1EMPERO el rey Salomón amó, á más de la hija de Faraón, muchas mujeres extranjeras: á las de Moab, á las de Ammón, á las de Idumea, á las de Sidón, y á las Hetheas; 2Gentes de las cuales Jehová había dicho á los hijos de Israel: No entraréis á ellas, ni ellas entrarán á vosotros; porque ciertamente harán inclinar vuestros corazones tras sus dioses. A éstas pues se juntó Salomón con amor. 3Y tuvo setecientas mujeres reinas, y trescientas concubinas; y sus mujeres torcieron su corazón. 4Y ya que Salomón era viejo, sus mujeres inclinaron su corazón tras dioses ajenos; y su corazón no era perfecto con Jehová su Dios, como el corazón de su padre David. 5Porque Salomón siguió á Astaroth, diosa de los Sidonios, y á Milcom, abominación de los Ammonitas. 6E hizo Salomón lo malo en los ojos de Jehová, y no fué cumplidamente tras Jehová como David su padre. 7Entonces edificó Salomón un alto á Chêmos, abominación de Moab, en el monte que está enfrente de Jerusalem; y á Moloch, abominación de los hijos de Ammón. 8Y así hizo para todas sus mujeres extranjeras, las cuales quemaban perfumes, y sacrificaban á sus dioses. 9Y enojóse Jehová contra Salomón, por cuanto estaba su corazón desviado de Jehová Dios de Israel, que le había aparecido dos veces, 10Y le había mandado acerca de esto, que no siguiese dioses ajenos: mas él no guardó lo que le mandó Jehová. 11Y dijo Jehová á Salomón: Por cuanto ha habido esto en ti, y no has guardado mi pacto y mis estatutos que yo te mandé, romperé el reino de ti, y lo entregaré á tu siervo. 12Empero no lo haré en tus días, por amor de David tu padre: romperélo de la mano de tu hijo. 13Sin embargo no romperé todo el reino, sino que daré una tribu á tu hijo, por amor de David mi siervo, y por amor de Jerusalem que yo he elegido. 14Y Jehová suscitó un adversario á Salomón, á Adad, Idumeo, de la sangre real, el cual estaba en Edom. 15Porque cuando David estaba en Edom, y subió Joab el general del ejército á enterrar los muertos, y mató á todos los varones de Edom, 16(Porque seis meses habitó allí Joab, y todo Israel, hasta que hubo acabado á todo el sexo masculino en Edom;) 17Entonces huyó Adad, y con él algunos varones Idumeos de los siervos de su padre, y fuése á Egipto; era entonces Adad muchacho pequeño. 18Y levantáronse de Madián, y vinieron á Parán; y tomando consigo hombres de Parán, viniéronse á Egipto, á Faraón rey de Egipto, el cual le dió casa, y le señaló alimentos, y aun le dió tierra. 19Y halló Adad grande gracia delante de Faraón, el cual le dió por mujer á la hermana de su esposa, á la hermana de la reina Thaphnes. 20Y la hermana de Thaphnes le parió á su hijo Genubath, al cual destetó Thaphnes dentro de la casa de Faraón; y estaba Genubath en casa de Faraón entre los hijos de Faraón. 21Y oyendo Adad en Egipto que David había dormido con sus padres, y que era muerto Joab general del ejército, Adad dijo á Faraón: Déjame ir á mi tierra. 22Y respondióle Faraón: ¿Por qué? ¿qué te falta conmigo, que procuras irte á tu tierra? Y él respondió: Nada; con todo, ruégote que me dejes ir. 23Despertóle también Dios por adversario á Rezón, hijo de Eliada, el cual había huído de su amo Adad-ezer, rey de Soba. 24Y había juntado gente contra él, y habíase hecho capitán de una compañía, cuando David deshizo á los de Soba. Después se fueron á Damasco, y habitaron allí, é hiciéronle rey en Damasco. 25Y fué adversario á Israel todos los días de Salomón; y fué otro mal con el de Adad, porque aborreció á Israel, y reinó sobre la Siria. 26Asimismo Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, Ephrateo de Sereda, siervo de Salomón, (su madre se llamaba Serva, mujer viuda) alzó su mano contra el rey. 27Y la causa por qué éste alzó mano contra el rey, fué esta: Salomón edificando á Millo, cerró el portillo de la ciudad de David su padre. 