1AL mes tercero de la salida de los hijos de Israel de la tierra de Egipto, en aquel día vinieron al desierto de Sinaí. 2Porque partieron de Rephidim, y llegaron al desierto de Sinaí, y asentaron en el desierto; y acampó allí Israel delante del monte. 3Y Moisés subió á Dios; y Jehová lo llamó desde el monte, diciendo: Así dirás á la casa de Jacob, y denunciarás á los hijos de Israel: 4Vosotros visteis lo que hice á los Egipcios, y cómo os tomé sobre alas de águilas, y os he traído á mí. 5Ahora pues, si diereis oído á mi voz, y guardareis mi pacto, vosotros seréis mi especial tesoro sobre todos los pueblos; porque mía es toda la tierra. 6Y vosotros seréis mi reino de sacerdotes, y gente santa. Estas son las palabras que dirás á los hijos de Israel. 7Entonces vino Moisés, y llamó á los ancianos del pueblo, y propuso en presencia de ellos todas estas palabras que Jehová le había mandado. 8Y todo el pueblo respondió á una, y dijeron: Todo lo que Jehová ha dicho haremos. Y Moisés refirió las palabras del pueblo á Jehová. 9Y Jehová dijo á Moisés: He aquí, yo vengo á ti en una nube espesa, para que el pueblo oiga mientras yo hablo contigo, y también para que te crean para siempre. Y Moisés denunció las palabras del pueblo á Jehová. 10Y Jehová dijo á Moisés: Ve al pueblo, y santifícalos hoy y mañana, y laven sus vestidos; 11Y estén apercibidos para el día tercero, porque al tercer día Jehová descenderá, á ojos de todo el pueblo, sobre el monte de Sinaí. 12Y señalarás término al pueblo en derredor, diciendo: Guardaos, no subáis al monte, ni toquéis á su término: cualquiera que tocare el monte, de seguro morirá: 13No le tocará mano, mas será apedreado ó asaeteado; sea animal ó sea hombre, no vivirá. En habiendo sonado largamente la bocina, subirán al monte. 14Y descendió Moisés del monte al pueblo, y santificó al pueblo; y lavaron sus vestidos. 15Y dijo al pueblo: Estad apercibidos para el tercer día; no lleguéis á mujer. 16Y aconteció al tercer día cuando vino la mañana, que vinieron truenos y relámpagos, y espesa nube sobre el monte, y sonido de bocina muy fuerte; y estremecióse todo el pueblo que estaba en el real. 17Y Moisés sacó del real al pueblo á recibir á Dios; y pusiéronse á lo bajo del monte. 18Y todo el monte de Sinaí humeaba, porque Jehová había descendido sobre él en fuego: y el humo de él subía como el humo de un horno, y todo el monte se estremeció en gran manera. 19Y el sonido de la bocina iba esforzándose en extremo: Moisés hablaba, y Dios le respondía en voz. 20Y descendió Jehová sobre el monte de Sinaí, sobre la cumbre del monte: y llamó Jehová á Moisés á la cumbre del monte, y Moisés subió. 21Y Jehová dijo á Moisés: Desciende, requiere al pueblo que no traspasen el término por ver á Jehová, porque caerá multitud de ellos. 22Y también los sacerdotes que se llegan á Jehová, se santifiquen, porque Jehová no haga en ellos estrago. 23Y Moisés dijo á Jehová: El pueblo no podrá subir al monte de Sinaí, porque tú nos has requerido diciendo: Señala términos al monte, y santifícalo. 24Y Jehová le dijo: Ve, desciende, y subirás tú, y Aarón contigo: mas los sacerdotes y el pueblo no traspasen el término por subir á Jehová, porque no haga en ellos estrago. 25Entonces Moisés descendió al pueblo, y habló con ellos.
1In the third month after the children of Israel had gone out of the land of Egypt, on that same day they came into the wilderness of Sinai. 2When they had departed from Rephidim, and had come to the wilderness of Sinai, they encamped in the wilderness; and there Israel encamped before the mountain. 3Moses went up to God, and Yahweh called to him out of the mountain, saying, “This is what you shall tell the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel: 4‘You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings, and brought you to myself. 5Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice, and keep my covenant, then you shall be my own possession from among all peoples; for all the earth is mine; 6and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.” 7Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and set before them all these words which Yahweh commanded him. 8All the people answered together, and said, “All that Yahweh has spoken we will do.” Moses reported the words of the people to Yahweh. 9Yahweh said to Moses, “Behold, I come to you in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with you, and may also believe you forever.” Moses told the words of the people to Yahweh. 10Yahweh said to Moses, “Go to the people, and sanctify them today and tomorrow, and let them wash their garments, 11and be ready against the third day; for on the third day Yahweh will come down in the sight of all the people on Mount Sinai. 12You shall set bounds to the people all around, saying, ‘Be careful that you don’t go up onto the mountain, or touch its border. Whoever touches the mountain shall be surely put to death. 13No hand shall touch him, but he shall surely be stoned or shot through; whether it is animal or man, he shall not live.’ When the trumpet sounds long, they shall come up to the mountain.” 14Moses went down from the mountain to the people, and sanctified the people; and they washed their clothes. 15He said to the people, “Be ready by the third day. Don’t have sexual relations with a woman.” 16On the third day, when it was morning, there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud on the mountain, and the sound of an exceedingly loud trumpet; and all the people who were in the camp trembled. 17Moses led the people out of the camp to meet God; and they stood at the lower part of the mountain. 18Mount Sinai, all it, smoked, because Yahweh descended on it in fire; and its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked greatly. 19When the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses spoke, and God answered him by a voice. 20Yahweh came down on Mount Sinai, to the top of the mountain. Yahweh called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up. 21Yahweh said to Moses, “Go down, warn the people, lest they break through to Yahweh to gaze, and many of them perish. 22Let the priests also, who come near to Yahweh, sanctify themselves, lest Yahweh break out on them.” 23Moses said to Yahweh, “The people can’t come up to Mount Sinai, for you warned us, saying, ‘Set bounds around the mountain, and sanctify it.’” 24Yahweh said to him, “Go down! You shall bring Aaron up with you, but don’t let the priests and the people break through to come up to Yahweh, lest he break out against them.” 25So Moses went down to the people, and told them.
