1Le roi David dit à toute l’assemblée : Mon fils Salomon, le seul que Dieu ait choisi, est jeune et d’un âge faible, et l’ouvrage est considérable, car ce palais n’est pas pour un homme, mais il est pour l’Éternel Dieu. 2J’ai mis toutes mes forces à préparer pour la maison de mon Dieu de l’or pour ce qui doit être d’or, de l’argent pour ce qui doit être d’argent, de l’airain pour ce qui doit être d’airain, du fer pour ce qui doit être de fer, et du bois pour ce qui doit être de bois, des pierres d’onyx et des pierres à enchâsser, des pierres brillantes et de diverses couleurs, toutes sortes de pierres précieuses, et du marbre blanc en quantité. 3De plus, dans mon attachement pour la maison de mon Dieu, je donne à la maison de mon Dieu l’or et l’argent que je possède en propre, outre tout ce que j’ai préparé pour la maison du sanctuaire : 4trois mille talents d’or, d’or d’Ophir, et sept mille talents d’argent épuré, pour en revêtir les parois des bâtiments, 5l’or pour ce qui doit être d’or, et l’argent pour ce qui doit être d’argent, et pour tous les travaux qu’exécuteront les ouvriers. Qui veut encore présenter volontairement aujourd’hui ses offrandes à l’Éternel ? 6Les chefs des maisons paternelles, les chefs des tribus d’Israël, les chefs de milliers et de centaines, et les intendants du roi firent volontairement des offrandes. 7Ils donnèrent pour le service de la maison de Dieu cinq mille talents d’or, dix mille dariques, dix mille talents d’argent, dix-huit mille talents d’airain, et cent mille talents de fer. 8Ceux qui possédaient des pierres les livrèrent pour le trésor de la maison de l’Éternel entre les mains de Jehiel, le Guerschonite. 9Le peuple se réjouit de leurs offrandes volontaires, car c’était avec un cœur bien disposé qu’ils les faisaient à l’Éternel ; et le roi David en eut aussi une grande joie. 10David bénit l’Éternel en présence de toute l’assemblée. Il dit : Béni sois-tu, d’éternité en éternité, Éternel, Dieu de notre père Israël. 11À toi, Éternel, la grandeur, la force et la magnificence, l’éternité et la gloire, car tout ce qui est au ciel et sur la terre t’appartient ; à toi, Éternel, le règne, car tu t’élèves souverainement au-dessus de tout ! 12C’est de toi que viennent la richesse et la gloire, c’est toi qui domines sur tout, c’est dans ta main que sont la force et la puissance, et c’est ta main qui a le pouvoir d’agrandir et d’affermir toutes choses. 13Maintenant, ô notre Dieu, nous te louons, et nous célébrons ton nom glorieux. 14Car qui suis-je et qui est mon peuple, pour que nous puissions te faire volontairement ces offrandes ? Tout vient de toi, et nous recevons de ta main ce que nous t’offrons. 15Nous sommes devant toi des étrangers et des habitants, comme tous nos pères ; nos jours sur la terre sont comme l’ombre, et il n’y a point d’espérance. 16Éternel, notre Dieu, c’est de ta main que viennent toutes ces richesses que nous avons préparées pour te bâtir une maison, à toi, à ton saint nom, et c’est à toi que tout appartient. 17Je sais, ô mon Dieu, que tu sondes le cœur, et que tu aimes la droiture ; aussi je t’ai fait toutes ces offrandes volontaires dans la droiture de mon cœur, et j’ai vu maintenant avec joie ton peuple qui se trouve ici t’offrir volontairement ses dons. 18Éternel, Dieu d’Abraham, d’Isaac et d’Israël, nos pères, maintiens à toujours dans le cœur de ton peuple ces dispositions et ces pensées, et affermis son cœur en toi. 19Donne à mon fils Salomon un cœur dévoué à l’observation de tes commandements, de tes préceptes et de tes lois, afin qu’il mette en pratique toutes ces choses, et qu’il bâtisse le palais pour lequel j’ai fait des préparatifs. 20David dit à toute l’assemblée : Bénissez l’Éternel, votre Dieu ! Et toute l’assemblée bénit l’Éternel, le Dieu de leurs pères. Ils s’inclinèrent et se prosternèrent devant l’Éternel et devant le roi. 21Le lendemain de ce jour, ils offrirent en sacrifice et en holocauste à l’Éternel mille taureaux, mille béliers et mille agneaux, avec les libations ordinaires, et d’autres sacrifices en grand nombre pour tout Israël. 