28Y el varón Jeroboam era valiente y esforzado; y viendo Salomón al mancebo que era hombre activo, encomendóle todo el cargo de la casa de José. 29Aconteció pues en aquel tiempo, que saliendo Jeroboam de Jerusalem, topóle en el camino el profeta Ahías Silonita; y él estaba cubierto con una capa nueva; y estaban ellos dos solos en el campo. 30Y trabando Ahías de la capa nueva que tenía sobre sí, rompióla en doce pedazos, 31Y dijo á Jeroboam: Toma para ti los diez pedazos; porque así dijo Jehová Dios de Israel: He aquí que yo rompo el reino de la mano de Salomón, y á ti daré diez tribus; 32(Y él tendrá una tribu, por amor de David mi siervo, y por amor de Jerusalem, ciudad que yo he elegido de todas las tribus de Israel:) 33Por cuanto me han dejado, y han adorado á Astharoth diosa de los Sidonios, y á Chêmos dios de Moab, y á Moloch dios de los hijos de Ammón; y no han andado en mis caminos, para hacer lo recto delante de mis ojos, y mis estatutos, y mis derechos, como hizo David su padre. 34Empero no quitaré nada de su reino de sus manos, sino que lo retendré por caudillo todos los días de su vida, por amor de David mi siervo, al cual yo elegí, y él guardó mis mandamientos y mis estatutos: 35Mas yo quitaré el reino de la mano de su hijo, y darélo á ti, las diez tribus. 36Y á su hijo daré una tribu, para que mi siervo David tenga lámpara todos los días delante de mí en Jerusalem, ciudad que yo me elegí para poner en ella mi nombre. 37Yo pues te tomaré á ti, y tú reinarás en todas las cosas que deseare tu alma, y serás rey sobre Israel. 38Y será que, si prestares oído á todas las cosas que te mandare, y anduvieres en mis caminos, é hicieres lo recto delante de mis ojos, guardando mis estatutos y mis mandamientos, como hizo David mi siervo, yo seré contigo, y te edificaré casa firme, como la edifiqué á David, y yo te entregaré á Israel. 39Y yo afligiré la simiente de David á causa de esto, mas no para siempre. 40Procuró por tanto Salomón de matar á Jeroboam, pero levantándose Jeroboam, huyó á Egipto, á Sisac rey de Egipto, y estuvo en Egipto hasta la muerte de Salomón. 41Lo demás de los hechos de Salomón, y todas las cosas que hizo, y su sabiduría, ¿no están escritas en el libro de los hechos de Salomón? 42Y los días que Salomón reinó en Jerusalem sobre todo Israel, fueron cuarenta años. 43Y durmió Salomón con sus padres, y fué sepultado en la ciudad de su padre David: y reinó en su lugar Roboam su hijo.
1Now king Solomon loved many foreign women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians, and Hittites; 2of the nations concerning which Yahweh said to the children of Israel, “You shall not go among them, neither shall they come among you; for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods.” Solomon joined to these in love. 3He had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines; and his wives turned away his heart. 4When Solomon was old, his wives turned away his heart after other gods; and his heart was not perfect with Yahweh his God, as was the heart of David his father. 5For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites. 6Solomon did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh, and didn’t go fully after Yahweh, as did David his father. 7Then Solomon built a high place for Chemosh the abomination of Moab, on the mountain that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech the abomination of the children of Ammon. 8So he did for all his foreign wives, who burnt incense and sacrificed to their gods. 9Yahweh was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned away from Yahweh, the God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice, 10and had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods: but he didn’t keep that which Yahweh commanded. 11Therefore Yahweh said to Solomon, “Because this is done by you, and you have not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded you, I will surely tear the kingdom from you, and will give it to your servant. 