1ENTONCES llamando á sus doce discípulos, les dió potestad contra los espíritus inmundos, para que los echasen fuera, y sanasen toda enfermedad y toda dolencia. 2Y los nombres de los doce apóstoles son estos: el primero, Simón, que es dicho Pedro, y Andrés su hermano; Jacobo, hijo de Zebedeo, y Juan su hermano; 3Felipe, y Bartolomé; Tomás, y Mateo el publicano; Jacobo hijo de Alfeo, y Lebeo, por sobrenombre Tadeo; 4Simón el Cananita y Judas Iscariote, que también le entregó. 5A estos doce envió Jesús, á los cuales dió mandamiento, diciendo: Por el camino de los Gentiles no iréis, y en ciudad de Samaritanos no entréis; 6Mas id antes á las ovejas perdidas de la casa de Israel. 7Y yendo, predicad, diciendo: El reino de los cielos se ha acercado. 8Sanad enfermos, limpiad leprosos, resucitad muertos, echad fuera demonios: de gracia recibisteis, dad de gracia. 9No aprestéis oro, ni plata, ni cobre en vuestras bolsas; 10Ni alforja para el camino, ni dos ropas de vestir, ni zapatos, ni bordón; porque el obrero digno es de su alimento. 11Mas en cualquier ciudad, ó aldea donde entrareis, investigad quién sea en ella digno, y reposad allí hasta que salgáis. 12Y entrando en la casa, saludadla. 13Y si la casa fuere digna, vuestra paz vendrá sobre ella; mas si no fuere digna, vuestra paz se volverá á vosotros. 14Y cualquiera que no os recibiere, ni oyere vuestras palabras, salid de aquella casa ó ciudad, y sacudid el polvo de vuestros pies. 15De cierto os digo, que el castigo será más tolerable á la tierra de los de Sodoma y de los de Gomorra en el día del juicio, que á aquella ciudad. 16He aquí, yo os envío como á ovejas en medio de lobos: sed pues prudentes como serpientes, y sencillos como palomas. 17Y guardaos de los hombres: porque os entregarán en concilios, y en sus sinagogas os azotarán; 18Y aun á príncipes y á reyes seréis llevados por causa de mí, por testimonio á ellos y á los Gentiles. 19Mas cuando os entregaren, no os apuréis por cómo ó qué hablaréis; porque en aquella hora os será dado qué habéis de hablar. 20Porque no sois vosotros los que habláis, sino el Espíritu de vuestro Padre que habla en vosotros. 21Y el hermano entregará al hermano á la muerte, y el padre al hijo; y los hijos se levantarán contra los padres, y los harán morir. 22Y seréis aborrecidos de todos por mi nombre; mas el que soportare hasta el fin, éste será salvo. 23Mas cuando os persiguieren en esta ciudad, huid á la otra: porque de cierto os digo, que no acabaréis de andar todas las ciudades de Israel, que no venga el Hijo del hombre. 24El discípulo no es más que su maestro, ni el siervo más que su señor. 25Bástale al discípulo ser como su maestro, y al siervo como su señor. Si al padre de la familia llamaron Beelzebub, ¿cuánto más á los de su casa? 26Así que, no los temáis; porque nada hay encubierto, que no haya de ser manifestado; ni oculto, que no haya de saberse. 27Lo que os digo en tinieblas, decidlo en la luz; y lo que oís al oído predicadlo desde los terrados. 28Y no temáis á los que matan el cuerpo, mas al alma no pueden matar: temed antes á aquel que puede destruir el alma y el cuerpo en el infierno. 29¿No se venden dos pajarillos por un cuarto? Con todo, ni uno de ellos cae á tierra sin vuestro Padre. 30Pues aun vuestros cabellos están todos contados. 31Así que, no temáis: más valéis vosotros que muchos pajarillos. 32Cualquiera pues, que me confesare delante de los hombres, le confesaré yo también delante de mi Padre que está en los cielos. 33Y cualquiera que me negare delante de los hombres, le negaré yo también delante de mi Padre que está en los cielos. 34No penséis que he venido para meter paz en la tierra: no he venido para meter paz, sino espada. 35Porque he venido para hacer disensión del hombre contra su padre, y de la hija contra su madre, y de la nuera contra su suegra. 36Y los enemigos del hombre serán los de su casa. 37El que ama padre ó madre más que á mí, no es digno de mí; y el que ama hijo ó hija más que á mí, no es digno de mí. 38Y el que no toma su cruz, y sigue en pos de mí, no es digno de mí. 39El que hallare su vida, la perderá; y el que perdiere su vida por causa de mí, la hallará. 40El que os recibe á vosotros, á mí recibe; y el que á mí recibe, recibe al que me envió. 41El que recibe profeta en nombre de profeta, merced de profeta recibirá; y el que recibe justo en nombre de justo, merced de justo recibirá. 42Y cualquiera que diere á uno de estos pequeñitos un vaso de agua fría solamente, en nombre de discípulo, de cierto os digo, que no perderá su recompensa.