22Ils mangèrent et burent ce jour-là devant l’Éternel avec une grande joie, ils proclamèrent roi pour la seconde fois Salomon, fils de David, ils l’oignirent devant l’Éternel comme chef, et ils oignirent Tsadok comme sacrificateur. 23Salomon s’assit sur le trône de l’Éternel, comme roi à la place de David, son père. Il prospéra, et tout Israël lui obéit. 24Tous les chefs et les héros, et même tous les fils du roi David se soumirent au roi Salomon. 25L’Éternel éleva au plus haut degré Salomon sous les yeux de tout Israël, et il rendit son règne plus éclatant que ne fut celui d’aucun roi d’Israël avant lui. 26David, fils d’Isaï, régna sur tout Israël. 27Le temps qu’il régna sur Israël fut de quarante ans : à Hébron il régna sept ans, et à Jérusalem il régna trente-trois ans. 28Il mourut dans une heureuse vieillesse, rassasié de jours, de richesse et de gloire. Et Salomon, son fils, régna à sa place. 29Les actions du roi David, les premières et les dernières, sont écrites dans le livre de Samuel le voyant, dans le livre de Nathan, le prophète, et dans le livre de Gad, le prophète, 30avec tout son règne et tous ses exploits, et ce qui s’est passé de son temps, soit en Israël, soit dans tous les royaumes des autres pays.
1David the king said to all the assembly, “Solomon my son, whom alone God has chosen, is yet young and tender, and the work is great; for the palace is not for man, but for Yahweh God. 2Now I have prepared with all my might for the house of my God the gold for the things of gold, and the silver for the things of silver, and the brass for the things of brass, the iron for the things of iron, and wood for the things of wood; onyx stones, and stones to be set, stones for inlaid work, and of various colors, and all kinds of precious stones, and marble stones in abundance. 3In addition, because I have set my affection on the house of my God, since I have a treasure of my own of gold and silver, I give it to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house, 4even three thousand talents of gold, of the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, with which to overlay the walls of the houses; 5of gold for the things of gold, and of silver for the things of silver, and for all kinds of work to be made by the hands of artisans. Who then offers willingly to consecrate himself this day to Yahweh?” 6Then the princes of the fathers’ households, and the princes of the tribes of Israel, and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, with the rulers over the king’s work, offered willingly; 7and they gave for the service of God’s house of gold five thousand talents and ten thousand darics, and of silver ten thousand talents, and of brass eighteen thousand talents, and of iron a hundred thousand talents. 8They with whom precious stones were found gave them to the treasure of Yahweh’s house, under the hand of Jehiel the Gershonite. 9Then the people rejoiced, because they offered willingly, because with a perfect heart they offered willingly to Yahweh: and David the king also rejoiced with great joy. 10Therefore David blessed Yahweh before all the assembly; and David said, “You are blessed, Yahweh, the God of Israel our father, forever and ever. 11Yours, Yahweh, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty! For all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, Yahweh, and you are exalted as head above all. 12Both riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all; and in your hand is power and might; and it is in your hand to make great, and to give strength to all. 13Now therefore, our God, we thank you, and praise your glorious name. 14But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly as this? For all things come from you, and of your own have we given you. 15For we are strangers before you, and foreigners, as all our fathers were. Our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is no remaining. 