Isaya 2

1Hili ndilo aliloliona Isaya mwana wa Amozi kuhusu Yuda na Yerusalemu: 2Katika siku za mwisho mlima wa Hekalu la Bwana utaimarishwa kama mlima mkuu miongoni mwa milima yote, utainuliwa juu ya vilima, na mataifa yote yatamiminika huko. 3Mataifa mengi yatakuja na kusema, “Njooni, twendeni mlimani mwa Bwana, kwenye nyumba ya Mungu wa Yakobo. Atatufundisha njia zake, ili tuweze kuenenda katika mapito yake.” Sheria itatoka Sayuni, neno la Bwana litatoka Yerusalemu. 4Atahukumu kati ya mataifa na ataamua migogoro ya mataifa mengi. Watafua panga zao ziwe majembe, na mikuki yao kuwa miundu ya kukata matawi. Taifa halitainua upanga dhidi ya taifa jingine, wala hawatajifunza vita tena. 5Njooni, enyi nyumba ya Yakobo, tutembeeni katika nuru ya Bwana. 6Umewatelekeza watu wako, nyumba ya Yakobo. Wamejaa ushirikina utokao Mashariki, wanapiga ramli kama Wafilisti na wanashikana mikono na wapagani. 7Nchi yao imejaa fedha na dhahabu, hakuna mwisho wa hazina zao. Nchi yao imejaa farasi, hakuna mwisho wa magari yao. 8Nchi yao imejaa sanamu, wanasujudia kazi za mikono yao, vitu vile vidole vyao vimevitengeneza. 9Kwa hiyo mwanadamu atashushwa na binadamu atanyenyekezwa: usiwasamehe. 10Ingieni kwenye miamba, jificheni ardhini kutokana na utisho wa Bwana na utukufu wa enzi yake! 11Macho ya mtu mwenye majivuno yatanyenyekezwa na kiburi cha wanadamu kitashushwa, Bwana peke yake ndiye atakayetukuzwa siku hiyo. 12Bwana Mwenye Nguvu Zote anayo siku aliyoiweka akiba kwa wote wenye kujivuna na wenye kiburi, kwa wote wanaojikweza (nao watanyenyekezwa), 13kwa mierezi yote ya Lebanoni iliyo mirefu sana, na mialoni yote ya Bashani, 14kwa milima yote mirefu na vilima vyote vilivyoinuka, 15kwa kila mnara ulio mrefu sana na kila ukuta wenye ngome, 16kwa kila meli ya biashara, na kila chombo cha baharini cha fahari. 17Majivuno ya mwanadamu yatashushwa, na kiburi cha wanadamu kitanyenyekezwa, Bwana peke yake ndiye atatukuzwa siku hiyo, 18nazo sanamu zitatoweka kabisa. 19Watu watakimbilia kwenye mapango ndani ya miamba, na kwenye mahandaki ardhini kutokana na utisho wa Bwana na utukufu wa enzi yake, ainukapo kuitikisa dunia. 20Siku ile, watu watawatupia panya na popo sanamu zao za fedha na za dhahabu, walizozitengeneza ili waziabudu. 21Watakimbilia kwenye mapango miambani na kwenye nyufa za miamba kutokana na utisho wa Bwana na utukufu wa enzi yake, ainukapo kuitikisa dunia. 22Acheni kumtumainia mwanadamu, ambaye hana kitu ila pumzi katika pua zake. Yeye ana thamani gani?

1This is what Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem. 2It shall happen in the latter days, that the mountain of Yahweh’s house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be raised above the hills; and all nations shall flow to it. 3Many peoples shall go and say, “Come, let’s go up to the mountain of Yahweh, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths.” For out of Zion the law shall go out, and Yahweh’s word from Jerusalem. 4He will judge between the nations, and will decide concerning many peoples; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. 5House of Jacob, come, and let us walk in the light of Yahweh. 6For you have forsaken your people, the house of Jacob, because they are filled from the east, with those who practice divination like the Philistines, and they clasp hands with the children of foreigners. 7Their land is full of silver and gold, neither is there any end of their treasures. Their land also is full of horses, neither is there any end of their chariots. 8Their land also is full of idols. They worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made. 9Man is brought low, and mankind is humbled; therefore don’t forgive them. 10Enter into the rock, and hide in the dust, from before the terror of Yahweh, and from the glory of his majesty. 11The lofty looks of man will be brought low, the haughtiness of men will be bowed down, and Yahweh alone will be exalted in that day. 12For there will be a day of Yahweh of Armies for all that is proud and haughty, and for all that is lifted up; and it shall be brought low: 13For all the cedars of Lebanon, that are high and lifted up, for all the oaks of Bashan, 14For all the high mountains, for all the hills that are lifted up, 15For every lofty tower, for every fortified wall, 16For all the ships of Tarshish, and for all pleasant imagery. 17The loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be brought low; and Yahweh alone shall be exalted in that day. 18The idols shall utterly pass away. 19Men shall go into the caves of the rocks, and into the holes of the earth, from before the terror of Yahweh, and from the glory of his majesty, when he arises to shake the earth mightily. 20In that day, men shall cast away their idols of silver, and their idols of gold, which have been made for themselves to worship, to the moles and to the bats; 21To go into the caverns of the rocks, and into the clefts of the ragged rocks, from before the terror of Yahweh, and from the glory of his majesty, when he arises to shake the earth mightily. 22Stop trusting in man, whose breath is in his nostrils; for of what account is he?

