Isaya 31

1Ole wao wale washukao Misri kwa ajili ya msaada, wale wategemeao farasi, wanaoweka tumaini katika wingi wa magari yao ya vita, na katika nguvu nyingi za wapanda farasi, lakini hawamwangalii yeye Aliye Mtakatifu wa Israeli, wala hawatafuti msaada kwa Bwana. 2Hata hivyo yeye pia ana hekima na anaweza kuleta maafa, wala hayatangui maneno yake. Yeye atainuka dhidi ya nyumba ya mwovu, dhidi ya wale ambao huwasaidia watenda mabaya. 3Lakini Wamisri ni wanadamu, wala si Mungu, farasi wao ni nyama, wala si roho. Wakati Bwana atakaponyoosha Mkono wake, yeye anayesaidia atajikwaa, naye anayesaidiwa ataanguka, wote wawili wataangamia pamoja. 4Hili ndilo Bwana analoniambia: “Kama vile simba angurumavyo, simba mkubwa juu ya mawindo yake: hata ingawa kundi lote la wachunga mifugo huitwa pamoja dhidi yake, hatiwi hofu na kelele zao wala kusumbuliwa na ghasia zao; ndivyo Bwana Mwenye Nguvu Zote atakavyoshuka kufanya vita juu ya Mlima Sayuni na juu ya vilele vyake. 5Kama ndege warukao, Bwana Mwenye Nguvu Zote ataukinga Yerusalemu; ataukinga na kuuokoa, atapita juu yake na kuufanya salama.” 6Mrudieni yeye ambaye nyumba ya Israeli imemwasi sana. 7Kwa kuwa katika siku ile kila mmoja wenu atazikataa sanamu za fedha na za dhahabu zilizotengenezwa kwa mikono yenu yenye dhambi. 8“Ashuru itaanguka kwa upanga ambao si wa mwanadamu; upanga usio wa kibinadamu utawaangamiza. Watakimbia mbele ya upanga na vijana wao wa kiume watafanyizwa kazi kwa lazima. 9Ngome zao zitaanguka kwa sababu ya hofu; kwa kuona bendera ya vita, majemadari wao watashikwa na hofu ya ghafula,” asema Bwana, ambaye moto wake uko Sayuni, nayo tanuru yake iko Yerusalemu.

1Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, and rely on horses, and trust in chariots because they are many, and in horsemen because they are very strong, but they don’t look to the Holy One of Israel, and they don’t seek Yahweh! 2Yet he also is wise, and will bring disaster, and will not call back his words, but will arise against the house of the evildoers, and against the help of those who work iniquity. 3Now the Egyptians are men, and not God; and their horses flesh, and not spirit. When Yahweh stretches out his hand, both he who helps shall stumble, and he who is helped shall fall, and they all shall be consumed together. 4For thus says Yahweh to me, “As the lion and the young lion growling over his prey, if a multitude of shepherds is called together against him, will not be dismayed at their voice, nor abase himself for their noise, so Yahweh of Armies will come down to fight on Mount Zion and on its heights. 5As birds hovering, so Yahweh of Armies will protect Jerusalem. He will protect and deliver it. He will pass over and preserve it.” 6Return to him from whom you have deeply revolted, children of Israel. 7For in that day everyone shall cast away his idols of silver and his idols of gold—sin which your own hands have made for you. 8“The Assyrian will fall by the sword, not of man; and the sword, not of mankind, shall devour him. He will flee from the sword, and his young men will become subject to forced labor. 9His rock will pass away by reason of terror, and his princes will be afraid of the banner,” says Yahweh, whose fire is in Zion, and his furnace in Jerusalem.

1Wee dengenen, die in Egypte om hulp aftrekken, en steunen op paarden, en vertrouwen op wagenen, omdat er vele zijn, en op ruiters, omdat die zeer machtig zijn; en zien niet op den Heilige Israels, en zoeken den HEERE niet. 2Nochtans is Hij ook wijs, en Hij doet het kwaad komen, en trekt Zijn woorden niet terug; maar Hij zal Zich opmaken tegen het huis der boosdoeners, en tegen de hulp dergenen, die ongerechtigheid werken. 3Want de Egyptenaren zijn mensen, en geen God, en hun paarden zijn vlees, en geen geest; en de HEERE zal Zijn hand uitstrekken, dat de helper struikelen zal, en die geholpen wordt, zal nedervallen, en zij zullen al te zamen te niet komen. 4Want alzo heeft de HEERE tot mij gezegd: Gelijk als een leeuw, en een jonge leeuw over zijn roof brult, wanneer schoon een volle menigte der herderen samengeroepen wordt tegen hem, verschrikt hij voor hun stem niet, en vernedert zich niet vanwege hun veelheid; alzo zal de HEERE der heirscharen nederdalen, om te strijden voor den berg Sions en voor haar heuvel. 5Gelijk vliegende vogelen, alzo zal de HEERE der heirscharen Jeruzalem beschutten, beschuttende zal Hij haar ook verlossen, doorgaande zal Hij haar ook uithelpen. 6Bekeert u tot Hem, van Denwelken de kinderen Israels diep afgeweken zijn. 7Want te dien dage zullen zij verwerpen, een ieder zijn zilveren afgoden en zijn gouden afgoden, welke u uw handen tot zonde gemaakt hadden; 8En Assur zal vallen door het zwaard, niet eens mans, en het zwaard, niet eens mensen, zal hem verteren; en hij zal voor het zwaard vlieden, en zijn jongelingen zullen versmelten. 9En hij zal van vreze doorgaan naar zijn rotssteen, en zijn vorsten zullen voor de banier verschrikken, spreekt de HEERE, die te Sion vuur, en te Jeruzalem een oven heeft.
