1Y PARTIENDO de Elim toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel, vino al desierto de Sin, que está entre Elim y Sinaí, á los quince días del segundo mes después que salieron de la tierra de Egipto. 2Y toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel murmuró contra Moisés y Aarón en el desierto; 3Y decíanles los hijos de Israel: Ojalá hubiéramos muerto por mano de Jehová en la tierra de Egipto, cuando nos sentábamos á las ollas de las carnes, cuando comíamos pan en hartura; pues nos habéis sacado á este desierto, para matar de hambre á toda esta multitud. 4Y Jehová dijo á Moisés: He aquí yo os haré llover pan del cielo; y el pueblo saldrá, y cogerá para cada un día, para que yo le pruebe si anda en mi ley, ó no. 5Mas al sexto día aparejarán lo que han de encerrar, que será el doble de lo que solían coger cada día. 6Entonces dijo Moisés y Aarón á todos los hijos de Israel: A la tarde sabréis que Jehová os ha sacado de la tierra de Egipto: 7Y á la mañana veréis la gloria de Jehová; porque él ha oído vuestras murmuraciones contra Jehová; que nosotros, ¿qué somos, para que vosotros murmuréis contra nosotros? 8Y dijo Moisés: Jehová os dará á la tarde carne para comer, y á la mañana pan en hartura; por cuanto Jehová ha oído vuestras murmuraciones con que habéis murmurado contra él: que nosotros, ¿qué somos? vuestras murmuraciones no son contra nosotros, sino contra Jehová. 9Y dijo Moisés á Aarón: Di á toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel: Acercaos á la presencia de Jehová; que él ha oído vuestras murmuraciones. 10Y hablando Aarón á toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel, miraron hacia el desierto, y he aquí la gloria de Jehová, que apareció en la nube. 11Y Jehová habló á Moisés, diciendo: 12Yo he oído las murmuraciones de los hijos de Israel; háblales, diciendo: Entre las dos tardes comeréis carne, y por la mañana os hartaréis de pan, y sabréis que yo soy Jehová vuestro Dios. 13Y venida la tarde subieron codornices que cubrieron el real; y á la mañana descendió rocío en derredor del real. 14Y como el rocío cesó de descender, he aquí sobre la haz del desierto una cosa menuda, redonda, menuda como una helada sobre la tierra. 15Y viéndolo los hijos de Israel, se dijeron unos á otros: ¿Qué es esto? porque no sabían qué era. Entonces Moisés les dijo: Es el pan que Jehová os da para comer. 16Esto es lo que Jehová ha mandado: cogeréis de él cada uno según pudiere comer; un gomer por cabeza, conforme al número de vuestras personas, tomaréis cada uno para los que están en su tienda. 17Y los hijos de Israel lo hicieron así: y recogieron unos más, otros menos: 18Y medíanlo por gomer, y no sobraba al que había recogido mucho, ni faltaba al que había recogido poco: cada uno recogió conforme á lo que había de comer. 19Y díjoles Moisés: Ninguno deje nada de ello para mañana. 20Mas ellos no obedecieron á Moisés, sino que algunos dejaron de ello para otro día, y crió gusanos, y pudrióse; y enojóse contra ellos Moisés. 21Y recogíanlo cada mañana, cada uno según lo que había de comer: y luego que el sol calentaba, derretíase. 22En el sexto día recogieron doblada comida, dos gomeres para cada uno: y todos los príncipes de la congregación vinieron á Moisés, y se lo hicieron saber. 23Y él les dijo: Esto es lo que ha dicho Jehová: Mañana es el santo sábado, el reposo de Jehová: lo que hubiereis de cocer, cocedlo hoy, y lo que hubiereis de cocinar, cocinadlo; y todo lo que os sobrare, guardadlo para mañana. 24Y ellos lo guardaron hasta la mañana, según que Moisés había mandado, y no se pudrió, ni hubo en él gusano. 25Y dijo Moisés: Comedlo hoy, porque hoy es sábado de Jehová: hoy no hallaréis en el campo. 26En los seis días lo recogeréis; mas el séptimo día es sábado, en el cual no se hallará. 27Y aconteció que algunos del pueblo salieron en el séptimo día á recoger, y no hallaron. 