12Notwithstanding I will not do it in your days, for David your father’s sake; but I will tear it out of the hand of your son. 13However I will not tear away all the kingdom; but I will give one tribe to your son, for David my servant’s sake, and for Jerusalem’s sake which I have chosen.” 14Yahweh raised up an adversary to Solomon, Hadad the Edomite: he was of the king’s seed in Edom. 15For when David was in Edom, and Joab the captain of the army was gone up to bury the slain, and had struck every male in Edom 16(for Joab and all Israel remained there six months, until he had cut off every male in Edom); 17Hadad fled, he and certain Edomites of his father’s servants with him, to go into Egypt, Hadad being yet a little child. 18They arose out of Midian, and came to Paran; and they took men with them out of Paran, and they came to Egypt, to Pharaoh king of Egypt, who gave him a house, and appointed him food, and gave him land. 19Hadad found great favor in the sight of Pharaoh, so that he gave him as wife the sister of his own wife, the sister of Tahpenes the queen. 20The sister of Tahpenes bore him Genubath his son, whom Tahpenes weaned in Pharaoh’s house; and Genubath was in Pharaoh’s house among the sons of Pharaoh. 21When Hadad heard in Egypt that David slept with his fathers, and that Joab the captain of the army was dead, Hadad said to Pharaoh, “Let me depart, that I may go to my own country.” 22Then Pharaoh said to him, “But what have you lacked with me, that behold, you seek to go to your own country?” He answered, “Nothing, however only let me depart.” 23God raised up an adversary to him, Rezon the son of Eliada, who had fled from his lord Hadadezer king of Zobah. 24He gathered men to him, and became captain over a troop, when David killed them of Zobah: and they went to Damascus, and lived therein, and reigned in Damascus. 25He was an adversary to Israel all the days of Solomon, besides the mischief of Hadad: and he abhorred Israel, and reigned over Syria. 26Jeroboam the son of Nebat, an Ephraimite of Zeredah, a servant of Solomon, whose mother’s name was Zeruah, a widow, he also lifted up his hand against the king. 27This was the reason why he lifted up his hand against the king: Solomon built Millo, and repaired the breach of the city of David his father. 28The man Jeroboam was a mighty man of valor; and Solomon saw the young man that he was industrious, and he put him in charge of all the labor of the house of Joseph. 29At that time, when Jeroboam went out of Jerusalem, the prophet Ahijah the Shilonite found him on the way; now Ahijah had clad himself with a new garment; and they two were alone in the field. 30Ahijah laid hold of the new garment that was on him, and tore it in twelve pieces. 31He said to Jeroboam, “Take ten pieces; for thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, ‘Behold, I will tear the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon, and will give ten tribes to you 32(but he shall have one tribe, for my servant David’s sake and for Jerusalem’s sake, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel); 33because that they have forsaken me, and have worshiped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, Chemosh the god of Moab, and Milcom the god of the children of Ammon. They have not walked in my ways, to do that which is right in my eyes, and to keep my statutes and my ordinances, as David his father did. 34“‘However I will not take the whole kingdom out of his hand; but I will make him prince all the days of his life, for David my servant’s sake whom I chose, who kept my commandments and my statutes; 35but I will take the kingdom out of his son’s hand, and will give it to you, even ten tribes. 36To his son will I give one tribe, that David my servant may have a lamp always before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen me to put my name there. 