1Bwana akawaambia Mose na Aroni, 2“Waambieni Waisraeli: ‘Kati ya wanyama wote waishio juu ya nchi, hawa ndio mtakaowala: 3Mwaweza kula mnyama yeyote mwenye kwato zilizogawanyika sehemu mbili na ambaye hucheua. 4“‘Kuna wanyama wengine ambao hucheua tu au wenye kwato zilizogawanyika tu, lakini hao kamwe msiwale. Ngamia ingawa hucheua hana kwato zilizogawanyika; kwa kawaida ya ibada hiyo ni najisi kwenu. 5Pelele ingawa hucheua hana kwato zilizogawanyika; huyo ni najisi kwenu. 6Sungura ingawa hucheua hana kwato zilizogawanyika; huyo ni najisi kwenu. 7Naye nguruwe ingawa anazo kwato zilizogawanyika sehemu mbili, hacheui; huyo ni najisi kwenu. 8Kamwe msile nyama yao wala kugusa mizoga yao; wao ni najisi kwenu. 9“‘Kuhusu viumbe wote wanaoishi ndani ya maji ya bahari na vijito, mtakula wale wote wenye mapezi na magamba. 10Lakini viumbe wote ndani ya bahari au vijito wasio na mapezi na magamba, wakiwa miongoni mwa makundi au viumbe wote ndani ya maji, hao ni machukizo kwenu. 11Nao watakuwa machukizo kwenu. Msile nyama yao, nayo mizoga yao itakuwa machukizo. 12Chochote kinachoishi ndani ya maji ambacho hakina mapezi na magamba kitakuwa chukizo kwenu. 13“‘Wafuatao ndio ndege watakaokuwa machukizo kwenu, hivyo msiwale kwa sababu ni chukizo: tai, furukombe, kipungu, 14mwewe mwekundu, aina zote za mwewe mweusi, 15aina zote za kunguru, 16mbuni, kiruka-njia, dudumizi, kipanga, shakwe, aina zote za kipanga, 17bundi, mnandi, bundi mkubwa, 18mumbi, mwari, nderi, 19korongo, koikoi wa aina yoyote, hudihudi na popo. 20“‘Wadudu wote warukao ambao hutembea kwa miguu minne watakuwa chukizo kwenu. 21Lakini wako viumbe wenye mabawa ambao hutembea kwa miguu minne mtakaowala: wale wenye vifundo katika miguu yao ya kurukaruka juu ya ardhi. 22Miongoni mwa hawa, mtakula nzige wa aina zote, senene, parare au panzi. 23Lakini viumbe wengine wote wenye mabawa na wenye miguu minne ni machukizo kwenu. 24“‘Mtajinajisi kwa wanyama hawa. Yeyote agusaye mizoga yao atakuwa najisi mpaka jioni. 25Yeyote atakayebeba mizoga ya viumbe hawa ni lazima afue nguo zake, naye atakuwa najisi mpaka jioni. 26“‘Kila mnyama mwenye ukwato ulioachana lakini haukugawanyika kabisa, au yule asiyecheua, huyo ni najisi kwenu; yeyote agusaye mzoga wowote wa hao atakuwa najisi. 27Miongoni mwa wanyama wote watembeao kwa miguu minne, wale watembeao kwa vitanga vyao ni najisi kwenu; yeyote agusaye mizoga yao atakuwa najisi mpaka jioni. 28Yeyote atakayebeba mizoga yao ni lazima afue nguo zake, naye atakuwa najisi mpaka jioni. Wanyama hawa ni najisi kwenu. 29“‘Kuhusu wanyama watambaao juu ya ardhi, hawa ni najisi kwenu: kicheche, panya, aina yoyote ya mijusi mikubwa, 30guruguru, kenge, mijusi ya ukutani, goromoe na kinyonga. 31Hao wote watambaao juu ya ardhi ni najisi kwenu. Yeyote agusaye mizoga yao atakuwa najisi mpaka jioni. 32Ikiwa mmoja wao atakufa na kuangukia juu ya kitu fulani, chombo hicho, hata kikiwa cha matumizi gani, kitakuwa najisi, kiwe kimetengenezwa kwa mti, nguo, ngozi au gunia. Kiweke ndani ya maji; kitakuwa najisi mpaka jioni, kisha kitakuwa safi tena. 33Ikiwa mmoja wa wanyama aliyekufa ataangukia ndani ya chungu, kila kilichomo katika chungu hicho kitakuwa najisi, nawe ni lazima uvunje chungu hicho. 34Chakula chochote ambacho chaweza kuliwa lakini kikawa kimeingia maji kutoka kwenye chungu hicho ni najisi, na kitu chochote cha majimaji ambacho chaweza kunyweka kutoka kwenye chungu hicho ni najisi. 35Chochote ambacho mzoga wa mmojawapo utaangukia kitakuwa najisi. Jiko au chungu cha kupikia ni lazima kivunjwe. Ni najisi, nawe ni lazima uvihesabu kuwa najisi. 36Lakini chemchemi au kisima, mahali pa kuchota maji, patakuwa safi, lakini yeyote atakayegusa moja ya mizoga hii ni najisi. 37Kama mzoga ukianguka juu ya mbegu zozote ambazo ni za kupanda, zinabaki safi. 38Lakini kama mbegu imetiwa maji na mzoga ukaanguka juu yake, hiyo mbegu ni najisi kwenu. 39“‘Kama mnyama ambaye mnaruhusiwa kumla akifa, yeyote atakayeugusa mzoga wake atakuwa najisi mpaka jioni. 40Yeyote atakayekula sehemu ya mzoga huo ni lazima afue nguo zake, naye atakuwa najisi mpaka jioni. Yeyote atakayebeba mzoga huo ni lazima afue nguo zake, naye atakuwa najisi mpaka jioni. 