28Y Jehová dijo á Moisés: ¿Hasta cuándo no querréis guardar mis mandamientos y mis leyes? 29Mirad que Jehová os dió el sábado, y por eso os da en el sexto día pan para dos días. Estése, pues, cada uno en su estancia, y nadie salga de su lugar en el séptimo día. 30Así el pueblo reposó el séptimo día. 31Y la casa de Israel lo llamó Maná; y era como simiente de culantro, blanco, y su sabor como de hojuelas con miel. 32Y dijo Moisés: Esto es lo que Jehová ha mandado: Henchirás un gomer de él para que se guarde para vuestros descendientes, á fin de que vean el pan que yo os dí á comer en el desierto, cuando yo os saqué de la tierra de Egipto. 33Y dijo Moisés á Aarón: Toma un vaso, y pon en él un gomer lleno de maná, y ponlo delante de Jehová, para que sea guardado para vuestros descendientes. 34Y Aarón lo puso delante del Testimonio para guardarlo, como Jehová lo mandó á Moisés. 35Así comieron los hijos de Israel maná cuarenta años, hasta que entraron en la tierra habitada: maná comieron hasta que llegaron al término de la tierra de Canaán. 36Y un gomer es la décima parte del epha.
1They took their journey from Elim, and all the congregation of the children of Israel came to the wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after their departing out of the land of Egypt. 2The whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron in the wilderness; 3and the children of Israel said to them, “We wish that we had died by the hand of Yahweh in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the meat pots, when we ate our fill of bread, for you have brought us out into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger.” 4Then Yahweh said to Moses, “Behold, I will rain bread from the sky for you, and the people shall go out and gather a day’s portion every day, that I may test them, whether they will walk in my law, or not. 5It shall come to pass on the sixth day, that they shall prepare that which they bring in, and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily.” 6Moses and Aaron said to all the children of Israel, “At evening, then you shall know that Yahweh has brought you out from the land of Egypt; 7and in the morning, then you shall see Yahweh’s glory; because he hears your murmurings against Yahweh. Who are we, that you murmur against us?” 8Moses said, “Now Yahweh shall give you meat to eat in the evening, and in the morning bread to satisfy you; because Yahweh hears your murmurings which you murmur against him. And who are we? Your murmurings are not against us, but against Yahweh.” 9Moses said to Aaron, “Tell all the congregation of the children of Israel, ‘Come near before Yahweh, for he has heard your murmurings.’” 10As Aaron spoke to the whole congregation of the children of Israel, they looked toward the wilderness, and behold, Yahweh’s glory appeared in the cloud. 11Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 12“I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel. Speak to them, saying, ‘At evening you shall eat meat, and in the morning you shall be filled with bread: and you shall know that I am Yahweh your God.’” 13In the evening, quail came up and covered the camp; and in the morning the dew lay around the camp. 14When the dew that lay had gone, behold, on the surface of the wilderness was a small round thing, small as the frost on the ground. 15When the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, “What is it?” For they didn’t know what it was. Moses said to them, “It is the bread which Yahweh has given you to eat.” 16This is the thing which Yahweh has commanded: “Gather of it everyone according to his eating; an omer a head, according to the number of your persons, you shall take it, every man for those who are in his tent.” 17The children of Israel did so, and gathered some more, some less. 18When they measured it with an omer, he who gathered much had nothing over, and he who gathered little had no lack. They gathered every man according to his eating. 