1He called to himself his twelve disciples, and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every sickness. 2Now the names of the twelve apostles are these. The first, Simon, who is called Peter; Andrew, his brother; James the son of Zebedee; John, his brother; 3Philip; Bartholomew; Thomas; Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus; Lebbaeus, who was also called Thaddaeus; 4Simon the Canaanite; and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him. 5Jesus sent these twelve out, and commanded them, saying, “Don’t go among the Gentiles, and don’t enter into any city of the Samaritans. 6Rather, go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 7As you go, preach, saying, ‘The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!’ 8Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, and cast out demons. Freely you received, so freely give. 9Don’t take any gold, nor silver, nor brass in your money belts. 10Take no bag for your journey, neither two coats, nor shoes, nor staff: for the laborer is worthy of his food. 11Into whatever city or village you enter, find out who in it is worthy; and stay there until you go on. 12As you enter into the household, greet it. 13If the household is worthy, let your peace come on it, but if it isn’t worthy, let your peace return to you. 14Whoever doesn’t receive you, nor hear your words, as you go out of that house or that city, shake off the dust from your feet. 15Most certainly I tell you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city. 16“Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. 17But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to councils, and in their synagogues they will scourge you. 18Yes, and you will be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony to them and to the nations. 19But when they deliver you up, don’t be anxious how or what you will say, for it will be given you in that hour what you will say. 20For it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you. 21“Brother will deliver up brother to death, and the father his child. Children will rise up against parents, and cause them to be put to death. 22You will be hated by all men for my name’s sake, but he who endures to the end will be saved. 23But when they persecute you in this city, flee into the next, for most certainly I tell you, you will not have gone through the cities of Israel, until the Son of Man has come. 24“A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his lord. 25It is enough for the disciple that he be like his teacher, and the servant like his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more those of his household! 26Therefore don’t be afraid of them, for there is nothing covered that will not be revealed; and hidden that will not be known. 27What I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light; and what you hear whispered in the ear, proclaim on the housetops. 28Don’t be afraid of those who kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul. Rather, fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in Gehenna. 29“Aren’t two sparrows sold for an assarion coin? Not one of them falls on the ground apart from your Father’s will, 30but the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31Therefore don’t be afraid. You are of more value than many sparrows. 32Everyone therefore who confesses me before men, him I will also confess before my Father who is in heaven. 33But whoever denies me before men, him I will also deny before my Father who is in heaven. 34“Don’t think that I came to send peace on the earth. I didn’t come to send peace, but a sword. 35For I came to set a man at odds against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. 36A man’s foes will be those of his own household. 37He who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he who loves son or daughter more than me isn’t worthy of me. 38He who doesn’t take his cross and follow after me, isn’t worthy of me. 39He who seeks his life will lose it; and he who loses his life for my sake will find it. 40He who receives you receives me, and he who receives me receives him who sent me. 41He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward. He who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man will receive a righteous man’s reward. 42Whoever gives one of these little ones just a cup of cold water to drink in the name of a disciple, most certainly I tell you he will in no way lose his reward.”