1In de derde maand, na het uittrekken der kinderen Israels uit Egypteland, ten zelfden dage kwamen zij in de woestijn Sinai. 2Want zij togen uit Rafidim, en kwamen in de woestijn Sinai, en zij legerden zich in de woestijn; Israel nu legerde zich aldaar tegenover dien berg. 3En Mozes klom op tot God. En de HEERE riep tot hem van den berg, zeggende: Aldus zult gij tot het huis van Jakob spreken, en den kinderen Israels verkondigen: 4Gijlieden hebt gezien, wat Ik den Egyptenaren gedaan heb; hoe Ik u op vleugelen der arenden gedragen en u tot Mij gebracht hebt. 5Nu dan, indien gij naarstiglijk Mijner stem zult gehoorzamen, en Mijn verbond houden, zo zult gij Mijn eigendom zijn uit alle volken, want de ganse aarde is Mijn; 6En gij zult Mij een priesterlijk koninkrijk, en een heilig volk zijn. Dit zijn de woorden, die gij tot de kinderen Israels spreken zult. 7En Mozes kwam en riep de oudsten des volks, en stelde voor hun aangezichten al deze woorden, die de HEERE hem geboden had. 8Toen antwoordde al het volk gelijkelijk, en zeide: Al wat de HEERE gesproken heeft, zullen wij doen! En Mozes bracht de woorden des volks weder tot den HEERE. 9En de HEERE zeide tot Mozes: Zie, Ik zal tot u komen in een dikke wolk, opdat het volk hore, als Ik met u spreek, en dat zij ook eeuwiglijk aan u geloven. Want Mozes had de HEERE de woorden des volks verkondigd. 10Ook zeide de HEERE tot Mozes: Ga tot het volk, en heilig hen heden en morgen, en dat zij hun klederen wassen, 11En bereid zijn tegen den derden dag; want op den derden dag zal de HEERE voor de ogen van al het volk afkomen, op den berg Sinai. 12En bepaal het volk rondom, zeggende: Wacht u op den berg te klimmen, en deszelfs einde aan te roeren; al wie den berg aanroert, zal zekerlijk gedood worden. 13Geen hand zal hem aanroeren, maar hij zal zekerlijk gestenigd, of zekerlijk doorschoten worden; hetzij een beest, hetzij een man, hij zal niet leven. Als de ramshoorn langzaam gaat, zullen zij op den berg klimmen. 14Toen ging Mozes van den berg af tot het volk, en hij heiligde het volk; en zij wiesen hun klederen. 15En hij zeide tot het volk: Weest gereed tegen den derden dag, en nadert niet tot de vrouw. 16En het geschiedde op den derden dag, toen het morgen was, dat er op den berg donderen en bliksemen waren, en een zware wolk, en het geluid ener zeer sterke bazuin, zodat al het volk verschrikte, dat in het leger was. 17En Mozes leidde het volk uit het leger, Gode tegemoet; en zij stonden aan het onderste des bergs. 18En de ganse berg Sinai rookte, omdat de HEERE op denzelven nederkwam in vuur; en zijn rook ging op, als de rook van een oven; en de ganse berg beefde zeer. 19Toen het geluid der bazuin gaande was, en zeer sterk werd, sprak Mozes; en God antwoordde hem met een stem. 20Als de HEERE nedergekomen was op den berg Sinai, op de spits des bergs, zo riep de HEERE Mozes op de spits des bergs; en Mozes klom op. 21En de HEERE zeide tot Mozes: Ga af, betuig dit volk, dat zij niet doorbreken tot den HEERE, om te zien, en velen van hen vallen. 22Daartoe zullen ook de priesters, die tot den HEERE naderen, zich heiligen, dat de HEERE niet tegen hen uitbreke. 23Toen zeide Mozes tot den HEERE: Het volk zal op den berg Sinai niet kunnen klimmen, want Gij hebt ons betuigd, zeggende: Bepaal den berg, en heilig hem. 24De HEERE dan zeide tot hem: Ga heen, klim af, daarna zult gij, en Aaron met u, opklimmen; doch dat de priesters en het volk niet doorbreken, om op te klimmen tot den HEERE, dat Hij tegen hen niet uitbreke. 25Toen klom Mozes af tot het volk, en zeide het hun aan.