19Moses said to them, “Let no one leave of it until the morning.” 20Notwithstanding they didn’t listen to Moses, but some of them left of it until the morning, and it bred worms, and became foul: and Moses was angry with them. 21They gathered it morning by morning, everyone according to his eating. When the sun grew hot, it melted. 22On the sixth day, they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for each one, and all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses. 23He said to them, “This is that which Yahweh has spoken, ‘Tomorrow is a solemn rest, a holy Sabbath to Yahweh. Bake that which you want to bake, and boil that which you want to boil; and all that remains over lay up for yourselves to be kept until the morning.’” 24They laid it up until the morning, as Moses asked, and it didn’t become foul, neither was there any worm in it. 25Moses said, “Eat that today, for today is a Sabbath to Yahweh. Today you shall not find it in the field. 26Six days you shall gather it, but on the seventh day is the Sabbath. In it there shall be none.” 27On the seventh day, some of the people went out to gather, and they found none. 28Yahweh said to Moses, “How long do you refuse to keep my commandments and my laws? 29Behold, because Yahweh has given you the Sabbath, therefore he gives you on the sixth day the bread of two days. Everyone stay in his place. Let no one go out of his place on the seventh day.” 30So the people rested on the seventh day. 31The house of Israel called its name Manna, and it was like coriander seed, white; and its taste was like wafers with honey. 32Moses said, “This is the thing which Yahweh has commanded, ‘Let an omer-full of it be kept throughout your generations, that they may see the bread with which I fed you in the wilderness, when I brought you out of the land of Egypt.’” 33Moses said to Aaron, “Take a pot, and put an omer-full of manna in it, and lay it up before Yahweh, to be kept throughout your generations.” 34As Yahweh commanded Moses, so Aaron laid it up before the Testimony, to be kept. 35The children of Israel ate the manna forty years, until they came to an inhabited land. They ate the manna until they came to the borders of the land of Canaan. 36Now an omer is the tenth part of an ephah.
1Toen zij van Elim gereisd waren, zo kwam de ganse vergadering der kinderen Israels in de woestijn Sin, welke is tussen Elim en tussen Sinai, aan den vijftienden dag der tweede maand, nadat zij uit Egypteland uitgegaan waren. 2En de ganse vergadering der kinderen Israels murmureerde tegen Mozes en tegen Aaron, in de woestijn. 3En de kinderen Israels zeiden tot hen: Och, dat wij in Egypteland gestorven waren door de hand des HEEREN, toen wij bij de vleespotten zaten, toen wij tot verzadiging brood aten! Want gijlieden hebt ons uitgeleid in deze woestijn, om deze ganse gemeente door den honger te doden. 4Toen zeide de HEERE tot Mozes: Zie, Ik zal voor ulieden brood uit den hemel regenen; en het volk zal uitgaan, en verzamelen elke dagmaat op haar dag; opdat Ik het verzoeke, of het in Mijn wet ga, of niet. 5En het zal geschieden op den zesden dag, dat zij bereiden zullen hetgeen zij ingebracht zullen hebben; dat zal dubbel zijn boven hetgeen zij dagelijks zullen verzamelen. 6Toen zeiden Mozes en Aaron tot al de kinderen Israels: Aan den avond, dan zult gij weten, dat u de HEERE uit Egypteland uitgeleid heeft; 7En morgen, dan zult gij des HEEREN heerlijkheid zien, dewijl Hij uw murmureringen tegen den HEERE gehoord heeft; want wat zijn wij, dat gij tegen ons murmureert? 8Voorts zeide Mozes: Als de HEERE ulieden aan den avond vlees te eten zal geven, en aan den morgen brood tot verzadiging, het zal zijn, omdat de HEERE uw murmureringen gehoord heeft, die gij tegen Hem murmureert; want wat zijn wij? Uw murmureringen zijn niet tegen ons, maar tegen den HEERE. 