1Nangyari nga pagkamatay ni Moises na lingkod ng Panginoon, na ang Panginoon ay nagsalita kay Josue na anak ni Nun na tagapangasiwa ni Moises, na sinasabi, 2Si Moises na aking lingkod ay patay na; ngayon nga'y tumindig ka, tumawid ka sa Jordang ito, ikaw, at ang buong bayang ito, hanggang sa lupain na aking ibinibigay sa kanila, sa makatuwid baga'y sa mga anak ni Israel. 3Bawa't dakong tuntungan ng talampakan ng inyong paa, ay naibigay ko na sa inyo, gaya ng sinalita ko kay Moises. 4Mula sa ilang, at ang Libanong ito, hanggang sa malaking ilog, na ilog Eufrates, buong lupain ng mga Hetheo, at hanggang sa malaking dagat sa dakong nilulubugan ng araw, ay magiging inyong hangganan. 5Walang makatatayong sinomang tao sa harap mo sa lahat ng mga araw ng iyong buhay: kung paanong ako'y suma kay Moises, ay gayon ako sasa iyo: hindi kita iiwan ni pababayaan kita. 6Magpakalakas ka at magpakatapang na mabuti: sapagka't iyong ipamamana sa bayang ito ang lupain na aking isinumpa sa kanilang mga magulang na ibibigay sa kanila. 7Magpakalakas ka lamang at magpakatapang na mabuti, na isagawa mo ang ayon sa buong kautusan na iniutos sa iyo ni Moises na aking lingkod: huwag kang liliko sa kanan o sa kaliwa, upang ikaw ay magtamo ng mabuting kawakasan saan ka man pumaroon. 8Ang aklat na ito ng kautusan ay huwag mahihiwalay sa iyong bibig, kundi iyong pagbubulayan araw at gabi, upang iyong masunod na gawin ang ayon sa lahat na nakasulat dito: sapagka't kung magkagayo'y iyong pagiginhawahin ang iyong lakad, at kung magkagayo'y magtatamo ka ng mabuting kawakasan. 9Hindi ba kita inutusan? Ikaw ay magpakalakas at magpakatapang na mabuti; huwag kang matakot, ni manglupaypay: sapagka't ang Panginoon mong Dios ay sumasa iyo saan ka man pumaroon. 10Nang magkagayo'y nagutos si Josue sa mga pinunong bayan, na sinasabi, 11Kayo'y magdaan sa gitna ng kampamento, at magutos sa bayan, na sabihin, Maghanda kayo ng baon; sapagka't sa loob ng tatlong araw ay tatawid kayo sa Jordang ito, upang yumaong ariin ang lupain, na ibinibigay sa inyo ng Panginoon ninyong Dios upang ariin. 12At sa mga Rubenita, at sa mga Gadita, at sa kalahating lipi ni Manases, ay nagsalita si Josue, na sinasabi, 13Alalahanin ninyo ang salita na iniutos sa inyo ni Moises na lingkod ng Panginoon, na sinasabi, Binibigyan kayo ng kapahingahan ng Panginoon ninyong Dios, at ibibigay sa inyo ang lupaing ito. 14Ang inyong mga asawa, ang inyong mga bata, at ang inyong mga hayop ay tatahan sa lupain na ibinigay sa inyo ni Moises sa dako roon ng Jordan; nguni't kayo'y tatawid na may sandata sa harap ng inyong mga kapatid, kayong lahat na makapangyarihang lalaking matapang, at tutulong sa kanila; 15Hanggang sa mabigyan ng kapahingahan ng Panginoon ang inyong mga kapatid, na gaya ninyo, at kanila namang maari ang lupaing ibinibigay sa kanila ng Panginoon ninyong Dios: kung magkagayo'y babalik kayo sa lupain na inyong ari, at inyong aariin, yaong ibinigay sa inyo ni Moises na lingkod ng Panginoon sa dako roon ng Jordan sa dakong sinisikatan ng araw. 16At sila'y sumagot kay Josue, na sinasabi, Lahat ng iyong iniutos sa amin ay aming gagawin, at saan mo man kami suguin ay paroroon kami. 17Kung paanong aming dininig si Moises sa lahat ng mga bagay, ay gayon ka namin didinggin: sumaiyo lamang ang Panginoon mong Dios, na gaya kay Moises. 18Sinomang manghihimagsik laban sa iyong utos, at hindi makikinig ng iyong mga salita sa lahat ng iyong iniuutos sa kaniya, ay ipapapatay: magpakalakas ka lamang at magpakatapang na mabuti.
