1Και είπεν ο Σαούλ προς Ιωνάθαν τον υιόν αυτού και προς πάντας τους δούλους αυτού, να θανατώσωσι τον Δαβίδ. 2Ο Ιωνάθαν όμως, ο υιός του Σαούλ, ηγάπα καθ' υπερβολήν τον Δαβίδ· και απήγγειλεν ο Ιωνάθαν προς τον Δαβίδ, λέγων, Σαούλ ο πατήρ μου ζητεί να σε θανατώση· τώρα λοιπόν φυλάχθητι, παρακαλώ, έως πρωΐ, και μένε εν αποκρύφω τόπω και κρύπτου· 3εγώ δε θέλω εξέλθει και σταθή πλησίον του πατρός μου εν τω αγρώ όπου θέλεις είσθαι, και θέλω ομιλήσει περί σου προς τον πατέρα μου· και θέλω ιδεί τι είναι και θέλω σοι απαγγείλει. 4Και ελάλησεν ο Ιωνάθαν καλά περί του Δαβίδ προς τον Σαούλ τον πατέρα αυτού και είπε προς αυτόν, Ας μη αμαρτήση ο βασιλεύς εναντίον του δούλου αυτού, εναντίον του Δαβίδ· επειδή δεν ημάρτησεν εναντίον σου και επειδή τα έργα αυτού εστάθησαν εις σε πολύ καλά· 5διότι ερριψοκινδύνευσε την ζωήν αυτού και εθανάτωσε τον Φιλισταίον, και ο Κύριος έκαμε σωτηρίαν μεγάλην εις πάντα τον Ισραήλ· είδες και εχάρης· διά τι λοιπόν θέλεις να αμαρτήσης εναντίον αθώου αίματος, θανατόνων τον Δαβίδ χωρίς αιτίας; 6Και υπήκουσεν ο Σαούλ εις την φωνήν του Ιωνάθαν· και ώμοσεν ο Σαούλ, λέγων, Ζη Κύριος, δεν θέλει θανατωθή. 7Και έκραξεν ο Ιωνάθαν τον Δαβίδ και απήγγειλε προς αυτόν ο Ιωνάθαν πάντας τους λόγους τούτους. Και έφερεν ο Ιωνάθαν τον Δαβίδ προς τον Σαούλ, και ήτο ενώπιον αυτού ως το πρότερον. 8Έγεινε δε πάλιν πόλεμος· και εξήλθεν ο Δαβίδ και επολέμησε μετά των Φιλισταίων και επάταξεν αυτούς εν σφαγή μεγάλη· και έφυγον από προσώπου αυτού. 9Και το πονηρόν πνεύμα παρά Κυρίου εστάθη επί τον Σαούλ, ενώ εκάθητο εν τω οίκω αυτού μετά του δορατίου εν τη χειρί αυτού· ο δε Δαβίδ έπαιζε το όργανον διά της χειρός αυτού. 10Και εζήτησεν ο Σαούλ να κτυπήση με το δοράτιον τον Δαβίδ και έως εις τον τοίχον· εξέκλινεν όμως από προσώπου του Σαούλ και εκτύπησε τον τοίχον με το δοράτιον· ο δε Δαβίδ έφυγε και διεσώθη εκείνην την νύκτα. 11Και απέστειλεν ο Σαούλ μηνυτάς προς τον οίκον του Δαβίδ, διά να παραφυλάξωσιν αυτόν και να θανατώσωσιν αυτόν το πρωΐ· απήγγειλε δε προς τον Δαβίδ η Μιχάλ, η γυνή αυτού, λέγουσα, Εάν δεν σώσης την ζωήν σου την νύκτα ταύτην, αύριον θέλεις θανατωθή. 12Και κατεβίβασεν η Μιχάλ τον Δαβίδ διά της θυρίδος· και ανεχώρησε και έφυγε και διεσώθη. 13Τότε λαβούσα η Μιχάλ ομοίωμα, έθεσεν επί της κλίνης και έβαλεν εις την κεφαλήν αυτού προσκεφάλαιον εκ τριχών αιγών και εσκέπασεν αυτό με φόρεμα. 14Και ότε απέστειλεν ο Σαούλ μηνυτάς διά να συλλάβωσι τον Δαβίδ, εκείνη είπεν, Άρρωστος είναι. 15Πάλιν απέστειλεν ο Σαούλ τους μηνυτάς διά να ίδωσι τον Δαβίδ, λέγων, Φέρετέ μοι αυτόν επί της κλίνης, διά να θανατώσω αυτόν. 16Και ότε εισήλθον οι μηνυταί, ιδού, ήτο το ομοίωμα επί της κλίνης και προσκεφάλαιον εις την κεφαλήν αυτού εκ τριχών αιγών. 17Και είπεν ο Σαούλ προς την Μιχάλ, Διά τι με ηπάτησας ούτω και απέπεμψας τον εχθρόν μου και διεσώθη; Και απεκρίθη Μιχάλ προς τον Σαούλ, Αυτός είπε προς εμέ, Άφες με να φύγω· διά τι να σε θανατώσω; 18Και έφυγεν ο Δαβίδ και διεσώθη και ήλθε προς τον Σαμουήλ εις Ραμά, και απήγγειλε προς αυτόν πάντα όσα είχε κάμει εις αυτόν ο Σαούλ· και υπήγαν, αυτός και ο Σαμουήλ, και κατώκησαν εν Ναυϊώθ. 19Απήγγειλαν δε προς τον Σαούλ και είπον, Ιδού, ο Δαβίδ είναι εν Ναυϊώθ εν Ραμά. 20Και απέστειλεν ο Σαούλ μηνυτάς να συλλάβωσι τον Δαβίδ· και ότε είδον την σύναξιν των προφητών προφητευόντων και τον Σαμουήλ προϊστάμενον επ' αυτούς, επήλθε Πνεύμα Θεού επί τους μηνυτάς του Σαούλ, και προεφήτευον και αυτοί. 21Και ότε απηγγέλθη προς τον Σαούλ, απέστειλεν άλλους μηνυτάς· και αυτοί ομοίως προεφήτευον. Και απέστειλε πάλιν ο Σαούλ τρίτην φοράν μηνυτάς, και αυτοί έτι προεφήτευον. 22Τότε υπήγε και αυτός εις Ραμά και ήλθεν έως του μεγάλου φρέατος του εν Σοκχώ· και ηρώτησε, λέγων, Που είναι ο Σαμουήλ και ο Δαβίδ; Και είπον, Ιδού, εν Ναυϊώθ εν Ραμά. 23Και υπήγεν εκεί εις Ναυϊώθ την εν Ραμά· και Πνεύμα Θεού επήλθε και επ' αυτόν· και εξηκολούθει την οδόν αυτού προφητεύων, εωσού ήλθεν εις Ναυϊώθ εν Ραμά. 24Και εκδυθείς τα ιμάτια αυτού και αυτός, προεφήτευεν ενώπιον του Σαμουήλ κατά τον αυτόν τρόπον, και κατέκειτο γυμνός όλην εκείνην την ημέραν και όλην την νύκτα. Διά τούτο λέγουσι, Και Σαούλ εν προφήταις;
