1Y RESPONDIÓ Bildad Suhita, y dijo: 2¿Hasta cuándo hablarás tales cosas, y las palabras de tu boca serán como un viento fuerte? 3¿Acaso pervertirá Dios el derecho, ó el Todopoderoso pervertirá la justicia? 4Si tus hijos pecaron contra él, él los echó en el lugar de su pecado. 5Si tú de mañana buscares á Dios, y rogares al Todopoderoso; 6Si fueres limpio y derecho, cierto luego se despertará sobre ti, y hará próspera la morada de tu justicia. 7Y tu principio habrá sido pequeño, y tu postrimería acrecerá en gran manera. 8Porque pregunta ahora á la edad pasada, y disponte para inquirir de sus padres de ellos; 9Pues nosotros somos de ayer, y no sabemos, siendo nuestros días sobre la tierra como sombra. 10¿No te enseñarán ellos, te dirán, y de su corazón sacarán palabras? 11¿Crece el junco sin lodo? ¿crece el prado sin agua? 12Aun él en su verdor no será cortado, y antes de toda hierba se secará. 13Tales son los caminos de todos los que olvidan á Dios: y la esperanza del impío perecerá: 14Porque su esperanza será cortada, y su confianza es casa de araña. 15Apoyaráse él sobre su casa, mas no permanecerá en pie; atendráse á ella, mas no se afirmará. 16A manera de un árbol, está verde delante del sol, y sus renuevos salen sobre su huerto; 17Vanse entretejiendo sus raíces junto á una fuente, y enlazándose hasta un lugar pedregoso. 18Si le arrancaren de su lugar, éste negarále entonces, diciendo: Nunca te vi. 19Ciertamente éste será el gozo de su camino; y de la tierra de donde se traspusiere, nacerán otros. 20He aquí, Dios no aborrece al perfecto, ni toma la mano de los malignos. 21Aun henchirá tu boca de risa, y tus labios de júbilo. 22Los que te aborrecen, serán vestidos de confusión; y la habitación de los impíos perecerá.
1Then Bildad the Shuhite answered, 2“How long will you speak these things? Shall the words of your mouth be a mighty wind? 3Does God pervert justice? Or does the Almighty pervert righteousness? 4If your children have sinned against him, He has delivered them into the hand of their disobedience. 5If you want to seek God diligently, make your supplication to the Almighty. 6If you were pure and upright, surely now he would awaken for you, and make the habitation of your righteousness prosperous. 7Though your beginning was small, yet your latter end would greatly increase. 8“Please inquire of past generations. Find out about the learning of their fathers. 9(For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days on earth are a shadow.) 10Shall they not teach you, tell you, and utter words out of their heart? 11“Can the papyrus grow up without mire? Can the rushes grow without water? 12While it is yet in its greenness, not cut down, it withers before any other reed. 13So are the paths of all who forget God. The hope of the godless man shall perish, 14Whose confidence shall break apart, Whose trust is a spider’s web. 15He shall lean on his house, but it shall not stand. He shall cling to it, but it shall not endure. 16He is green before the sun. His shoots go out along his garden. 17His roots are wrapped around the rock pile. He sees the place of stones. 18If he is destroyed from his place, then it shall deny him, saying, ‘I have not seen you.’ 19Behold, this is the joy of his way: out of the earth, others shall spring. 20“Behold, God will not cast away a blameless man, neither will he uphold the evildoers. 21He will still fill your mouth with laughter, your lips with shouting. 22Those who hate you shall be clothed with shame. The tent of the wicked shall be no more.”
1Toen antwoordde Bildad, de Suhiet, en zeide: 2Hoe lang zult gij deze dingen spreken, en de redenen uws monds een geweldige wind zijn? 3Zou dan God het recht verkeren, en zou de Almachtige de gerechtigheid verkeren? 4Indien uw kinderen gezondigd hebben tegen Hem, Hij heeft hen ook in de hand hunner overtreding geworpen. 5Maar indien gij naar God vroeg zoekt, en tot den Almachtige om genade bidt; 6Zo gij zuiver en recht zijt, gewisselijk zal Hij nu opwaken, om uwentwil, en Hij zal de woning uwer gerechtigheid volmaken. 7Uw beginsel zal wel gering zijn; maar uw laatste zal zeer vermeerderd worden. 8Want vraag toch naar het vorige geslacht, en bereid u tot de onderzoeking hunner vaderen. 9Want wij zijn van gisteren en weten niet; dewijl onze dagen op de aarde een schaduw zijn. 10Zullen die u niet leren, tot u spreken, en uit hun hart redenen voortbrengen? 11Verheft zich de bieze zonder slijk? Groeit het rietgras zonder water? 12Als het nog in zijn groenigheid is, hoewel het niet afgesneden wordt, nochtans verdort het voor alle gras. 13Alzo zijn de paden van allen, die God vergeten; en de verwachting des huichelaars zal vergaan. 14Van denwelke zijn hoop walgen zal; en zijn vertrouwen zal zijn een huis der spinnekop. 15Hij zal op zijn huis leunen, maar het zal niet bestaan; hij zal zich daaraan vasthouden, maar het zal niet staande blijven. 16Hij is sappig voor de zon, en zijn scheuten gaan over zijn hof uit. 17Zijn wortelen worden bij de springader ingevlochten; hij ziet een stenige plaats. 18Maar als God hem verslindt uit zijn plaats, zo zal zij hem loochenen, zeggende: Ik heb u niet gezien. 19Zie, dat is vreugde zijns wegs; en uit het stof zullen anderen voortspruiten. 20Zie, God zal den oprechte niet verwerpen; Hij vat ook de boosdoeners niet bij de hand; 21Totdat Hij uw mond met gelach vervulle, en uw lippen met gejuich. 22Uw haters zullen met schaamte bekleed worden; en de tent der goddelozen zal niet meer zijn.