16Yahweh our God, all this store that we have prepared to build you a house for your holy name comes from your hand, and is all your own. 17I know also, my God, that you try the heart, and have pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of my heart I have willingly offered all these things. Now have I seen with joy your people, that are present here, offer willingly to you. 18Yahweh, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Israel, our fathers, keep this forever in the imagination of the thoughts of the heart of your people, and prepare their heart for you; 19and give to Solomon my son a perfect heart, to keep your commandments, your testimonies, and your statutes, and to do all these things, and to build the palace, for which I have made provision.” 20David said to all the assembly, “Now bless Yahweh your God!” All the assembly blessed Yahweh, the God of their fathers, and bowed down their heads and prostrated themselves before Yahweh and the king. 21They sacrificed sacrifices to Yahweh, and offered burnt offerings to Yahweh, on the next day after that day, even one thousand bulls, one thousand rams, and one thousand lambs, with their drink offerings, and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel, 22and ate and drink before Yahweh on that day with great gladness. They made Solomon the son of David king the second time, and anointed him to Yahweh to be prince, and Zadok to be priest. 23Then Solomon sat on the throne of Yahweh as king instead of David his father, and prospered; and all Israel obeyed him. 24All the princes, the mighty men, and also all of the sons of king David submitted themselves to Solomon the king. 25Yahweh magnified Solomon exceedingly in the sight of all Israel, and bestowed on him such royal majesty as had not been on any king before him in Israel. 26Now David the son of Jesse reigned over all Israel. 27The time that he reigned over Israel was forty years; he reigned seven years in Hebron, and he reigned thirty-three years in Jerusalem. 28He died in a good old age, full of days, riches, and honor: and Solomon his son reigned in his place. 29Now the acts of David the king, first and last, behold, they are written in the history of Samuel the seer, and in the history of Nathan the prophet, and in the history of Gad the seer, 30with all his reign and his might, and the times that went over him, and over Israel, and over all the kingdoms of the countries.
1Verder zeide de koning David tot de ganse gemeente: God heeft mijn zoon Salomo alleen verkoren, een jongeling en teder; dit werk daarentegen is groot, want het is geen paleis voor een mens, maar voor God, den HEERE. 2Ik heb nu uit al mijn kracht bereid tot het huis mijns Gods, goud tot gouden, en zilver tot zilveren, en koper tot koperen, ijzer tot ijzeren, en hout tot houten werken; sardonixstenen en vervullende stenen, versierstenen en borduursel, en allerlei kostelijke stenen, en marmerstenen in menigte. 3En daartoe, uit mijn welgevallen tot het huis mijns Gods, geef ik het bijzonder goud en zilver, dat ik heb, tot het huis mijns Gods daarenboven, behalve al wat ik ten huize des heiligdoms bereid heb; 4Drie duizend talenten gouds, van het goud van Ofir, en zeven duizend talenten gelouterd zilver, om de wanden der huizen te overtrekken; 5Goud tot de gouden, en zilver tot de zilveren vaten, en tot alle werk, door de hand der werkmeesteren te maken. En wie is er willig, heden zijn hand den HEERE te vullen? 6Toen gaven vrijwillig de oversten der vaderen, en de oversten der stammen van Israel, en de oversten der duizenden en der honderden, en de oversten van het werk des konings; 7En zij gaven, tot den dienst van het huis Gods, vijf duizend talenten gouds, en tien duizend drachmen, en tien duizend talenten zilvers, en achttien duizend talenten kopers, en honderd duizend talenten ijzers. 