1Y ATHALÍA madre de Ochôzías, viendo que su hijo era muerto, levantóse, y destruyó toda la simiente real. 2Pero tomando Josaba hija del rey Joram, hermana de Ochôzías, á Joas hijo de Ochôzías, sacólo furtivamente de entre los hijos del rey, que se mataban, y ocultólo de delante de Athalía, á él y á su ama, en la cámara de las camas, y así no lo mataron. 3Y estuvo con ella escondido en la casa de Jehová seis años: y Athalía fué reina sobre el país. 4Mas al séptimo año envió Joiada, y tomó centuriones, capitanes, y gente de la guardia, y metiólos consigo en la casa de Jehová: é hizo con ellos liga, juramentándolos en la casa de Jehová; y mostróles al hijo del rey. 5Y mandóles, diciendo: Esto es lo que habéis de hacer: la tercera parte de vosotros, los que entrarán el sábado, tendrán la guardia de la casa del rey; 6Y la otra tercera parte estará á la puerta del sur, y la otra tercera parte á la puerta del postigo de los de la guardia: así guardaréis la casa, para que no sea allanada. 7Y las dos partes de vosotros, es á saber, todos los que salen el sábado, tendréis la guarda de la casa de Jehová junto al rey. 8Y estaréis alrededor del rey de todas partes, teniendo cada uno sus armas en las manos, y cualquiera que entrare dentro de estos órdenes, sea muerto. Y habéis de estar con el rey cuando saliere, y cuando entrare. 9Los centuriones pues, hicieron todo como el sacerdote Joiada les mandó: y tomando cada uno los suyos, es á saber, los que habían de entrar el sábado, y los que habían salido el sábado, viniéronse á Joiada el sacerdote. 10Y el sacerdote dió á los centuriones las picas y los escudos que habían sido del rey David, que estaban en la casa de Jehová. 11Y los de la guardia se pusieron en orden, teniendo cada uno sus armas en sus manos, desde el lado derecho de la casa hasta el lado izquierdo, junto al altar y el templo, en derredor del rey. 12Sacando luego Joiada al hijo del rey, púsole la corona y el testimonio, é hiciéronle rey ungiéndole; y batiendo las manos dijeron: ¡Viva el rey! 13Y oyendo Athalía el estruendo del pueblo que corría, entró al pueblo en el templo de Jehová; 14Y como miró, he aquí el rey que estaba junto á la columna, conforme á la costumbre, y los príncipes y los trompetas junto al rey; y que todo el pueblo del país hacía alegrías, y que tocaban las trompetas. Entonces Athalía, rasgando sus vestidos, clamó á voz en grito: ¡Traición, traición! 15Mas el sacerdote Joiada mandó á los centuriones que gobernaban el ejército, y díjoles: Sacadla fuera del recinto del templo, y al que la siguiere, matadlo á cuchillo. (Porque el sacerdote dijo que no la matasen en el templo de Jehová.) 16Diéronle pues lugar, y como iba el camino por donde entran los de á caballo á la casa del rey, allí la mataron. 17Entonces Joiada hizo alianza entre Jehová y el rey y el pueblo, que serían pueblo de Jehová: y asimismo entre el rey y el pueblo. 18Y todo el pueblo de la tierra entró en el templo de Baal, y derribáronlo: asimismo despedazaron enteramente sus altares y sus imágenes, y mataron á Mathán sacerdote de Baal delante de los altares. Y el sacerdote puso guarnición sobre la casa de Jehová. 19Después tomó los centuriones, y capitanes, y los de la guardia, y á todo el pueblo de la tierra, y llevaron al rey desde la casa de Jehová, y vinieron por el camino de la puerta de los de la guardia á la casa del rey; y sentóse el rey sobre el trono de los reyes. 20Y todo el pueblo de la tierra hizo alegrías, y la ciudad estuvo en reposo, habiendo sido Athalía muerta á cuchillo junto á la casa del rey. 21Era Joas de siete años cuando comenzó á reinar.
1Now when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the seed royal. 2But Jehosheba, the daughter of king Joram, sister of Ahaziah, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him away from among the king’s sons who were slain, even him and his nurse, and put them in the bedroom; and they hid him from Athaliah, so that he was not slain; 3He was with her hidden in Yahweh’s house six years. Athaliah reigned over the land. 4In the seventh year Jehoiada sent and fetched the captains over hundreds of the Carites and of the guard, and brought them to him into Yahweh’s house; and he made a covenant with them, and took an oath of them in Yahweh’s house, and showed them the king’s son. 5He commanded them, saying, “This is the thing that you shall do: a third part of you, who come in on the Sabbath, shall be keepers of the watch of the king’s house; 6A third part shall be at the gate Sur; and a third part at the gate behind the guard. So you shall keep the watch of the house, and be a barrier. 7The two companies of you, even all who go out on the Sabbath, shall keep the watch of Yahweh’s house around the king. 8You shall surround the king, every man with his weapons in his hand; and he who comes within the ranks, let him be slain. Be with the king when he goes out, and when he comes in.” 9The captains over hundreds did according to all that Jehoiada the priest commanded; and they took every man his men, those who were to come in on the Sabbath, with those who were to go out on the Sabbath, and came to Jehoiada the priest. 10The priest delivered to the captains over hundreds the spears and shields that had been king David’s, which were in Yahweh’s house. 11The guard stood, every man with his weapons in his hand, from the right side of the house to the left side of the house, along by the altar and the house, around the king. 12Then he brought out the king’s son, and put the crown on him, and gave him the testimony; and they made him king, and anointed him; and they clapped their hands, and said, “Long live the king!” 13When Athaliah heard the noise of the guard and of the people, she came to the people into Yahweh’s house: 14and she looked, and behold, the king stood by the pillar, as the tradition was, and the captains and the trumpets by the king; and all the people of the land rejoiced, and blew trumpets. Then Athaliah tore her clothes, and cried, “Treason! Treason!” 15Jehoiada the priest commanded the captains of hundreds who were set over the army, and said to them, “Bring her out between the ranks. Kill him who follows her with the sword.” For the priest said, “Don’t let her be slain in Yahweh’s house.” 16So they made way for her; and she went by the way of the horses’ entry to the king’s house. She was slain there. 17Jehoiada made a covenant between Yahweh and the king and the people, that they should be Yahweh’s people; between the king also and the people. 18All the people of the land went to the house of Baal, and broke it down; his altars and his images broke they in pieces thoroughly, and killed Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. The priest appointed officers over Yahweh’s house. 19He took the captains over hundreds, and the Carites, and the guard, and all the people of the land; and they brought down the king from Yahweh’s house, and came by the way of the gate of the guard to the king’s house. He sat on the throne of the kings. 20So all the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was quiet. Athaliah they had slain with the sword at the king’s house. 21Jehoash was seven years old when he began to reign.