1En Zijn twaalf discipelen tot Zich geroepen hebbende, heeft Hij hun macht gegeven over de onreine geesten, om dezelve uit te werpen, en om alle ziekte en alle kwaal te genezen. 2De namen nu der twaalf apostelen zijn deze: de eerste, Simon, gezegd Petrus, en Andreas, zijn broeder; Jakobus, de zoon van Zebedeus, en Johannes, zijn broeder; 3Filippus en Bartholomeus; Thomas en Mattheus, de tollenaar; Jakobus, de zoon van Alfeus, en Lebbeus, toegenaamd Thaddeus; 4Simon Kananites, en Judas Iskariot, die Hem ook verraden heeft. 5Deze twaalf heeft Jezus uitgezonden, en hun bevel gegeven, zeggende: Gij zult niet heengaan op den weg der heidenen, en gij zult niet ingaan in enige stad der Samaritanen. 6Maar gaat veel meer heen tot de verloren schapen van het huis Israels. 7En heengaande predikt, zeggende: Het Koninkrijk der hemelen is nabij gekomen. 8Geneest de kranken; reinigt de melaatsen; wekt de doden op; werpt de duivelen uit. Gij hebt het om niet ontvangen, geeft het om niet. 9Verkrijgt u noch goud, noch zilver, noch koper geld in uw gordels; 10Noch male tot den weg, noch twee rokken, noch schoenen, noch staf; want de arbeider is zijn voedsel waardig. 11En in wat stad of vlek gij zult inkomen, onderzoekt, wie daarin waardig is; en blijft aldaar, totdat gij daar uitgaat. 12En als gij in het huis gaat, zo groet hetzelve. 13En indien dat huis waardig is, zo kome uw vrede over hetzelve, maar indien het niet waardig is, zo kere uw vrede weder tot u. 14En zo iemand u niet zal ontvangen, noch uw woorden horen, uitgaande uit dat huis of uit dezelve stad, schudt het stof uwer voeten af. 15Voorwaar zeg Ik u: Het zal den lande van Sodom en Gomorra verdragelijker zijn in den dag des oordeels, dan dezelve stad. 16Ziet, Ik zend u als schapen in het midden der wolven; zijt dan voorzichtig gelijk de slangen, en oprecht gelijk de duiven. 17Maar wacht u voor de mensen; want zij zullen u overleveren in de raadsvergaderingen, en in hun synagogen zullen zij u geselen. 18En gij zult ook voor stadhouders en koningen geleid worden, om Mijnentwil, hun en den heidenen tot getuigenis. 19Doch wanneer zij u overleveren, zo zult gij niet bezorgd zijn, hoe of wat gij spreken zult; want het zal u in dezelve ure gegeven worden, wat gij spreken zult. 20Want gij zijt het niet, die spreekt, maar het is de Geest uws Vaders, Die in u spreekt. 21En de ene broeder zal den anderen broeder overleveren tot den dood, en de vader het kind, en de kinderen zullen opstaan tegen de ouders, en zullen hen doden. 22En gij zult van allen gehaat worden om Mijn Naam; maar die volstandig zal blijven tot het einde, die zal zalig worden. 23Wanneer zij u dan in deze stad vervolgen, vliedt in de andere; want voorwaar zeg ik u: Gij zult uw reis door de steden Israels niet geeindigd hebben, of de Zoon des mensen zal gekomen zijn. 24De discipel is niet boven den meester, noch de dienstknecht boven zijn heer. 25Het zij den discipel genoeg, dat hij worde gelijk zijn meester, en de dienstknecht gelijk zijn heer. Indien zij den Heere des huizes Beelzebul hebben geheten, hoeveel te meer Zijn huisgenoten! 26Vreest dan hen niet; want er is niets bedekt, hetwelk niet zal ontdekt worden, en verborgen, hetwelk niet zal geweten worden. 27Hetgeen Ik u zeg in de duisternis, zegt het in het licht; en hetgeen gij hoort in het oor, predikt dat op de daken. 28En vreest niet voor degenen, die het lichaam doden, en de ziel niet kunnen doden; maar vreest veel meer Hem, Die beide ziel en lichaam kan verderven in de hel. 29Worden niet twee musjes om een penningsken verkocht? En niet een van deze zal op de aarde vallen zonder uw Vader. 30En ook uw haren des hoofds zijn alle geteld. 31Vreest dan niet; gij gaat vele musjes te boven. 32Een iegelijk dan, die Mij belijden zal voor de mensen, dien zal Ik ook belijden voor Mijn Vader, Die in de hemelen is. 33Maar zo wie Mij verloochend zal hebben voor de mensen, dien zal Ik ook verloochenen voor Mijn Vader, Die in de hemelen is. 34Meent niet, dat Ik gekomen ben, om vrede te brengen op de aarde; Ik ben niet gekomen om vrede te brengen, maar het zwaard. 35Want Ik ben gekomen, om den mens tweedrachtig te maken tegen zijn vader, en de dochter tegen haar moeder, en de schoondochter tegen haar schoonmoeder. 36En zij zullen des mensen vijanden worden, die zijn huisgenoten zijn. 37Die vader of moeder liefheeft boven Mij, is Mijns niet waardig; en die zoon of dochter liefheeft boven Mij, is Mijns niet waardig. 38En die zijn kruis niet op zich neemt, en Mij navolgt, is Mijns niet waardig. 39Die zijn ziel vindt, zal dezelve verliezen; en die zijn ziel zal verloren hebben om Mijnentwil, zal dezelve vinden. 40Die u ontvangt, ontvangt Mij; en die Mij ontvangt, ontvangt Hem, Die Mij gezonden heeft. 41Die een profeet ontvangt in den naam eens profeten, zal het loon eens profeten ontvangen; en die een rechtvaardige ontvangt in den naam eens rechtvaardigen, zal het loon eens rechtvaardigen ontvangen. 42En zo wie een van deze kleinen te drinken geeft alleenlijk een beker koud water, in den naam eens discipels, voorwaar zeg Ik u, hij zal zijn loon geenszins verliezen.
