1Khốn thay cho mão triều thiên kiêu ngạo của những bợm rượu Ép-ra-im, khốn thay cho hoa chóng tàn làm đồ trang sức đẹp nhứt dân ấy, đóng tại nơi trũng màu mỡ của những người say rượu? 2Nầy, từ nơi Chúa có một người mạnh và có quyền, giống như cơn bão mưa đá, như trận gió phá hại, như nước lớn vỡ bờ. Người sẽ lấy tay ném cả xuống đất. 3Mão triều thiên kiêu ngạo của những bợm rượu Ép-ra-im sẽ bị giày đạp dưới chơn. 4Cái hoa chóng tàn làm đồ trang sức đẹp nhứt dân ấy, đóng tại nơi trũng màu mỡ, cũng sẽ giống như trái vả chín trước mùa hè: người ta thấy nó, vừa mới vào tay thì đã nuốt. 5Trong ngày đó, Ðức Giê-hô-va vạn quân sẽ trở nên mão triều thiên chói sáng và mão miện rực rỡ của dân sót Ngài; 6sẽ trở nên thần công chính cho kẻ ngồi trên tòa xét đoán, và sức mạnh cho những kẻ đuổi giặc nơi cửa thành. 7Song những kẻ ấy cũng choáng váng vì rượu, xiêu tó vì các thứ rượu mạnh. Thầy tế lễ và đấng tiên tri đều choáng váng vì rượu mạnh, bị rượu nuốt đi, nhơn các thứ rượu mạnh mà xoàng ba; xem sự hiện thấy thì cắt nghĩa sai, xử kiện thì vấp ngã; 8mửa ra ô uế đầy bàn tiệc, chẳng có chỗ nào sạch! 9Vậy người sẽ dạy khôn cho ai, và khiến ai hiểu sẽ dạy dỗ mình? Có phải là dạy cho những trẻ con thôi bú, mới lìa khỏi vú chăng? 10Vì, với họ phải giềng mối thêm giềng mối, giềng mối thêm giềng mối; hàng thêm hàng, hàng thêm hàng; một chút chỗ nầy, một chút chỗ kia! 11Vậy nên Ðức Giê-hô-va sẽ dùng môi lạ lưỡi khác mà phán cùng dân nầy. 12Ngài đã phán cùng nó rằng: Ðây là nơi yên nghỉ; hãy để kẻ mệt nhọc được yên nghỉ. Nầy là lúc mát mẻ cho các ngươi. Thế mà họ chẳng chịu nghe. 13Lời Ðức Giê-hô-va đối với họ sẽ là giềng mối thêm giềng mối, giềng mối thêm giềng mối; hàng thêm hàng, hàng thêm hàng; một chút chỗ nầy, một chút chỗ kia; hầu cho họ bước tới, thì ngã nhào và giập nát, sập bẫy, và bị bắt! 14Vậy nên, hỡi các ngươi là những người ngạo mạn, cai trị dân nầy ở Giê-ru-sa-lem, hãy nghe lời của Ðức Giê-hô-va. 15Vì các ngươi nói rằng: Chúng ta đã kết ước với sự chết, và giao ước cùng nơi âm phủ. Khi tai nạn hủy diệt trải qua, sẽ chẳng chạm đến ta đâu. Chúng ta lấy sự nói dối là nơi nương náu, sự gian lận làm nơi ẩn mình. 16Vậy nên, Chúa Giê-hô-va phán như vầy: Nầy, ta đặt tại Si-ôn một hòn đá để làm nền, là đá đã thử nghiệm, là đá góc quí báu, là nền bền vững: ai tin sẽ chẳng gấp rúc. 17Ta sẽ lấy sự chánh trực làm dây đo, sự công bình làm chuẩn mực; mưa đó sẽ hủy diệt nơi ẩn náu bằng sự nói dối, nước sẽ ngập chỗ nương náu. 18Bấy giờ ước các người kết với sự chết sẽ phế đi, ước các ngươi giao cùng nơi âm phủ sẽ không đứng được. Khi tai nạn hủy diệt trải qua, các ngươi đều bị giày đạp. 19Mỗi lần tai nạn trải qua, sẽ bắt lấy các ngươi, vì nó trải qua mọi buổi sớm mai, ngày và đêm; chỉ có sự kính sợ làm cho các ngươi hiểu biết lời dạy ấy. 20Giường ngắn quá không thể duỗi mình; nền hẹp quá không thể quấn mình. 21Vì Ðức Giê-hô-va sẽ dấy lên như ở núi Phê-ra-xim; Ngài nổi giận như tại trũng Ga-ba-ôn, đặng làm việc Ngài, là việc khác thường, và làm công Ngài, là công lạ lùng. 22Vậy bây giờ, đừng khinh lờn nữa, e dây tói càng buộc chặt các ngươi chẳng; vì ta có nghe từ nơi Chúa, là Ðức Giê-hô-va vạn quân, lịnh truyền hủy diệt cả đất. 23Hãy lắng tai, nghe tiếng ta; hãy để ý, nghe lời ta! 24Kẻ cày để gieo, há hằng ngày cứ cày luôn sao? Há chẳng vỡ đất và bừa hay sao? 25Khi đã bông bằng mặt đất rồi, há chẳng vải tiểu hồi, gieo đại hồi ư? Há chẳng tỉa lúa mì nơi rãnh, mạch nha nơi đã cắm dấu, và đại mạch trên bờ ư? 26Ấy là Ðức Chúa Trời dạy và bảo nó cách phải làm. 27Vì người ta chẳng dùng trái lăn mà nghiền tiểu hồi, cũng chẳng cho bánh-xe lăn trên đại hồi; nhưng tiểu hồi thì đập bằng cái que, đại hồi thì đập bằng cái lẻ. 28Người ta vẫn xay lúa mì; những chẳng đập luôn dầu cho hột thóc qua dưới bánh xe hoặc chơn ngựa, song không giập nát. 29Ðiều đó cũng ra bởi Ðức Giê-hô-va vạn quân, mưu Ngài lạ lùng, sự khôn ngoan Ngài tốt lành.
