1EN el año diecisiete de Peka hijo de Remalías, comenzó á reinar Achâz hijo de Jotham rey de Judá. 2Cuando comenzó á reinar Achâz, era de veinte años, y reinó en Jerusalem dieciséis años: y no hizo lo recto en ojos de Jehová su Dios, como David su padre; 3Antes anduvo en el camino de los reyes de Israel, y aun hizo pasar por el fuego á su hijo, según las abominaciones de las gentes que Jehová echó de delante de los hijos de Israel. 4Asimismo sacrificó, y quemó perfumes en los altos, y sobre los collados, y debajo de todo árbol umbroso. 5Entonces Resín rey de Siria, y Peka hijo de Remalías rey de Israel, subieron á Jerusalem para hacer guerra, y cercar á Achâz; mas no pudieron tomarla. 6En aquel tiempo Resín rey de Siria restituyó Elath á Siria, y echó á los Judíos de Elath; y los Siros vinieron á Elath, y habitaron allí hasta hoy. 7Entonces Achâz envió embajadores á Tiglath-pileser rey de Asiria, diciendo: Yo soy tu siervo y tu hijo: sube, y defiéndeme de mano del rey de Siria, y de mano del rey de Israel, que se han levantado contra mí. 8Y tomando Achâz la plata y el oro que se halló en la casa de Jehová, y en los tesoros de la casa real, envió al rey de Asiria un presente. 9Y atendióle el rey de Asiria; pues subió el rey de Asiria contra Damasco, y tomóla, y trasportó los moradores á Kir, y mató á Resín. 10Y fué el rey Achâz á encontrar á Tiglath-pileser rey de Asiria en Damasco; y visto que hubo el rey Achâz el altar que estaba en Damasco, envió á Urías sacerdote el diseño y la descripción del altar, conforme á toda su hechura. 11Y Urías el sacerdote edificó el altar; conforme á todo lo que el rey Achâz había enviado de Damasco, así lo hizo el sacerdote Urías, entre tanto que el rey Achâz venía de Damasco. 12Y luego que vino el rey de Damasco, y hubo visto el altar, acercóse el rey á él, y sacrificó en él; 13Y encendió su holocausto, y su presente, y derramó sus libaciones, y esparció la sangre de sus pacíficos junto al altar. 14Y el altar de bronce que estaba delante de Jehová, hízolo acercar delante de la frontera de la casa, entre el altar y el templo de Jehová, y púsolo al lado del altar hacia el aquilón. 15Y mandó el rey Achâz al sacerdote Urías, diciendo: En el gran altar encenderás el holocausto de la mañana y el presente de la tarde, y el holocausto del rey y su presente, y asimismo el holocausto de todo el pueblo de la tierra y su presente y sus libaciones: y esparcirás sobre él toda la sangre de holocausto, y toda la sangre de sacrificio: y el altar de bronce será mío para preguntar en él. 16E hizo el sacerdote Urías conforme á todas las cosas que el rey Achâz le mandó. 17Y cortó el rey Achâz las cintas de las basas, y quitóles las fuentes; quitó también el mar de sobre los bueyes de bronce que estaban debajo de él, y púsolo sobre el solado de piedra. 18Asimismo la tienda del sábado que habían edificado en la casa, y el pasadizo de afuera del rey, mudólos del templo de Jehová, por causa del rey de Asiria. 19Lo demás de los hechos de Achâz que puso por obra, ¿no está todo escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá? 20Y durmió el rey Achâz con sus padres y fué sepultado con sus padres en la ciudad de David: y reinó en su lugar Ezechîas su hijo.
1In the seventeenth year of Pekah the son of Remaliah Ahaz the son of Jotham king of Judah began to reign. 2Twenty years old was Ahaz when he began to reign; and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: and he didn’t do that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh his God, like David his father. 3But he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, yes, and made his son to pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the nations, whom Yahweh cast out from before the children of Israel. 4He sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree. 5Then Rezin king of Syria and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel came up to Jerusalem to war: and they besieged Ahaz, but could not overcome him. 6At that time Rezin king of Syria recovered Elath to Syria, and drove the Jews from Elath; and the Syrians came to Elath, and lived there, to this day. 7So Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglath Pileser king of Assyria, saying, “I am your servant and your son. Come up, and save me out of the hand of the king of Syria, and out of the hand of the king of Israel, who rise up against me.” 8Ahaz took the silver and gold that was found in Yahweh’s house, and in the treasures of the king’s house, and sent it for a present to the king of Assyria. 9The king of Assyria listened to him; and the king of Assyria went up against Damascus, and took it, and carried its people captive to Kir, and killed Rezin. 10King Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath Pileser king of Assyria, and saw the altar that was at Damascus; and king Ahaz sent to Urijah the priest the fashion of the altar, and its pattern, according to all its workmanship. 11Urijah the priest built an altar: according to all that king Ahaz had sent from Damascus, so Urijah the priest made it for the coming of king Ahaz from Damascus. 12When the king had come from Damascus, the king saw the altar: and the king drew near to the altar, and offered on it. 13He burnt his burnt offering and his meal offering, and poured his drink offering, and sprinkled the blood of his peace offerings, on the altar. 14The bronze altar, which was before Yahweh, he brought from the forefront of the house, from between his altar and Yahweh’s house, and put it on the north side of his altar. 15King Ahaz commanded Urijah the priest, saying, “On the great altar burn the morning burnt offering, and the evening meal offering, and the king’s burnt offering, and his meal offering, with the burnt offering of all the people of the land, and their meal offering, and their drink offerings; and sprinkle on it all the blood of the burnt offering, and all the blood of the sacrifice; but the bronze altar shall be for me to inquire by.” 16Urijah the priest did so, according to all that king Ahaz commanded. 17King Ahaz cut off the panels of the bases, and removed the basin from off them, and took down the sea from off the bronze oxen that were under it, and put it on a pavement of stone. 18The covered way for the Sabbath that they had built in the house, and the king’s entry outside, he turned to Yahweh’s house, because of the king of Assyria. 19Now the rest of the acts of Ahaz which he did, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? 20Ahaz slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and Hezekiah his son reigned in his place.