41“‘Kila kiumbe kitambaacho juu ya ardhi ni chukizo; kisiliwe. 42Msile kiumbe chochote kitambaacho juu ya ardhi, kiwe kitambaacho kwa tumbo lake, au kitambaacho kwa miguu minne au kwa miguu mingi; ni chukizo. 43Msijitie unajisi kwa chochote katika viumbe hivi. Msijitie unajisi kwa viumbe hivyo au kutiwa unajisi navyo. 44Mimi ndimi Bwana Mungu wenu; jitakaseni mwe watakatifu, kwa sababu mimi ni mtakatifu. Msijitie unajisi wenyewe kwa kiumbe chochote kile kiendacho juu ya ardhi. 45Mimi ndimi Bwana niliyewapandisha mtoke Misri ili niwe Mungu wenu. Kwa hiyo kuweni watakatifu kwa sababu Mimi ni mtakatifu. 46“‘Haya ndiyo masharti kuhusu wanyama, ndege, kila kiumbe hai kiendacho ndani ya maji, na kila kiumbe kiendacho juu ya ardhi. 47Ni lazima mpambanue kati ya kilicho najisi na kilicho safi, kati ya viumbe hai vinavyoweza kuliwa na vile visivyoweza kuliwa.’”

1Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying to them, 2“Speak to the children of Israel, saying, ‘These are the living things which you may eat among all the animals that are on the earth. 3Whatever parts the hoof, and is cloven-footed, and chews the cud among the animals, that you may eat. 4“‘Nevertheless these you shall not eat of those that chew the cud, or of those who part the hoof: the camel, because he chews the cud but doesn’t have a parted hoof, he is unclean to you. 5The cony, because he chews the cud but doesn’t have a parted hoof, he is unclean to you. 6The hare, because she chews the cud but doesn’t part the hoof, she is unclean to you. 7The pig, because he has a split hoof, and is cloven-footed, but doesn’t chew the cud, he is unclean to you. 8Of their flesh you shall not eat, and their carcasses you shall not touch; they are unclean to you. 9“‘These you may eat of all that are in the waters: whatever has fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, that you may eat. 10All that don’t have fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of all the living creatures that are in the waters, they are an abomination to you, 11and you detest them. You shall not eat of their flesh, and you shall detest their carcasses. 12Whatever has no fins nor scales in the waters, that is an abomination to you. 13“‘These you shall detest among the birds; they shall not be eaten, they are an abomination: the eagle, and the vulture, and the black vulture, 14and the red kite, any kind of black kite, 15any kind of raven, 16the horned owl, the screech owl, and the gull, any kind of hawk, 17the little owl, the cormorant, the great owl, 18the white owl, the desert owl, the osprey, 19the stork, any kind of heron, the hoopoe, and the bat. 20“‘All flying insects that walk on all fours are an abomination to you. 21Yet you may eat these: of all winged creeping things that go on all fours, which have legs above their feet, with which to hop on the earth. 22Even of these you may eat: any kind of locust, any kind of katydid, any kind of cricket, and any kind of grasshopper. 23But all winged creeping things which have four feet, are an abomination to you. 24“‘By these you will become unclean: whoever touches their carcass shall be unclean until the evening. 25Whoever carries any part of their carcass shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the evening. 26“‘Every animal which parts the hoof, and is not cloven-footed, nor chews the cud, is unclean to you. Everyone who touches them shall be unclean. 27Whatever goes on its paws, among all animals that go on all fours, they are unclean to you. Whoever touches their carcass shall be unclean until the evening. 28He who carries their carcass shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the evening. They are unclean to you. 29“‘These are they which are unclean to you among the creeping things that creep on the earth: the weasel, the rat, any kind of great lizard, 30the gecko, and the monitor lizard, the wall lizard, the skink, and the chameleon. 31These are they which are unclean to you among all that creep. Whoever touches them when they are dead, shall be unclean until the evening. 