8En bij wien stenen gevonden werden, die gaven zij in den schat van het huis des HEEREN, onder de hand van Jehiel, den Gersoniet. 9En het volk was verblijd over hun vrijwillig geven; want zij gaven met een volkomen hart den HEERE vrijwillig; en de koning David verblijdde zich ook met grote blijdschap. 10Daarom loofde David den HEERE voor de ogen der ganse gemeente; en David zeide: Geloofd zijt Gij, HEERE, God van onzen vader Israel, van eeuwigheid tot in eeuwigheid! 11Uw, o HEERE, is de grootheid, en de macht, en de heerlijkheid, en de overwinning, en de majesteit; want alles, wat in den hemel en op aarde is, is Uw: Uw, o HEERE, is het Koninkrijk, en Gij hebt U verhoogd tot een Hoofd boven alles. 12En rijkdom en eer zijn voor Uw aangezicht, en Gij heerst over alles; en in Uw hand is kracht en macht; ook staat het in Uw hand alles groot te maken en sterk te maken. 13Nu dan, onze God, wij danken U, en loven den Naam Uwer heerlijkheid. 14Want wie ben ik, en wat is mijn volk, dat wij de macht zouden verkregen hebben, om vrijwillig te geven als dit is? Want het is alles van U, en wij geven het U uit Uw hand. 15Want wij zijn vreemdelingen en bijwoners voor Uw aangezicht, gelijk al onze vaders; onze dagen op aarde zijn als een schaduw, en er is geen verwachting. 16HEERE, onze God, al deze menigte, die wij bereid hebben om U een huis te bouwen, den Naam Uwer heiligheid, dat is van Uw hand, en het is alles Uw. 17En ik weet, mijn God, dat Gij het hart proeft, en dat Gij een welgevallen hebt aan oprechtigheden. Ik heb in oprechtigheid mijns harten al deze dingen vrijwillig gegeven, en ik heb nu met vreugde Uw volk, dat hier bevonden wordt, gezien, dat het zich jegens U vrijwillig gedragen heeft. 18O HEERE, Gij, God onzer vaderen, Abraham, Izak en Israel, bewaar dit in der eeuwigheid in den zin der gedachten van het hart Uws volks, en richt hun hart tot U. 19En geef mijn zoon Salomo een volkomen hart, om te houden Uw geboden, Uw getuigenissen en Uw inzettingen; en om alles te doen, en om dit paleis te bouwen, hetwelk ik bereid heb. 20Daarna zeide David tot de ganse gemeente: Looft nu den HEERE, uw God! Toen loofde de ganse gemeente den HEERE, den God hunner vaderen; en zij neigden het hoofd, en zij bogen zich neder voor den HEERE, en voor den koning. 21En zij offerden den HEERE slachtofferen; ook offerden zij den HEERE brandofferen, des anderen morgens van dien dag, duizend varren, duizend rammen, duizend lammeren, met hun drankofferen; en slachtofferen in menigte, voor gans Israel. 22En zij aten en dronken deszelven daags voor het aangezicht des HEEREN met grote vreugde; en zij maakten Salomo, den zoon van David, ten andere male koning, en zij zalfden hem den HEERE tot voorganger, en Zadok tot priester. 23Alzo zat Salomo op den troon des HEEREN, als koning in zijns vaders Davids plaats, en hij was voorspoedig; en gans Israel hoorde naar hem. 24En al de vorsten, en helden, ja, ook al de zonen van den koning David, gaven de hand, dat zij onder den koning Salomo zijn zouden. 25En de HEERE maakte Salomo groot ten hoogste voor de ogen van gans Israel; en Hij gaf aan hem een koninklijke majesteit, zodanige aan geen koning van Israel voor hem geweest is. 26Zo heeft dan David, de zoon van Isai, geregeerd over gans Israel. 27De dagen nu, die hij geregeerd heeft over Israel, zijn veertig jaren; te Hebron regeerde hij zeven jaren, en te Jeruzalem regeerde hij drie en dertig. 28En hij stierf in goeden ouderdom, zat van dagen, rijkdom en eer; en zijn zoon Salomo regeerde in zijn plaats. 29De geschiedenissen nu van den koning David, de eerste en de laatste, ziet, die zijn geschreven in de geschiedenissen van Samuel, den ziener, en in de geschiedenissen van den profeet Nathan, en in de geschiedenissen van Gad, den ziener; 30Met al zijn koninkrijk, en zijn macht, en de tijden, die over hem verlopen zijn, en over Israel, en over al de koninkrijken der landen.