37I will take you, and you shall reign according to all that your soul desires, and shall be king over Israel. 38It shall be, if you will listen to all that I command you, and will walk in my ways, and do that which is right in my eyes, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as David my servant did; that I will be with you, and will build you a sure house, as I built for David, and will give Israel to you. 39I will for this afflict the seed of David, but not forever.’” 40Solomon sought therefore to kill Jeroboam; but Jeroboam arose, and fled into Egypt, to Shishak king of Egypt, and was in Egypt until the death of Solomon. 41Now the rest of the acts of Solomon, and all that he did, and his wisdom, aren’t they written in the book of the acts of Solomon? 42The time that Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel was forty years. 43Solomon slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David his father: and Rehoboam his son reigned in his place.
1En de koning Salomo had veel vreemde vrouwen lief, en dat benevens de dochter van Farao: Moabietische, Ammonietische, Edomietische, Sidonische, Hethietische; 2Van die volken, waarvan de HEERE gezegd had tot de kinderen Israels: Gijlieden zult tot hen niet ingaan, en zij zullen tot u niet inkomen; zij zouden zekerlijk uw hart achter hun goden neigen; aan deze hing Salomo met liefde. 3En hij had zevenhonderd vrouwen, vorstinnen, en driehonderd bijwijven; en zijn vrouwen neigden zijn hart. 4Want het geschiedde in den tijd van Salomo's ouderdom, dat zijn vrouwen zijn hart achter andere goden neigden; dat zijn hart niet volkomen was met den HEERE, zijn God, gelijk het hart van zijn vader David. 5Want Salomo wandelde Astoreth, den god der Sidoniers, na, en Milchom, het verfoeisel der Ammonieten. 6Alzo deed Salomo dat kwaad was in de ogen des HEEREN; en volhardde niet den HEERE te volgen, gelijk zijn vader David. 7Toen bouwde Salomo een hoogte voor Kamos, het verfoeisel der Moabieten, op den berg, die voor Jeruzalem is, en voor Molech, het verfoeisel der kinderen Ammons. 8En alzo deed hij voor al zijn vreemde vrouwen, die haar goden rookten en offerden. 9Daarom vertoornde Zich de HEERE tegen Salomo, omdat hij zijn hart geneigd had van den HEERE, den God Israels, Die hem tweemaal verschenen was. 10En hem van deze zaak geboden had, dat hij andere goden niet zou nawandelen; doch hij hield niet, wat de HEERE geboden had. 11Daarom zeide de HEERE tot Salomo: Dewijl dit bij u geschied is, dat gij niet hebt gehouden Mijn verbond en Mijn inzettingen, die Ik u geboden heb; Ik zal gewisselijk dit koninkrijk van u scheuren, en datzelve uw knecht geven. 12In uw dagen nochtans zal Ik dat niet doen, om uws vaders Davids wil, van de hand uws zoons zal Ik het scheuren. 13Doch Ik zal het gehele koninkrijk niet afscheuren; een stam zal Ik uw zoon geven, om Mijns knechts Davids wil, en om Jeruzalems wil, dat Ik verkoren heb. 14Zo verwekte de HEERE Salomo een tegenpartijder, Hadad, den Edomiet; hij was van des konings zaad in Edom. 15Want het was geschied, als David in Edom was, toen Joab, de krijgsoverste, optoog, om de verslagenen te begraven, dat hij al wat mannelijk was in Edom sloeg; 16Want Joab bleef aldaar zes maanden, met het ganse Israel, totdat hij al wat mannelijk was in Edom uitgeroeid had. 17Doch Hadad was ontvloden, hij en enige Edomietische mannen uit zijns vaders knechten met hem, om in Egypte te komen; Hadad nu was een klein jongsken. 18En zij maakten zich op van Midian, en kwamen tot Paran, en kwamen in Egypte tot Farao, den koning van Egypte, die hem een huis gaf, en hem voeding toezeide, en hem een land gaf. 19En Hadad vond grote genade in de ogen van Farao, zodat hij hem tot een vrouw gaf de zuster zijner huisvrouw, de zuster van Tachpenes, de koningin. 