1Nầy, Ðức Giê-hô-va làm cho đất trống không và hoang vu; Ngài lật đổ mặt đất và làm tan lạc dân cư. 2Thầy tế lễ như chúng dân, ông chủ như đầy tớ trai, bà chủ như đầy tớ gái, kẻ bán như người mua, kẻ cho mượn như người mượn, kẻ lấy lợi như người nộp lợi, ai cũng đồng một thể. 3Trên đất sẽ đều trống không và hoang vu cả; vì Ðức Giê-hô-va đã phán lời ấy. 4Ðất thảm thương và tồi tàn; thế gian lụn bại và tồi tàn; những dân cao nhứt trên đất hao mòn đi. 5Ðất bị dân cư làm ô uế, vì họ đã phạm luật pháp, trái điều răn, dứt giao ước đời đời. 6Vậy nên sự rủa sả thiêu nuốt đất, những người ở trên nó mắc tội. Vì cớ đó dân trên đất bị đốt cháy, chỉ còn ít người sót lại. 7Rượu mới than vãn, cây nho tàn héo, mọi kẻ vốn có lòng vui đều than thở; 8những kẻ đánh trống không đánh nữa, tiếng mừng rỡ hết rồi, dọng vui đờn cầm đã dứt. 9Chẳng còn vừa uống rượu vừa hát nữa; những tay ghiền rượu cho rượu mạnh là cay đắng. 10Thành hoang loạn đã đổ nát; nhà cửa đều đóng lại, không ai vào được. 11Người ta kêu la trong đường phố vì cớ rượu; mọi sự vui đều trở nên tăm tối; sự mừng rỡ trong xứ đi đâu rồi! 12Trong thành vắng vẻ, cửa thành phá hoại! 13Vì giữa các dân trên đất sẽ giống như lúc người ta rung cây ô-li-ve, và như khi mót trái nho sau mùa hái trái. 14Những kẻ nầy sẽ cất tiếng lên, kêu rao; từ nơi biển kêu lớn tiếng vui mừng vì sự uy nghiêm Ðức Giê-hô-va. 15Vậy hãy tôn vinh Ðức Giê-hô-va trong phương đông, hãy tôn vinh danh Ðức Giê-hô-va, Ðức Chúa Trời của Y-sơ-ra-ên, trong các cù lao biển! 16Chúng ta đã nghe từ nơi đầu cùng đất hát rằng: Vinh hiển cho kẻ công bình! Nhưng tôi nói: Tôi bị gầy mòn, tôi bị gầy mòn! Những kẻ gian dối làm gian dối, phải, kẻ gian dối làm gian dối lắm! 17Hỡi dân cư trên đất, sự kinh hãi, hầm và bẫy đến trên ngươi. 18Kẻ nào trốn khỏi tiếng kinh hãi, sẽ sa xuống hầm; nếu lên khỏi hầm, sẽ mắc vào lưới. Vì các cửa sổ trên trời đều mở ra, các nền dưới đất đều rung rinh. 19Ðất đều tan nát, đất đều vỡ lở, đất đều rúng động. 20Ðất lay động như người say; lỏng chỏng như cái võng, tội lỗi chất lên trên nặng trĩu, nó sẽ đổ xuống và không dậy được nữa! 21Xảy ra trong ngày đó, Ðức Giê-hô-va sẽ phạt các cơ binh nơi cao ở trên trời, phạt các vua thế gian ở trên đất. 22Họ sẽ nhóm lại cùng nhau, bị cầm trong hầm như tù bị nhốt trong ngục; cách lâu ngày, sẽ đều bị phạt. 23Mặt trăng sẽ xấu hổ, mặt trời sẽ mắc cỡ; vì Ðức Giê-hô-va vạn quân sẽ trị vì trên núi Si-ôn, tại Giê-ru-sa-lem; và sự vinh hiển sẽ chói lói trước mặt các trưởng lão.
