For you

A psalm for you

How are you feeling today? Pick what comes closest, and read a psalm that knows that feeling. People have prayed these songs for almost three thousand years, in fear and in joy.

Kwa sasa, maelezo ya vifungu na ya vitabu yanapatikana kwa Kiholanzi tu. Maandiko ya Biblia na programu yenyewe yako katika lugha yako; tafsiri za maelezo zinakuja.

How are you feeling today?

There is no wrong answer. You can always pick another feeling.

Pick a feeling above, and we'll find a psalm that fits.

Jesus prayed the psalms

Jesus prayed the psalms

The psalms were Jesus' prayer book. He grew up with them, sang them with his disciples and prayed them on the cross: "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" (Psalm 22) and "Into your hands I commit my spirit" (Psalm 31). Whoever prays a psalm, prays along with him.

Lament is allowed

About a third of the psalms are laments. They ask "how long?" and "why?", and sometimes no answer comes. That these words stand in the Bible says something: being honest with God is also a way of believing.

Seven days of psalms

The reading plan 'Psalms for when life is hard' takes you through a week: from 'how long?' to 'the Lord is my shepherd', with a question each day.

The Lord is my shepherd

Psalm 23 is the best-known song in the Bible. David was a shepherd: he looked after his sheep, went looking for them when they wandered off and protected them from wild animals. That is how God looks after you too.