9Daarna zeide Mozes tot Aaron: Zeg tot de ganse vergadering der kinderen Israels: Nadert voor het aangezicht des HEEREN, want Hij heeft uw murmureringen gehoord. 10En het geschiedde, als Aaron tot de ganse vergadering der kinderen Israels sprak, en zij zich naar de woestijn keerden, zo ziet, de heerlijkheid des HEEREN verscheen in de wolk. 11Ook heeft de HEERE tot Mozes gesproken, zeggende: 12Ik heb de murmureringen der kinderen Israels gehoord; spreek tot hen, zeggende: Tussen twee avonden zult gij vlees eten, en aan den morgen zult gij met brood verzadigd worden; en gij zult weten, dat Ik de HEERE uw God ben. 13En het geschiedde aan den avond, dat er kwakkelen opkwamen, en het leger bedekten; en aan den morgen lag de dauw rondom het leger. 14Als nu de liggende dauw opgevaren was, zo ziet, over de woestijn was een klein rond ding, klein als de rijm, op de aarde. 15Toen het de kinderen Israels zagen, zo zeiden zij, de een tot den ander: Het is Man, want zij wisten niet wat het was. Mozes dan zeide tot hen: Dit is het brood, hetwelk de HEERE ulieden te eten gegeven heeft. 16Dit is het woord, dat de HEERE geboden heeft: Verzamelt daarvan een ieder naar dat hij eten mag, een gomer voor een hoofd, naar het getal van uw zielen; ieder zal nemen voor degenen, die in zijn tent zijn. 17En de kinderen Israels deden alzo, en verzamelden, de een veel en de ander weinig. 18Doch als zij het met de gomer maten, zo had hij, die veel verzameld had, niets over, en dien, die weinig verzameld had, ontbrak niet; een iegelijk verzamelde zoveel, als hij eten mocht. 19En Mozes zeide tot hen: Niemand late daarvan over tot den morgen. 20Doch zij hoorden niet naar Mozes, maar sommige mannen lieten daarvan over tot den morgen. Toen wiesen er wormen in, en het werd stinkende; dies werd Mozes zeer toornig op hen. 21Zij nu verzamelden het allen morgen, een iegelijk naar dat hij eten mocht; want als de zon heet werd, zo versmolt het. 22En het geschiedde op den zesden dag, dat zij dubbel brood verzamelden, twee gomers voor een; en al de oversten der vergadering kwamen en verkondigden het aan Mozes. 23Hij dan zeide tot hen: Dit is het, dat de HEERE gesproken heeft: Morgen is de rust, de heilige sabbat des HEEREN! wat gij bakken zoudt, bakt dat, en ziedt, wat gij zieden zoudt; en al wat over blijft, legt het op voor u in bewaring tot den morgen. 24En zij legden het op tot den morgen, gelijk als Mozes geboden had; en het stonk niet, en er was geen worm in. 25Toen zeide Mozes: Eet dat heden, want het is heden de sabbat des HEEREN; gij zult het heden op het veld niet vinden. 26Zes dagen zult gij het verzamelen; doch op den zevenden dag is het sabbat, op denzelven zal het niet zijn. 27En het geschiedde aan den zevenden dag, dat sommigen van het volk uitgingen, om te verzamelen; doch zij vonden niet. 28Toen zeide de HEERE tot Mozes: Hoe lang weigert gijlieden te houden Mijn geboden en Mijn wetten? 29Ziet, omdat de HEERE ulieden den sabbat gegeven heeft, daarom geeft Hij u aan den zesden dag voor twee dagen brood; een ieder blijve in zijn plaats! dat niemand uit zijn plaats ga op den zevenden dag! 30Alzo rustte het volk op den zevenden dag! 31En het huis Israels noemde deszelfs naam Man; en het was als korianderzaad, wit, en de smaak daarvan was als honigkoeken. 32Voorts zeide Mozes: Dit is het woord, hetwelk de HEERE bevolen heeft: Vul een gomer daarvan tot bewaring voor uw geslachten, opdat zij zien het brood, dat Ik ulieden heb te eten gegeven in deze woestijn, toen Ik u uit Egypteland uitleidde. 33Ook zeide Mozes tot Aaron: Neem een kruik, en doe een gomer vol Man daarin; en zet die voor het aangezicht des HEEREN, tot bewaring voor uw geslachten. 34Gelijk als de HEERE aan Mozes geboden had, alzo zette ze Aaron voor de getuigenis tot bewaring. 35En de kinderen Israels aten Man veertig jaren, totdat zij in een bewoond land kwamen; zij aten Man, totdat zij kwamen aan de pale van het land Kanaan. 36Een gomer nu is het tiende deel van een efa.