1In het zeventiende jaar van Pekah, den zoon van Remalia, werd Achaz koning, de zoon van Jotham, den koning van Juda. 2Twintig jaren was Achaz oud, toen hij koning werd, en hij regeerde zestien jaren te Jeruzalem; en hij deed niet dat recht was in de ogen des HEEREN zijns Gods, als zijn vader David. 3Want hij wandelde in den weg der koningen van Israel; ja, hij deed ook zijn zoon door het vuur gaan, naar de gruwelen der heidenen, die de HEERE voor de kinderen Israels verdreven had. 4Hij offerde ook en rookte op de hoogten en op de heuvelen, ook onder alle groen geboomte. 5Toen toog Rezin, de koning van Syrie, op, met Pekah, den zoon van Remalia, den koning van Israel, naar Jeruzalem ten strijde; en zij belegerden Achaz, maar zij vermochten niet met strijden. 6Te dierzelfder tijd bracht Rezin, de koning van Syrie, Elath weder aan Syrie, en wierp de Joden uit Elath; en de Syriers kwamen te Elath, en hebben daar gewoond tot op dezen dag. 7Achaz nu zond boden tot Tiglath-Pilezer, den koning van Assyrie, zeggende: Ik ben uw knecht en uw zoon; kom op, en verlos mij uit de hand van den koning van Syrie, en uit de hand van den koning van Israel, die zich tegen mij opmaken. 8En Achaz nam het zilver en het goud, dat in het huis des HEEREN, en in de schatten van het huis des konings gevonden werd, en hij zond den koning van Assyrie een geschenk. 9Zo hoorde de koning van Assyrie naar hem; want de koning van Assyrie toog op tegen Damaskus, en nam haar in, en voerde hen gevankelijk naar Kir, en hij doodde Rezin. 10Toen toog de koning Achaz Tiglath-Pilezer, den koning van Assyrie, tegemoet, naar Damaskus; en gezien hebbende een altaar, dat te Damaskus was, zo zond de koning Achaz aan den priester Uria de gelijkenis van het altaar, en zijn afbeelding, naar zijn ganse maaksel. 11En Uria, de priester, bouwde een altaar, naar alles, wat de koning Achaz van Damaskus ontboden had; alzo deed de priester Uria, tegen dat de koning Achaz van Damaskus kwam. 12Als nu de koning van Damaskus gekomen was, zag de koning het altaar; en de koning naderde tot het altaar, en offerde daarop. 13En hij stak zijn brandoffer aan, en zijn spijsoffer, en goot zijn drankoffer en sprengde het bloed zijner dankofferen op dat altaar. 14Maar het koperen altaar, dat voor het aangezicht des HEEREN was, dat bracht hij van het voorste deel van het huis, van tussen zijn altaar, en van tussen het huis des HEEREN, en hij zette het aan de zijde zijns altaars noordwaarts. 15En de koning Achaz gebood Uria, den priester, zeggende: Steek op het grote altaar aan het morgenbrandoffer, en het avondspijsoffer, en des konings brandoffer, en zijn spijsoffer, en het brandoffer van al het volk des lands, en hun spijsoffer, en hun drankofferen; en spreng daarop al het bloed des brandoffers, en al het bloed des slachtoffer; maar het koperen altaar zal mij zijn, om te onderzoeken. 16En Uria, de priester, deed naar alles, wat de koning Achaz geboden had. 17En de koning Achaz sneed de lijsten der stellingen af, en nam die van boven het wasvat weg, en deed de zee af van de koperen runderen, die daaronder waren; en hij zette die op een stenen vloer. 18Daartoe het deksel des sabbats, dat zij in het huis gebouwd hadden, en den buitensten ingang des konings nam hij weg van het huis des HEEREN, vanwege den koning van Assyrie. 19Het overige nu der geschiedenissen van Achaz, wat hij gedaan heeft, is dat niet geschreven in het boek der kronieken der koningen van Juda? 20En Achaz ontsliep met zijn vaderen, en werd begraven bij zijn vaderen, in de stad Davids; en Hizkia, zijn zoon, werd koning in zijn plaats.