1Saul spoke to Jonathan his son, and to all his servants, that they should kill David. But Jonathan, Saul’s son, delighted much in David. 2Jonathan told David, saying, “Saul my father seeks to kill you. Now therefore, please take care of yourself in the morning, and live in a secret place, and hide yourself. 3I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where you are, and I will talk with my father about you; and if I see anything, I will tell you.” 4Jonathan spoke good of David to Saul his father, and said to him, “Don’t let the king sin against his servant, against David; because he has not sinned against you, and because his works have been very good toward you; 5for he put his life in his hand, and struck the Philistine, and Yahweh worked a great victory for all Israel. You saw it, and rejoiced. Why then will you sin against innocent blood, to kill David without a cause?” 6Saul listened to the voice of Jonathan: and Saul swore, “As Yahweh lives, he shall not be put to death.” 7Jonathan called David, and Jonathan showed him all those things. Jonathan brought David to Saul, and he was in his presence, as before. 8There was war again. David went out, and fought with the Philistines, and killed them with a great slaughter; and they fled before him. 9An evil spirit from Yahweh was on Saul, as he sat in his house with his spear in his hand; and David was playing with his hand. 10Saul sought to pin David even to the wall with the spear; but he slipped away out of Saul’s presence, and he stuck the spear into the wall. David fled, and escaped that night. 11Saul sent messengers to David’s house, to watch him, and to kill him in the morning. Michal, David’s wife, told him, saying, “If you don’t save your life tonight, tomorrow you will be killed.” 12So Michal let David down through the window. He went, fled, and escaped. 13Michal took the teraphim, and laid it in the bed, and put a pillow of goats’ hair at its head, and covered it with the clothes. 14When Saul sent messengers to take David, she said, “He is sick.” 15Saul sent the messengers to see David, saying, “Bring him up to me in the bed, that I may kill him.” 16When the messengers came in, behold, the teraphim was in the bed, with the pillow of goats’ hair at its head. 17Saul said to Michal, “Why have you deceived me thus, and let my enemy go, so that he is escaped?” Michal answered Saul, “He said to me, ‘Let me go! Why should I kill you?’” 18Now David fled, and escaped, and came to Samuel to Ramah, and told him all that Saul had done to him. He and Samuel went and lived in Naioth. 19It was told Saul, saying, “Behold, David is at Naioth in Ramah.” 20Saul sent messengers to take David: and when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as head over them, the Spirit of God came on the messengers of Saul, and they also prophesied. 21When it was told Saul, he sent other messengers, and they also prophesied. Saul sent messengers again the third time, and they also prophesied. 22Then went he also to Ramah, and came to the great well that is in Secu: and he asked, “Where are Samuel and David?” One said, “Behold, they are at Naioth in Ramah.” 23He went there to Naioth in Ramah. Then the Spirit of God came on him also, and he went on, and prophesied, until he came to Naioth in Ramah. 24He also stripped off his clothes, and he also prophesied before Samuel, and lay down naked all that day and all that night. Therefore they say, “Is Saul also among the prophets?”