20En de zuster van Tachpenes baarde hem zijn zoon Genubath, denwelken Tachpenes optoog in het huis van Farao; zodat Genubath in het huis van Farao was, onder de zonen van Farao. 21Toen nu Hadad in Egypte hoorde, dat David met zijn vaderen ontslapen, en dat Joab, de krijgsoverste, dood was, zeide Hadad tot Farao: Laat mij gaan, dat ik in mijn land trekke. 22Doch Farao zeide: Maar wat ontbreekt u bij mij, dat, zie, gij in uw land zoekt te trekken? En hij zeide: Niets, maar laat mij evenwel gaan. 23Ook verwekte God hem een wederpartijder, Rezon, den zoon van Eljada, die gevloden was van zijn heer Hadad-ezer, den koning van Zoba, 24Tegen welken hij ook mannen vergaderd had, en werd overste ener bende, als David die doodde; en getrokken zijnde naar Damaskus, woonden zij aldaar, en regeerden in Damaskus. 25En hij was Israels tegenpartijder al de dagen van Salomo, en dat benevens het kwaad, dat Hadad deed; want hij had een afkeer van Israel, en hij regeerde over Syrie. 26Daartoe Jerobeam, de zoon van Nebat, een Efrathiet van Zereda, Salomo's knecht (wiens moeders naam was Zerua, een weduwvrouw), hief ook de hand op tegen den koning. 27Dit is nu de zaak, waarom hij de hand tegen den koning ophief. Salomo bouwde Millo, en sloot de breuk der stad van zijn vader David toe. 28En de man Jerobeam was een dapper held. Toen Salomo dezen jongeling zag, dat hij arbeidzaam was, zo stelde hij hem over al den last van het huis van Jozef. 29Het geschiedde nu te dier tijd, als Jerobeam uit Jeruzalem uitging, dat de profeet Ahia, de Siloniet, hem op den weg vond, en hij zich een nieuw kleed aangedaan had, en zij beiden alleen op het veld waren; 30Zo vatte Ahia het nieuwe kleed, dat aan hem was, en scheurde het, in twaalf stukken. 31En hij zeide tot Jerobeam: Neem u tien stukken; want alzo zegt de HEERE, de God Israels: Zie, Ik zal het koninkrijk van de hand van Salomo scheuren, en u tien stammen geven. 32Maar een stam zal hij hebben, om Mijns knechts Davids wil, en om Jeruzalems wil, de stad, die Ik verkoren heb uit alle stammen van Israel. 33Daarom dat zij Mij verlaten, en zich nedergebogen hebben voor Astoreth, den god der Sidoniers, Kamos, den god der Moabieten, en Milchom, den god der kinderen Ammons; en niet gewandeld hebben in Mijn wegen, om te doen wat recht is in Mijn ogen, te weten Mijn inzettingen en Mijn rechten; gelijk zijn vader David. 34Doch niets van dit koninkrijk zal Ik uit zijn hand nemen; maar Ik stel hem tot een vorst al de dagen zijns levens, om Mijns knechts Davids wil, dien Ik verkoren heb, die Mijn geboden en Mijn inzettingen gehouden heeft. 35Maar uit de hand zijns zoons zal Ik het koninkrijk nemen; en Ik zal u daarvan tien stammen geven. 36En zijn zoon zal Ik een stam geven; opdat Mijn knecht David altijd een lamp voor Mijn aangezicht hebbe in Jeruzalem, de stad, die Ik Mij verkoren heb, om Mijn Naam daar te stellen. 37Zo zal Ik u nemen, en gij zult regeren over al wat uw ziel zal begeren; en gij zult koning zijn over Israel. 38En het zal geschieden, zo gij horen zult al wat Ik u zal gebieden, en in Mijn wegen zult wandelen, en doen wat recht in Mijn ogen is, houdende Mijn inzettingen en Mijn geboden, gelijk als Mijn knecht David gedaan heeft; dat Ik met u zal zijn, en u een bestendig huis bouwen, gelijk als Ik David gebouwd heb, en zal u Israel geven. 39En Ik zal om diens wil het zaad van David verootmoedigen; nochtans niet altijd. 40Daarom zocht Salomo Jerobeam te doden; maar Jerobeam maakte zich op, en vlood in Egypte, tot Sisak, den koning van Egypte, en was in Egypte, totdat Salomo stierf. 41Het overige nu der geschiedenissen van Salomo, en al wat hij gedaan heeft, en zijn wijsheid, is dat niet geschreven in het boek der geschiedenissen van Salomo? 42De tijd nu, dien Salomo te Jeruzalem over het ganse Israel regeerde, was veertig jaar. 43Daarna ontsliep Salomo met zijn vaderen, en werd begraven in de stad van zijn vader David; en Rehabeam, zijn zoon, werd koning in zijn plaats.