32On whatever any of them falls when they are dead, it shall be unclean; whether it is any vessel of wood, or clothing, or skin, or sack, whatever vessel it is, with which any work is done, it must be put into water, and it shall be unclean until the evening; then it will be clean. 33Every earthen vessel, into which any of them falls, all that is in it shall be unclean, and you shall break it. 34All food which may be eaten, that on which water comes, shall be unclean; and all drink that may be drunk in every such vessel shall be unclean. 35Everything whereupon part of their carcass falls shall be unclean; whether oven, or range for pots, it shall be broken in pieces: they are unclean, and shall be unclean to you. 36Nevertheless a spring or a cistern in which water is gathered shall be clean: but that which touches their carcass shall be unclean. 37If part of their carcass falls on any sowing seed which is to be sown, it is clean. 38But if water is put on the seed, and part of their carcass falls on it, it is unclean to you. 39“‘If any animal, of which you may eat, dies; he who touches its carcass shall be unclean until the evening. 40He who eats of its carcass shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the evening. He also who carries its carcass shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the evening. 41“‘Every creeping thing that creeps on the earth is an abomination. It shall not be eaten. 42Whatever goes on its belly, and whatever goes on all fours, or whatever has many feet, even all creeping things that creep on the earth, them you shall not eat; for they are an abomination. 43You shall not make yourselves abominable with any creeping thing that creeps, neither shall you make yourselves unclean with them, that you should be defiled thereby. 44For I am Yahweh your God. Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be holy; for I am holy: neither shall you defile yourselves with any kind of creeping thing that moves on the earth. 45For I am Yahweh who brought you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God. You shall therefore be holy, for I am holy. 46“‘This is the law of the animal, and of the bird, and of every living creature that moves in the waters, and of every creature that creeps on the earth, 47to make a distinction between the unclean and the clean, and between the living thing that may be eaten and the living thing that may not be eaten.’”

1En de HEERE sprak tot Mozes, en tot Aaron, zeggende tot hen: 2Spreekt tot de kinderen Israels, zeggende: Dit is het gedierte, dat gij eten zult uit alle beesten, die op de aarde zijn. 3Al wat onder de beesten de klauw verdeelt, en de kloof der klauwen in tweeen klieft, en herkauwt, dat zult gij eten. 4Deze nochtans zult gij niet eten, van degenen, die alleen herkauwen, of de klauwen alleen verdelen: de kemel, want hij herkauwt wel, maar verdeelt den klauw niet; die zal u onrein zijn; 5En het konijntje, want het herkauwt wel, maar verdeelt den klauw niet; dat zal u onrein zijn; 6En den haas, want hij herkauwt wel, maar verdeelt den klauw niet; die zal u onrein zijn. 7Ook het zwijn, want dat verdeelt wel den klauw, en klieft de klove der klauwen in tweeen, maar herkauwt het gekauwde niet; dat zal u onrein zijn. 8Van hun vlees zult gij niet eten, en hun dood aas niet aanroeren, zij zullen u onrein zijn. 9Dit zult gij eten van al wat in de wateren is: al wat in de wateren, in de zeeen en in de rivieren, vinnen en schubben heeft, dat zult gij eten; 10Maar al wat in de zeeen en in de rivieren, van alle gewemel der wateren, en van alle levende ziel, die in de wateren is, geen vinnen of schubben heeft, dat zal u een verfoeisel zijn. 11Ja, een verfoeisel zullen zij u zijn; van hun vlees zult gij niet eten, en hun dood aas zult gij verfoeien. 12Al wat in de wateren geen vinnen en schubben heeft, dat zal u een verfoeisel zijn. 13En van het gevogelte zult gij deze verfoeien, zij zullen niet gegeten worden, zij zullen een verfoeisel zijn: de arend, en de havik, en de zeearend, 14En de gier, en de kraai, naar haar aard; 15Elke rave naar haar aard; 16En de struis, en de nachtuil, en de koekoek, en de sperwer naar zijn aard; 17En de steenuil, en het duikertje, en de schuifuit, 18En de kauw, en de roerdomp, en de pelikaan, 19En de ooievaar, de reiger naar zijn aard, en de hop, en de vledermuis. 