1Het woord, dat Jesaja, de zoon van Amoz, gezien heeft over Juda en Jeruzalem. 2En het zal geschieden in het laatste der dagen, dat de berg van het huis des HEEREN zal vastgesteld zijn op den top der bergen, en dat hij zal verheven worden boven de heuvelen, en tot denzelven zullen alle heidenen toevloeien. 3En vele volken zullen heengaan en zeggen: Komt, laat ons opgaan tot den berg des HEEREN, tot het huis van den God Jakobs, opdat Hij ons lere van Zijn wegen, en dat wij wandelen in Zijn paden; want uit Sion zal de wet uitgaan, en des HEEREN woord uit Jeruzalem. 4En Hij zal rechten onder de heidenen, en bestraffen vele volken; en zij zullen hun zwaarden slaan tot spaden, en hun spiesen tot sikkelen; het ene volk zal tegen het andere volk geen zwaard opheffen, en zij zullen geen oorlog meer leren. 5Komt, gij huis van Jakob, en laat ons wandelen in het licht des HEEREN. 6Maar Gij hebt Uw volk, het huis van Jakob, verlaten, want zij zijn vervuld met goddeloosheid, meer dan het oosten, en zij zijn guichelaars gelijk de Filistijnen, en aan de kinderen der vreemden tonen zij hun behagen. 7En hun land is vervuld met zilver en goud, en hunner schatten is geen einde; hun land is ook vervuld met paarden, en hunner wagenen is geen einde. 8Ook is hun land vervuld met afgoden; voor het werk hunner handen buigen zij zich neder, voor hetgeen hun vingeren gemaakt hebben. 9Daar bukt zich de gemene man, en de aanzienlijke man vernedert zich; daarom zult Gij het hun niet vergeven. 10Ga in den rotssteen, en verberg u in het stof, vanwege den schrik des HEEREN, en om de heerlijkheid Zijner majesteit. 11De hoge ogen de mensen zullen vernederd worden, en de hoogheid der mannen zal nedergebogen worden; en de HEERE alleen zal in dien dag verheven zijn. 12Want de dag des HEEREN der heirscharen zal zijn tegen allen hovaardige en hoge, en tegen allen verhevene, opdat hij vernederd worde; 13En tegen alle hoge en verhevene cederen van Libanon, en tegen alle eiken van Basan; 14En tegen alle hoge bergen, en tegen alle verhevene heuvelen; 15En tegen allen hogen toren, en tegen allen vasten muur; 16En tegen alle schepen van Tarsis, en tegen alle gewenste schilderijen. 17En de hoogheid der mensen zal gebogen, en de hoogheid der mannen zal vernederd worden; en de HEERE alleen zal in die dag verheven zijn. 18En elkeen der afgoden zal ganselijk vergaan. 19Dan zullen zij in de spelonken der rotsstenen gaan, en in de holen der aarde, vanwege den schrik des HEEREN, en vanwege de heerlijkheid Zijner majesteit, wanneer Hij Zich opmaken zal, om de aarde te verschrikken. 20In dien dag zal de mens zijn zilveren afgoden, en zijn gouden afgoden, welke zij zich gemaakt hadden, om zich daarvoor neder te buigen, wegwerpen voor de mollen en de vledermuizen; 21Gaande in de reten der rotsen en in de kloven der steenrotsen, vanwege den schrik des HEEREN, en vanwege de heerlijkheid Zijner majesteit, wanneer Hij Zich opmaken zal, om de aarde geweldiglijk te verschrikken. 22Laat gijlieden dan af van den mens, wiens adem in zijn neus is, want waarin is hij te achten?