1Behold, Yahweh makes the earth empty, makes it waste, turns it upside down, and scatters its inhabitants. 2It will be as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the creditor, so with the debtor; as with the taker of interest, so with the giver of interest. 3The earth will be utterly emptied and utterly laid waste; for Yahweh has spoken this word. 4The earth mourns and fades away. The world languishes and fades away. The lofty people of the earth languish. 5The earth also is polluted under its inhabitants, because they have transgressed the laws, violated the statutes, and broken the everlasting covenant. 6Therefore the curse has devoured the earth, and those who dwell therein are found guilty. Therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left. 7The new wine mourns. The vine languishes. All the merry-hearted sigh. 8The mirth of tambourines ceases. The sound of those who rejoice ends. The joy of the harp ceases. 9They will not drink wine with a song. Strong drink will be bitter to those who drink it. 10The confused city is broken down. Every house is shut up, that no man may come in. 11There is a crying in the streets because of the wine. All joy is darkened. The mirth of the land is gone. 12The city is left in desolation, and the gate is struck with destruction. 13For it will be so in the midst of the earth among the peoples, as the shaking of an olive tree, as the gleanings when the vintage is done. 14These shall lift up their voice. They will shout for the majesty of Yahweh. They cry aloud from the sea. 15Therefore glorify Yahweh in the east, even the name of Yahweh, the God of Israel, in the islands of the sea! 16From the uttermost part of the earth have we heard songs. Glory to the righteous! But I said, “I pine away! I pine away! woe is me!” The treacherous have dealt treacherously. Yes, the treacherous have dealt very treacherously. 17Fear, the pit, and the snare, are on you who inhabitant the earth. 18It will happen that he who flees from the noise of the fear will fall into the pit; and he who comes up out of the midst of the pit will be taken in the snare; for the windows on high are opened, and the foundations of the earth tremble. 19The earth is utterly broken. The earth is torn apart. The earth is shaken violently. 20The earth will stagger like a drunken man, and will sway back and forth like a hammock. Its disobedience will be heavy on it, and it will fall and not rise again. 21It shall happen in that day that Yahweh will punish the army of the high ones on high, and the kings of the earth on the earth. 22They shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison; and after many days shall they be visited. 23Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed; for Yahweh of Armies will reign on Mount Zion, and in Jerusalem; and before his elders will be glory.
1Ziet, de HEERE maakt het land ledig, en Hij maakt het woest; en Hij keert deszelfs gestaltenis om, en Hij verstrooit zijn inwoners. 2En gelijk het volk, alzo zal de priester wezen; gelijk de knecht, alzo zijn heer; gelijk de dienstmaagd, alzo haar vrouw; gelijk de koper, alzo de verkoper; gelijk de lener, alzo de ontlener; gelijk de woekeraar, alzo die, van welken hij woeker ontvangt. 3Dat land zal ganselijk ledig gemaakt worden, en het zal ganselijk beroofd worden; want de HEERE heeft dit woord gesproken. 4Het land treurt, het verwelkt; het aardrijk kweelt, het verwelkt; de hoogsten van het volk des lands kwelen. 5Want het land is bevlekt vanwege zijn inwoners; want zij overtreden de wetten, zij veranderen de inzettingen, zij vernietigen het eeuwig verbond. 6Daarom verteert de vloek het land, en die daarin wonen, zullen verwoest worden; daarom zullen de inwoners des lands verbrand worden, en er zullen weinig mensen overblijven. 7De most treurt, de wijnstok kweelt, allen die blijhartig waren, zuchten. 8De vreugde der trommelen rust; het geluid der vrolijk huppelenden houdt op, de vreugde der harp rust. 9Zij zullen geen wijn drinken met gezang; de sterke drank zal bitter zijn dengenen, die hem drinken. 10De woeste stad is verbroken, al de huizen staan gesloten, dat er niemand inkomen kan. 11Er is een klagelijk geroep op de straten, om des wijns wil; alle blijdschap is verduisterd, de vreugde des lands is heengevaren. 12Verwoesting is in de stad overgebleven, en met gekraak wordt de poort in stukken verbroken. 13Want in het binnenste van het land, in het midden dezer volken, zal het alzo wezen, gelijk de afschudding des olijfbooms, gelijk de nalezingen, wanneer de wijnoogst geeindigd is. 14Die zullen hun stem opheffen, zij zullen vrolijk zingen; vanwege de heerlijkheid des HEEREN zullen zij juichen van de zee af. 15Daarom eert den HEERE in de valleien, in de eilanden der zee den Naam des HEEREN, des Gods van Israel. 16Van het uiterste einde der aarde horen wij psalmen, tot verheerlijking des Rechtvaardigen. Doch nu zeg ik: Ik word mager, ik word mager, wee mij! de trouwelozen handelen trouwelooslijk, en met trouweloosheid handelen de trouwelozen trouwelooslijk. 17De vrees, en de kuil, en de strik over u, o inwoners des lands! 18En het zal geschieden, zo wie voor de stem der vreze vlieden zal, die zal in den kuil vallen; en die uit den kuil opklimt, die zal in den strik gevangen worden; want de sluizen in de hoogte zijn opengedaan, en de fondamenten der aarde zullen beven. 19De aarde zal ganselijk verbroken worden, de aarde zal ganselijk vaneen gescheurd worden, de aarde zal ganselijk bewogen worden. 20De aarde zal ganselijk waggelen, gelijk een dronkaard, en zij zal heen en weder bewogen worden, gelijk een nachthut; en haar overtreding zal zwaar op haar zijn, en zij zal vallen, en niet weder opstaan. 21En het zal geschieden te dien dage, dat de HEERE bezoeking doen zal over de heirscharen des hogen in de hoogte, en over de koningen des aardbodems op den aardbodem. 22En zij zullen samenvergaderd worden, gelijk de gevangenen in een put, en zij zullen besloten worden in een gevangenis, maar na vele dagen weder bezocht worden. 23En de maan zal schaamrood worden, en de zon zal beschaamd worden, als de HEERE der heirscharen regeren zal op den berg Sion en te Jeruzalem, en voor zijn oudsten zal heerlijkheid zijn.