20Alle kruipend gevogelte, dat op vier voeten gaat, zal u een verfoeisel zijn. 21Dit nochtans zult gij eten van al het kruipend gevogelte, dat op vier voeten gaat, hetwelk boven aan zijn voeten schenkelen heeft, om daarmede op de aarde te springen; 22Van die zult gij deze eten: de sprinkhaan naar zijn aard, en de solham naar zijn aard, en den hargol naar zijn aard, en den hagab naar zijn aard. 23En alle kruipend gevogelte, dat vier voeten heeft, zal u een verfoeisel zijn. 24En aan deze zult gij verontreinigd worden; zo wie hun dood aas zal aangeroerd hebben, zal onrein zijn tot aan den avond. 25Zo wie van hun dood aas gedragen zal hebben, zal zijn klederen wassen, en onrein zijn tot aan den avond. 26Alle beest, dat den klauw verdeelt, doch de klove niet in tweeen klieft, en niet herkauwt, zal u onrein zijn; zo wie hetzelve aangeroerd zal hebben, zal onrein zijn. 27En al wat op zijn poten gaat onder alle gedierte, op vier voeten gaande, die zullen u onrein zijn; al wie hun dood aas aangeroerd zal hebben, zal onrein zijn tot aan den avond. 28Ook die hun dood aas zal gedragen hebben, zal zijn klederen wassen, en onrein zijn tot aan den avond; zij zullen u onrein zijn. 29Verder zal u dit onder het kruipend gedierte, dat op de aarde kruipt, onrein zijn: het wezeltje, en de muis, en de schildpad, naar haar aard; 30En de zwijnegel, en de krokodil, en de hagedis, en de slak, en de mol; 31Die zullen u onrein zijn onder alle kruipend gedierte; zo wie die zal aangeroerd hebben, als zij dood zijn, zal onrein zijn tot aan den avond. 32Daartoe al hetgeen, waarop iets van dezelve vallen zal, als zij dood zijn, zal onrein zijn, hetzij van alle houten vat, of kleed, of vel, of zak, of alle vat, waarmede werk gedaan wordt; het zal in het water gestoken worden, en onrein zijn tot aan den avond; daarna zal het rein zijn. 33En alle aarden vat, waarin iets van dezelve zal gevallen zijn, al wat daarin is, zal onrein zijn, en gij zult dat breken. 34Van alle spijze, die men eet, waarop het water zal gekomen zijn, die zal onrein zijn; en alle drank, die men drinkt, zal in alle vat onrein zijn. 35En waarop iets van hun dood aas zal vallen, zal onrein zijn; de oven en de aarden pan zal verbroken worden; zij zijn onrein, daarom zullen zij u onrein zijn. 36Doch een fontein, of put van vergadering der wateren, zal rein zijn; maar wie hun dood aas zal aangeroerd hebben, zal onrein zijn. 37En wanneer van hun dood aas zal gevallen zijn op enig zaaibaar zaad, dat gezaaid wordt, dat zal rein zijn. 38Maar als water op het zaad gedaan zal worden, en van hun dood aas daarop zal gevallen zijn, dat zal u onrein zijn. 39En wanneer van de dieren, die u tot spijze zijn, iets zal gestorven zijn, wie deszelfs dood aas zal aangeroerd hebben, zal onrein zijn tot aan den avond. 40Ook die van hun dood aas gegeten zal hebben, zal zijn klederen wassen, en onrein zijn tot aan den avond; en die hun dood aas zal gedragen hebben, zal zijn klederen wassen, en onrein zijn tot aan den avond. 41Voorts alle kruipend gedierte, dat op de aarde kruipt, zal een verfoeisel zijn; het zal niet gegeten worden. 42Al wat op zijn buik gaat, en al wat gaat op zijn vier voeten, of al wat vele voeten heeft, onder alle kruipend gedierte, dat op de aarde kruipt, die zult gij niet eten, want zij zijn een verfoeisel. 43Maakt uw zielen niet verfoeilijk aan enig kruipend gedierte, dat kruipt; en verontreinigt u niet daaraan, dat gij daaraan verontreinigd zoudt worden. 44Want Ik ben de HEERE, uw God; daarom zult gij u heiligen, en heilig zijn, dewijl Ik heilig ben; en gij zult uw ziel niet verontreinigen aan enig kruipend gedierte, dat zich op de aarde roert. 45Want Ik ben de HEERE, Die u uit Egypteland doe optrekken, opdat Ik u tot een God zij, en opdat gij heilig zijt, dewijl Ik heilig ben. 46Dit is de wet van de beesten, en van het gevogelte, en van alle levende ziel, die zich roert in de wateren, en van alle ziel, die kruipt op de aarde; 47Om te onderscheiden tussen het onreine en tussen het reine, en tussen het gedierte, dat men eten, en tussen het gedierte, dat men niet eten zal.
