1L’Eterno continuò a rispondere a Giobbe e disse: 2"Il censore dell’Onnipotente vuole ancora contendere con lui? Colui che censura Iddio ha egli una risposta a tutto questo?" 3Allora Giobbe rispose all’Eterno e disse: 4"Ecco, io son troppo meschino; che ti risponderei? Io mi metto la mano sulla bocca. 5Ho parlato una volta, ma non riprenderò la parola, due volte… ma non lo farò più". 6L’Eterno allora rispose a Giobbe dal seno della tempesta, e disse: 7"Orsù, cingiti i lombi come un prode; ti farò delle domande e tu insegnami! 8Vuoi tu proprio annullare il mio giudizio? condannar me per giustificar te stesso? 9Hai tu un braccio pari a quello di Dio? o una voce che tuoni come la sua? 10Su via, adornati di maestà, di grandezza, rivestiti di splendore, di magnificenza! 11Da’ libero corso ai furori dell’ira tua; mira tutti i superbi e abbassali! 12Mira tutti i superbi e umiliali! e schiaccia gli empi dovunque stanno! 13Seppelliscili tutti assieme nella polvere, copri di bende la lor faccia nel buio della tomba! 14Allora, anch’io ti loderò, perché la tua destra t’avrà dato la vittoria. 15Guarda l’ippopotamo che ho fatto al par di te; esso mangia l’erba come il bove. 16Ecco la sua forza è nei suoi lombi, e il vigor suo nei muscoli del ventre. 17Stende rigida come un cedro la coda; i nervi delle sue cosce sono intrecciati insieme. 18Le sue ossa sono tubi di rame; le sue membra, sbarre di ferro. 19Esso è il capolavoro di Dio; colui che lo fece l’ha fornito di falce, 20perché i monti gli producon la pastura; e là tutte le bestie de’ campi gli scherzano intorno. 21Si giace sotto i loti, nel folto de’ canneti, in mezzo alle paludi. 22I loti lo copron dell’ombra loro, i salci del torrente lo circondano. 23Straripi pure il fiume, ei non trema; rimane calmo, anche se avesse un Giordano alla gola. 24Potrebbe alcuno impadronirsene assalendolo di fronte? o prenderlo colle reti per forargli il naso?
1Moreover Yahweh answered Job, 2“Shall he who argues contend with the Almighty? He who argues with God, let him answer it.” 3Then Job answered Yahweh, 4“Behold, I am of small account. What shall I answer you? I lay my hand on my mouth. 5I have spoken once, and I will not answer; Yes, twice, but I will proceed no further.” 6Then Yahweh answered Job out of the whirlwind, 7“Now brace yourself like a man. I will question you, and you will answer me. 8Will you even annul my judgment? Will you condemn me, that you may be justified? 9Or do you have an arm like God? Can you thunder with a voice like him? 10“Now deck yourself with excellency and dignity. Array yourself with honor and majesty. 11Pour out the fury of your anger. Look at everyone who is proud, and bring him low. 12Look at everyone who is proud, and humble him. Crush the wicked in their place. 13Hide them in the dust together. Bind their faces in the hidden place. 14Then I will also admit to you that your own right hand can save you. 15“See now, behemoth, which I made as well as you. He eats grass as an ox. 16Look now, his strength is in his thighs. His force is in the muscles of his belly. 17He moves his tail like a cedar. The sinews of his thighs are knit together. 18His bones are like tubes of brass. His limbs are like bars of iron. 19He is the chief of the ways of God. He who made him gives him his sword. 20Surely the mountains produce food for him, where all the animals of the field play. 21He lies under the lotus trees, in the covert of the reed, and the marsh. 22The lotuses cover him with their shade. The willows of the brook surround him. 23Behold, if a river overflows, he doesn’t tremble. He is confident, though the Jordan swells even to his mouth. 24Shall any take him when he is on the watch, or pierce through his nose with a snare?
1En de HEERE antwoordde Job, en zeide: 2Is het twisten met den Almachtige onderrichten? Wie God bestraft, die antwoorde daarop. 3Toen antwoordde Job den HEERE, en zeide: 4Zie, ik ben te gering; wat zou ik U antwoorden? En kunt gij, gelijk Hij, met de stem donderen? 10Versier u nu met voortreffelijkheid en hoogheid, en bekleed u met majesteit en heerlijkheid! 11Strooi de verbolgenheden uws toorns uit, en zie allen hoogmoedige, en verneder hem! 12Zie allen hoogmoedige, en breng hem ten onder; en verpletter de goddelozen in hun plaats! 13Verberg hen te zamen in het stof; verbind hun aangezichten in het verborgen! 14Dan zal Ik ook u loven, omdat uw rechterhand u zal verlost hebben. 15Zie nu Behemoth, welken Ik gemaakt heb nevens u; hij eet hooi, gelijk een rund. 16Zie toch, zijn kracht is in zijn lenden, en zijn macht in den navel zijns buiks. 17Als het hem lust, zijn staart is als een ceder; de zenuwen zijner schaamte zijn doorvlochten. 18Zijn beenderen zijn als vast koper; zijn gebeenten zijn als ijzeren handbomen. 19Hij is een hoofdstuk der wegen Gods; die hem gemaakt heeft, heeft hem zijn zwaard aangehecht. 20Omdat de bergen hem voeder voortbrengen, daarom spelen al de dieren des velds aldaar. 21Onder schaduwachtige bomen ligt hij neder, in een schuilplaats des riets en des slijks. 22De schaduwachtige bomen bedekken hem, elkeen met zijn schaduw; de beekwilgen omringen hem. 23Zie, hij doet de rivier geweld aan, en verhaast zich niet; hij vertrouwt, dat hij de Jordaan in zijn mond zou kunnen intrekken. 24Zou men hem voor zijn ogen kunnen vangen? Zou men hem met strikken den neus doorboren kunnen?