1Woe to the crown of pride of the drunkards of Ephraim, and to the fading flower of his glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fertile valley of those who are overcome with wine! 2Behold, the Lord has a mighty and strong one. Like a storm of hail, a destroying storm, and like a storm of mighty waters overflowing, he will cast them down to the earth with his hand. 3The crown of pride of the drunkards of Ephraim will be trodden under foot. 4The fading flower of his glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fertile valley, shall be like the first-ripe fig before the summer; which someone picks and eats as soon as he sees it. 5In that day, Yahweh of Armies will become a crown of glory, and a diadem of beauty, to the residue of his people; 6and a spirit of justice to him who sits in judgment, and strength to those who turn back the battle at the gate. 7They also reel with wine, and stagger with strong drink. The priest and the prophet reel with strong drink. They are swallowed up by wine. They stagger with strong drink. They err in vision. They stumble in judgment. 8For all tables are completely full of filthy vomit and filthiness. 9Whom will he teach knowledge? To whom will he explain the message? Those who are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts? 10For it is precept on precept, precept on precept; line on line, line on line; here a little, there a little. 11But he will speak to this nation with stammering lips and in another language; 12to whom he said, “This is the resting place. Give rest to weary”; and “This is the refreshing”; yet they would not hear. 13Therefore Yahweh’s word will be to them precept on precept, precept on precept; line on line, line on line; here a little, there a little; that they may go, fall backward, be broken, be snared, and be taken. 14Therefore hear Yahweh’s word, you scoffers, that rule this people in Jerusalem: 15“Because you have said, ‘We have made a covenant with death, and with Sheol are we in agreement. When the overflowing scourge passes through, it won’t come to us; for we have made lies our refuge, and we have hidden ourselves under falsehood.’” 16Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh, “Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious cornerstone of a sure foundation. He who believes shall not act hastily. 17I will make justice the measuring line, and righteousness the plumb line. The hail will sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters will overflow the hiding place. 18Your covenant with death shall be annulled, and your agreement with Sheol shall not stand. When the overflowing scourge passes through, then you will be trampled down by it. 19As often as it passes through, it will seize you; for morning by morning it will pass through, by day and by night; and it will be nothing but terror to understand the message.” 20For the bed is too short to stretch out on, and the blanket is too narrow to wrap oneself in. 21For Yahweh will rise up as on Mount Perazim. He will be angry as in the valley of Gibeon; that he may do his work, his unusual work, and bring to pass his act, his extraordinary act. 22Now therefore don’t be scoffers, lest your bonds be made strong; for I have heard a decree of destruction from the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, on the whole earth. 23Give ear, and hear my voice! Listen, and hear my speech! 24Does he who plows to sow plow continually? Does he keep turning the soil and breaking the clods? 25When he has leveled its surface, doesn’t he plant the dill, and scatter the cumin seed, and put in the wheat in rows, the barley in the appointed place, and the spelt in its place? 26For his God instructs him in right judgment, and teaches him. 27For the dill are not threshed with a sharp instrument, neither is a cart wheel turned over the cumin; but the dill is beaten out with a stick, and the cumin with a rod. 28Bread flour must be ground; so he will not always be threshing it. Although he drives the wheel of his threshing cart over it, his horses don’t grind it. 29This also comes out from Yahweh of Armies, who is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in wisdom.