1Toen nu Athalia, de moeder van Ahazia, zag, dat haar zoon dood was, zo maakte zij zich op, en bracht al het koninklijke zaad om. 2Maar Joseba, de dochter van den koning Joram, de zuster van Ahazia, nam Joas, den zoon van Ahazia, en stal hem uit het midden van des konings zonen, die gedood werden, zettende hem en zijn voedster in een slaapkamer; en zij verborgen hem voor Athalia, dat hij niet gedood werd. 3En hij was met haar verstoken in het huis des HEEREN zes jaren; en Athalia regeerde over het land. 4In het zevende jaar nu zond Jojada, en nam de oversten van honderd met de hoofdmannen, en met de trawanten, en hij bracht hen tot zich, in het huis des HEEREN; en hij maakte een verbond met hen, en hij beedigde hen in het huis des HEEREN, en hij toonde hun den zoon des konings. 5En hij gebood hun, zeggende: Dit is de zaak, die gij doen zult: een derde deel van u, die op den sabbat ingaan, zullen de wacht waarnemen van het huis des konings; 6En een derde deel zal zijn aan de poort Sur; en een derde deel aan de poort achter de trawanten; zo zult gij waarnemen de wacht van dit huis, tegen inbreking. 7En de twee delen van ulieden, allen, die op den sabbat uitgaan, zullen de wacht van het huis des HEEREN waarnemen bij den koning. 8En gij zult den koning rondom omsingelen, een ieder met zijn wapenen in zijn hand, en hij, die tussen de ordeningen intreedt, zal gedood worden; en zijt gij bij den koning, als hij uitgaat, en als hij inkomt. 9De oversten dan van honderd deden naar al wat de priester Jojada geboden had, en namen ieder zijn mannen, die op den sabbat ingingen, met degenen, die op den sabbat uitgingen; en zij kwamen tot den priester Jojada. 10En de priester gaf aan de oversten van honderd de spiesen en de schilden, die van den koning David geweest waren, die in het huis des HEEREN geweest waren. 11En de trawanten stonden, ieder met zijn wapenen in zijn hand, van de rechterzijde van het huis, tot de linkerzijde van het huis, naar het altaar en naar het huis toe, bij den koning rondom. 12Daarna bracht hij des konings zoon voor, en zette hem de kroon op, en gaf hem de getuigenis; en zij maakten hem koning, en zalfden hem; daartoe klapten zij met de handen, en zeiden: De koning leve! 13Toen Athalia hoorde de stem der trawanten en des volks, zo kwam zij tot het volk in het huis des HEEREN. 14En zij zag toe, en ziet, de koning stond bij den pilaar, naar de wijze, en de oversten en de trompetten bij den koning; en al het volk des lands was blijde, en blies met trompetten. Toen verscheurde Athalia haar klederen, en zij riep: Verraad, verraad! 15Maar de priester Jojada gebood aan de oversten van honderd, die over het heir gesteld waren, en zeide tot hen: Brengt haar uit tot buiten de ordeningen, en doodt, wie haar volgt, met het zwaard; want de priester had gezegd: Laat ze in het huis des HEEREN niet gedood worden. 16En zij legden de handen aan haar; en zij ging den weg van den ingang der paarden naar het huis des konings, en zij werd daar gedood. 17En Jojada maakte een verbond tussen den HEERE en tussen den koning, en tussen het volk, dat het den HEERE tot een volk zou zijn; mitsgaders tussen de koning en tussen het volk. 18Daarna ging al het volk des lands in het huis van Baal, en braken dat af; zijn altaren en zijn beelden verbraken zij recht wel; en Mattan, den priester van Baal, sloegen zij dood voor de altaren. De priester nu bestelde de ambten in het huis des HEEREN. 19En hij nam de oversten van honderd, en de hoofdmannen, en de trawanten, en al het volk des lands; en zij brachten den koning af uit het huis des HEEREN, en kwamen door den weg van de poort der trawanten tot het huis des konings, en hij zat op den troon der koningen. 20En al het volk des lands was blijde, en de stad werd stil, nadat zij Athalia met het zwaard gedood hadden bij des konings huis. 21Joas was zeven jaren oud, toen hij koning werd.