1Now after the death of Moses the servant of Yahweh, Yahweh spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ servant, saying, 2“Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, you, and all this people, to the land which I give to them, even to the children of Israel. 3I have given you every place that the sole of your foot will tread on, as I told Moses. 4From the wilderness, and this Lebanon, even to the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your border. 5No man will be able to stand before you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not fail you nor forsake you. 6“Be strong and courageous; for you shall cause this people to inherit the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. 7Only be strong and very courageous, to observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded you. Don’t turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go. 8This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success. 9Haven’t I commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid, neither be dismayed: for Yahweh your God is with you wherever you go.” 10Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying, 11“Pass through the midst of the camp, and command the people, saying, ‘Prepare food; for within three days you are to pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which Yahweh your God gives you to possess it.’” 12Joshua spoke to the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half-tribe of Manasseh, saying, 13“Remember the word which Moses the servant of Yahweh commanded you, saying, ‘Yahweh your God gives you rest, and will give you this land. 14Your wives, your little ones, and your livestock, shall live in the land which Moses gave you beyond the Jordan; but you shall pass over before your brothers armed, all the mighty men of valor, and shall help them 15until Yahweh has given your brothers rest, as he has given you, and they have also possessed the land which Yahweh your God gives them. Then you shall return to the land of your possession, and possess it, which Moses the servant of Yahweh gave you beyond the Jordan toward the sunrise.’” 16They answered Joshua, saying, “All that you have commanded us we will do, and wherever you send us we will go. 17Just as we listened to Moses in all things, so will we listen to you. Only may Yahweh your God be with you, as he was with Moses. 18Whoever rebels against your commandment, and doesn’t listen to your words in all that you command him, he shall be put to death. Only be strong and courageous.”
1Het geschiedde nu, na den dood van Mozes, den knecht des HEEREN, dat de HEERE tot Jozua, den zoon van Nun, den dienaar van Mozes, sprak, zeggende: 2Mijn knecht Mozes is gestorven; zo maak u nu op, trek over deze Jordaan, gij en al dit volk, tot het land, dat Ik hun, den kinderen Israels, geve. 3Alle plaats, waarop ulieder voetzool treden zal, heb Ik u gegeven, gelijk als Ik tot Mozes gesproken heb. 4Van de woestijn en dezen Libanon af tot aan de grote rivier, de rivier Frath, het ganse land der Hethieten, en tot aan de grote zee, tegen den ondergang der zon, zal ulieder landpale zijn. 5Niemand zal voor uw aangezicht bestaan al de dagen uws levens; gelijk als Ik met Mozes geweest ben, zal Ik met u zijn; Ik zal u niet begeven, en zal u niet verlaten. 6Wees sterk en heb goeden moed! want gij zult dit volk dat land erfelijk doen bezitten, dat Ik hun vaderen heb gezworen hun te geven. 7Alleenlijk wees sterk en heb zeer goeden moed, dat gij waarneemt te doen naar de ganse wet, welke Mozes, Mijn knecht, u geboden heeft, en wijk daarvan niet, ter rechter hand noch ter linkerhand, opdat gij verstandelijk handelt alom, waar gij zult gaan; 8Dat het boek dezer wet niet wijke van uw mond, maar overleg het dag en nacht, opdat gij waarneemt te doen naar alles, wat daarin geschreven is; want alsdan zult gij uw wegen voorspoedig maken, en alsdan zult gij verstandelijk handelen. 9Heb Ik het u niet bevolen? wees sterk en heb goeden moed, en verschrik niet, en ontzet u niet; want de HEERE, uw God, is met u alom, waar gij heengaat. 10Toen gebood Jozua den ambtlieden des volks, zeggende: 11Gaat door het midden des legers, en beveelt het volk, zeggende: Bereidt teerkost voor ulieden; want binnen nog drie dagen zult gijlieden over deze Jordaan gaan, dat gij ingaat, om te erven het land, hetwelk de HEERE, uw God, ulieden geeft om te beerven. 12En Jozua sprak tot de Rubenieten en Gadieten, en den halven stam van Manasse, zeggende: 13Gedenkt aan het woord, hetwelk Mozes, de knecht des HEEREN, ulieden geboden heeft, zeggende: De HEERE, uw God, geeft ulieden rust, en Hij geeft u dit land; 14Laat uw vrouwen, uw kleine kinderen, en uw vee blijven in het land, dat Mozes ulieden aan deze zijde van de Jordaan gegeven heeft; maar gijlieden zult gewapend trekken, voor het aangezicht uwer broederen, alle strijdbare helden, en zult hen helpen; 15Totdat de HEERE uw broederen rust geve, als ulieden, en dat zij ook erfelijk bezitten het land, dat de HEERE, uw God, hun geeft; alsdan zult gijlieden wederkeren tot het land uwer erfenis, en zult het erfelijk bezitten, dat Mozes, de knecht des HEEREN, ulieden gegeven heeft, aan deze zijde van de Jordaan, tegen den opgang der zon. 16Toen antwoordden zij Jozua, zeggende: Al wat gij ons geboden hebt, zullen wij doen, en alom, waar gij ons zenden zult, zullen wij gaan. 17Gelijk wij in alles naar Mozes hebben gehoord, alzo zullen wij naar u horen; alleenlijk dat de HEERE, uw God, met u zij, gelijk als Hij met Mozes geweest is! 18Alle man, die uw mond wederspannig wezen zal, en uw woorden niet horen zal in alles, wat gij hem gebieden zult, die zal gedood worden, alleenlijk wees sterk en heb goeden moed!