1Wee de hovaardige kroon der dronkenen van Efraim, welker heerlijk sieraad is een afvallende bloem, die daar is op het hoofd der zeer vette vallei, der geslagenen van den wijn. 2Ziet, de Heere heeft een sterke en machtige, er is gelijk een hagelvloed, een poort des verderfs; gelijk een vloed der sterke wateren; die overvloeien, zal Hij ze ter aarde nederwerpen met de hand. 3De hovaardige kronen der dronkenen van Efraim zullen met voeten vertreden worden. 4En de afvallende bloem zijns heerlijken sieraads, die op het hoofd der zeer vette vallei is, zal zijn gelijk een vroegrijpe vrucht voor den zomer, welke, wanneer ze iemand ziet, terwijl zij nog in zijn hand is, slokt hij ze op. 5Te dien dage zal de HEERE der heirscharen tot een heerlijke Kroon en tot een sierlijken Krans zijn den overgeblevenen Zijns volks. 6En tot een Geest des oordeels dien, die ten oordeel zit, en tot een sterkte dengenen, die den strijd afkeren tot de poort toe. 7En ook dwalen dezen van den wijn, en zij dolen van den sterken drank; de priester en de profeet dwalen van den sterken drank; zij zijn verslonden van den wijn, zij dolen van sterken drank; zij dwalen in het gezicht; zij waggelen in het gericht. 8Want alle tafels zijn vol van uitspuwsel en van drek, zodat er geen plaats schoon is. 9Wien zou Hij dan de kennis leren, en wien zou Hij het gehoorde te verstaan geven? Den gespeenden van de melk, den afgetrokkenen van de borsten? 10Want het is gebod op gebod, gebod op gebod, regel op regel, regel op regel, hier een weinig, daar een weinig. 11Daarom zal Hij door belachelijke lippen, en door een andere tong tot dit volk spreken; 12Tot dewelken Hij gezegd heeft: Dit is de rust, geeft den moeden rust, en dit is de verkwikking; doch zij hebben niet willen horen. 13Zo zal hun het woord des HEEREN zijn; gebod op gebod, gebod op gebod, regel op regel, regel op regel, hier een weinig, daar een weinig; opdat zij heengaan, en achterwaarts vallen, en verbreken, en verstrikt en gevangen worden. 14Daarom, hoort des HEEREN woord, gij bespotters, gij heersers over dit volk, dat te Jeruzalem is! 15Omdat gijlieden zegt: Wij hebben een verbond met den dood gemaakt, en met de hel hebben wij een voorzichtig verdrag gemaakt; wanneer de overvloeiende gesel doortrekken zal, zal hij tot ons niet komen; want wij hebben de leugen ons tot een toevlucht gesteld, en onder de valsheid hebben wij ons verborgen. 16Daarom, alzo zegt de Heere HEERE: Ziet, Ik leg een grondsteen in Sion, een beproefden steen, een kostelijken hoeksteen, die wel vast gegrondvest is; wie gelooft, die zal niet haasten. 17En Ik zal het gericht stellen naar het richtsnoer, en de gerechtigheid naar het paslood; en de hagel zal de toevlucht der leugen wegvagen, en de wateren zullen de schuilplaats overlopen. 18En ulieder verbond met den dood zal te niet worden, en uw voorzichtig verdrag met de hel zal niet bestaan; wanneer de overvloeiende gesel doortrekken zal, dan zult gijlieden van denzelven vertreden worden. 19Van den tijd af, als hij doortrekt, zal hij ulieden wegnemen, want allen morgen zal hij doortrekken, bij dag en bij nacht; en het zal geschieden, dat het gerucht te verstaan, enkel beroering wezen zal. 20Want het bed zal korter zijn, dan dat men zich daarop uitstrekken kunne; en het deksel zal te smal wezen, als men zich daaronder voegt. 21Want de HEERE zal Zich opmaken, gelijk op den berg Perazim, Hij zal beroerd zijn, gelijk in het dal van Gibeon, om Zijn werk te doen, Zijn werk zal vreemd zijn; en om Zijn daad te doen, Zijn daad zal vreemd zijn! 22Nu dan, drijft den spot niet, opdat uw banden niet vaster gemaakt worden; want ik heb van den Heere HEERE der heirscharen gehoord een verdelging, ja, een, die vast besloten is over het ganse land. 23Neemt ter ore en hoort mijn stem, merkt op en hoort mijn rede! 24Ploegt de ploeger den gehelen dag om te zaaien? Opent en egt hij zijn land den gehelen dag? 25Is het niet alzo? Wanneer hij het bovenste van hetzelve effen gemaakt heeft, dan strooit hij wikken, en spreidt komijn, of hij werpt er van de beste tarwe in, of uitgelezen gerst, of spelt, elk aan zijn plaats. 26En zijn God onderricht hem van de wijze, Hij leert hem. 27Want men dorst de wikken niet met den dorswagen, en men laat het wagenrad niet rondom over het komijn gaan; maar de wikken slaat men uit met een staf, en het komijn met een stok; 28Het brood koren moet verbrijzeld worden, maar hij dorst het niet geduriglijk dorsende; noch hij breekt het met het wiel zijn wagens, noch hij verbrijzelt het met zijn paarden. 29Zulks komt ook voort van den HEERE der heirscharen; Hij is wonderlijk van raad, Hij is groot van daad.
