaats, 34Gaven zij Hem te drinken edik met gal gemengd; en als Hij dien gesmaakt had, wilde Hij niet drinken. 35Toen zij nu Hem gekruisigd hadden, verdeelden zij Zijn klederen, het lot werpende; opdat vervuld zou worden, hetgeen gezegd is door den profeet: Zij hebben Mijn klederen onder zich verdeeld, en hebben het lot over Mijn kleding geworpen. 36En zij, nederzittende, bewaarden Hem aldaar. 37En zij stelden boven Zijn hoofd Zijn beschuldiging geschreven: DEZE Is JEZUS, De KONING DER JODEN. 38Toen werden met Hem twee moordenaars gekruisigd, een ter rechter-, en een ter linker zijde. 39En die voorbijgingen, lasterden Hem, schuddende hun hoofden, 40En zeggende: Gij, Die den tempel afbreekt, en in drie dagen opbouwt, verlos Uzelven. Indien Gij de Zone Gods zijt, zo kom af van het kruis. 41En desgelijks ook de overpriesters met de Schriftgeleerden, en ouderlingen, en Farizeen, Hem bespottende, zeiden: 42Anderen heeft Hij verlost, Hij kan Zichzelven niet verlossen. Indien Hij de Koning Israels is, dat Hij nu afkome van het kruis, en wij zullen Hem geloven. 43Hij heeft op God betrouwd; dat Hij Hem nu verlosse, indien Hij Hem wel wil; want Hij heeft gezegd: Ik ben Gods Zoon. 44En hetzelfde verweten Hem ook de moordenaars, die met Hem gekruisigd waren. 45En van de zesde ure aan werd er duisternis over de gehele aarde, tot de negende ure toe. 46En omtrent de negende ure riep Jezus met een grote stem zeggende: ELI, ELI, LAMA SABACHTHANI! dat is: Mijn God! Mijn God! Waarom hebt Gij Mij verlaten! 47En sommigen van die daar stonden, zulks horende, zeiden: Deze roept Elias. 48En terstond een van hen toe lopende, nam een spons, en die met edik gevuld hebbende, stak ze op een rietstok, en gaf Hem te drinken. 49Doch de anderen zeiden: Houd op, laat ons zien, of Elias komt, om Hem te verlossen. 50En Jezus, wederom met een grote stem roepende, gaf den geest. 51En ziet, het voorhangsel des tempels scheurde in tweeen, van boven tot beneden; en de aarde beefde, en de steenrotsen scheurden. 52En de graven werden geopend, en vele lichamen der heiligen, die ontslapen waren, werden opgewekt; 53En uit de graven uitgegaan zijnde, na Zijn opstanding, kwamen zij in de heilige stad, en zijn velen verschenen. 54En de hoofdman over honderd, en die met hem Jezus bewaarden, ziende de aardbeving, en de dingen, die geschied waren, werden zeer bevreesd, zeggende: Waarlijk, Deze was Gods Zoon! 55En aldaar waren vele vrouwen, van verre aanschouwende, die Jezus gevolgd waren van Galilea, om Hem te dienen. 56Onder dewelke was Maria Magdalena, en Maria, de moeder van Jakobus en Joses, en de moeder der zonen van Zebedeus. 57En als het avond geworden was, kwam een rijk man van Arimathea, met name Jozef, die ook zelf een discipel van Jezus was. 58Deze kwam tot Pilatus, en begeerde het lichaam van Jezus. Toen beval Pilatus, dat hem het lichaam gegeven zou worden. 59En Jozef, het lichaam nemende, wond hetzelve in een zuiver fijn lijnwaad. 60En legde dat in zijn nieuw graf, hetwelk hij in een steenrots uitgehouwen had; en een grote steen tegen de deur des grafs gewenteld hebbende, ging hij weg. 61En aldaar was Maria Magdalena, en de andere Maria, zittende tegenover het graf. 62Des anderen daags nu, welke is na de voorbereiding, vergaderden de overpriesters en de Farizeen tot Pilatus, 63Zeggende: Heer, wij zijn indachtig, dat deze verleider, nog levende, gezegd heeft: Na drie dagen zal Ik opstaan. 64Beveel dan, dat het graf verzekerd worde tot den derden dag toe, opdat Zijn discipelen misschien niet komen bij nacht, en stelen Hem, en zeggen tot het volk: Hij is opgestaan van de doden; en zo zal de laatste dwaling erger zijn, dan de eerste. 65En Pilatus zeide tot henlieden: Gij hebt een wacht; gaat heen, verzekert het, gelijk gij het verstaat. 66En zij heengaande, verzekerden het graf met de wacht, den steen verzegeld hebbende.
