1Jotham avait vingt-cinq ans lorsqu’il devint roi, et il régna seize ans à Jérusalem. Sa mère s’appelait Jeruscha, fille de Tsadok. 2Il fit ce qui est droit aux yeux de l’Éternel, entièrement comme avait fait Ozias, son père. Seulement, il n’entra point dans le temple de l’Éternel. Toutefois, le peuple se corrompait encore. 3Jotham bâtit la porte supérieure de la maison de l’Éternel, et il fit beaucoup de constructions sur les murs de la colline. 4Il bâtit des villes dans la montagne de Juda, et des châteaux et des tours dans les bois. 5Il fut en guerre avec le roi des fils d’Ammon, et il l’emporta sur eux. Les fils d’Ammon lui donnèrent cette année-là cent talents d’argent, dix mille cors de froment, et dix mille d’orge ; et ils lui en payèrent autant la seconde année et la troisième. 6Jotham devint puissant, parce qu’il affermit ses voies devant l’Éternel, son Dieu. 7Le reste des actions de Jotham, toutes ses guerres, et tout ce qu’il a fait, cela est écrit dans le livre des rois d’Israël et de Juda. 8Il avait vingt-cinq ans lorsqu’il devint roi, et il régna seize ans à Jérusalem. 9Jotham se coucha avec ses pères, et on l’enterra dans la ville de David. Et Achaz, son fils, régna à sa place.
1Jotham was twenty-five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Jerushah the daughter of Zadok. 2He did that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh, according to all that his father Uzziah had done: however he didn’t enter into Yahweh’s temple. The people still did corruptly. 3He built the upper gate of Yahweh’s house, and on the wall of Ophel he built much. 4Moreover he built cities in the hill country of Judah, and in the forests he built castles and towers. 5He fought also with the king of the children of Ammon, and prevailed against them. The children of Ammon gave him the same year one hundred talents of silver, and ten thousand measures of wheat, and ten thousand of barley. The children of Ammon gave that much to him in the second year also, and in the third. 6So Jotham became mighty, because he ordered his ways before Yahweh his God. 7Now the rest of the acts of Jotham, and all his wars, and his ways, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah. 8He was five and twenty years old when he began to reign, and reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. 9Jotham slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David: and Ahaz his son reigned in his place.
1Jotham was vijf en twintig jaren oud, toen hij koning werd, en hij regeerde zestien jaren te Jeruzalem; en de naam zijner moeder was Jerusa, een dochter van Zadok. 2En hij deed dat recht was in de ogen des HEEREN, naar alles, wat zijn vader Uzzia gedaan had, behalve dat hij in den tempel des HEEREN niet ging; en het volk verdierf zich nog. 3Dezelve bouwde de hoge poorten aan het huis des HEEREN; hij bouwde ook veel aan den muur van Ofel. 4Daartoe bouwde hij steden op het gebergte van Juda; en in de wouden bouwde hij burchten en torens. 5Hij krijgde ook tegen den koning der kinderen Ammons, en had de overhand over hen, zodat de kinderen Ammons in datzelfde jaar hem gaven honderd talenten zilvers, en tien duizend kor tarwe, en tien duizend gerst; dit brachten hem de kinderen Ammons wederom, ook in het tweede en in het derde jaar. 6Alzo versterkte zich Jotham; want hij richtte zijn wegen voor het aangezicht des HEEREN, zijns Gods. 7Het overige nu der geschiedenissen van Jotham, en al zijn krijgen, en zijn wegen, ziet, zij zijn geschreven in het boek der koningen van Israel en Juda. 8Hij was vijf en twintig jaren oud, toen hij koning werd; en hij regeerde zestien jaren te Jeruzalem. 9En Jotham ontsliep met zijn vaderen, en zij begroeven hem in de stad Davids; en zijn zoon Achaz werd koning in zijn plaats.
